Laura, it seems Nate golfs a lot which is fantastic. How do I convince my wife to let me golf more. I currently have to take my kids (8,6,4) if I want to go. Which is fun but it’s a lot of work and I can’t improve my game. So what arrangement if any do you have around this very time consuming hobby.

I play your podcast while working illustrating on my computer. Sometimes I spend large amounts of time without saving my progress because I forget to do so and then my computer crashes and I lose all my work. Now I click save every time I hear Nate say "unbelievable" or every time he roasts Bland Bread. I haven't lost a single piece of work ever since. Gretings from a Spanish folk, you are all hilarious!

    Hello Folks,
This episode is pure gold. As I'm sitting here drinking a McDonalds Coke, regular, not diet because only crazy people drink diet coke, and I get to 1 hour and 7 mins I literally shot the coke out of my nose laughing so hard. Maybe you all can be reporters for CNN! The way Mr. PainGwen spun McDonald's feeding more homeless people than any other company, it's like nothing I've heard before. This is a fantastic show/ podcast thing! I'm not even sure what it is but it's pure gold. Keep up the good work!

Chik Fila is the GOAT of fast food. I used to be a pharmaceutical rep and ordered lunches from there for offices often because of their service. One time I had a lunch at a large office and purchased a ton of chik fila. Like nuggets, sandwiches etc. I always overdid it because i took home whatever was left sometimes ;) Couple people ordered salads so they got those. I sit in this office for over an hour eating and schmoozing the nurses etc and suddenly one of them says wheres the doctors salad? it seemed chik fila forgot it so i just said "hell be alright with a sandwich or nuggets right? " and they were like oh no hes very particular. So i panic. I call chik fila and explain it to the manager and the manager said "no problem, im on my way". He left and drove it 10 mins down the road to me. My pleasure

When I was 17 I got a Discover student credit card with the intention of maxing it out and making payments to build my credit. The day I got it, I told a group of friends to meet me at Hooters and that they could order whatever they wanted because I was buying. We literally hung out for hours, each ordered multiple entrees and ran up a tap none of us could actually afford. Eventually the waitress brings the bill and I confidently say "I'll take that" and drop my newly received card. The waitress looks it it then looks at me and says, "we don't accept Discover" (something back then I didn't even know was a possibility)

As the one who advocated for women’s giant hips I must say that I 100% would rather eat my McDouble in the back of a Kroger parking lot than literally anywhere else. It may have started as shame, but now it is just genuine enjoyment.
P.s. I wanted to say, as a born and raised Texan, that the beauty of Whataburger isn’t their burgers... it’s the breakfast. If you haven’t had their honey butter chicken biscuit at 2:00 am then you haven’t lived.

Nate's story about shame-eating fast food in the back of a parking lot is spot on and reminds me of something that happened to me. A few years ago as a college student home for winter break, I was of course doing all my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve, when I got a call from my folks letting me know to get home faster than I had planned. Starving, and knowing I wouldn't get to eat until after church, I pulled through McDonald's. I drove all the way across town to the mall and pulled into the last row of the parking lot, as far away as possible from human eyes, so that I could devour two fast food sandwiches in a way that I can only describe as blasphemous. Wrappers are flying, food is all over, I'm sweating. Midway through my second sandwich, I look up for the first time to scan my surroundings - I'm parked two empty spaces away from some kind of ultra-luxury, custom future car. The interior of the car was all bright orange. The driver, a really slick looking mall guy, just locked eyes with me, then gave me two thumbs up. I said 'Merry Christmas' with my mouth full, through the closed window of my mom's van. Love the show, you guys have kept me LOLing throughout this crazy year. Be nice to Bagel Bites.

Nate, I grew up in a similar economic situation. My dad would only buy us McDonalds once a year. He NEVER bought us a happy meal. He bought us hamburgers when they were $0.49. We couldn’t get a cheeseburger because that was $0.10 more. When I asked why we couldn’t get a happy meal, my dad said we had soda at home and my mom could make French fries. What?? I mean, couldn’t mom make a hamburger too? That’s been the running joke in our family for years! Never did get that happy meal toy growing up so made sure to get them for my own kids.

Hey guys big fan of the show. The chemistry between Nate, Aaron, and Breathe-right makes every episode great. The reason McDonald’s coke tastes the best is actually because of the way they filter their water. Every McDonald’s restaurant uses state of the art reverse osmosis filtration to purify their water to ridiculously pure levels giving it a distinct taste.

Hearing you guys argue over the cause of the nasal symphony in buffy the fun slayers nose was great, until it seemed like you guys were actually upset, then it felt like I was watching my parents fight. Today I learned the greatest average American considers the Continental or Contiguous U.S the "middle part of the U.S." It's a travesty that Nateland University is not yet accredited. Seriously, this podcast is the greatest average American podcast. Whereas most are pretentious and polemical with their sarcasm, you guys are self-deprecatingly so. And that makes this fantastic. It's like hanging out with the guys after crushing $13,000 worth of Big Macs.

Gosh. Thanks folks.

The part where Nate talks about shamefully eating in your car, in the back of a random parking lot, then throwing away the evidence so your family doesn't find out was spot on accurate. I was laughing so hard I was crying and gasping for air. When my husband asked what was so funny I lied and said it was nothing so he didn't know my secret. I do this every time I am able to get out of the house without my kids.

Every podcast makes me remember things from the past I haven’t thought about in decades. This time the prom stories made me remember in the late 90’s when we made $5.15 per hour, $200 a week before taxes, $175 net take home. But being in HS most kids only worked 20 hrs per week so each week I took home about $90. Friends and I decided to go all out, tuxes, expensive corsages, limo, etc. it took forever to save up for everything, then we decide last minute to also go to one of the most top end restaurants in the area.
We sit down and order what we expect to be full plates of steak - like 30oz monsters and end up getting a huge plate with maybe 2oz of meat surrounded by garnish. Unfortunately each plate is like $50-$75 so we have absolutely no money left to order anything else or to even get fast food after we left.
Such a disappointing prom memory that I will always remember.

I love the fast food topic! I grew up with 8 brothers and sisters, so we always went with whatever was on sale, never the happy meal. Once when I was around 6, we went into a McDonald's and before we could order, a woman came up to us and said she was hosting a birthday party for her son and nobody had come. She asked if we would like to come and eat the food she had bought for the no-show guests. All of us children felt extremely sad about the fact that this kid had nobody come to his birthday party, but my mom was thrilled! To this day, I wonder about how that kid is doing. Anyway, thanks for a great podcast! Also, the question I have for Laura is: Does Nate clear all his marriage/fighting jokes with you first, or have you ever been unpleasantly surprised by hearing one in his act?

This is more of a comment on the comment section, but wanted to share my "not enough money on a date" story.
When I was in college I had been texting with this girl that I met once at a party. We talked for a few weeks, but never had the chance to hang out. One night out of the blue, she asked if I wanted to meet for dinner in 30 minutes. I of course said "yes," threw on some jeans and ran out the door. We had a nice dinner, good conversation, etc. The check comes, I reach into my back pocket as we continued to talk and it hit me.... I DIDN'T HAVE MY WALLET. I let the check sit there for a while as we talked, and I contemplated how to get out of the situation. I eventually had to fess up that I had forgot my wallet. She was cool about it, covered the check, and I used the "I owe you" to get a 2nd date. We didn't have many dates after that, but the horror of that moment will always haunt me.

    Hello folks!
This has nothing to do with your podcast, I am rewatching you netflix special talking about dead horses.
I grew up next to a horse farm and had to walk past it everyday on my way to the bus stop. One day there was a horse down by the road that was stiff as a board dead. I called my neighbor and had to convince her over the phone that her horse was dead.
"Are you sure its not sleeping?" She proceeded to ask.
I had to explain that this horse was laying on its back with legs straight up in the sky. She still didn't believe me.
20 minutes later she called back and told me indeed the horse was dead.
Anyway love your podcast its my escape on my way to and from work.

Nate, don't feel guilty about drinking soda in the morning! I am only a year or two younger than you & the first thing I drink every day is a Dr Pepper, whether I eat breakfast or not. And it doesn't matter if it is 6 am or noon. Even when I'm away from home, if I can't find a Dr Pepper, I will have a different kind of soda. This is mainly because I love Dr Pepper & can't stand the taste of coffee. But also I have just never understood why so many people make such a big deal about the "right" time of day to eat or drink certain things. I see nothing wrong with having sushi for breakfast if that's what you're hungry for... or a bowl of cereal for dinner!

My favorite part of this episode is the rage Nate feels toward Bates not dealing with his nose whistle. Bates is just taking the bear attack strategy of playing dead and maybe he’ll get bored and move on. It’s also unbelievable how none of you consider that maybe Bates needs to use Affrin or something to clear out whistly boogers, nope it’s gotta be the mic angle!

Hello Folks! I am a 4th grade teacher and this year has been crazy to say the least. I don't normally have a ton of time to eat lunch, this year has made it even tougher to grab a bite. I usually stop by McDonald's after school to unwind (McChicken, McDouble, and a diet coke). Almost 100 percent of the time I go to a parking lot to eat so I don't have to admit I'm eating SO many unhealthy calories 🤣. Throw the trash in our outside trash bin and come in the house like I'm ready for dinner since I have eaten all day. Love the show!

Just listened to Breakfast read about bacteria in fast food pop machines as I'm drinking a large pop from taco bell...I had to pause the podcast to finish my dinner in peace.
Wow and then Nate just brings Taco Bell down...
Continued on with the podcast to then be called out for eating my dinner in the back of a target parking lot...
I thought this podcast was going to support my fast food habits, but that did not turn out to be true

Nate if you don’t like In-n-outs fries because they are too soft, just ask for them well done. In-n-out has an entire “secret” menu where you customize any of the items on the menu.

Every time I feel like a topic has been exhausted, Nate finds a way to keep it going. That Ronald McDonald stop light conversation had me rolling. I want to see Aaron perform for the kids in Nate's neighborhood and explain to them how to use a stop light. Keep up the great work every week! Also, have you guys ever had a Culver's Butterburger? Just curious...

My friends and I went to Bojangles so many times in high school that we showed up the week before graduation and the women working there had all pitched in to get us gifts before college. It was a picture frame with a picture of them in it. We figured we spent roughly $5k at bojangles in our 4 years of high school. More than the cost of my car back then. Loved the episode!

So I was the main cleaner of the ice cream machines at my McDonald's. The machine itself is flawed. They cost about $23,000 and that's not a typo. It's absurd. But at night they do a quick clean and at that point the procedure is to let it sit overnight and set it back up in the morning. That's why late at night it's usually down.

Aaron is 1000% too smart for this show. When Nate or Breakfast take a stance on almost anything I can feel Aaron's seething resentment while he's trying to figure out how to dumb down his response. Also, good night Nate, listening to you read is like hearing someone start a new sentence ever two words. All jokes aside, love the show & keep up the good work!

I do have a good story about Chick fil-A. The founder Truett Cathy used to teach my frat buddies in Jonosboro, Ga Sunday Bible School. Supposedly he would give all the kids $100 bills for showing up.

As someone who always used to claim In N Out was overrated, we now have one 3 miles from our house, if we want a fast food burger, we drive past 2 McDonald’s, Carl’s Junior, Jack in the box, Wendy’s and a Burger King right across the street every time. They by FAR , have the best fast food burger, especially for the price.

I can relate to the Ronald McDonald story. In 3rd grade Ronald McDonald also came to my school. I have no idea why he was there I just remember midway through the assembly he lost his voice and my principal had to come in and read the rest of the presentation while ron just sat off to the side. Eventually he had given up being apart of it at all and we watched him walk off the stage and some kids said they saw him in the back of the room full makeup but took the red wig off. I’m from Maryland so this must have been a nationwide thing schools did.

Hey guys, speaking of "what would you do?" moments, I have a Starbucks-related story and I was wondering what you'd do in my place. I was in line at a Starbucks, and a lady in front of me was rifling through her huge, cluttered purse to get out her wallet. As she pulled out her wallet, I also took mine out of my pocket, and when I did, about 3 dollars in quarters also fell out of MY pocket. The lady in front of me immediately went "oh gosh sorry!" and started picking up all my change thinking SHE had dropped it. She was so confidently picking it up and putting it into her purse that I didn't know what to do so I just didn't say anything and let her keep it.
Anyway it reminded me of something you guys would talk about. Love the podcast, thanks for all of it.

    Questions for Laura:
    1. What is Nate’s most annoying but funny trait?
    2. How is Nate at picking out presents for you?
    3. Other than Nate, which comedians do you find yourself laughing at?
    4. If you asked Nate to cook you and Harper dinner what would he make?
    5. When they are done with each episode of the podcast is there any bickering between these jokers?

After teaching a mathematics' class, I asked the students to hand in their completed work. One of the last students to hand in work, I responded to Jenny, "Thank you," as she handed me her paper.
    "My pleasure," she said.
    After a pause, I asked,
"Jenny, do you work at Chick-fil-a?" She smiled and said "yes." It was nice to hear, "my pleasure," as a student completed her math problems.

    2 things my fellow Natives...
    1) We should make a t-shirt of Nate with a golf club saying "I know some of you dont like when I talk about golf but guess what this is my podcast"
    2) Not really a fast food restaurant but close enough..at the Red Robin in Canton, OH there was a chef who cut off his thumb and went to the ER but accidentally left the thumb in someone's salad and apparently they picked it up thinking it was a crouton then proceeded to faint. I'm not sure if there was ever a lawsuit or anything but it made national news at the time and somehow that Red Robin is still open 15 years later

In N out burger will NEVER expand outside of a 3hr shipping radius from their Beef supplier in Texas...they don't have freezers, so it's always fresh beef. That's the difference. And they are that's good. The fries are gross even with them being fresh cut idaho potatoes. The burgers are delicious.

My personal McDonald's hack: order fries without salt to have them freshly made on the spot every time. This is because the fries that are made in advance throughout the day are always salted, so unsalted fries are made-to-order. If you dip your fries in ketchup like I do, you don't even need salt anyway.
