I know several people in the comments have already said it, but it bears repeating--you guys are great, and you get better every week. This is a very entertaining podcast. I really like how your friendship dynamic shows through in the conversation; it gives the whole thing a down-to-Earth, no-frills vibe, which was amplified in this particular episode when you started sharing personal stories. You're all doing a great thing here. Keep up the fantastic work!
I was listening in my car on the way to work and was crying laughing when Brian was telling the story about stealing 2nd base! I got home and immediately made my wife watch it and we were both crying laughing on the couch for about 15 minutes. Hilarious, love the show, all three of you are great, can’t wait for touring to start again to hopefully catch you guys!
Hi, Nate - Big hockey fan here. Some of the reason's Gretzky's all time point record may never be broken is the bigger focus on player training and development. The same goes for goalies too; their equipment and pads have drastically improved as well. Goals and assists are both considered points in hockey. Gretzky could have never scored a goal and he would still be the all time points leader. Wayne also has the most goals scored at 894. The closest active player is Alex Ovechkin with 706, who as always been a consistent scorer. He has never scored less than 32 goals a season, including the lock-out shortened season of 2012-13. He averages around 50 goals a year, he's 188 away and he's 34. It's almost guaranteed to do it. Jaromir Jagr spent 4 years in the 90s playing over seas. It's interesting to speculate how much closer Jagr would have come if he would have stayed in the NHL during that time. My wife Juliette and I are your biggest fans - love the podcast. -Nick.
With the papers and the pen on the table it feels like some kind of a very important study group that went off the road because of the great comedy between the participants. 😀
Watched the first episode from more than 3 years ago, amazing!! NATE'S always cracked me up, but Aaron and Brian really came out differently, different type of comedy, hysterical. I've never seen these 2 live but Nate's 'life experiences," make him top of his game and I'm just 29. Keep it up boys!
1:44:48 This story from Brian brought out the hardest laughter I’ve ever seen from Nate. Clearly he’s heard this story before and delights in hearing it again. 😂😂😂
Brian, I’m with you Brother. I’m a left-hander and have been playing with the same clubs since 1992. My buddies call them the ‘Bagger Vance Classics’. 🤘🏻
Dude you and Brian killed it in Huntsville Saturday! I was at the 630 show, and I almost took the seeing people crying joke personal cause I was laughing so hard I was crying. And I almost yelled out the finish to your "iced coffee with cream" bit for you. Thank you so much for headlining my first public outing and date in way too long. Can't wait to see you live again man!
Keep up the Seinfeld references & golf discussions. Also pretty sure we all want to hear about Brian’s Starbucks mishaps on his coffee runs for y’all, cause we know they exist.
That was the most spectacular ending to your podcast!!! I was crying, watching you guys laughing at Brian's 1st to 2nd back to 1st base story!!! I LOVE you guys SOOO MUCH ❤️🤣🤣
I also had a similar experience to Brian’s car break-in. I left my truck open in L.A. overnight (no power locks or alarm) and when I got in to drive, I noticed my glove box was open but nothing was stolen....I had an MP3 player but it wasn’t an iPod that was still in the truck. I loved that story Brian!
I suppose it's due to the window reflection and glare, but really like the look in first podcast seeing the trees through the window. worth the reflection a few times.
I am from South Pittsburg! When I heard you mention us, I was ecstatic! I was a cheerleader when we played DCA in the playoffs in 93 (when y'all beat us by 2 points at home and killed our state championship run) and again in 1994 when we beat DCA at your house (and went on to win the championship). Such a small world! I've just recently stumbled upon your comedy and have become a huge fan! Love these podcasts!
Loved this episode, but the story about Nate having the yips and Brian running back to first had me laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. I love this podcast!
Brian, I can relate to your stealing first base story. Same thing happened to me, I stole second and thought I heard the ump call foul. I casually started walking back to first base and the other team was so confused about what I was doing they didn’t even attempt to get me out. I made it back to first but never had to go any faster than a casual jog. The first base coach wasn’t even looking at me and didn’t notice either until I was back on first after he thought I was already on second.
In regards to Steve Carrell changing looks after season 1 of The Office, it was because of 40 Year Old Virgin. He did change looks quite a bit between 1 & 2 because he got tan & in shape for the movie. lol
Loved the "feeling like a celebrity" part! Back when Brian and Nate were in St. Louis, I texted Brian "hey don't forget about us in the upper deck" a couple of minutes before he went onstage and he replied. That was a cool experience. After that, Nate came out and was kinda good too even though he never accepted my friend request. I probably won't pay for the Nate VIP package when it becomes available.
Most embarrassing sports memories were both 8th grade basketball. I started and played most of the game of every game I’d ever played because I was the tall kid and pretty good. Once on a free throw, opponent shooting, I was on the low block and was super focused on boxing out their best player on the team. Shot goes up and I put on a clinic on how to box out on this kid. Jammed him up. The rebound comes towards me and I jump and snag it. I instinctually go right back up with the layup. At the opponent’s goal. Halfway into the putback, I realize what I’m about to do, so I deliberately shoot the ball way too hard off the backboard (rather than the logical solution of just not shooting and eating the traveling call.). The thing is; their best player was so confused by me trying to shoot on the wrong goal that he tried real hard to block my shot. I’m told from folks on the bench at the time that the coach turned and pointed at the backup center and just pointed and eventually said out, “What is he doing?” I was walking to the bench before he had even chosen my substitute. The very last organized basketball game I ever played at the end of the 8th grade tournament, I brought the wrong jersey to the away game. I took out the white jersey rather than my red jersey. My teammates thought I was joking. Once I convinced everyone that I had in fact brought the wrong jersey, we started looking for solutions. There was a 4th string center who never ever got to play a meaningful minute of basketball because he was not good. Nicest guy on the team but not good at basketball. He offered for me to wear his jersey. I accepted and thanked him. Someone else on the team said it was messed up for me to take his jersey despite the fact that he never played and would be wearing a warmup shirt on the bench. The team didn’t allow me to take his jersey. The final solution was for me to wear an unwashed reversible practice jersey in the game. Since a jersey has to have a number, the coaches ingeniously added a duct tape number one to the front and back of this smelly practice jersey. That’s how I went out. Like a hobo. I’ve always gotten straight A’s at all levels of school. In high school football, my coach once screamed as he ran towards me across the field, after I’d messed something up on the play, “YOU MUST BE THE DUMBEST SMART KID I EVER MET!” This is the same coach who yelled at a linebacker who couldn’t read the pulling guard correctly, by yelling, “You must be the dumbest linebacker to ever play football!” Then bent over and screamed into the kids butt, “Get your head out of there!”
Nate and the boys, thank you all for being a light in a dark world right now! I appreciate that y'all aren't using this platform to make a political statement or push an agenda, instead you're making us laugh again. I look forward to starting every Wednesday morning with the show. Keep up what you guys have been doing, and congrats on hitting the gym Nate!!
I've really enjoyed all 5 episodes, but especially love the part about wearing other teams jerseys to games. As a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, sadly I've seen way too many opposing teams mem--or--a--bilia being worn at our home games. Keep up the great work, Nate, Brian (Brad), and Aaron!
Backlogging through the pods and my jaw hurt from laughing at Byron's stealing 2nd story. Getting Nate to laugh that hard seems like a tall task. Love the pod, gets me through the workweek while stuck at home. Keep it up fellas!
I searched if Nate had a podcast after watching his Netflix special a few months ago and got no results. If RUclips didn't recommend it to me, I never would have known it exists now. One of the few times the algorithm has worked.
I know I’m way late to the party but I wanted to start watching your podcast from the beginning instead of jumping in on the current ones but I will say I’m 27, class if 2013 and I know sooooooo many people my age and a little older that use to do BOTH, the rubber bands and the shorts things when we were in high school religiously! Lol so don’t feel old because of those things, feel old because my mom was born in 77 and graduated in 95 and she’s already a grandma! Haha on a serious note you are my absolute favorite comedian, period! I saw you in Cleveland this past winter and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard! Keep up the good work! Take care!
I’ll be the one and only person that votes for more golf tournament or just golf in general talk... love the podcast tho and definitely love the sports talk!
Rewatching this episode after a clip popped up on my you tube feed and I am completely amazed qt Aaron's transformation. You all look better with age, even breakfast! I would love to see what was going on with Aaron's hair under that hat...love how much Brian's story has resurfaced over the last three years though! Keep up the good work!!!
i must really like the podcast when i watched the sports games episode and i don’t care much for sports games. “great work if i may say so sir. i almost finished the the whole thing” big fan of nates comedy and will check out aaron and brian’s stand up. cheers
Biggest sports moment: I got a hole-in-5… Was playing Ted Rhodes here in Nashville. Wasn’t playing great, but was on track to shoot mid 80s. (Ive never broken 80 before). I step up to the tee box on #15 (155 yard par 3) and shank a 5 iron into the water. Take a drop, shank the next one in the water again. I considered skipping the hole and driving straight to 16 but we were backed up a little so I tee’d up my 5th shot trying to prove to myself that the hole wasn’t better than me. I smoked it. two bounces and it went in. 5 on the scorecard. Best double bogey Ive ever gotten. I used to tell people I got a hole in one, but have since changed it to a hole in 5 after watching Nate’s episode with Erik Anders Lang about what is and what isnt a hole in one.
Enjoying the podcast thus far. Was happy to hear some swimming mentioned in there - often overlooked - but to help you sound a little smarter, Katie Ledecky and Regan Smith won't likely compete against each other because they swim completely different events. Katie swims primarily long-distance events and her challengers in the US are Leah Smith and Erica Sullivan. Regan Smith swims primarily backstroke events and finds her competition from Phoebe Bacon and Kathleen Baker. Both young ladies currently hold world records. Thanks again. It's good getting to know Bruce and that Grill guy, too.
This is how OK smoking was in the 70’s. I was a teen mom (killing it) and I smoked in my gynecologist’s office. He said that smoking while pregnant wasn’t horrible and it might just make the baby be smaller. Which, in my opinion, is a bonus. Small babies are easier to push out. So many C sections could be avoided if we could just get back to smoking while pregnant.
My teen mom was smoking while driving a car with me in the front seat (1960’s, I was 2 or 3). She slammed on the brakes and did the arm across the front of me in the passenger seat. She had the cigarette in her right hand and accidentally burned me with it. I asked if that when she decided to quit? She said no, but after that she was careful to always keep the cigarette in her left hand when driving.
Youth swim meet the 4x100 relay where each member swims a length of the pool. First member of the relay dives in and starts swimming down. I am supposed to go third, but I didn't know someone else comes back. So when the first person touched the wall at the other end I dove in and started swimming. I crossed my teammate mid pool and thought "wow she really screwed up". Great time, but we ended up on the wrong side of the pool.
You guys, the pod is great and really getting it's legs underneath it. As far as women bowlers go, the big difference is ball speed between them and the men which will largely impact striking. Also, oddly, not many women have adopted a two hand method where a good percentage of pro men do it. Check out Jason Belmonte to see what the new school looks like. That's a lot of bowling talk for a guy that doesn't even bowl. Keep it in the fairway Nate!
Most embarrassing sports moment was when I was on intramural softball league, I slid into first base. Afterward I was told 1) you’re not allowed to slide in this league and 2) you just run through first base....I also injured my knee badly. 🤦♂️
Hi Nate, you, Aaron and Bradley are doing a great job. I'm 58 years old and I wear my jersey to Rider games. Deep down I hope if they have enough injuries I might get into the game.
Had a penalty called on me for not having my mouthpiece in during a play. My qb had to point out to the ref that I had 2 mouthpieces (I had a bad tenancy to chew them up, so it was nice to have a spare). Ref had to announce it over the microphone as to why he was picking up the flag, which then got broadcast over the radio for the whole town to hear. Also vomited on the field after following my running back on a 94 yd. run. Wasn't even a lead blocker, just an o-lineman following the play. Big fan of you guys, love the buddy chemistry of the show.
Nate - there was an Ice Cube ad during this video, and I'm not sure what it was an advertisement for, but if you think about it, Ice Cube is helping pay your salary for this show. So that's a milestone. Maybe not for you, but it's someone's idea of success. Congrats!
So many of my childhood photos have adult members of my family smoking inside. Cars, stores, houses, e.t.c. hell I used to buy cigarettes for my parents as a little kid!
Great stuff guys, would be greater if Bob Ripplepants (we still doing this?) kept his mic about 3 inches further from his nose when he isn't speaking though, I keep thinking there's a train passing in the background. Also I think one of Nate's hands might be more orange than the other one, maybe golf with both gloves or no gloves? Aaron surprises me every episode with his variety of knowledge (chess champions?) & seems like the kind of guy that could really take a punch.
Funny to Greatest Sports Story: (As abbreviated as I can make it haha) Div. 3 Football Jr. Year To this point I have only played garbage time. We’re at home playing a top 15 team in the country. We’re just behind them in the rankings. Starting QB gets hurt just before half time during a two minute drill. I step in. Coach calls QB draw my first play to catch them off guard. I get 7-8yds but fumble. We get it it back. Coach decides they won’t expect it again so calls another QB draw. 7-8yds and another fumble but we get it back! No more QB Draws haha Coach calls a shotgun quick pass. My left tackle never even gets out of his stance until after the ball was snapped and the DE hits me so hard I’m pretty sure the top of my helmet hit my tailbone and I fumble again. Luckily the half ended right there. I think my football career is over as I’m limping back to the locker room. Turns out starter broke his ankle. We were up like 28-7 at this point. I go back out there and lose the lead through the 4th quarter. We’re tied at this point with under 2:00 left. Right before I go out for the last drive the starting RB basically threatens my life if we don’t win hahaha go out there and lead us to game winning field goal. Afterwards, I cried like a little girl because of the roller coaster of emotions I just went through for the past hour and a half... ended up leading us to a conference championship game, started came back in time for that and we lost. Yeah I’m not still bitter about that hahaha
Back when I was around 25 and working in CA, I worked with a guy who was only 3 or 4 years older. I had the pleasure of witnessing a MUCH older guy talk to him (everybody seemed older when you're in your 20's) ask my friend if they went to high school together. My friend is from Buffalo and I guess the older guy was too and I was shocked that my friend didn't even realize the older guy thought he was in his mid 40's because they were too caught up on talking about Buffalo. I did not pass up the opportunity to tease him for looking soooo old (which is not old now).
Nate that's awesome you're a 3 handicap. Can you talk about how you've progressed over the years, if you've gotten lessons, what your best skills are etc, and any advice you have for people who want to improve?
In high school, we were playing our cross-town rivals. I was playing shortstop and a runner from the other team was trying to steal second base, the batter hit a ground ball behind him to the first baseman, who just tagged first. The runner didn't see any of this and I told him that it was a foul ball. He proceeded to turn around and walk back to first base where the first baseman tagged him out for a double play.
I love you guys! I’ve listened to all 5 and till continue to follow you! I love to hear y’all interact, great chemistry! There is one thing that bothered the hell out of me in this episode, someone’s nose was whistling the entire episode lol.
I went to University of Kentucky in the early 1990s and my father graduated from UK in the early 1960s. The best football game I ever went to was in 2007 with my father when #17 ranked Kentucky upset the #1 ranked LSU in 3rd overtime.
I grew up in Huntsville, AL. The titans were the closest NFL team to me when I was old enough to pick a team to root for. That was the Air McNair and Eddie George days. I’ve been to many games, including losses, and I find a way to watch every game no matter where I am. Since I’m not from Tennessee, can I still say “we”?
Most frustrating sports moment is when an Ump cant swallow their pride and overturn their own initial ruling. We were playin a team tied 0-0 going into the last inning and we had 2 outs, our pitcher strikes out the last batter as someones stealing home but they still counted the run even though he struck out before the other kid crossed home. I still cant get over it.
My high school team lost when I threw a no-hitter. Our starting pitcher gave up 10 runs before recording the first out. My coach, who had a knack for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time then put me in. I went 6-2/3 innings with 1 walk, even picking off the only runner I walked. We lost 9-10.
This is 100% true. I was watching this podcast last night and experienced “Laughter-induced syncope”. Basically I fainted while laughing. It was when Brian was talking about his running between bases. I was laughing hard don’t get me wrong but I’ve laughed harder and stayed conscious. Going into the doctor tomorrow about it. Will keep you updated.
Brian Bates After unnecessarily over explaining to the doctor what podcasts are, his best guess it happened because my blood pressure was really high especially for my age. But they also got me on some new medicine that have really been helping so thanks for sending me to the hospital Brian!
Good thing I wasn't driving just now because I would've had to pull off the road when Brad was telling the story about having to steal back first. Classic.
i gotta say nashville fans are legit. I live in dallas and the preds played the stars in the winter classic in texas this year. It was in a packed cotton bowl stadium and nashville made up at least a 3rd of the crowd loud and proud all the way from tennesee. Great people too. Great fans
Sports highlight for me was during my last year of little league when I was a freshman in high school. I have a late birthday that was right at the league cut off date so I am pretty sure I was the oldest kid in the league and everyone else was in middle school. I remember at least twice I came to bat with the bases loaded and hit a bases clearing double. One of those times the pitch was at like eye level and I tomahawk'd it. I remember my dad was at one of the games and I was excited to get his reaction because I hadn't had any sports highlights like that in a long time. He said I hit it pretty far for only a double.
My friend used to wear basketball shorts under his other shorts or pants. In the winter he'd switch it up to sweatpants under his jeans, which I always thought was crazy. He graduated in 2010 so there.
What... the fuck. I showed your Netflix special to the girlfriend maybe a month ago and we love you. Can’t believe you have a podcast now. I can’t wait to show her when she gets home
My best sports memory is my last year of little league. I got beamed in the head early in the season so I was always afraid at the plate from then on. My dad told me I should try swinging before my last game since I was giving it up, and I actually got three hits. Still quit after that though. My most embarrassing memory is that same season - I had a ball hit to me in left field and decided to run it in rather than throw it. Everyone - teammates, coaches, parents, were yelling at me to throw the ball, but I ran it all the way to the first basemen. Bases were well clear by that point.
I know several people in the comments have already said it, but it bears repeating--you guys are great, and you get better every week. This is a very entertaining podcast. These fine gentleman dress like there's three different seasons going on inside the studio.
fall spring and hanukkah

This is the first time I’ve seen Nate really laugh about something. Hysterical.
Right? It was a great story on its own, but hearing/seeing Nate laugh so hard made it even funnier to me!
Loving this podcast. Brian's heat check and stealing 1st base stories had me in tears.

Nate Bargatze is dope and im glad he INTRODUCED us to these other gentlemen lol
I don’t even like sports, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this episode!
😋 👍❤️

I’m thinking a nateland T-shirt with Brian running back to first
Rofl
That was the greatest story I've ever heard. Lol
Brian’s whistle-nose is playin some means tricks on me, while I’m sittin outside at 4am. Got me all paranoid out here👀👃🏻
Also is it just me, but the first word Brian speaks it reminds me of Joe Rogan for a split second.
I also had a similar experience to Brian’s car break-in. Discovered this podcast and I'm now obsessed. Love every minute!!🇨🇦
I suppose it's due to the window reflection and glare, but really like the look in first podcast seeing the trees through the window. worth the reflection a few times.
I agree it looks cool, I think it mostly depends on the weather and how it will affect the lighting in the room

Hearing Nate laugh so hard that his voice got high pitched was a real treat
Absolutely love these 3 together.. great podcast
This is my new favorite podcast. Was pretty sure it was through 4, but needed that 5th one to verify.
Nate, please put out some more stand up material! I loved the Tennessee Kid but we need MORE!

Definitely would be interested in Nateland merch. 👍🏼😊
One of the best things about this episode is the money I saved on a training whistle for my dog. Thanks Brian!
Brian stealing second AND first is awesome! I thought Nate was gonna pee himself, he started the high-pitch laugh like Bert Kreischer does!
So glad to have this podcast to appease the fact that Nate hasn’t already been to our town for a show. Best comic out there.

Another game winner boys! I look so forward to Wednesday’s!
Love hearing all your stories.
I'm loving the podcast, makes my work drive so much better. I'm from KC and love the Big Slick weekends! Please come do a show in KC!!!
i must really like the podcast when i watched the sports games episode and i don’t care much for sports games. “great work if i may say so sir. i almost finished the the whole thing” big fan of nates comedy and will check out aaron and brian’s stand up. cheers
Biggest sports moment: I got a hole-in-5…
Was playing Ted Rhodes here in Nashville.
Crackle Crackle! Happy to see Nate with his own podcast!
That "Stealing First" story was amazing
Thanks for the hours of entertainment! Sad I couldn’t get to your show but this podcast has been just as good! Keep up the great work
Youth swim meet the 4x100 relay where each member swims a length of the pool.
Keep it in the fairway Nate!
this is exactly what I wanted to know, thank you
Most embarrassing sports moment was when I was on intramural softball league, I slid into first base.
Great show!
Gretzky was so dominant that if you took all his goals away, he would still hold the record for most points ever!
I rewatched the last 15 minutes about 10 times. Gold.
Congrats!
Killed me with that base stealing story. UNREAL 🤣💀
So many of my childhood photos have adult members of my family smoking inside. Cars, stores, houses, e.t.c. hell I used to buy cigarettes for my parents as a little kid!
Totally agree with the conversation on watching greatness. When Usain Bolt dominated the 100 and 200m distances, it was awesome to witness.
Nate is one of my favorite comedians..
Doncic moved from Slovenia to Spain (so Nate wasn't that far off) at the age of 13(!) to play professional basketball.
Brian: Did you know it was possible to steal 2 bases between 1st and 2nd? Lemme tell you how... 🤣🤣 GREAT story!
I love you guys! I’ve listened to all 5 and till continue to follow you! I love to hear y’all interact, great chemistry! There is one thing that bothered the hell out of me in this episode, someone’s nose was whistling the entire episode lol.
Apparently, that was me. Sorry about that. I thought it got better by the end but maybe not.
The intro is so much bigger than the actual show. Keep at it. 😉
I have replayed Brian's story about stealing first base so many times and I laugh until I cry every time.
I went to University of Kentucky in the early 1990s and my father graduated from UK in the early 1960s. The best football game I ever went to was in 2007 with my father when #17 ranked Kentucky upset the #1 ranked LSU in 3rd overtime.
Bates, I leave my car doors unlocked at all times because I'd rather somebody riffle through my Nothing than break a window.
Yall talked about Harvey Updyke and he actually died this week. Enjoyed the Huntsville show!
Nate, my wife and I saw you in Dallas during your last tour. Was wondering if that set was ever going to be streamable? Love the podcast!
Huntsville is close enough. We'll take you.
I still cant get over it.
great show. they keep getting better guys
We lost 9-10.
...and I just found out my wife gave away my cleats from that game.
I hope you're okay.
Brian Bates I’m good as far as I know, thank you. We shall see what the doctors say. Love the podcast, possibly far too much.
@@jaydens896 What did the doctor say?
Brian Bates After unnecessarily over explaining to the doctor what podcasts are, his best guess it happened because my blood pressure was really high especially for my age. But they also got me on some new medicine that have really been helping so thanks for sending me to the hospital Brian!
Good thing I wasn't driving just now because I would've had to pull off the road when Brad was telling the story about having to steal back first. Classic.
Nate’s hair is fantastic
Please do an entire episode just on "Brad's" sports moments!
Your ads are not like ads. It is part of ya’ll!
In a 3 year span, when I was 10, 11 & 12, I threw a no-hitter each year one being a perfect game! And that's about as far as my career went!
i gotta say nashville fans are legit.
Keep up the great content. You guys are great. Next time, introduce the dog.
I went to beauty school in Madison(TN) in 2003, and the customers could still smoke while we did their hair😂. It was an amazing place😂
My friend used to wear basketball shorts under his other shorts or pants. In the winter he'd switch it up to sweatpants under his jeans, which I always thought was crazy. He graduated in 2010 so there.
The here mister you can have my ball had me on the floor laughing
Those sports stories are hilarious. I once tried to steal a base while my teammate was already on 2nd base so I had to run back to 1st
Pete Rose in HOF. Totally agree, and this makes me like this podcast even more. :)
My favorite part is Brian’s nose whistle.
I was listening in the car and was like wtf is that noise! Lol his nose is right up in there
I was wondering who had the burger whistle.
What... the fuck. I showed your Netflix special to the girlfriend maybe a month ago and we love you. Can’t believe you have a podcast now. I can’t wait to show her when she gets home
would love a deeper dive on sports conspiracy theories or conspiracy theories in general
