I first heard this song on vinyl in 1971 when the album came out. I grabbed my acoustic guitar and tried to play along, but could never get it to sound quite right. Having baby blues myself, the song has haunted me ever since. Now I'm 69 and still picking. Today, while stuck at home during the pandemic, I finally got it down and I'm jamming away on it. BIG thanks to RUclips for sharing music and instructors videos. God bless y'all and keep you safe.
Why people think that Limp Bizkit's version is better than the original?
Come on, the LB version is slow, without the passion of the original one, like an emo shitty song and takes apart the chaotic finale: "When my fists clenches...", to make an innecessary scratching. This is the one, the only version. Period.

This is my favorite song by The Who. When I first heard this song back in the seventies, I automatically identified with it.

Loved this song long before the show, but when I hear this all I can think of is Sam pretending to burn The Book of the Damned, while Dean and Charlie kick some stein ass in that safehouse. Something about that scene always gets me, I feel it's a true embodiment of the Boys and their journey. The song just adds so much to this scene, without it I don't think they could have captured that feeling of two badass brothers fighting to the death for each other and the world, but sometimes deceiving one another along the way. The lyrics could even be interpreted to explain the secret battles they fight, very few know the anger, pain, and burden they carry while sacrificing a "normal" life to fight evils that most don't even know about.

Maybe I am the minority, but I have not heard Limp Bizkit's cover of 'Behind Blue Eyes' because The Who did such a great job conveying the passion & emotion behind this song & its lyrics. It cannot be improved upon in my opinion, so I have never even bothered with Limp Bizkit.
Also, I went with my wife, college roommate & his wife to the Rock & Rool Hall of Fame in Cleveland. They had Keith Moon's drum kit & some of the stage outfits that The Who wore on a tour in the 1970s.

The sad part is that the Rock & Roll HOF also had outfits from N'Synch (oops, I mean N' Stink) & Britney Spears. First of all they are NOT rock & roll, second of all, they do not belong in a Hall of Fame outside the Disney Channel. It is obvious that they donated those items hoping the HOF would display them, but the HOF should have burned them right on the sidewalk outside as part of a rock & roll promotion.
TheBengeance316 I agree but they represent the fact that even if it isn't obvious rock n roll has inspired modern pop stars significantly. similarly to how they have the exhibit in the beginning with the old time blues musicians like howlin wolf whom were also not rock music but were a huge part in forming it. the exhibits show the whole span of rock from its influences throughout what it itself has inspired

Another incredible song by Pete Townshend who wrote such beautiful songs about his homosexual feelings - it's pretty obvious now. but, who cares if he was gay or not anymore? The times and our modern culture is different, but Peter's feelings are still blasting white hot with his inner turmoil all these years later.
