    the old Minelab Explorers had a 2D chart (ferrous on the horizontal - conductivity on the vertical) - i never used the numbers - I wish they could make the chart take up most of the screen like it used to....

      I have done very well with mine here in Canada finding old silvers and coppers even on hard hit areas. I thoroughly recommend it, you do not have to wander to far from the factory settings they are so good but you have lots of ability to tweek it should you need to. H.H. 😉

      I had the same problem but didn't want to replace my beloved ctx. I also didn't want to miss the geohunt, findpoint and waypoint functions. The Minelab Pro-Swing 45 was the solution. Now I'm annoyed that I didn't buy the Pro-swing years ago. really recommended. 🤠

    Great short video Kris. I’m loving my Manticore. I’m using the 2D trace as additional information but I gotta admit, I’m obsessed with it. I love the way you can circle a target changing the iron trace until you can isolate a good target. 👍🏻

    It's a ridiculous price over my 5 year old (second hand then) Nox800.... but Black Friday resulted in me accidentally buying a Manticore with free pointer... hopefully wife won't notice it's new..
    I'll tell her it's a new shaft and display.

      @mmarch2978 Jury is still out as to whether I have found more 'stuff' but I've certainly 'digged' less. In fact, despite the hefty price tag, I am so impressed with the machine. The software and interface is a joy, the build is spot on and they've somehow made it better balanced and/or improved the ergonomics.. which the 800 was awful.

      @@dardobartoli Thanks for your interesting and informative reply. It really helped me define the difference between the two machines so it is probably worth the extra when I have the money.

    I think the truth is that the change in inductance in the coil rather than purely the target conductivity is what we are reading. In turn this is a measure of the target's eddy current strength induced. Tending to be higher in conductive metals. The caveat is that they're also however stronger it seems on smooth radiused edges and weaker where thickness drops below about 2mm due to some reverberation off the rear surface. The other thing to bear in mind is that the purity of iron ranges as much if not more than the ranging of conductivities in non ferous metals conductivities so that a barely magnetic Rusty nail with a round top would generate Eddy currents of a magnitude closer to some other metal much further up on our scale. At range the numbers become even more arbitrary so maybe the extra power of the manticore is able to i.d better further, if u get my meaning. Dave

    • @66DMJC
      @66DMJC Год назад

      What you've shown is a really clever aspect however above and beyond previously making the decision about ferrous/non ferous based on I d number alone. Says to me it's processing nuances better albeit artificially (normally previously performed by ones brain ). Would love to know if a jaggered and thin small hammered enters the ferous bar on the l.c.d ever

    Hey up. These manticore vids don't help me in the least. Have had my equinox 900 for about 2 months. Great machine but you are making the manticore look pretty tasty. Like a.bowl of mushy peas. 😅 I watch too much Last of the Summer Wine.

    • @brokenarrowoutdoors2467
      @brokenarrowoutdoors2467 Год назад +1

      I wouldn’t waste your money on one if you already have a 900. I had a 800 and bought the manticore. The 2D screen does help and it doesn’t. If for instance there is a coin and a rusty nail close in the same hole the screen will bleed into ferrous lines but sometimes it will do that with just a nail with large head on it. The worst part is it sounds good also. I’ve dug just as many bad targets with manticore as I did with 800. I mainly pay attention to sound first then go from there. I still dig a ton of square nails here in Ohio with it. The update I personally think is useless. I’ve got a test garden with nails buried with coins and it will mask the coins with filter turned on. And the red numbers, well it already did that with just a line under it. They need a update for their update 😅

      @@brokenarrowoutdoors2467 thanks for the comment. I do believe minelab needs to fix some of the bugs in the Manticore or I would have bought one instead of the nox900. Thanks.

    So basically dig everything.

    • @Addictedtobleeps
      @Addictedtobleeps  Год назад +3

      No, not at all 😂
      This is a simplified example. It gets a little more tricky out on the field, but no - don’t dig items in the ferrous zones.
