What helped me after years of pain is eccentric training (lowering the heel on a stair). Start slowly, up until 3x50 reps per day (50 in morning /noon/evening). After strength increases with more and more load (backpack). The tendon will get bomb proof after some months. But it is a long process. I found that continuing the run training was beneficial if the pain the day after was not more than 3 of 10. Plus I switched to forefoot trail running in barefoot shoes. Also important to start slowly with barefoot trail running, but it's very good to strengthen the whole foot system.

Superb thanks Seb - the running sling thing looks like a more accessible version of an Alter G running treadmill which I’ve found to be a 10/10 body weight can be revived to almost nothing - so running volume increases without the loading of the calf or achillies. I was laying £25 a session - and considering the thousands I’ve spent - this could very well be the best value for money

Interestingly after 4 years my issue has been identified (we think) with the aid of an awesome physio not to be an achillies or calf problem rather the problem is hip instability making the calf and ankle having to work super hard to compensate and overloading

Very informative and helpful. I have been plagued by achilles issues for years. I have found that PRP and/or stem cell injections directly into the tendon and followed with 8-10 weeks in a walking boot to be the only solution.

For me all these new Foam Shoes like the 1080 are bad for my achilles.
The moment i went back to the neutral, classic shoes it was way better. When i used the 1080s again, the issues got worse (tried it 3x , now i am sure about it).
I think all these rebound shoes, even the slight ones, put extra stress on the system and therefore i dont train with them anymore.
All the best Sebi - i really hope, you will have fun and success in 2022 with some more races. You deserve it.
And of course - all the best to Tine and the young one 😁👍

great video - thanks and good luck with your healing process, as there is no achilles b.
any experience with what excercise is the best substitute for running (except that hanger) - eg. is elipitical machine any helpful, or rowing, or cycling is enough?

Thanks for sharing your information about your disease, Sebi. That's not common.
I'm also grinding my teeth during nights but there is a improved tooth splint with a block under the upper splint which breaks the habits of grinding.
Has an operation ever been an option or opportunity?
I have a long disease with the peroneus tendon which lead to a second operation.

I had a torn ( not ruptured ) Achilles’ tendon, I had a PRP procedure and then PT, I was back running in 3.5 months with no pain, That was 6 years ago, You need to look into PRP

I had the same problem. Also the tendence going up the side of my ankle and shin. All at the same time. I could hardly walk up stairs. I got massage oil and rubbing at least 2 times a day. I could feel all these nuts on my tendence and muscles. It weeks to get running again. But I am running. Still bothering me a little

    • @hugogaly4190
      @hugogaly4190 Год назад

Same for me the tendency that it goes on the side. 2 years since I had pain for the first time. Now the pain is completely different than at the beginning. I am even wondering if it is the achilles tendon that is painful now whereas before it was clearly the achilles tendon. I had severe pain and felt very tight in the morning. Any newa on your side ? :)

My problem with eccentric calf rises is that they make my calves very tight, expecially the firs sessions. Maybe i have weak calves...but what i want to avoid is running on tight calves.

    Super stuff,
but first- please work on your position- because- it s all about position- and then all about perfect movement-
34.49 what about your knees, chicken neck....you stand up like a.......not like a pro, not like a athlete, not like Jan Frodeno...
Put away Flip Flop shoes, your big toes doesn t like this and so your movement is limited
    all the best
