  • So it’s official, The Ironman World Championship has been postponed to February 2022…
Although disappointed by the news, we keep going full steam ahead into what remains of race season! Kona camp may be cancelled, but Kona will still come eventually 🤞🏻
We still have a couple of A-races on the horizon- The Collins Cup in Slovakia, followed by 70.3 World champs In St.George, Utah for Lucy, and 70.3 Augusta for Reece!
Time to re-focus, re-adjust the training plan, and swim, bike, run our way through It!

I love where you heads are at guys. Humble and also self aware.
    Big fan 👍
Would love to see a training plan that you guys follow, particularly the gym work and running. I could never achieve what you guys do but like to think I have the will to train almost as hard, relatively speaking.
Basically I want to copy you so I can look like Reece 😅

I just got the email too, what a croc. Oh well!!!! Lucy, you look really fit for any race. You and Reece should swing on by Boulder for real altitude training. 6,000 ft starting and then up to 8,000ft in less than 1 hour on a bike. Excellent trails for run training. Bring the Noise! Slainte!

Glad you have found alternatives to the planned program. I know how important scheduled training is. I do not support these things that mess around with professional athletes like yourself. We know you and all the other athletes are healthy and can race in October. Respect.

It seems a bit pessimistic but I think the move to February is just a delay tactic and it will actually take place next October instead. A nearer month like February just softens the blow a little. The same as last time I guess....

6:00 - as an alternative to 6 weeks in Kona, how about 4 weeks in Jan/Feb in one of the other Hawaiian islands? Or perhaps in the Caribbean? South Africa? If you can get in, New Zealand in January would be perfect. Also: consider getting an iron distance race under your Lucy’s belt after St George: Barcelona would be ideal - it’s only 6 days before Kona was originally scheduled …

@@charlotteh8174 That's like saying the science is quite definitive on the efficacy "food" or "medication" or anything that contains a wide variety of various options. There are absolutely masks that are very effective against covid spread, and a lot of people wear those masks. Sure many wear masks that are not very effective, but generalizing that and concluding that therefore masks do not work is very lazy.

Nope. Regular strength training. She does resistance workouts more often than most endurance athletes.. and now I don't get why the others don't follow her example. It makes ya faster... so much faster. A lot of the speed bottle neck lies in how rigid our frame is ... and that is taken care of with strength training only.

the island of kona is the hardest place in the world to get to, having people from all over the globe needing multiple stop over flights to get there. easier to put on the event somewhere central like europe or america mainland.
plus florida is very open and hasnt cancelled anything. they also have had no signficant difference in performance against other USA states with covid deaths. its actually been better than many strict states.
