What a legend, this mans voice in a WT trailer is the reason I installed war thunder & have played it as long as I have, this video was great, I may be bias as a British man, but war thunder know all about bias so thats ok, its accepted here... ;-)
Edit: Also well done Gaijin for allowing Bruce to tell his Fathers story to so many, to many stories from those we owe so much to are being forgotten, but Bruces fathers story gets to live on 👍
Grants plane should be a premium or event vehicle.
Only premium plox xd , in reality as first event and for one year as premium
I support this suggestion
Aye sir.
I am agree, but the profits will have to go for the veterans associations ;-)
I don't think he was a pilot, just the mechanic, so that would not work.
Man, I love this game, and it's awesome to just hear older folks talk about their experiences or that of their parents. There's a life that lights up in their eyes when they have an audience that cares.
They only thing I'd disagree with us experiencing what real pilots experience. Not because of a technical issue, but the nature of online games. You have the few that want to work as a team and keep the history alive, but an overwhelming amount of people bitching about historical vehicles not being built to serve gamer needs or whining when the team isn't listening to their stupid orders. I'd love the ideal war thunder they imply at the end, way more then the current one, but I wonder if at the end of the day it is possible to reach such goals.
(Also, having a more realistic grouping of vehicles and proper missions that don't feel like a gladiator arena would help.)
I think playing a warthunder with a full dive gear is possible its just that our current tecnology and scientists are still in progress on making it.
The ideal war thunder would be like the reenactment events PhlyDaily does
@@amychan811 full dive would be the best thing to ever happen to War Thunder for me. Especially if they add cockpit interactions and not only just playing the game but in a simulator way play the Battle of Berlin, Battle of Stalingrad, or Midway. Not just as events but to actually see what it was like to be a pilot during that time while also reliving an extremely historical battle that was the turning point of the war
Bruci boi should voice the British tech tree vehicles
Change my mind
He really should
I would fcking pay for that!!!

Excellent! My great-grandfather also fought in North Africa, we have his photos with the Pyramids in Cairo, and his pistol that he “Acquired from an Italian tank commander who no longer needed it.” Really cool to see the backstory behind you and your father Bruce, and I would be pleased if more content like this could be made! 👍🏼
your father did big things in the RAF but you are doing big things in War Thunder, someday many persons are going to hear your voice of the histories from your father. Nice Video Bruce and War thunder.
When he said "He is my father" my jaw dropped and thaught "well he is living up to his job"!
This might been one of the greatest things I’ve seen, I wanted to cry ;w;
Me too
SHAME on war thunder for not giving us the hurricane big Grant fixed as a premium, we don't even need bumped values, let it be a normal hurricane with a fixed propeller, I would buy it and feel very proud. It could be absolutely wholesome for the community and sooo huge respect towards Bruce who definitely deserves it.
the brittish version of Morgan Freeman, absolutely love you
But... Aint morgan british too?

o7 Bruce Grant, you are truly a great storyteller. Keep up the great work War Thunder.
Great story Bruce! So much respect for the brave men fighting in Africa, My great uncle fought in Burma as a forward air observer for the RAF, acting as the officer who called in Arty and CAS. He had some interesting story's too. For Queen and Country! o7

Please do more of these, War stories are getting rarer and rarer as the generation passes on. They're always great stories and life lessons. I'm glad I pestered my great grandparents about their stories, they're all amazing.
Thank you for sharing your families history with us. My grandfather was an armorer on Halifaxes and Lancasters in WW2, this is the first game I've played where those aircraft are flyable.
Sometimes a game is more than just a game.
I love the hurricane. They are so overshadowed by the Spitfire, but don’t get the love they deserve. I developed a love for them when I learned of the legendary 303rd RAF, still my favorite squadron. They are beautiful yet slow, elegant for their age. I love Hurris.
Yeah they were slow, but once you got some altitude to work with, it could nearly match the Spitfire in maneuverability and was superior to the 109 in that sense (but the 109 was 40mph faster and could outdive it).
The first delivery of Hurricanes in Russia were briefly flown by British pilots as they were sent in via carrier, to Murmansk, to protect Russian bombers, and when the Germans encountered them (this was long after the Hurricane having been deemed obsolete) the Germans were taken completely by surprise and got lit up.
The Russians obviously didn't like them all that much, but quite a few Russian aces actually made their debuts in them and were able to put in a largely decent effort (for what they were flying).
On a few planes they also removed many of the Browning .30 cal's, and installed Russian SHvaK cannons or 12.7's, of course the cannon mods deteriorated a lot of what little performance the Hurricane had but it considerably upped the firepower, I wish we could have a couple of these in War Thunder (one with cannons and .30 mix, one with 12.7's and .30 mix).
The Hawker Hurricane was actually the reason Britain won air superiority. 70% of the air kills made by the RAF was made by the Hurricane. Its a beauty of an aircraft too
@@GREYWOLF.JG52 hurricanes mostly killed bombers, not fighters
This is the most beautiful and heart felt video i have ever come across on this channel. I thank your dad for his service, and i thank you, Bruce Grant, for carrying on his memory and love of aviation. His perfection has rubbed off on War Thunder through you.
Incredible story Bruce, how does it feel to be part of history in a way
Bruce Grant huge new respect for you, way more. I got very emotional over this story
Simply amazing story Bruce, this is almost a natural fit for you to narrate and such for War Thunder considering the family tie in and all. I truly believe that your voice and presence carry through to make your commentary exceptionally stirring and somewhat comforting. Yours is a unique match and I'd venture to say almost a perfect match for "The Shooting Range" and other interesting items such as this! Carry on Sir and I wish you good luck and good health for this New Year of 2020!!!
Wow, his father is badas
Lovely story I have so much respect for you and your family and what your Dad has done during his time in the RAF
When he said "he is my father" I inmediately stopped what i was doing and started to listen.
That was next level unexpected
I'd like to hear more stories that the War thunder staff have to offer.
May the Grant legacy continue for many years, thank you Bruce, for all the work you've done all this time, but most importantly, thank you, dad.
Absolutely perfect ..... thank you for this .. it was beautiful
When you use flex tape to fix planes
NOW THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE
I BROKE THIS BLADE IN HALF

Well he did say plane's were made of paper and glue
Bruce, after over two years, still my favorite episode.! Thank you so much.
This was awesone! Thanks for sharing memories!
2 years ago I had a situation where I had to fight 109s over the Rhine in a B-17 with no escort. It was hard but Alone 109 stood beside me and just watched. I guessed he ran out of ammo but he still had ammo cuz two P-51D-5 showed up to take some fighters off me but in the end, we lost the match but man I felt how those the airmen felt in the B-17s and how scared they were. It was fun, emotional and scary at the same time. It gets your blood flowing that's for sure.
I love stories like this (and Bruce Voice), im speechless I had tears flowing down as I watched this. Great story Bruce !
your voice is perfect.
Awesome Content and the fact Bruce has a Connection with WWII through his Father! Amazing! Bravo!
You have a voice to match David Attenborough, and your father’s story is amazing
Bruce Grant. Bless you're father sir
We need more of these. This ones really awesome and it would be nice to hear more stories like these narrated by Bruce Grant.
this is cool to know that the son of a plane out of WWII and his son can tell his story

OMG IS THAT BRUCE IN REAL LIFE!
Bruce Grant omg is that you?!!
@Bruce Grant came here from the Halloween shooting range
Very good video... Hope you are doing well and one question; do you play War Thunder?
Best narrator of the year award goes to Bruce!!
Bruce, thanks to your dad for serving. my GPA was ground crew with the black sheep squadron in WWII. such incredible stories from the men and women of aviation squadrons, and because of those stories is what drove me to play this game. in honor of what your dad did to aid the war we all should fly hurricane mk II b this weekend!! (not like its my favorite low tier British plane or anything anyway!!!)
You worked in that crew?
Your grandpa and father either had kids very young or you are old.
@@thesauceguy1809 haha my dad and grandpa both had kids young.
Makes sense then I guess.
This is by far my me of the best videos I have ever watched.
@Bruce D.R. Grant:
Thank you for the narrations! I'm hoping you would build your own webpage to feature your works. Much like another Voice-Over man does named: *Gene Galusha* ; someone who's voice is used on: *"War and Pece in the Nuclear Age"* . If I can finally get the *T.A.R.D.I.S.* working, I'm gonna' go help your father! I just wonder how would Churchill react if a few 'Mountains' of Cobalt, Titainium, Steel, Copper, Magnesium, and Aluminium Ingots & I-beams suddenly showed up on some fields throughout the Midlands!?! *_:D_*
One of the best videos I've seen from this channel, more please.

This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed I was on the verge of tears and I know it sounds stupid but the way you describe things was great and sir I appreciate your father and everything he did for his country thank you from the bottom of my heart and to every part of my being appreciate you and your father may his soul rest in peace
Awsome story this will be a next great show for warthunder . I like war stories please get more people like bruce to tell warstories of their fathers .

Wonderful to hear such a great story! Flight sequences that were shown were quite well done! More like this!
A very moving and interesting personal page of history. Thank you for sharing.
Douglas passed away the day I was born, That sent me for a loop at the end there...
reincarnation?
I never met your dad, never even heard of him until today, but, my word Im glad I got the privilege of hearing about his war stories. Carving a new half prop blade by hand so its balanced and weighted well enough to keep from shaking itself to pieces at 1000's of rpm? That is hero level in my eyes, what a legend!
Thank you for taking the time to record this so the tales can be preserved for future generations to learn.
I have to agree with him, war thunder has done a great job on the graphics and the sound of the game. To be honest, when I play I'll duck and lean in my chair because I think I'll get. I almost fell out of my chair one time. I enjoy the game so much. Thank you.

That what i did when i started playing CS:GO, i guess it does happen to everyone who starts playing shooter games for first time, after some weeks it will go away.
That an awesome history, thank you very much bruce, for sharing it!!
I’ll never look at any of these vids the same again
This is the most wholesome video Gaijin has ever made
it's funny how his friends found it funny that his father was about to get killed because of his parachute
That's War I guess. Death is so common it becomes the butt of jokes

I wish that these war hero's wouldn't have such a short life afterwards so that they could share their point of view and stories to the younger generations.... but as long as their children can pass on their story so long will they be remembered
What a great story! I listened to this while i was in my Hurricane mk llb! Thanks a lot of another great episode.

pls do this more
i have a stories about one of my relatives who was in egypt during that period.
i'm italian and i love this kind of video, you father was more than great bruce...
There should be a premium aircraft for your dad
British Morgan Freeman! Also, my mother's various uncle's served in the war effort. They all lived through the war due to the color of their skin, resulting in their jobs being to taxi planes onto the airstrip, clean and do small repairs aboard a destroyer, and be a triple nickel (black paratroopers) I only got to meet one but by the stories I've been told they were amazing people, all of them. My grandfather lucked out and wasn't drafted due to his knee, which was slightly deformed at birth resulting in a permanent limp. Either way, I wish you the best of luck and a good long life! Long live bruce!
This put a true smile in my face. Great to put a face to the voices of thundershow. I love the story! This was amazing and so touching!
We love you bruce!
could you perhaps say double kill and unfrigginbelievable sometime?
Almost a year from this awesome video ;)
"He is my father" HOOOO MY GOD I LOVE YOU MAN.That voice too,I can only dream of it.
As the founder of the (Less We Forget) foundation "still in its infant stage" your father is a unsunged (unknown) hero.
My foundation's purpose is to keep the stories of veterans who are (forgotten, K.I.A, unknown, retired, and passed away from natural causes) alive.
The is because I am a 2018 graduate and we aren't being taught about war events basically we have to teach ourselves on the subject.
All veterans are passing away every year without their stories being shared and that's what my movement is about.
Why am I crying? :(
Because your brain realizes that you will also die some day
I'm just wondering who disliked this. Such a wonderful video!
hopefully you keep making these Thunder Stories
