Dan Hartman was a great singer, songwriter, and overall musician-Performer. I saw him live in the Edgar Winter Group, he was on Bass with Ronnie Montrose on Guitar, He wrote Free Ride and live when it came time to sing lead he switched from Bass to Guitar. The band were great.
Summer of 1986 I sang this in a cover band I was in. Number of ways to look up song lyrics in 1986: one - buy the album, and even then there was definitely no guarantee they would be included! So if we didn't know, we just made it up!
I saw them just after Calm Animals came out at a small place. It was really good. We got there early for dinner so we could sit close and all of sudden Cy Curnin walks through the dining area and upstairs to the dressing rooms and said hello on his way.
