I'm a fairly solitary creature by nature, but the shots of that gray ocean, the fog, no horizon to be seen gave me as lonesome, hopeless & heavy a feeling as I've ever known. It took me "back in time" and made me wonder how many men have stood looking forlorn into that gray nothing with a heavy burden on their souls? Hats off to you sir, I couldn't do this if I tried.
As a land lover with a fear of the open ocean I salute any and every sailor brave enough to face the sea. From lowly solo sailors to Navy sailors I respect it.

Your lifestyle is fascinating. I don't know where I went wrong that I ended up working from a home office. I should be doing something extraordinary like you! Cheers 🥂
What a great storyteller you are, Alan. Thank you. I watched this a couple of days ago and then binged about the last 20 episodes. Great job bringing us along. Cheers!
I keep a visual watch , usually every 15-20 minutes at night and less frequently during daytime hours. I also have an AIS receiver built into my VHF that alerts me to shipping in my immediate area.
The ocean is actually not as small as you might think! And most shipping takes place on fixed shipping routes so outside of those the chances are pretty slim.

I love the minimalism of this boat , if you’re ever short of a topic I’d love to know in costs and study what it takes to enter the hobby in a non ambitious way.
That is awesome! It's more a question about your physical and mental condition than age. One of the best sailors I know is in his mid 70's and still enjoying ocean sailing

Thanks for he comment. Concerning the heater, over the 11.5 months of the voyage, I only needed it for the last few days. Most of the time was either very pleasant or I needed an air conditioner.
