How to install peel and stick tile over linoleum

- This project was the realization of a dream... I've always wanted a checkered kitchen floor and I'm so happy to finally have it. We aren't experts but we couldn't be more thrilled with how this project turned out. This was so economical because we were literally able to lay the new floor right on top of the old floor and reuse the quarter round!
I chose peel and stick because our kids are rough, and I know from our time living in apartments that you can just replace damaged tiles and the rest of the floor gets to stay put. This is a huge cost savings, so make sure to buy extra now for whatever happens down the road :-) I also chose a marble pattern over a flat black and white so that the pattern could hide the inevitable stains and scratches.

Really nice to see a family bonding session. Floor tiles look great too. Your kids have a super mom, a lot learnt, a lot .🌻
🎉🎉🎉you did great job its beautiful ❤️❤️ oh & your daughter ✅
How is it holding up? Can you give us an update?
Great job, mom, for teaching your daughter how to be self-sufficient. love it
Thanks Laurie :-) She really was invaluable to the process and I haven't edited the video yet, but she helped me with the living/dining room too!
Wow great looking floor. Big change from the old floor. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for sharing...gives me confidence that i can do it
For the information without all the math. I will give this a definite try.
I hope you have a successful project. What room are you DIYing???
use tsp to wash linoleum floor with before laying peel and stick
I've never used tsp. I'm guessing it does a good job... and probably would have saved me a lot of scrubbing haha!
What's tsp
How is it holding up as love to know as looking to do this my self many thanks
I luv your style! Heehee you think like me!!
How is it for dirt showing up on it? I love these floors too, but I read online where people said the white shows all the dark dirt and the black shows all the light dirt. Is this your experience? Or does the marbling help hide a little dirt?
What did you clean it with? Mine won’t stick
Love the design. How's it holding up so far?
It's holding up fabulously I we've been here a year now. There are some tiles that the barstools haven't been kind to, but that's my bad because I didn't put felt on the bottom. So definitely put something on the bottom of stools/chairs/tables etc that are going to have a lot of weight on them. The beauty is that I can just rip out four tiles (if I care enough) and it's all like new again haha! My kids are rough and I honestly expected more damage by this point!
Thanks for the video! I’m interested in doing this but I’m in a rental. Will the peel and stick tiles damage the linoleum when I remove them later on? I’ll need to leave the apartment in it’s original state when we move out someday. Thanks!
I definitely wouldn’t do that. Peel and stick tile doesn’t come up easy
I’ve laid contact paper down in the area under the tile, then installed these on top. Works like a charm!
We laid these down in our toilet....they look great....only problem is they are slippery when you are barefeet. We are yet to do the bathroom, laundry and kitchen. Is there anything you can paint on re: clear with grit. Help needed please.
We use a non slip rug
Where did you get your tiles at. I really want to do my kitchen
These were from home depot. They've held up very well, and my children aren't gentle haha!
@@modernhomemakerswhat brand?
How are they holding up so far?
The floors still look amazing! The fake marble pattern does a great job at hiding dirt and such. Extremely easy to clean, and although I haven't had to replace any tiles yet I find it comforting to know that I can if one ever gets really messed up.
It's pretty, but my ocd is kicked in, and I can't help but see all of the grain is going in different directions
