He's a bit of a liar. Biden's win was not clean. It was the first president to win solely from mail in ballots, and the United States has never in its history had enough mail in ballots to win a presisdency. There are many issues in how voting laws were changed. Georgia took weeks to count their ballots. Arizona had voting machines go down in red areas. Far from a clean election. There were many issues that people had with it. But the government says it's the most perfect election ever. Which for most people gives us all reason to pause.
Okay, first kudos to cameraman who got that shot of Meacham listening to Adkins. I have another level of respect for that man. It almost brought me to tears😢. That is a portrait of empathy and intelligence that unfortunately is so rare right now in this country. It’s ppl like Jon Meacham that inspire you to be a better person. ❤

This was a good overtime, I really appreciate the view points from all of them and it wasn't just a shouting match or argument. This was one of the best "overtimes" I've ever seen. Every person made me deliberate about my views. I love intelligent conversation. I know people think you should not talk about religion and politics but I learn so much when I do with people who are willing to discuss it and listen to each other.

This is a discussion that should be shown in high school history classes across our nation. This is what thoughtful debate and discussion about the direction of our country is all about. Everyone in this Overtime has thoughtful and valuable opinions and expresses their point well. And most of the comments from viewers about this Overtime and episode are particularly respectful and insightful and should be considered by our youngest minds coming of age also. Teachers alert! This is a great Overtime and episode for American schools, and any other country experimenting with democracy.
Wanna know why this was such a great show? Neither Jon nor Trace felt a need to shout. They both appreciated the conversation. And I think their demeanor kept Bill in check. And we are the beneficiaries. Well done, gentlemen.

This was really fantastic. I’ve always loved Meacham but Trace had me on every word. The intellect in that beautiful voice and the way John leaned in to listen intently to Trace’s words was lovely to watch.
Meacham has had major influence on Biden's speeches- how can he not be asked about the Independence Hall speech. If he didn't help write it, what did he think of it (since it certainly seemed more divisive than inclusive) .Big oversight.

Bill Maher has turned into a Fox News host. Trump entered politics claiming he had "proof" that the black president came from Africa. He attacked Muslims and promised to kill families, to turn them on. Trump didn't say this shit before becoming a politician. He said it BECAUSE these were already their core beliefs. Republicans aren't good people. They never were. They didn't support Trump despite his character. It's all he had going for him. He had no unique policies - he spent four years watching TV and live tweeting.

It was the first president to win solely from mail in ballots, and the United States has never in its history had enough mail in ballots to win a presisdency. There are many issues in how voting laws were changed. Georgia took weeks to count their ballots. Arizona had voting machines go down in red areas. Far from a clean election. There were many issues that people had with it. But the government says it's the most perfect election ever. Which for most people gives us all reason to pause.
Okay, first kudos to cameraman who got that shot of Meacham listening to Adkins. I have another level of respect for that man. It almost brought me to tears😢. Values are so different all over the US for a variety of reasons and to think that one federal government for 350 million people is workable is ludicrous. The two parties are so vastly different that even if I don't agree with the establishment wing of the Democratic party on some policy, I'm not going to endorse a Republican policy or vote for them. It's not going to happen as long as we have so many Americans willing to believe conspiracies and elect the likes of Trump. Seriously, people I know have taken leave of their senses and were willing to ditch this country's Constitution for one authoritarian named Donald Trump. It's why I am retiring out of the country. These intellectual exercises are meaningless if our institutions are destroyed.

This isn't what I remember. The America I remember is considered raysist. Anytime they remake the I.P. i grew up on, they have to take out all the White people and everything that made it good. I don't understand why progressives are being all introspective now when the time for that was 6 years ago. Do you think you can undo the past 6 years with a "gee wiz, maybe everyone aren't Nazis after all"? The progressive idea of bringing America together involves 1) taking no accountability for their abuse of their disproportionate institutional power 2) moralizing about how off the rails the Right has been and how it's only sensible they atone for their sins so we can move past this awful chapter of our history 3) punitively lashing out at the rest of the nation when we don't buy your bullshit.
