  • A quick review of new Dell G15 Ryzen Edition gaming laptop.
    There isn't much information out there about this laptop and the Dell website isn't the best with specifics so I tried to cover specs that might be hard to find.
    I kind of like that it's a budget version of the Alienware. Down to the Alienware logo shown on the motherboard. Good performance to price ratio in my opinion.
    No benchmarks or gaming tests as I'm not really a laptop reviewer and have nothing to compare with, but I can say that I'm happy how well games run on the laptop screen, but am especially happy with the performance on an external monitor.
    Enjoy!

    The NVME bracket works! Well, you have to bend the wings a little bit but you can do it with no tools as long as you're careful. Here's the link to Amazon US: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XVWCR9X
    If you're not in the US or Amazon doesn't ship to you try looking for this part number: PXNWV

      I like this color a lot but that would be a preference thing. My office is mostly whites and grays so this matched better too. In the US it’s only this color or a green one for the Ryzen edition. The keyboard/trackpad deck has to be pressed hard to flex at all but the screen/top panel is a lot more delicate. During normal use you shouldn’t notice any flex.

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  3 года назад +1

      It’s a small impact. Only like 5-10% according to people who have tested multiple laptops. Basically the only way to know is see if it’s in the bios or in software.
      Good news is that Dell just released a bios update TODAY that apparently adds mux via Advanced Optimus. I haven’t tried it yet but definitely going to test it.

    • @Loaded0

      Alienware Command Center handles the keyboard lighting. Some models only have the orange backlighting though which doesn’t have any lighting affects. There is a setting in the bios, but it’s just for how long the light is on for.
      Right after turning on the laptop press F2 repeatedly and the bios will load. Hope that helps.

      If you got the 16GB it should be fine for a while, but if you still want to replace it get 3200mhz SODIMM ram. A kit with 2 or buying 2 of the same kind will give you better performance. Also lower latency Ram will better but can cost quite a bit more.

      This will be a lot less portable than an XPS but much better for games. Also to add to temps response that’s with the fans intentionally on. Temps will slowly creep up even on idle if fans are off. The default thermal setting turns fans on only when it reaches a certain temp.

      It does seem higher than normal. Mine used to go up to around 70 while doing little and as you saw in the video went up to 98 with a little Warzone. I can tell you that mine has gotten better somehow though. Either it was new drivers or updates or maybe it was doing the reset of Windows. • @Loaded0

      Dell calls this a Wide Viewing Angle display. Not sure exactly what that is but TN panels usually have really bad viewing angles so this probably isn’t TN. Maybe the 120hz variant is but this 165hz one is actually very nice.
      Also some people are complaining about short battery life, but if you watch any reviews we’re all getting 9-10 hours. It’s also pretty much the same internally as the Alienware R5 and even those reviews say about 10 hours.
