Marvin used to give me guitar lessons when I was a teenager. He really is a humble, compassionate, caring man who loves guitar and life. I had the pleasure of playing with both Marvin and Marcus in their church's coffee house on a couple of occasions back when Marcus was like 10-11 years old. He was always so quiet and meticulous about his playing. I'm super proud the musician he has become. What a stellar artist both Marcus and the legend Marvin King!
Awesome! I love this kids playing he's amazing and so cool to see such a proud, supportive dad. My parents were both "do what makes you happy son It's your life" I turned out to be a miserable bastard. But, they were cool about me playing music. It was nice to have that support.
What's up Marvin and Marcus!! Long time no see. I've known these 2 for around 18 yrs. Knew Marcus since a little kid. Always enjoyed hanging out with you Marvin. Took some lessons from you but it would always turn into a jam session.
Rich J well neighbor if Michael Jordan told you he was the best would that change the fact that he was the best?? Or the cost of a ticket to his game?? It’s not really bragging if it’s the truth. But hey if you wanna 5$ movie they got bins full of em at Walmart. But the best ones are on the rack. Dude is good for real but you just got a little carried away is all I’m saying. Peace bro 🤘🏼
@@shanecrawford5346 He is good, but he is not the best. There are many guitar players just as good or better than him. Warren Haynes for one. A Government Mule ticket is usually around $35 Bonomassa is around $100. He charges too much plain and simple. Like I said he is good, but I preferred him when he was just the kid in the band bloodline.
Saw him at his 1st cd release party in Greenville, SC at a brewery...i think he was 16. His dad got on stage with him too. His drummer was a Bonzo clone!
Lots of guys in the know go nuts about the first year reissue explorers - the LE from 1976. I have one and can agree. There’s something special about the big old slab Gibson’s from back in the day. Just rockin.
Didn't know his dad plays as well. Makes a lot of sense. His dad sounds like a really good player too. Also, I didn't think that Dumble sounded very good, imo
marvin said not to get weird on yall but I prayed over big r ed his dads guitar...don't be afraid to say you pray ...that was strange...it showed his faith ..
All this fast playing nonsense, I love the numerous sounds but where's the rhythym? I swear this is why I can only listen to Mayer and neo soul (Melanie faye) because yeah they switch up the sounds but they use rhythym.
how much money does it take to purchase a 1958 les paul and/or a flying V? i have an entire arsenal of $200 squires that can produce that very same tone. is it all in my fingers? hey cool hat and horse blanket! and orange glasses! what
Any good player can make a Squier sound good as i am sure you are aware. That does not make it sound like a Korina body V or a light weight mahogany Les Paul with a maple top. Obviously the pickups are different and one has a bolt on neck and the others are set necks. 25 1/2 scale vs 24 3/4. The hardware is better quality on the US guitars and will last longer also. For what its worth, play what you have and let it sing from your heart.

When I was a teen I also took lessons with Marvin. Music Maker in Easley SC. He was that kind of person that you could really open up to.
Damn good folks!
Mr. Marvin and Mrs. Lee are two of the finest people in the whole world!
Great dad !!! Great grandpa!!! Proud of all three of you.🎵🎶🎶🎵
Awesome he mentioned Robin Trower. People tend to forget about him. Trower was a phenomenal guitarist and songwriter.
Frank Lyons lol sorry, yes, “is.”

So you became miserable by doing what made you happy? 🤔 The irony.
I never saw someone playing a Flying V like Marcus K. did. Awesome.
Good to see him dressing more and more like SRV.
Ha! SRV immediately came to my mind too 😎👍
AND HIS DAD LOOKS LIKE THE BTK KILLER
+Nashville Guitarist. Yeah, that’s so good!
Nashville Guitarist he looks like Yngwie Malmsteen dressed up like SRV when playing (we cannot see his face)
love this comment

🤣
That's an awesome performance. Marcus will be the next King!!!
Awsome man, when you look more from the 70's than your old man 🤘
wonderful example of different guitars pulling different riffs out of a player
Man I love watching this cat play! So humble and just love that tone and sound
God I love the sound of him with a strat
I loved you in The Outlaw Josey Wales..
holy crappp never heard of these dudes what an opening
Love them both!
Nice to see his dad’s support.
Nice tribute to Stevie, Marcus! You righting some killer songs man
This guy is the real deal
5:31 "Holy cow the boys got it."
Playing through a Dumble Overdrive Special....No wonder these guitars sounds so nice.
Such God given talent to the family...keep it up Dad and Grand Pa smiling...tMwtF
Nice to hear he is a Zappa fan. And Trower as well.
Marcus King os the greatest american musical act right now! Period!
The Tedeshi Trucks band is.
But Marcus is great.
You apparently haven’t been introduced to Joe Bonamassa. Because he is the total package, singer, songwriter, and guitarist extraordinaire!!!
@@shanecrawford5346 yeh he is the best... just ask him he'll tell you. 😂 or look at his $$$ ticket price.

Channeling his SRV look. 🎸😎👍
Everyone always gushes over the '59 Les Paul but the '58 is better
I agree
I second that
that's a pretty subjective opinion. How many have you played?
Yeah! Fuck that ‘59! Just throw that piece of shit in the garbage. 🤦♂️ smh...
I like hollowbodys way more than les Paul's plus I cant play giant necks
Had no idea I was going to well up with pride when I clicked to see these magic cats?
Marcus is a smokin guitar player. got damn son
Lonnie Mack with the V!
Saw him at his 1st cd release party in Greenville, SC at a brewery...i think he was 16. His dad got on stage with him too. His drummer was a Bonzo clone!
That V sounds better than a Les Paul > It's the DUMBLE special Overdrive!
BEAST!!!💪
Damn that was dope. Songbirds keep doing videos like this!
I like the neck on my 59 for my finger size plus the humbuckers generally don’t feed back as much on the 59s 58s are really microphonic
Holy smokes. That’s very visceral
What sorcery did he perform on that tele?
and that v!!!!
Great players, guitars, and video quality... but please don't forget to mic up the interviewee's for future videos!
Beefy Ray Vaughn. Reminds you there is soul and steak still in Texas.
Nik B
The Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo, a 76oz Sirloin and baked potato🥔, no charge if you can finish it all in an hour.
His dad is so full of pride he can hardly speak
Marcus rolls of the tone of his voice like he did with the Flying V, I´m amazed...Seriously, thanks for the video, the guitars sounds great.
Good stuff!
Wow! That V sounds better than a Les Paul.
im not surprised.
Always
because it was a better player
You should see Marvin play live. Once you do you'll see where Marcus gets it from.

I saw this guy playing pan pipes outside a shopping centre last week!
Looks like he actually ate Stevie Ray Vaughan
Lmao
Texas F(l)ood
I want to play harmonica for this guy..
At 7:12 what a lick mannnnn!!!!!
Okay. Legit, ima need to know where to get that poncho!
Poncho's R us always has a good selection.
Asheville, NC 👌
Marcus should dress up as aqua man. It would really propel his career.
Sam Kinison still trying to play the guitar.
rmm2424 omg that's hilarious!!!
trying this guy will kick anybody's ass at that.
marvin said not to get weird on yall but I prayed over big r ed his dads guitar...don't be afraid to say you pray ...that was strange...it showed his faith ..
Doesn't hurt to be plugged into Dumble amp, either.
Reminds me of a more technical Leslie west
Stevie Ray Malmsteen plays V
Put a mike on the boys when they talk please. Thanks
Can someone tell me what scale/mode is marcus using at 7:25 ??
The Sharp amp sounds godly...the Dumble...not so much.
Was the V inn the Sharp? Cause that was God tone.
Brian Cullen no, I believe it was the Dumble w/ the V and when his Dad played the Burst which to my ears the tone was not great. YMMV
Man that V in the Dumble though!? I have to respectfully disagree with you bo. That sounded damn good!
Is that one of the mountain men ? Play Mississippi queen!!😂
What's the name of the Zappa song hes playing? Been trying to figure out this since hearing him play this live.
Eat that question
@@MaciekStratPlayer awesome!!! Thank you.
is that a joint in his headband?
1022rebelreddog no it’s a feather moron
Jay and Silent bo...Marcus King 😂😂
What is the song at 2:45?
Poncho and Toro
The boy just has soulfulness fallin' right on down out of his ass. I could listen to this cat all day long.
No! Actually, he is the son of bass player Mark King lol.
Foto Jornalista 2018 lol

Every other guitar player besides Eric Clapton,Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer,Robert Cray,Eric Johnson etc etc 😂

Marcus should dress like a hip hop star.
I agree
He should dress like Bootsy Collins.

What's wrong with his pinky?
He doesn't use it as much but to me idk it looks better to my eyes how his fingers move around the fretboard
is he cold?
hahahahahahaaassas
He looks way too much like SRV
looks nothing like him...oh yeah if you added 50 pounds sure
i didn't understand a work he said it was all inaudible 🤨
Jive...

Yeah , whatever
Wow!! somebody actually made a Dumble sound like shit! Should've tuned up first.
too much style, lacking the substance😩
All this fast playing nonsense, I love the numerous sounds but where's the rhythym? I swear this is why I can only listen to Mayer and neo soul (Melanie faye) because yeah they switch up the sounds but they use rhythym.
He's a all around great guitarist man he plays rhythm just as well as those players
how much money does it take to purchase a 1958 les paul and/or a flying V?
i have an entire arsenal of $200 squires that can produce that very same tone.
is it all in my fingers?
hey cool hat and horse blanket!

what
Your Squier sounds like a vintage Flying V through a Dumble OS?! Nice!
Sorry friend, disagree.

I'm sure your squire sounds like a squire and your fingers sound like lamb chops.
You sir are a clown
