Marcus King and his dad Marvin sat down recently with our Nashville based Artist Relations maestro Patrick Foley to discuss the new MK Ultra Signature amp.
The Marcus King MK Ultra Created in conjunction with guitar phenomenon and Grammy Award nominated singer/songwriter Marcus King, the MK Ultra is our first-ever Amplifier designed and built in the USA. Using the highest quality components available, including American-made custom Heyboer transformers, this hand wired 30 watt all-valve guitar amplifier represents a marriage of classic vintage American and British tonal sensibilities. Make no mistake though, this is not a copy of any previous vintage design with some slight modifications. This is a completely unique design that offers a new approach to the classic Orange sound.

I always liked Wishbone Ash “Argus” album especially when it first came out because it was new music and a new sound plus SO English sounding. 😆 Then I found out at some point that they used Orange amps. I have wanted the more vintage Orange sound for their tones on that album but with the ability for high gain too. Weird thing is in the interviews with the founders they mentioned they used JBL’s which are pretty efficient speakers. I figure the OR15 is the right choice but the Orange Crush 35RT and the Rocker 32 look really good, especially the Rocker 32.

Wow.. this video is very encouraging.. thanks for this unique insight to the inside. I feel like I'm listening to my own inner monologue while Marcus is talking about needing to be on the road because that's where music happens... That's where the best music happens anyway... We are currently doing just that, in that spirit. We love making music on the road. It's the best drug money can't buy.

I think that it is an ultra-cool amp but, IMO, a little bit expensive for what it offers. I know that it is a very high quality device but 3 grand is a lot.
