I swear he's channeling the players he names as he demos examples of their style. Unreal. This man means every single note he plays, and you can feel it.
Reason it sounds the way it does here has a huge deal to do with the person playing it. Guitar would sound nothing like that in our hands. I’ve never heard anyone go in to Wes Montgomery like that and just absolutely nail it. It’s amazing to see a master at play here. He tours with base level squire affinity guitars as well and sounds just the same. Tone is in the hands.
A great old guitar is like an interesting old person. They both have lots of stories to tell but sometimes it takes a little coaxing and time to get them talking. Jack really knows how to bring out the best in these beauties. He's a guitar whisperer.
Maybe more than anybody, Jack is authentic master of all genres. Whatever he plays-blues, rock, country, jazz-he plays it like THAT is all he ever plays. We know better.
Beautiful playing, beautiful cat. A Confucius/Buddha grand master vibe. Laughs with delight at his own conjurings . Swings heavy too. Beautiful touch and serene vibe. One of the sweetest cats.
Well, he does have a point. If the guitar's hanging on the wall, it's an "A", if it's down on a guitar stand, it's an "A", if you're sitting down with it on your knee, it's closer to the "A" than "V", if it's hanging from your neck, again it's closer to the "A" because it's inclined with the neck pointing up.
I saw Jack at The Station Inn last year. He played a Squier strat and a old, cheap bolt on LP copy. What a player. Jack just sat in front of the bar after and chatted with everyone.
Wow. Rick Beato's interview with Tommy Emmanuel brought me here. Thankful am I. Would sell my soul at the crossroads for bends/vibrato like that. SRV did a lot of those 1.5+ step bends with super high gauge strings.
The groove that Jack brings out at 1:50 is just astounding to me. The way the bass starts out being polyphonic with the rest of the chord and then he splits it off to establish that constant pulse but not all at once, you don't notice it and all of a sudden he's in kind of dead thumb territory, it just felt so odd and yet so amazingly musical.
@@ryanchapman1 No idea, but I don't think Jack would think of that as a "lick", it'd just be an improvised line to him, it's the rhythm and how it's phrased that makes it so tasty and unique.
Such a humble southern gentleman who had the opportunity to have been on SITE with so many greats including HIMSELF - God what a great player. Just listen to him bend all the in between notes, cause the V is more like a Fender neck + that 24 3/4" scale WHOA!!!
There is something so entrancing watch someone who has mastered their chosen skill/craft for the pure deep love of it, not for fame or fortune. You can tell Jack Pearson is the Real Deal - hands down, no doubt.
Jack Pearson is my guitar idol . His playing always tells a story and what i really like is he will come out of a cool run or lick with a smile or a laugh .
He's unreal. When I was a kid I saw him when he was with the Allman Brothers in the late 90's and I didn't know who he was then and I was on the front row and he stood literally right in front of me wearing overalls and the same kind of hat he has in this video looking like he was about to go conduct a train in the 30's or something but absolutely blistering the crap out of a Strat. I have loved him ever since and he's SEVERELY unknown for his skill level. The Allman Brothers probably literally have the overall greatest lineup of guitarists in history. Think about it. Duane, Dickey, Warren, Jack, AND Derek Trucks! I also saw Derek open for them he was probably in his late teens or so and that's something I'll always remember as well!
This guitar is prominently displayed deep in the vault. I’m always drawn to it whenever I’m there. Grateful to hear it played! Thanks Jack and Songbirds
OOOH that humbucking out-of-phase tone makes me wanna flip the neck pickup magnet again! Peter Green's '59 Les Paul hypnotized me but then again with P90s, Freddie King and T-Bone Walker made em TAWK!
sitting here, in awe, just mesmerized....and then he broke into octaves..."can still do Wes Montgomery"...and then I knew.....I"ve been on the correct path all along!,,,does he play a 25 or 6 ro 4 solo at the end? Guess I"ll have to keep watching to see
What’s the story behind this guitar? I noticed the fret markers are on the bottom of the neck instead of the top and it has another pickguard on the top half of it. Was it originally left handed then routed out for right handed and the top pickguard to cover where the controls used to be?
What a treasure Jack Pearson is! Jack can play anything. However, he picked up this gorgeous ‘58 V and it must have reminded him of the great Albert King, in both look and tone. I believe that Mr. Pearson could play a wire on a stick and make it sound great!
Got to see him a few times in 1998 at Great Woods. The last Great woods concert was The Allman Brothers Band. Then one more time in 1999 at The Beacon Theatre.
Billy Strings on Theo brought me here. Definitely not disappointed. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Same here!
Me too!
😂 dammit boi
same
Same haha
Here from Billy and Theo
And having a good time
This folks is Jedi Master-level guitar playing here.
Yes sir he is but can you just imagine Stevie Ray just doing that.
Ever heard the licks of Jack Pearson the guitar god? It's not something that the record companies would tell you...
Yeap Jack is very good:)
Also he looks like Qui-Gon Jinn
Was playing this on my computer and the wife walked in and got naked ,. Jedi mind tricks with that guitar for sure
damn we lucky to have youtube
It's a modern day miracle.
@@saginawdan I appreciate RUclips for sure...not so sure about the value of all the rest of the 'social' media...
@@robertallen6710 I agree.
Absolutely addicted RUclips.
Pearson has a fantastic touch and tone. An underrated master.
How can anyone in the A. Bros band be "underrated"?
"Underrated?" No competent guitarist would even think that.
@dennis grammer Slash rhymes with Trash, see what I mean, now Slash is properly rated!
That Wes Montgomery lick he did is so incredible. Jack Pearson is such a phenomenal player!
seems like no matter the guitar those old Gibson's you can play any style of music on them.
“It’s not a V it’s a A” he has a point there
It's an A+ when it's in his hands!
And if it was a V you would have to stand it upside-down. Definitely an A.
Hendrix called it Flying Angel, I think he was also referring to it looking like a A instead of a V.
It's a Y 🤟
Billy Strings brought me here
Same .... Tommy emmanueal right before it. Goddamn son
I describe his playing as "wise," everything exactly where it should be
Well said.

Big thanks to Billy strings for introducing me to Jack Pearson
When I was in Nashville last week I heard that Jack's not been well, hope he'll recover okay, God bless him.
He's playing next month, 3rd and LIndsley. I am there!
@@crisprtalk6963 Good to hear, cheers for that, I'll be there in spirit. From NZ.
hands down the best sounding guitar i've heard in my entire life. cool guy too.

Man ain't nothin better than having a joint and hearing the best darn tone in my life.
“It’s out of phase in the middle… I’m going to have to do that to mine” made me chuckle
Wow...the tone in his fingers. Jack Pearson is not human. 😮
A great old guitar is like an interesting old person. They both have lots of stories to tell but sometimes it takes a little coaxing and time to get them talking. Jack really knows how to bring out the best in these beauties. He's a guitar whisperer.
Great comment!
Holy shit cant unsee it.. it is a flying A

jeez-- this guy defines cool. more power to him; i'll be in my cubicle.
I will be listening while running my machine that makes cubicle parts.
Best guitarist (almost) no one's heard of!
Didn't know who he was... Here from Billy Strings... You get the feeling that he can do ANYTHING with that guitar
Wow. I’ve never heard of him till now. He’s amazing
He filled in on the allman brothers tour in '97 when warren had left to do the mule.
Jack is fantastic. He makes everything look effortless.
For him it is! And he smiles the whole time!
Yes the super light touch
All of these years and I never thought about it being a flying a.
Yeah, Billy Strings brought me here ❤
I've had the pleasure of seeing Jack several times. He's a master and underappreciated.
I love Jack's playing and demeanor.
Dude can play anything
I could listen to him all day every day...
Former member of Allman Brothers Band and Jimmy Buffett's band.
Wes Montgomery licks - spot on. Beautiful playing and tone!
Man this guy has soooooo much feeling to his playing n makes it look so effortless!!! 🤘😎🤘
I've heard presenters on YT say "smash the like button". Never have. Until ~2:25 in this vid, whereupon I smashed said button.
Love him laughing as much as playing.
Jack is such a gentleman and the most underrated guitarist I know of…blessed to have recorded with him in my life
The last of our great blues guitarists
Well, he does have a point. One of the greatest guitarists out there! His touch is pure magic!
Thats the allman brothers sound as dickey and jack have the same melodic playing style going on.
Damn...this guy is incredible
How is Jack not the most famous musician/guitar player ever?
Jack is one of the finest guitarists, and he makes that ‘58 V sing! Absolutely glorious instrument!
Finally somebody’s sounding fresh and unique playing these blues licks. Well done, love your Lowell George type hat.....
Lowell is the man ! ;)
I saw Jack at The Station Inn last year. He played a Squier strat and a old, cheap bolt on LP copy. What a player. Jack just sat in front of the bar after and chatted with everyone.
Such a nice guy. Always an amazing tone. The way he speaks with his guitar is a language I understand.
Wow. Rick Beato's interview with Tommy Emmanuel brought me here. Thankful am I. Would sell my soul at the crossroads for bends/vibrato like that. SRV did a lot of those 1.5+ step bends with super high gauge strings.

Any ideas as to where he got that lick from?
Playing in C allows melodious to sound modal. The C note alone gives a minor 3rd, which it allows the melody to sound blues.
@@MH-il1lk It's not the note choice. It's the counterpoint and rhythm that makes it good.
@@ryanchapman1 No idea, but I don't think Jack would think of that as a "lick", it'd just be an improvised line to him, it's the rhythm and how it's phrased that makes it so tasty and unique.
One can only be happy listening to Jack play ,,, he is wonderful at his craft .

Mr. Pearson can play every Guitar and it sounds like never before
One of my very favorite guitarists. He always has wonderful tone.
Finally a modern guitarist worth listening too!!!! The search for the holy grail is over!
Doesn't seem forced at all. Incredible
Undoubtedly the most prolific guitarist I've ever worked with.
There is something so entrancing watch someone who has mastered their chosen skill/craft for the pure deep love of it, not for fame or fortune. You can tell Jack Pearson is the Real Deal - hands down, no doubt.
Great blues tone. That is similar to the sound that Hendrix achieved tuning down to D and playing blues tunes on his Flying V.
Fantastic feeling and musicality.. a joy to hear you on the Vee
king of Nashville, tone, and skills thank you for sharing!
Jack is an absolute beast...awesome tone
how could anyone not want to hang out with this dude? Such a cool cat. Guitar royalty.
Just now turned on to this master, wow.
I learned about Pearson today. Oh-my-god... Just incredible tone and feel....
Met him playing with Reese Wynans in a small bar in TN. Great people
Better players. Wow
one of the greatest guitar players... ever
this guy is amazing, playing, thinking, attitude.
JACK- of of all Trades. Solidly rooted in the Early Masters of various musical styles- bet he could pull of Django licks at a whim!
Damn, he sounds more like Albert than Stevie does.
He sounds more like Albert than Albert does 😜
I really wanna see Jack Pearson with Greg Koch in one section........make it happen youtube!
not to be rude, but I'd say Jack Pearson is the exact opposite of Greg Koch. Taste ...knowing what NOT to play
Albert king and SRV together was really cool.

That’s and amazing hand + ear + mind + soul collaboration on a single musician 👏👏
