I wait long time for relase this mod, and I love it, I hope that future version will be compatible with Quake mission packs and Arcane Dimensions. You should also check and review mod for COD "United Fronts" and COD 2 "Hardcore Tactical Mod" with my addon " Brutal WWII Reality v2.0" with new gore,bullet hit effects,weapons sounds,explosions etc. Cheers from Poland bro :)

This was the first ever game to be stuck in Development Hell, next to duke nukem Forever (Ugh), and Aliens: Colonial Marines (Another Ugh)

Romero wasn't the only level designer in Quake. I think he was responsible for the first episode. American Mcgee was another level designer for the game.
In any Quake version in the folder of the game there should be read-me file, it describes all level designers and who did wich level. Romero did all introduction base levels, episode 1 and some levels in some episodes, episode 2 is McGee probably, Tim WIllits did 3rd one, and Sandy did episode 4 (wich is recognizable, his style also seemed in Doom).

I tried this mod myself a few days ago and while it caught me by surprise that the Ogre Ballet isn't as easy to do as in vanilla as well as the damage spongey-ness of the enemies in general, the weapons really got a good kick and I really dug the lightning gun change. It'll improve better in time i feel. Great review, man!
Significant bug I found: If the bullet time activates as I die, and I reload the save while it's still active, the bullet time stays on permanently. I need to turn the game on and off again to fix it.
If you haven't been using quicksaves like myself ( I just prefer to manually save), all you gotta do is press space once you die to spawn back at the starting room of the game. Then load up your last save and it's fixed. It should still be patched, though.
Quake is another game I bought back in the day but no longer have and never finished. Looking at this mod really makes me wanna go back and finish it :)

I was going to say that this is essentially Brutal Quake, but the sunny Jim that made this video beat me to it. This mod looks fantastic and I'll definitely be giving it a go as soon as possible, but from watching your video I hope that this mod adds in the option for us to have the weapons centred as they were in vanilla Quake. Weapons like the rocket launcher just look way better when it is centred and it doesn't look all that great in the footage that's being used in this video.

Just recently beat Quake for the sega saturn and had a blast playing it again and finding secret levels I'm sure very few people have ever seen or played. This mod looks like it will be another joy ride to play through the game once more and possibly even in coop ;D

I remember playing quake-1 back in 1997 and that time was the best game which I was playing!! Imagine my desktop was a pentium-1, working with Windows 95 and playing the game only with the keyboard. Looking quake1.5 now.. It looks fucking awesome!!! Congratulations to the designers! They updated the game to the standard of the computer technology that it deserves to be played and being enjoyed by us!! Quake was, is and will be legendary!!!
I'm only what, two years, late to this party, but I wanna point out that the fireball throwing imps and the spiders are from HeXen 2, as are the newly added breakable walls, imo this game feels like a glorious mash of Quake with Hexen 2's engine improvements and I love it.
This is so sick. Quake 1 should be remade with some of these mods and ideas with a new engine. This is an oldie but goodie like aged fine wine. Or whiskey if that's your type of shit. Thanks for the review. Love this channel.
the mod has its own options menu where you can choose for a older SSG skin centered weapon and what powerup to replace with the slowmo powerup it also has a CFG file with lot of settings for you to piddle around with
I've been playing through Quake on Nightmare and honestly, it's not all that nightmarish but it's still a great challenge ;). The level design is incredible and I love the traps that are set throughout as well as all the secret rooms that open, freeing monsters that ambush you. I can tell just by watching the gameplay that this mod is an improvement, I'll definitely consider downloading it some time ;).
Fun fact: the original lightning gun was supposed to have an upgrade just like shotgun -> super-shotgun and nailgun -> super-nailgun. The upgrade was supposed to be... a chain-lightning gun that would hit multiple enemies. Took long enough, I say! I have to try this mod.

There are 2 additional patches on Mod DB; this bug is fixed with those updates (among other bugs of course).
I've definitely been saving more frequently than I would in standard Quake, the enemies soak more damage and seem faster and more aggressive.
Quake is another game I bought back in the day but no longer have and never finished. Looking at this mod really makes me wanna go back and finish it :)

You should review the Team Fortress Mod or Team Fortress Classic
Yeah all the Team Fortress games have their advantages and flaws (e.g. TFC is more fast-paced than TF2 and is generally seen as better for competitive play.)

@@doommaker4000 Valve themselves said the very first thing they did for TF2 was remove grenades and it instantly made the game more fun.
You can probably change your server configs to disable them, but if not you can *definitely* mod them out in QWTF with a little help from our old friends /* and */.

The code behind Quake is incredible. If you know even the very basics of C, you can dive right in.
That music, it sounds like a remake of an insanely old song I have called Jolly Blacksmiths' lane.
I really can't believe we have not gotten a remake of the Quake campaign in some form or another. Everyone always focuses on the multiplayer, but I enjoy the single player style and gameplay just as much as Doom.
Personally, Quake is my favourite of the old school FPS games.
