@@darkprinc979 I actually just got into doom mods pretty recently, I got both gzdoom and edge(for this mod in particular). Using gzmod was incredibly easy, set up was immediate. Edge took some configuration though, for some reason it was stuck at 640 by 480 resolution and wouldn't allow fullscreen mode. I'm glad I got it working though, I love this mod
I had my fair share of playing this mod. The first time I played this... I was amazed on how it handles and performs. I had a smile on my face since then. :)

Nice review. Noticed you had transparency off in the footage though, try setting r_oldblend to 1 in the console (type "r_oldblend 1"). To get around the "swagger motion" effect (which also bugs me) try downgrading to a slightly older version of the engine, until they sort that out. To clarify why I used weapon sprites from both Duke 3D, Duke 64 and others was because I wanted to mix it up. I did not want it to just be another Duke 3D in DOOM mod, there's been plenty of them over the years. I wanted something a little more unique and interesting while still keeping the overall spirit of the character and games in which he is featured. And lastly, this particular mod was never designed for ZDoom. At least, not officially. It has always been 3DGE exclusive and always will be, at least from my end. Peace.

Major prop to Duke3D. I was 15 yo when it was released. Because of Duke3D, I learned how to code and mod. I was a Modder for couple years after and my levels were featured in one of those level Expansion pack on CD. Nevertheless, without Duke3D, I wouldn't have taken interests in computing and eventually pursued me into engineering in semiconductor field. This is one of reason why I advocate PC over Console. It takes your creativity and it can help you find your passion. Consoles seldom do that.

The SPAS-12 was designed as a semi-auto shotgun with the option of pump-action if you want to fire things like beanbag rounds. They don't produce enough pressure to cycle the semi-auto.
Here’s a fix for the Camera bobbing and rolling. Download the newer EDGE devbuilds from DRDTeam. Note: I’m the lead programmer on EDGE. How to fix Camera Bobbing/Rolling: you can change this in COAL_HUD.ec. You’ll have to use SLaDE to open the EPK and find the COAL QC file and modify the head bobbing that way. It was fixed in root EDGE (base/doom_ddf/coal_hud.ec) but mods that miss those new additions will default to that weird extreme head bob. In function draw_all(), Copy line 1818 - 1823 which controls camera bobbing and rolling to the hud file used in Duke it Out in Doom. You want to change the cam.set_vert_bob to 1.0, and cam.set_roll_bob values to match the defaults for DOOM. Hope this helps!

The code for Doom is pretty much open source at this point. It's available on github in its entirety. If you have a C compiler and make, you can just recompile it and call it a source port. The code is also fucking beautiful.

There are two Duke mechanics mods for GZDoom afaik, now that you mention it. One is a little more limited and has enemies of DN3D, and there's another one that has much, MUCH more guns and the enemies of DN3D, plus a few new types of enemies to deal with.
there is a shadow warrior one, changes all the pick ups, guns, and enemies to shadow warrior ones. im not sure about a blood one, i wouldn't be surprised if their was one out there. if not then i guess zbloody hell is the best substitute.

So the SPAS-12 has two firing modes just like the real thing. Most games don't depict that. 6:36 Do an image search on "Korobov TKB-059." It's a real-life "Ripper" except it's chambered for 7.62x39mm, uses tripled AK mags, and it's an ambidextrous bullpup with bottom-ejection! Korobov was a genius! 9:04 Just like Arnie. Of course, firing that kind of weapon without properly aiming it defeats the whole point, but Arnie always was more of a Gunzerker than a Commando.

I'm a bit disappointed that the glorious mod Samsara didn't get a mention in this. As it allows you to play as Duke and adheres much closer to how Vanilla Duke 3D functioned without changing how the Doom Monsters handle. It also allows you to play as other classics like the main character from Quake, Marathon, Heretic, and even Chex Quest. All of which are faithfully adapted to the mod. The icing on the cake is that it is compatible with ZDoom, Zandronum (and is therefore online multiplayer enabled), and most other source ports of Doom. To anyone reading this that's interested in the mod this video discussed, please consider trying out Samsara too, it's really, really good.

I need to try this out to see how the pipe bombs behave. Having a grenade-like weapon that can bank around corners is one of the weapons that original Doom is missing.
11:08 This is the same thing that happens if you use the flame enchantment on a melee weapon in Minecraft. You light the zombie on fire, it then hits you and lights you on fire. Just ruins the whole thing, lol. Works fine on the bow & arrow though.

It also allows you to play as other classics like the main character from Quake, Marathon, Heretic, and even Chex Quest. All of which are faithfully adapted to the mod. The icing on the cake is that it is compatible with ZDoom, Zandronum (and is therefore online multiplayer enabled), and most other source ports of Doom.

You are 100% correct Sonny Jim, I too could of sworn I had an early version of this running on ZDoom, cuz way back I hated using mods on the 3DGE engine, so I know I didn't play it there....

When I was a kid, I had Duke Nukem Total Meltdown and Doom for the PS1. I'm a boomer and I love my boomer shooters.
Rather than try and post code fixes, I've uploaded two 7z's to the EDGE team servers that fix both EDGE and Duke it Out In Doom.
These builds are newer than the ones provided in the ModDB download link. These also fix the camera bobbing and the transparency issues seen in the video. @GmanLives, if you can please change the Mod Download links to mirror these links instead.:

Installation:
Extract to a fresh directory (not over any existing install of EDGE), and make sure you copy your IWAD to the folder. Drag n drop 'dukeout.epk' over EDGE.
Notes:
If you need to get into fullscreen, be aware that there is a bug we are facing with OpenGL/SDL2 that might turn your screen black. If that's the case, force-quit and restart. You can also just start the game in a window, quit out, and open EDGE.ini and change the r_fullscreen value to '1' and your desired resolution. Sorry for these issues, we are working on fixes!

I need to try this out to see how the pipe bombs behave. Having a grenade-like weapon that can bank around corners is one of the weapons that original Doom is missing.

11:08 This is the same thing that happens if you use the flame enchantment on a melee weapon in Minecraft. You light the zombie on fire, it then hits you and lights you on fire. Just ruins the whole thing, lol. Works fine on the bow & arrow though.
