Yeah, Ashlen was playing it nice by turning Kaervek into an almost group-hug deck, where literally everyone gets a "shot". That's fun and games by itself, maybe. But you just *don't do that* when you've got a Spike like Cassius at the table. ^^
Fairly certain everyone could have seen an NFL player who runs his own MtG store owning time twister. Also I don't blame Jimmy. As he said, he couldn't do anything about the Narset. That was all Ashlen.
yeah... if he would have had timetwister on the turn he played narset he could have wheeled on the same turn by not paying for rhystic, so it was actually very unlikely that he had it(and he "top-decked" it anyway :D)

Josh wins most games, so I don't really see him as a hero :P I was even kinda happy to see Cassius get the combo off. Even if I was constantly internally screaming at Jimmy and Ashlen.
He had a couple less than great plays, but he spent the entire game trying to play table police while they got greedy as hell and actively facilitated Cassius' win. Really cringeworthy game.
I mean, Josh also gave him unnessisary treasures to get counter-swatted while he was attempting to use all his resources to stop Jimmy *WHILE KNOWING* Cass had an Omniscience in his hand.

@@maxspecs It's not really fair to fault Josh for forgetting a subtle "may" clause on a skyscraper-sized stack after he poured a majority of his resources into policing Cassius; Jimmy and Ash simply didn't contribute enough in threat control/assessment to keep him in check.
It’s actually getting kind of old watching him whine every single time someone else plays a draw engine, while he plays Rhystic Study at the same time.
I can't stand when people ask for take backs, it's so damn annoying. Like I can understand if you're introducing someone to magic for the first time, but if you know what you're doing then no, just no.
While I very much enjoyed this episode of I was at this table with Ashlen this game I would’ve been really annoyed. She specifically gave jimmy a tutor who stated to the table that he got enchantment removal for mystic remora. Then a few turns later plays a do nothing enchantment that turn (awesome card but do nothing for a table rotation here) into a known removal spell instead of her commander which would’ve been an answer for the biggest issue on board. And then if that wasn’t enough, she makes a very casual game type politics deal with a powerful cEDH deck at the table and rather than keeping Cassius in check by throwing the same from the big spells cast at his face, she completely passes off responsibility to her opponents and by doing so gives the game away to the obvious highest threat at the table. Again, they are just playing for our entertainment and to have fun so it’s nothing serious but if that was me and my friends, you better believe I would be chewing out my friend for playing like that
Garrett Estrada Honestly, I agree with you. Personally I don’t blame Ashlen for the fiery emancipation play. I just think she could have done it better like politic with jimmy to kill Narset or something. But overall yeah, she would be annoying to play with this game. P.S. Cassius’s deck is very much a casual deck. Not a cEDH one. As someone who has played with and against cEDH decks, his is nowhere near that power.

@@garrettestrada6434 Saying Cassius's deck is cEDH is either just ignorant or disingenuous, he took a few different CEDH lists, smacked in random cool 7 drops, (Palinchron, Sheoldred) and took out any cEDH wincons that work with what he has in his list. For example, his Jace and Thassa's oracle would combo with demonic consultation, he didn't have demonic consultation so no win con there. No deadeye navigatory with the palinchron, another combo win missing. Like, he's running Lim Dul's Vault, to get what combo? Nothing. The deck has no good wincon other than some value. I'm very sure that for Game Knights they don't want the games to end with infinite combos so no one runs them, which is a huge portion of cEDH decks.

@@leifwalker4929 what were you looking at ? I looked at some sealed products ( war of the spark booster box for example) and it seemed in line with tcg player. Granted I haven't looked at singles but for sealed it seems like normal card store prices ,maybe even on the better side of that equation
Yeah, unfortunately he felt like he had to use all his resources to answer everything else being played. His commander's plan was too slow and he didn't want to take a turn off to play something for himself. Ironically, since Josh decided to play like that it all worked out well for the table. If Cassius wasn't such a big threat (or potential threat) then Josh might've shown just how much advantage he was getting.
As Marsh explained, the Remorra on T1 was a huggge play in playing catch-up (especially with the Sol Ring the turn after). As many cards as JLK drew, they weren't as important as the cards Marsh drew (at least in a hidden information game where all cards are equal in the opponents' minds - sure JLK may have had bigger win-con cards he was drawing but we don't know if they were those or lands, and same for Marsh). And it's just not as good as it could be with Narset out; even if it allows him to play catch-up a little, it's still objectively not as good as it 'could' be.

And josh told them so as well and they didn't seem to care as much, they got lucky josh was packin. And then ashlen decides to play fiery emancipation instead of kaervek, which I mean i think in general was a bad play but it really would have been better if she played her commander and then jimmy play a 3 drop to kill the narset/hullbreacher, whatever it was

I mean the play made some sense here. With Ashlen getting ready to ultimate her planeswalker, and no one potentially being able to out it. She would have nearly won there. Since everyone's eyes were on Cas, she could have sneaked in a ton of damage. It's definitely risky politicking though
The second I heard what his deck was I realized that I run decks witch scale based on my opponent decks like mind control decks and clone decks to avoid this exact problem.

His deck didn't get out of hand because it was crazy, it got out of hand because 2 out of the other 3 players let it get out of hand. There were so many missed opportunities because they they didn't acknowledge the real threat at the table until it was too late.

Nah, I like the sentiment but it would literally just be cEDH gameplay with at least one list stock from the cEDH database if not more. I watch those games all the time on other channels, I appreciate GK for the creative casual plays (except this game unfortunately...). Although, it would be nice to see Kyle stomp some people again. And if you did the competitive lineup, you'd HAVE to add DJ back to the show which would be kind of refreshing imo.
cassius and kyle yes, not so sure craig would want to play that. hes a timmy at heart. he builds powerful decks but they are not competitive decks they are timmy decks.
I was so surprised because it really sounds like he has some kind of enchantment removal. When Cassius didnt pay, that seemd like such a smart move, and then he goes ahead to play an amazing enchantment... And Jimmy didnt remove it! That was some entertaining twists and turns. Also he did say he was going to get rid of Joshs rock.
Yeah that was pretty lame, but he was planning on using force of vigor and was short a mana. He really should’ve played his commander instead the. He would’ve been able to cast it for free.
Worst part was that he technically has a chance to remove it before the Cumulative Upkeep trigger resolves by pitching a card to Force, but he doesn't.
@@erikohman2294 Yes, assuming that Cassius lets the Remora die anyway (which he did), that would have fed the fish one more time. Jimmy didn't know that Cassius was going to let it die, so he failed to hold up his end of the bargain.
Its pretty cringe, you see it so much irl too. Counterspells/removal aren't 'unfun', they're more or less a necessary component of edh or it just turns into solitaire

Its just unfun if it nukes your combo or you turn, bein dissapointed that something didn't go through is natural tho and as long as you don't dwell in your sadness for rounds after rounds its okay.
well there are many ways to play commander, and there is also some fun in seeing somebodies combo go off. And there is also fun in just politcs and so on.

Josh was guilty of bad threat assessment too knowing full well what Omnescience meant and letting the Hullbreacher resolve when he had a Snapcaster Mana Drain... I bet he will never again forget the May ability on Rhystic Study.

Feels like Jimmy really did Ashlen dirty in the beginning. Promised to take out the remora and Josh's talisman if he could tutor, proceeds to not deal with either of them, then leaves Josh's stuff alone and uses the card he tutored for to destroy one of Ashlen's permanents

@@jdotwilliam He'll have priority on Cash's upkeep, but not until the Cumulative Upkeep trigger is already on the stack. Active player's triggers (Remora) hits the stack, then everyone passes priority. Technically he has a chance to destroy the Remora then, and he doesn't. Cash lets it hit the yard anyway, but he did have a chance to remove it first.

I almost gave that when narset hit the field 1st time, but i just gave game when the time twister was casted the first time, Cas was getting way too much ahead even at that point, deck which plays that kind of evil combo, allowed to get ahead will just win eventually

@@09Dragonite you salty ? They all had real powerhouses and expensive cards, and the social contract was "let's play high level commander", if it bothers you, you should have stopped earlier. Truth is, most of us won't ever be able to afford a time twister, and won't be able to ever witness it happen on our table, so that's really cool to see how powerful it can be on the show, it's the whole point of it after all, entertain.
God, I felt for Josh’s salt so much. It was well justified salt. Regardless of if Cassius had a wheel or not, the threat is there and should be taken into account.
Cassius: *casts Omniscience* Ashlen: *points Kaervek damage at Jimmy* She has some... weird priorities. That deal of "you can decide where the damage goes" should have ended as soon as it was clear that Cassius was going to cast Omniscience to begin with. ^^ Black-Red doesn't have enchantment removal aside from the few borderline black enchantment removals that got printed recently. But Kaervek is potential player removal. Why waste that?
I get why she did that deal; it makes it so no one feels ganged up on, BUT there are better ways to do it; for example dice roll like with Vial Smasher or just put it out there "if you cast it you get the damage either at your face or the worst thing on your board" which turns it into a Ruric Thar-esque.

I think she made the deal so that her commander won't be seen too much of a threat by her opponents and be removed too soon, but at that point of the game, surviving Cassius predictable onslaught was a higher priority. I consider myself so so at MTG and I wouldn't have done that. I think she tried playing way too nicely overall.
@@philipped.r.6385 Yeah, she was gambling he was out of gas and trying to aim at the other threats. She wanted them to keep worried about eachother while she burned them down and built up since she didn't have the same value engines going on. It's a reasonable gamble, but it would have probably been better to just throw the omniscience damange at his face to keep his life low enough that he couldn't combo off too hard with whatever was left in his hand. Her concern was that her power on the table was most effective as long as others didn't consider Kaervek a danger to them, so using it to kill a player would have removed a threat, pointed agression her way AND she'd be facing a Jin Gitaxis plus million card Jimmy in the process. Meanwhile, Cassius' needed BOTH a way to draw enough cards to make Omniscience matter plus a way to kill Kaervek. That's all hypothetical danger, there'sa good chance he can't pull that all off at once with a small hand size. Jimmy and Josh she knew had access to tons of guarunteed resources. So does it seem silly in retrospect? Sure. But the overall threat assessment was correct. I'd have kept the omniscience player 10 life lower or extracted political favors from the others before killing him earlier, but Jimmy could have chosen to throw the damage at Cassius too - and there is long term value in keeping your word even if it disadvantages you. I have a policy that I will honor the spirit of my deals even if it kills me in Commander, which means I have no trouble getting people to agree to deals. I also have a policy to kill other players that betray deals with me even if it costs me the game. ;)
@@Foldz880 he did get a win from the commanders anthology video. But this one is more of a win with his own homebrew deck. So it’s worth more in my opinion. After three bad losses, I felt this was the best one

The only two players who properly played to win were Josh and Cassius. Ashleen and Jimmy just handed Cassius the win on a platter by doing deals with Cassius that only hurt them and their only hope to not lose (that being Josh). Ashleen shot her commander's triggers at Jimmy and Josh on the turn Cassius won. She could have killed him with that damage
Lol I'm fairly certain Cassius was playing a similar list to Folger's Tasigur deck from last week. I thought he was going to drop an Demonic Consultation after that Thassa's Oracle haha
@@Shadow_Gamer12012 Nah, milling from an empty deck doesn't lose you the game, so it's not an issue. You only lose if you try to draw when empty, not when you get milled while empty. This also means that for example, someone who gets milled until they have an empty deck, but who has cards in hand/can play from graveyard could still win the game if they take out the opponent before their next mandatory draw.
The dream turn 1 in my mono black deck: Swamp--> Dark Ritual--> Sol Ring--> K'rrik--> Necroptotence. One day it'll happen. And I'll probably lose that game somehow.
It’s honestly possibly the worst misplay I’ve ever seen on Game Knights. I don’t know what she didn't see, because my 2 year old nephew could have seen that Hullbreacher-Omnicience problem coming.
Let's not even discuss the fact that she played Fiery Emancipation instead of Kaervek while Narset was out- and let's reeeeally not discuss the fact that the Fiery Emancipation did literally nothing and got destroyed right after
"I want to triple my damage". When Ashlen has no way to dea damage that turn. Its so much better to drop Kederek, get rid of narset, and cast emancipation with both Chandra activation and kederek onboard.

Having only started playing Magic a few months ago, watching these videos really shows me how I'm barely scratching the surface on the crazy possibilities this game holds. @@Baby-Blue-102 blue green and swamp are the most popular I think, in my playgroup everyone is mainly only blue, Blue/Green, Swamp, Mountain, Mountain/Water and then another 2 swamp mountains and 1 Person plays Plains/ Water
Just in commander. I think other formats suck... You have always your 4 copies of a card there and do always the same. Just Commander makes Magic playable

Love whenever Cassius is one of the guests just because I noticed he's not afraid to say he's salty as hell. I admit if I was in his shoes I would be salty as hell too, but glad everyone had a good game.
Ashlen and jimmy literally helped cassius every step of the way and then somehow seemed surprised when he won. Yikes at the level of threat assessment derp there.
Can't agree with this comment enough. You can see the Cassius win coming at least a turn or two ahead of time, and Ashlen could have reneged the deal she had going with Kaervek a lot sooner (at least by the time she knew omniscience was in his hand) to put Cassius within kill range right around the time he was able to cast the card. I almost feel like they threw the game to him at some point, this win was so telegraphed.
sometimes it feels that they are so concerned with what Josh could play that they focus on him while letting the real threat taking over the game. I remember something very similar happened also in previous episodes.
@@franbecares420 I would hope so. I've seen Ashlen play some dang good games of commander on here before, and I remember her acknowledging Omniscience as a dangerous card in previous games, so I don't know why in the world she would let that slide here.
Cassius' deck was so close to being an cEDH deck it was great to see the stack plays, I think it would be really awesome to see some of the cEDH community(play to win or playing with power or likewise channels) in one of these episode or maybe extra turns because those games can be really fun and you could even play more casual level decks even with them. Would be great to see as an avid cEDH enthusiasts
The episode is very entertaining at the beginning but becomes progressively more frustrating. Are Jimmy and Ashlyn genuinely scared of Cassius? I'm struggling to see any other reason that they would let him get away with basically everything. Fair play to Josh for identifying threats and responding to them sensibly.
@@shogert2370 seemed more like a difference in expectation to me. The whole game looked like Cassius and Josh were playing to win, Jimmy and Ashlen were playing to do flashy things.

That whole Kaervek deal seems fun and all until huge spells were being dropped. At that point damage should have been used wisely. Would have totally changed the game if Jimmy's 12 and Cassius' 10 were sent to his face.
Dude ends the game with infinite mana, his entire deck in hand, an omniscience in play, and a jace wielder of mysteries on the battlefield... that may be the most absolute win I've ever seen.
Every game I see Cassius in I enjoy, and this is no exception! Congrats to him and his new card shop! Edit: The commander animations are slick af and you can't tell me otherwise!
@@jacobjensen7704 he was probably aiming for value. His commander gains 2 instant red mana when it attacks. While she can tap for 1 green. Its not a good ramp unless jimmy had swiftfoot boots or lightning greaves.
Plus, if I understood correctly, he probably already had that force of vigor in hand and choose not to use it. Wich his understandable since it lead to Cash sacrificing the mystic remora
Actually probably the best episode all the huge stack situations, all the learning experiences after big mistakes, and just really cool deck interactions I LOVED this one!
This game reminds me way too much of my playgroup. “Hey guys, we gotta watch out, someone try to remove it.” And rather than, “I don’t have the removal we need,” it’s always “Nah we good.” Until we all lose.
I can't help but wonder how the game would have played out if Josh didn't misplay and give Cassius a free treasure. Maybe they would have found an answer to the infinite combo, or just stopped Cassius from getting omniscience out at all.
Shout out to Cassius, and wish him luck with his new card store. He's really helping bring MTG to people who would normally not consider it.

He had a couple less than great plays, but he spent the entire game trying to play table police while they got greedy as hell and actively facilitated Cassius' win. Really cringeworthy game.

While I very much enjoyed this episode of I was at this table with Ashlen this game I would’ve been really annoyed. She specifically gave jimmy a tutor who stated to the table that he got enchantment removal for mystic remora. Then a few turns later plays a do nothing enchantment that turn (awesome card but do nothing for a table rotation here) into a known removal spell instead of her commander which would’ve been an answer for the biggest issue on board. And then if that wasn’t enough, she makes a very casual game type politics deal with a powerful cEDH deck at the table and rather than keeping Cassius in check by throwing the same from the big spells cast at his face, she completely passes off responsibility to her opponents and by doing so gives the game away to the obvious highest threat at the table. Again, they are just playing for our entertainment and to have fun so it’s nothing serious but if that was me and my friends, you better believe I would be chewing out my friend for playing like that
Garrett Estrada Honestly, I agree with you. Personally I don’t blame Ashlen for the fiery emancipation play. I just think she could have done it better like politic with jimmy to kill Narset or something. But overall yeah, she would be annoying to play with this game.
P.S. Cassius’s deck is very much a casual deck. Not a cEDH one. As someone who has played with and against cEDH decks, his is nowhere near that power.

@@garrettestrada6434 Saying Cassius's deck is cEDH is either just ignorant or disingenuous, he took a few different CEDH lists, smacked in random cool 7 drops, (Palinchron, Sheoldred) and took out any cEDH wincons that work with what he has in his list. For example, his Jace and Thassa's oracle would combo with demonic consultation, he didn't have demonic consultation so no win con there. No deadeye navigatory with the palinchron, another combo win missing. Like, he's running Lim Dul's Vault, to get what combo? Nothing. The deck has no good wincon other than some value. I'm very sure that for Game Knights they don't want the games to end with infinite combos so no one runs them, which is a huge portion of cEDH decks.

Yeah, unfortunately he felt like he had to use all his resources to answer everything else being played. His commander's plan was too slow and he didn't want to take a turn off to play something for himself.
Ironically, since Josh decided to play like that it all worked out well for the table. If Cassius wasn't such a big threat (or potential threat) then Josh might've shown just how much advantage he was getting.
As Marsh explained, the Remorra on T1 was a huggge play in playing catch-up (especially with the Sol Ring the turn after). As many cards as JLK drew, they weren't as important as the cards Marsh drew (at least in a hidden information game where all cards are equal in the opponents' minds - sure JLK may have had bigger win-con cards he was drawing but we don't know if they were those or lands, and same for Marsh). And it's just not as good as it could be with Narset out; even if it allows him to play catch-up a little, it's still objectively not as good as it 'could' be.

I watch those games all the time on other channels, I appreciate GK for the creative casual plays (except this game unfortunately...). Although, it would be nice to see Kyle stomp some people again. And if you did the competitive lineup, you'd HAVE to add DJ back to the show which would be kind of refreshing imo.

I was so surprised because it really sounds like he has some kind of enchantment removal. When Cassius didnt pay, that seemd like such a smart move, and then he goes ahead to play an amazing enchantment... And Jimmy didnt remove it! That was some entertaining twists and turns. Also he did say he was going to get rid of Joshs rock.
Yeah that was pretty lame, but he was planning on using force of vigor and was short a mana. He really should’ve played his commander instead the. He would’ve been able to cast it for free.
Worst part was that he technically has a chance to remove it before the Cumulative Upkeep trigger resolves by pitching a card to Force, but he doesn't.

He didn't have the mana to cast the force on his turn so he waited to use the free mode but by the time he could the remora was already gone.

@@jdotwilliam He'll have priority on Cash's upkeep, but not until the Cumulative Upkeep trigger is already on the stack. Active player's triggers (Remora) hits the stack, then everyone passes priority. Technically he has a chance to destroy the Remora then, and he doesn't. Cash lets it hit the yard anyway, but he did have a chance to remove it first.

God, I felt for Josh’s salt so much. It was well justified salt. Regardless of if Cassius had a wheel or not, the threat is there and should be taken into account.

She has some... weird priorities. That deal of "you can decide where the damage goes" should have ended as soon as it was clear that Cassius was going to cast Omniscience to begin with. ^^ Black-Red doesn't have enchantment removal aside from the few borderline black enchantment removals that got printed recently. But Kaervek is potential player removal. Why waste that?
I get why she did that deal; it makes it so no one feels ganged up on, BUT there are better ways to do it; for example dice roll like with Vial Smasher or just put it out there "if you cast it you get the damage either at your face or the worst thing on your board" which turns it into a Ruric Thar-esque.

I think she made the deal so that her commander won't be seen too much of a threat by her opponents and be removed too soon, but at that point of the game, surviving Cassius predictable onslaught was a higher priority. I consider myself so so at MTG and I wouldn't have done that. I think she tried playing way too nicely overall.
@@philipped.r.6385 Yeah, she was gambling he was out of gas and trying to aim at the other threats. She wanted them to keep worried about eachother while she burned them down and built up since she didn't have the same value engines going on. It's a reasonable gamble, but it would have probably been better to just throw the omniscience damange at his face to keep his life low enough that he couldn't combo off too hard with whatever was left in his hand.
Her concern was that her power on the table was most effective as long as others didn't consider Kaervek a danger to them, so using it to kill a player would have removed a threat, pointed agression her way AND she'd be facing a Jin Gitaxis plus million card Jimmy in the process.
Meanwhile, Cassius' needed BOTH a way to draw enough cards to make Omniscience matter plus a way to kill Kaervek. That's all hypothetical danger, there'sa good chance he can't pull that all off at once with a small hand size. Jimmy and Josh she knew had access to tons of guarunteed resources.
So does it seem silly in retrospect? Sure. But the overall threat assessment was correct. I'd have kept the omniscience player 10 life lower or extracted political favors from the others before killing him earlier, but Jimmy could have chosen to throw the damage at Cassius too - and there is long term value in keeping your word even if it disadvantages you.
I have a policy that I will honor the spirit of my deals even if it kills me in Commander, which means I have no trouble getting people to agree to deals. I also have a policy to kill other players that betray deals with me even if it costs me the game. ;)

Yeah it was actually kinda annoying how 50% of the table's threat assessment was so off.
The only two players who properly played to win were Josh and Cassius. Ashleen and Jimmy just handed Cassius the win on a platter by doing deals with Cassius that only hurt them and their only hope to not lose (that being Josh). Ashleen shot her commander's triggers at Jimmy and Josh on the turn Cassius won. She could have killed him with that damage

@@Shadow_Gamer12012 Nah, milling from an empty deck doesn't lose you the game, so it's not an issue. You only lose if you try to draw when empty, not when you get milled while empty. This also means that for example, someone who gets milled until they have an empty deck, but who has cards in hand/can play from graveyard could still win the game if they take out the opponent before their next mandatory draw.

The dream turn 1 in my mono black deck: Swamp--> Dark Ritual--> Sol Ring--> K'rrik--> Necroptotence. One day it'll happen. And I'll probably lose that game somehow.

It’s honestly possibly the worst misplay I’ve ever seen on Game Knights. I don’t know what she didn't see, because my 2 year old nephew could have seen that Hullbreacher-Omnicience problem coming.

Having only started playing Magic a few months ago, watching these videos really shows me how I'm barely scratching the surface on the crazy possibilities this game holds. Could not be more excited to keep playing for years to come. Thank you guys for the awesome content and for convincing me to play just by watching you!

@@Baby-Blue-102 blue green and swamp are the most popular I think, in my playgroup everyone is mainly only blue, Blue/Green, Swamp, Mountain, Mountain/Water and then another 2 swamp mountains and 1 Person plays Plains/ Water
Just in commander. I think other formats suck... You have always your 4 copies of a card there and do always the same. Just Commander makes Magic playable

Ashlen and jimmy literally helped cassius every step of the way and then somehow seemed surprised when he won. Yikes at the level of threat assessment derp there.
Can't agree with this comment enough. You can see the Cassius win coming at least a turn or two ahead of time, and Ashlen could have reneged the deal she had going with Kaervek a lot sooner (at least by the time she knew omniscience was in his hand) to put Cassius within kill range right around the time he was able to cast the card.
I almost feel like they threw the game to him at some point, this win was so telegraphed.

sometimes it feels that they are so concerned with what Josh could play that they focus on him while letting the real threat taking over the game. I remember something very similar happened also in previous episodes.
I think and hope Both alshey and jimmy would make better calls in a non show scenario, if not they simply are bad commander players
@@franbecares420 I would hope so. I've seen Ashlen play some dang good games of commander on here before, and I remember her acknowledging Omniscience as a dangerous card in previous games, so I don't know why in the world she would let that slide here.

Winning a timespiral remastered game with a Teferi, Master of Time in play, drawing the combo piece. It is like poetry, it rhymes.
The blatant ignoring of Cass's threat was funny. Poor Josh knew the danger since it's a deck he would build.
Cassius' deck was so close to being an cEDH deck it was great to see the stack plays, I think it would be really awesome to see some of the cEDH community(play to win or playing with power or likewise channels) in one of these episode or maybe extra turns because those games can be really fun and you could even play more casual level decks even with them. Would be great to see as an avid cEDH enthusiasts

The episode is very entertaining at the beginning but becomes progressively more frustrating. Are Jimmy and Ashlyn genuinely scared of Cassius? I'm struggling to see any other reason that they would let him get away with basically everything. Fair play to Josh for identifying threats and responding to them sensibly.

That whole Kaervek deal seems fun and all until huge spells were being dropped. At that point damage should have been used wisely. Would have totally changed the game if Jimmy's 12 and Cassius' 10 were sent to his face.
I agree with the 12 from Jimmy wiping the board. Perhaps a mistake to not kill Breacher with it though. The 10 should've gone to Cash's face tho.
Actually a with spell x in a mana costs x is equal to 0 when checking cmc, so it should have only been 2 damage

@@jacobjensen7704 he was probably aiming for value. His commander gains 2 instant red mana when it attacks. While she can tap for 1 green. Its not a good ramp unless jimmy had swiftfoot boots or lightning greaves.
Plus, if I understood correctly, he probably already had that force of vigor in hand and choose not to use it.

Actually probably the best episode all the huge stack situations, all the learning experiences after big mistakes, and just really cool deck interactions I LOVED this one!
This game reminds me way too much of my playgroup. “Hey guys, we gotta watch out, someone try to remove it.” And rather than, “I don’t have the removal we need,” it’s always “Nah we good.” Until we all lose.
I honestly love the GK episodes where the stack is sky high!! So much fun seeing so much interaction.
I bet Cassius sits on a lower chair so not everyone is massively intimidated
