True. It is only in the original Sun and Moon that you have to wait for Vast Poni Canyon. It is easy to overlook Blush Mountain as it is an optional area, but you can get Vikavolt and Magnezone so much earlier in USUM because of the addition of the special magnetic field there.

Just an FYI for the next time you encounter a mon with Aftermath, the ability only works if the move that kills it is a contact move, and since Shadow Ball wasn't a contact move you would've been fine to stay in with Masquerain
Speaking of which, has anyone ever told you that Leon is the unbeatable champion? I'm sure no one from Galar told you that, so I thought I might mention it.
If I remember, Aftermath only activates if the target uses a contact move on the Pokémon with that ability, and since Masquerain is mostly a special attacker, the switch was unneccessary. That's my only minor gripe on this amazing Hardcore Nuzlocke.
Honestly I'm really happy you used Masquerain, one of my favourite pokemon, as a pretty good sweeper. Seeing it demolish Accerolas team and seeing it stand its game with some strong ass pokemon like Volcarona and Golisipod makes me happy

Telling you, as one who's one of my favorite type is Bug, Alola is the greatest lineup of Bug types. Sadly Durant wasn't a part of the Alola dex otherwise you would have a literal nuke at your disposal

I think the reason why Lycanroc didn't go for Continental Crush is because Araquanid is part Water and Bug, so the game might only register the Water part, and decide that they would not be able to K.O you with Continental Crush. It's at least the only thing I can think of!
I have no clue whether anyone has mentioned it yet but at 22:50 when you mentioned Drifblim’s aftermath the ability actually only takes effect when the Pokémon is knocked out by a move that makes contact, so it was completely safe to shadow ball there.

Gen 7 was the one that really sealed Bug as my favorite type. I ran a combo of Golisopod and Vikavolt and absolutely demolished my nuzlock. Golisopod is just so much fun to use, especially if you run him with an eject button in competative.
Not sure if you know this but in the Ultra games, they made it possible to evolve pokemon that evolve in the electro magnetic field, over near the ghost trial. if you go left twice and go up the hill, theres a small electricity museum of sorts that allow the evolution, since vast pony canyon is pretty late

Word of advice: Araquanid learns Mirror Coat at level 50. If you give it a focus sash you can one-shot U-Necrozma on the first turn

I discovered that by accident when my Magneton leveled up and straight up evolved. I wondered WTF! Didn't know that was possible on purpose.
I really appreciate that they did that because the third island in my opinion is the perfect time to get the power of Vikavolt

I'm pretty sure that is only in regular sumo. I think in the ultra games they changed it so that the trial starts at the beginning

The reason why lycanroc went for bite and not continental crush is most likely dewpider and araquanid have water as their first type
