The last one (Remy) passed away last January. He loved to go door dashing with me. I called him the world's tiniest dasher. 🤣 He was extremely pro about it. Never ever bothered anyone's food because he automatically knew that it wasn't for him or us.
That is adorable. I saw one ferret do this to show her owner that she'd had babies. Then, whenever he would try to leave, she kept bringing him back like she was saying "these are YOURS now. I need you to help me raise these fuzzy jellybeans" lol
It makes me so sad when I can’t climb into bed with them. They want the whole pack to sleep together and they consider you part of the pack. I’m so honored when an animal accepts me as one of them and nobody shows it better than ferrets.

When both my babes were diagnosed with Adrenal disease last spring I got cuddle clones made of each of them, because I knew one would likely be alone for awhile after the other passed, and honestly they did great work. I was even able to get them to make them different sizes, since my male was literally 2x the size of my female. Cuddle clones did fantastic work (however, very pricey) and I was able to let them sleep with their clones before my male was laid to rest this winter. After a few months, I was sure the clone had begun to smell more like my female then my male so I began sleeping with it to smell it all up, like you did. She loves that thing, maybe because it looks like her big brother and smells like mom? She's able to use it as a pillow the way she used to with him and she's adjusted better then I thought she would after his passing. Maybe try a more ferret shaped toy, long and slinky with lots of stuffing, or a more human-like toy, like a child's doll.

It’s a little like my dog’s blanket from when he was a puppy. He’s ten now and his blanket has been washed every week, but he still insists on having it at night in his dog bed.
It’s the purest thing. I had this rat, born with only 3 feet and if she wasn’t biting onto me as she walked somewhere then she simply wouldn’t go there. I miss her so much

YES. Ok, so one of my nuetured male cats has a humping problem. He specifically humps my blanket. So i bought a stuffed duck plushie... he wouldnt touch it. Then i slept on it as a pillow for a couple weeks... boom! Its his girlfriend now.

From someone who has resued hundreds of ferrets you wont break the habit of them mothering you, they just love you enough to want you to live in with them. Just gotta live with it and enjoy the fact they love you that much.
