Thanks for Watching Животные
From what I've experienced, you can tell the mood of the electric blue acara by looking at the middle section of their body. If it's in a dominant position, it'll be almost black, if it's low down in the pecking order then it'll be a very faded olive. When they are aggravated and want to fight a fish, the top part will be extremely faded and only the point where a nuchal hump would be will be a black color. Also when they're ultra stressed the electric blue parts will turn a whitish silver.
this is correct
I have 2. They are my favorite fish in my 125...absolutely love them. Great looking tank! Well done.👍

wusup D, that is a cool little cichlid, never knew it closely related 2 the green terror...good stuff👍😎👌
Thank You, yeah I will back I bought a regular acara sold to me as a green terror...the look really similar when their small!
I love this fish! I have one in my tank who is generally peaceful except against a firemouth who is the tank boss.
Thank you, their awesome!
awesome tank man.. saw you on p babe channel thought i'd say hi.. love the tank .
Thank You, yes we all love PB! I subscribed
I have had a electric blue for over a year now and like their personality. I really like those stripped red hook silver dollars. I can't find them in my area.
Thank you, yes I love how mild they are
Ive got a trial run going in my tank right now. Ive got a small eba with 2 pearl and one gold gourami. So far so good.
I had mine with gold and blue gourami with no problems
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS good to hear.
He's a little cutie DW my LFS has these in but the colours aren't very special .... yours has a lot of really nice colour to him for sure 🤗🤗
Thank You PB!
I love my EBA
They are awesome!
Hi Darius, I would like to know where did you bought the background of this thank, is amazing. Thank you

how much did they cost? I was looking into getting these, I have a convict setup, I just put it together
Mine costed $7 as a juvenile
i just bought 2 more Juvenile EB Acara's. gotta wait until they grow so they can Join my older one and my Jack Dempsey. i have videos of them on my profile (: i enjoyed your video! Subscribed
Nice...I'll check them out!
highly underrated fish
Yes a lot of people look pass them but their awesome!
Beautiful fish!!
very nice fish, i thought they were more agressive
Thank You, yeah they are pretty mild...I've seen people keep them with small tetra
I bought two from PetSmart. You They just have had fry twice within a few months. I had them in a community tank, but has changed them to a 40 gallon breeder.
I just got one! 😍😊
They are awesome!
@@dwsdarius i have my electric blue acara in the same tank as my electric blue jack dempsy cichlid.
I also found out that they are a hybrid of a electric blue german blue ram cichlid and the acara cichlid. 😊
Yes that bright blue isn't natural....if these where in the wild a predatory bird would spot them from a mile away!
@@dwsdarius true
I was waiting for you to do a video on these...lol
Lol, Thanks...these fish are awesome!
They seem like, they are alittle more laid back than, most cichlids.
And both the blue and Electric blue variety are gorgeous.
Yes, a lot better than their cousins the green terror
Much better I think, lol
Used to have a Sciaenochromis fryeri. Loved that fish and had such a personality.
thanks for subscribing to my channel as well, it helps a lot :). I know i don't have a lot of fishkeeping videos for now, but yesterday, i have done like 7 shorts one, just to show a little bit of my aquarium, if you are interest in looking :). also, what is the minimum tank size of the electric blue Acara? and could it live with germans blue rams?
Minimum sized I'd say should be 40gallons...a I think that they would do well with the rams...they will be more dominate but they shouldn't kill them! I'll check out those clips!
is that sand substrate ?
This is a very fine gravel that comes from a nearby lake
Beautiful fish, what kind of gravel is that? Brand? I like that it’s fine
Thank you, I actually collected that gravel from a nearby lake
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS oh wow you’re Lucky! It’s really nice gravel, thanks for the reply
It's a male. The top fin is long and pointed in the rear. Females are rounded
nice! i just got some more fish also!! :0) few cichlids and a medium fire eel. gonna give the fire eel another try lol! got my 600g up. just need to install the sump and plumbing today.. ill post a vid of the new fish ;0) btw what kind of fish is the sd lookin tiger striped?
Thank You, what's the dimensions on your 600g, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to fit one in my basement but still want to know! Those are metynnis fasciatus, striped silver dollars...they are awesome!
dwsdarius 144x30x30 filling water in it as we speak lol! i have a 144x30x24 for sale also lol! was gonna use it but upgraded to the one im fillin up. dude takes forever to fill this thing with water ":0 ( wont be ready till few more days.. ran into bulk head problems..
Wow...so your going with a sump system....or maybe I should just wait for that video lol
my female is almost 5".
I have two of them and again can't tell the difference but I do have some concerns as the one sits in one spot in my tank all day do you know if this is normal
Do you see any aggression, it could be that the more dominate one is forcing the other to stay in that corner...they can be more aggressive towards their own kind in smaller tanks
@@dwsdarius thank you for ur response I was told that they are both male and yes I agree I am thinking of swapping one of them out for a female
Used to have a couple of these, but they died of ich. They were very nice before that though
That sucks...I hate ich!
Do you think that one of those is good tank mate for an Oscar?
I've seen them mixed before, but I wouldn't do it because these Acara are much more peaceful than Oscars
i have one do they show more color as they mature?
Usually they show these colors once that hit 1.5 inches...if yours is larger and isn't showing this color you could have a regular blue acara
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS he's like yours but he just have a lighter blue on the body i still think he's electric cuz i also have a striped blue arca with little green shiny dots on each side of his body and i think he's the regular one
Oh than maybe its a dominance issue...does he rank low in the tank
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS hes like the second one my jewel cichlid is first i only have 3...regular blue acara jewel and the electric blue acara im gonna add maybe 2 more fish i have a 56 gallon any suggestions on what i should add that'll be good with these guys i just started the hobby maybe 2 months ago lol
I do hope you get a male and breed them! They are totally cool looking!
Thank you, I still need to do a bit more learning because someone pointed out that mine might actually be a male!
Oh LOL! But the main thing I believe is you have the Spark!
If it's a hybrid, you can't breed them. Hybrids are sterile.
@@travisera1 they're not hybrids and they can produce viable fry with both green terrors, standard blue acaras and other electric blue acaras
Great video, what fish do you have in this tank? I'm setting up an American cichlid tank myself so looking for as much info as possible, thanks.
Thank you, at this point the tank was full of peaceful fish (now I have predators in here), including different types of rainbow fish, barbs, danio, angel fish, discus, Geophagus steindachneri, Geophagus red head topajo, stripped and spotted silver dollars, cory cats and that Acara
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS thank you for that, quite the variety there!
8 different type of German blue Rams in a 55 gallon planted tank can I put two electric blue acaras in there
Yes you should be able to...the acara get bigger so they will be at the top of the hierarchy always but the 2 should coexist well
Yeah, I think there's a guy on RUclips who breeds them. But I'm sure I read somewhere they don't breed true? When I was around 15 years old (30 years ago) I got a group of the normal Blue Acara's and 1Brown/Port Acara came with the deal. These Electric Blue's would work OK with Firemouth's.
Stephen Bambe they actually breed true
That's something I might find out soon, mine is definitely looking like a female!
How many can I have in 63 gallon and what other fish can I have with them .thanks
A male and female would be fine, but if you wanted a colony perhaps 6 can fit in a 63 gallon. They do well with most peaceful fish like tetra barbs, platy's, mollys etc.
Thanks
nice video! i just got a 75 gallon. would you do a tank full of these and some angel fish? if so, how many of each?
Thank you, If you get a group of these acara they would mostly likely pair off as adults, claim territories, breed and fight each other. I'd probably keep a single mated pair in a 75g, lots of décor to create a smaller territory for them...and maybe a colony of 6 angel fish
Right on. I’d most likely be buying two baby acaras hoping to get a male and a female. If I don’t get that and I get two males will they end of fighting all the time? Thanks
Yes they will fight often...however given enough plants and other decor it shouldn't be to the death
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS in your video it say they do well with angels, discus and geos all those fish I was targeting. What combo of each would you recommend? Wound it even be possible?
One last question. If you had a choice between angels, discus, geo, and acaras. How would you stock a new 75 gallon tank?
No convict cichlid fishes in Ur tank!?!
How do you have so much o2 with so little plants ? :C
High service agitation allows for more oxygen exchange which increases oxygen levels. In tanks without plants a use a circulation pump pointed towards the surface and that gets the job done
@@dwsdarius oh thx you very much ! :)
Hi. Darius. I've been watching your videos and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Them!! And I've been taking notes 🤯😂 I've finally have my 75 gallon aquarium setup😀😀 ; and I was gifted an Electric Blue Acara ,2 Bueno Aires Tetras, 1 Rainbow Shark, 1 Electric Blue Ram and 1 Electric Blue Striped Cichlid and 1 Tiger striped Loach 😀Can you please let me know if I can add Rainbowfish, Gourami and Barbs ? Thank you so kindly 🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠😀
That's awesome, sounds like you have a beautiful tank! First I recommend increasing the school of your tetra to at least 5...with just 2 they may fight to the death! Rainbow fish can work, gourami is a hit or miss... if they look similar to your cichlids (like a blue gourami), then you may have aggression issues...and with barbs, just like tetra they need to be kept in groups to behave properly so you would need at least 5
Awww😃 Mr. Darius thank you so kindly for replying!!! I wish I could send you a video of the tank. Yesterday I added 2 Bala Sharks and 1 little ADORABLE Ram .
Oh and YEP the Tetras are fighting 😫😫😫
Nice, I wasn't aware their pattern was human-made. I see them for sale from time to time at my LFS...pricey and their supposedly gravel diggers, so I've been told.
Thank You, mine don't do much digging...but I suppose that a mated pair would dig out a nest, in my area the price for these isn't bad...I got mine for $7
they turn black n white when breeding
That's cool, I thought that mine was a female but now I think its a male, based on what other viewers said
that's a male..the male has a deeper darker blue..when they get mature during breeding the female will go almost white..I have a pair trying to spawn right now..but that's a beauty male ..also the male get a Lil longer trailer find on the dorsile like the male convict and firemouth...
Oh wow....well I did think it strange for this much color to be seen, I plan to add a few more so then I'll know for sure males from females! Thanks!
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS ...yeah the dorsal fin seems to be longer, more pointy on the male.
It's a male but because of the fin tips. Deeper blue does not matter as I have both deep blue in females, and lighter. The way to tell is at maturity, males filaments get longer. But before that you have to really inspect their vent. Males are much smaller and just a thin nub, where females is more broad and square. It is hard to 100% sex these guys until they are 3 or 4" long. Males don't get the filament extensions, usually until their body is over 3" long, closer to 4". I think you are mostly correct, but the vent, and then just how they act towards each other is the way to sex. At a store with a tank full of smaller, but cheaper juveniles, watch and see if the more aggressive fish are most likely male, and if they somewhat seem to tolerate or even want to be around an equal sized fish, maybe pick those 2 as a possible pair. Or buy 5 that seem to have slightly different characteristics and most likely you'll have at least one male and one female. I breed them now, but my first time buying, I got 3. 3 small ones that put them in the $10 price range instead of the $25 that larger ones cost. All 3 of mine, even though one was quite a bit bigger, all 3 were male. I had to go find an adult female, pay the higher price for her. Her and my larger male instantly paired up, within a day they were inseparable.
Your acara is a male :) males have longer ends on the dorsal fin and are more vibrant than the females.
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure yours is male. One quick way to tell is if the dorsal and anal fins are pointed or rounded, pointed meaning male.
Yes it turned out being a male
These guys ARE a hybrid, but they are not crossed with green terrors, they are crossed with electric blue rams which is how they get their bight colour and more peaceful temperament.
this is a misconception spread by many. electric blue acaras are the same type as standard blue acaras just selectively bred. EBA can't cross with rams and although they can and will hybridize with green terrors the offspring have the green terror colour and the acara size and shape
