Throughout this video I had in my head that the "kit" is $32 which isn't bad value... But of course that is just for two elastomers, so whilst they do work well I think they are quite expensive.
Agreed - I'd like to try these but given the price its a bit of a gamble if you dont like them...£50ish / 64 euro for 4 elastomers is way too much particularly given you really need the 4 to find the best combo for yourself. Thanks for the review - i too have found the CSL LC rock solid and would like a little more travel so at least its good to know that we're now seeing products out there to modify.
I ordered 2 progressive yesterday. Fanatec really should sell this directly on their website. MY pedal is SUPER hard, and the is no feel to the pedal at all.
I was one of the few who commented how stiff mine was on the last video. How mistaken I was to complain. The rubber will break in a little bit and get a tiny bit softer. The travel will still not be much but it will be what it should be. Short, responsive and direct without unnecessary travel. Remember, you're NOT trying to make it feel like the spongy/squishy pedals in your road car(whish is really what this mod does). You want the initial travel as short as possible but with enough to get muscle memory going. After some time you will adjust and brake by pressure rather than travel. If you really must change something, try die springs! 20mmx25mm(ODxL) light load(blue) or 20mmx25mm medium load(red)
Had the same feeling, after some time it worked quite well. Nevertheless I modded mine with a spring, but it’s too weak now. Will probably undo the changes and stick to original build
Received my load cell pedal just today, and there's no a lot of movement. I've no race car experience, but it's like a road car without the engine running and you've pumped the pedal a few times - rock solid. Better than the spongy feel of the regular pedal but still not realistic for me, these could be the perfect solution. Great video as always, cheers.
Use it. It will beak in after a few hours. The load cell works the way race cars work, what this mod does is make it work like road cars. Mushy, spongy as you said. What you'll notice is that your muscle memory will set after a few hours and you'll know the pressure points by feel rather than travel.
@@Disco_Potato I've seen so many sim racers post this... Im not going to get any muscle memory when I'm having to slam my leg into the pedal to make it move at all. I get that these will be stiff, which I wanted, but it literally does not move when I put all my force behind it. This isn't right. I see some play in most videos especially older ones. Fanatec has changed something in new models. There is NO PLAY at all.
Fanatec definitely made a change with their elastomers. There's no way my stock pedals (received May 2022) had as much travel as I've seen in RUclips reviews. Not even close. The 3DRap elastomers took care of it though. Thanks for the video.
Karl your a god send making a video on these the load cell pedal is very stiff so I'm definitely gunna get some and give them a go also love the ''Bowling Ball Grip''
After a while with mine CSL loadcell I have a suspicion that fanatec changed the polymers to a harder one, with youtubers all having an earlier production run. After a couple of months of use, and at 70% brake force, it still has like 1cm travel. I see video reviews moving the pedal more just with their hands. When I popped my polymer stack out like you did in the video, it had so much force built up that the whole thing flew into pieces all over the room. And the black bushings snapped, so it's good that they do a replacement of a different material. I couldn't get it back together again so ended up cutting one of the polymers in half, which weirdly has helped the brake feel. Shame that these are very overpriced for a piece of rubber though
Great vid mate, just ordered a set of linear for mine and was looking for a decent installation video to make sure i fitted these correctly! 👍🏻 thanks again buddy.
When i got my loadcell i thought it was faulty it was so stiff, literally felt like i was pushing on a brick wall. On day 2 i thought i had wasted my money and considered selling. I've now had it for almost 2 weeks and put a few hours on it and it feels completely different. Whilst it has softened a little, you adapt to it and it actually now feels like it has a lot more travel than what it actually does as you adapt to the new scale of range. I'd recommend to anyone who has purchased to at least give it 2 weeks before modifying.
As someone who got the CSL pedals with the loadcell kit mainly for f1 purposes I wanted a stiff brake pedal, it kind of shocked me too of just how stiff it was but I really like it, it has softened a tiny bit but overall still solid
I've got 2 linear and my experience has improved greatly! I only play Rally and like a softer brake pedal so it's pretty near perfect for me. Plus I have a playseat challenge, and stiff pedals on there can be tricky.
These look pretty great but the price is just outrageous. Disappointing from 3DRap. Hoping someone else comes out with an identical product at a similar price.
Yeah it's funny as throughout the video I had in my head the whole "kit" was $32 but that is of course just for two elastomers! Not such good value even though they do work well.
@@KarlGosling even if the product itself is overpriced, your video spends a lot of time carefully and clearly showing how to get the brake rod out and change the bushings, which is useful for all mods of this type. I was about ready to start unscrewing things when I looked at it, so thank you for that!
I’m with you, they are overpriced, but they’re making bespoke sim gear so I suppose they have to turn a profit somehow. My pedal was literally unmovable and I can squat over 500 pounds. I bought the single linear spacer on Amazon and it only made a tiny difference. And just like Karl says in the vid, I broke my OEM black plastic pin thingies trying to reinstall the “spring” setup. So I was relegated to going to the actual 3drap site to get the replacement pins and a second linear elastomer. So in the end I’m out about $80 usd which is a lot considering it should’ve worked out of the box from Fanatec. I don’t like to think about how much I’ve spent on my rig, but in the end, the amount I’ve spent on this 3drap stuff is pretty nominal; relatively speaking
FYI, I was very unhappy with the pedal stiffness/ travel and also saw these. Thought no way I’m spending almost 100$ plus wait however long for shipping. I found some coil springs on Amazon and 200% better than stock. Went from 1” of pedal travel to just over 2” while still maintaining a decent stiffness. So good so far. Only time will tell on their durability.
@@turbod15 the yellow spring is the softest and blue is medium stiffness. No point in the red spring as they are as hard as the original elastomer. You can decide to go for 2 originals and one spring of your choice or just both springs. Personally I bought one yellow and one blue as they are cheap to play around with to see what feels better. Currently I'm using 2 original elastomers and the yellow spring but might change to the blue spring...
Just adding some points - I think Fanatec have revised the standard elastomer due to early ones (which were softer) braking apart which I've seen on the forums. New batches have stronger and stiffer ones. For those little plastic pieces that they say wear out, I'd say it's more for people braking them rather than wearing out. I personally broke one of mine taking the original elastomers out and know a few people who have done the same.
I just got these, easy install. If ur invested in ur setup these r a must! Yeah there expensive but so was your pedal. It would of been more if they offered different stiffness in mass production. I was told this was to cut costs. I got mine couldn't be happier full linear
My standard Fanatec pedal is like your original review unit after some use to bed in, feels just right to me. I did find it was hurting the ball of my foot when brake pressure was set to higher levels but a pair of sim hound slippers bought on your recommendation sorted that out!
Made a world of difference to my load cell pedal. The original pedal just made my foot feel numb to the pressure over long races. Now it has much more feel to it & better brake modulation over the length of the race 🤔
Great Video as always Karl. I received my 3DRap Tuning kit last week and it’s made the Brake Pedal so much nicer to use. I went with the Hybrid Setup using 1 Progressive and 1 Linear Elastomer. I ordered 1 of each, however 3DRap sent 1 Linear and 4 Progressive so I have various options.
I bought the 3DRAP hybrid for my CSL load cell and it has made it a lot easier to trail brake. It was difficult to get use to how stiff the Fanatec load cell pedals
I’m glad you decided to review these Karl as I was looking at them already but unsure which to purchase. The only true way to know which are best is to buy all but the price is too high for me personally to order all of them to then only use one setup. I’m new to Sim Racing, driven the everyday car for 15+yrs, done a few track experiences with sports cars but never driven a race car. I have the Fanatec DD Pro (8Nm) with Load Cell Pedal. Which setup would you use to allow me to experience a middle ground for most cars in GT7, ACC, F1 2022 (when I get it) and not lose the benefit of a LC? I’ll only be playing on my PS5 which I’m happy with. I’m not a hard core Sim Racer (yet) as it’s early days but I like to try and future proof my purchases as opposed to buying cheap and then constantly upgrading and changing things up. 3D Wrap didn’t say much other than “Hybrid or Linear” 🤷🏼♂️
I was looking for something like this. At the moment I've taken the foam out of the standard pedal and put it in place of the top elastomer on the spring. Its a bit soft but I have a bit of travel which is better for me.
i had a super stiff load cell and went with the double linear kit. feels a lot better. i was getting maybe 10mm or less of travel at 100%. i could only use 45-50% brake force. i did use them for hours and would just press/pump the pedal when not playing because it is close to my pc to hopefully get them to break in, but it just stayed like a rock. this kit is expensive but was really what i was hoping it would be. also my pedals were so stiff there was no squeezing the elastimer stack with my hands. i had to pry them loose with a covered screwdriver for leverage! sucks the price bridges the gap between the clubsport pedals lol. but getting these is slightly more convenient then selling my current ones and ordering new clubsports lol. great video though! wish you would have shown the travel you were getting before and after though.
Thank you Karl. Great review. I went ahead and purchased the progressive kit. I have only installed 1 progressive elastomer and left the rest of the load cell with the stock. What a difference!! I have jumped onto to F1 23 time trial and did 3 different circuits and on each of them have immediately completely blitzed my previous times when I was using the stock set up. Great video and review, thank you 👍
Would love to see the mod the Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals, but also your honest opinion using them compare to the stock pedals. Got my T-LCM straight out the box and really love them. Even didn’t change the springs. I came from a Logitech G920 so the difference is already really noticeable. I had the shifter mod from 3D-rap actually on my g920 and I must admit that they deliver some quality products. But didn’t used it for long because I switched to the TS-XW. And as always: good review mate! 👊🏻
I have been waiting for your review of these. Firstly I agree with others that mine has virtually no travel but personally I like it like that. I have been curious about this "tuning kit" after looking at fanatec's own tuning kit for the V3 (I think). The difficulty I have is I have no idea which elastiomer combination would suit me, especially as I quite like it as it is. Buying these at 18 euros a piece seems expensive for someone who is curious. If it was let's say £50 for a full set I would probably buy some but at 72 Euro and then adding shipping and duties and customs costs makes it a bit lest attractive.
I'd recommend in your case getting the hybrid kit then as you can try 3 different combinations. Although I've found over time with mine (I was one of the first to buy this kit so have a lot of use) the best feeling is just a single progressive elastomer.
So basically use a finger a thumb on the flange 😂 so do you know what the shore ratings are on the linear and progressives ?? And can these be used on the CSL Elite V1 LC Pedals ? Cheers
Karl, another great video. I was looking at getting the csl pedals with load cell, but everything I watch says the load cell is too stiff, so I tried them at a local shop and they were right. So it has turned me off getting them until I saw these mods to help the stiffness. But in Canada these mods are $40 for a pair, plus $40 in shipping. So that is another negative for me getting the load cell unfortunately. So I was going to get the two pedal set without load cell, and try to make a better rubber insert for the pedal to make them more progressive and stiff. Any idea how to make a better rubber insert for the basic csl pedals? I can't justify spending $400 on the csl lc pedals then spending another $80 just so they are usable for me. Thanks Karl and keep up the great videos, they are great.
I like mine as it is too, but it's not about pressure or travel it's about personal preference, real life cars (race, track and road) all have very different brake setups, there is no one size fits all so it's great to have options! :) But yes the price is too much!
Hi Kerl ! would have been possible to compare the travel pedal gain before and after ? and what is the advantage you reckon whan adopting ? on load cell isn't the pressure rather then travel pedal what it matter ? thtat regardless of travel pedal won't change ?
Does anybody know how to fix a fluctuating load cell brake??? I just opened these and this issue was already there 😭😭😭 it gets worse as I turn down the pressure sensitivity, if anyone knows how to fix it please help.
Do you mean it's registering an input when you're not pressing the pedal? If so try calibrating it (deadzones), or if it's really bad maybe faulty or you have earthing or electrical noise issues?
@@KarlGosling yeah that happens too sometimes but not always, when I press the brake pedal it's values fluctuate more than 10% which is not normal I guess.. Even if I keep a steady pressure it keeps flickering... However when I turn the pressure sensitivity all the way up it's better but I don't want to keep it at 100% all the time that requires too much force for me, also my pedals are not mounted so going all the way up just doesn't work for me... And I have zero knowledge about electricity and stuff, do you have any tutorial showing how to properly ground my pedals step by step? I also suspected EMI but I've tried plugging the USB away from the other connections but no difference... Grounding is my last hope to make it work...
@@KarlGosling as you suspected, turns out it's an earthing issue. The electrician came and checked and found there's no earthing at all! Calling the landlord now! Thank you so much!!!
Hey Karl, thanks for making me aware of another product that I didn't know existed. How would you say the two hard ones feel compared to what the load cell comes with?
the problem for me was not being able to heel toe properly. i always heel toe in my mx5, and in that i can control brake pressure and revs perfectly at any speed. i got the full linear mod for my rig and now i can heel toe perfect when braking hard, but its still harder than a real car. just incase anyone here had the same problem. 🤙
got my load cell today and wow how bad is that load cell stiffness. Mine dont even move 1mm at all. Bought me some hybrid so hopefully my brake peddle actually feels like 1. Dunno why fanatec thing a brake pedal dont move lolz
Can you do a comparison video on the stiffness of the original loadcell vs 3DRAP mod vs TrueBrake for g29? I am considering an upgrade of the pedals but heard its very stiff, but since I have got used to TrueBrake now (which is very stiff), I wonder how stiff the csl lc is comparing to TrueBrake
I would like the pedal to have a little travel and then start firming up, like in my real car, rather than feeling the same all the way down. I guess only hydraulics will do that?
Hey Karl, nice review! I love running just a single progressive elastomer. Would you also be interested in trying out a throttle/clutch mod kit I've designed for the CSL pedals? It's basically ready for sale now, just getting the website up and running but I've already sold a couple through Facebook groups here in the UK.
Lol, I can't stop thinking about the average simracer ( young kid, probably not very built ) trying to remove the elastomer the same way :)))))))))) I`m not to big nor to small, but I had to get creative with some levers and stuff to get that thing out.....
Bit like BBJ and their mods for thrustmaster pedals in particular.... Starting out as £10 a year and abit ago, now they're closer to 40, you'd expect them to atleast be made out of sturdier material.... But nope still typical weak 3d printed stuff

I'd just pick up a set of V3's second hand for around £250-£300 mate, plenty out there.
Happy with my loadcell as I received it. It's about pressure not travel. Besides the price on this is quite expensive.
I like mine as it is too, but it's not about pressure or travel it's about personal preference, real life cars (race, track and road) all have very different brake setups, there is no one size fits all so it's great to have options! :)
But yes the price is too much!
Hi Kerl ! would have been possible to compare the travel pedal gain before and after ? and what is the advantage you reckon whan adopting ? on load cell isn't the pressure rather then travel pedal what it matter ? thtat regardless of travel pedal won't change ?
Yes It literally only changes how it feels and moves under foot, the pressure required at the load cell does not change.
I just bought some of these from 3DRap, but not no yellow bushes included.
It sounds like progressive would be more conducive to trail braking. Is that accurate?
It's the way most high end brake pedals are these days and seems to be popular, I guess Fanatec wanted to follow suite with these.
I no longer have the TrueBrake mate, but if you are used to that then you will be fine with the CSL LC pedals mate.
@@KarlGosling That’s good to know, thanks!
Good review don’t know if I would like it as feel the ultra still feel ok but maybe movement in pedal would aid trail braking more
Does this throw the load cell calibration off?
Do the little bushings come with the kits or is it a separate purchase?
They come with if I remember correctly... but you'd need to check their website to be sure.
Anyone else whant a video review of the socks?
review the sf1000 pls
I do not have a TM wheel base to use it on mate sorry.
hey man will you review the moza r9?
They have not contacted me about it so probably not.
Not useful to me but still interesting to watch. Or I'd say is, colour is a bit awkward if you like a tidy colour matched rig
Think of Vale Yellow and Lewis Hamilton or Lando Norris.
Yeah it doesn't match anything I have either... I just like yellow! lol
I would like the pedal to have a little travel and then start firming up, like in my real car, rather than feeling the same all the way down. I guess only hydraulics will do that?
Lmao. 2... no comments!! Great video mate!!
Yes mate drop me an email at karlgosling.yt@gmail.com
Only $70 CAD for a couple pieces of rubber and shipping? seems a bit much. I understand they make them for profit but that's insane.
Sure is.
Lol, I can't stop thinking about the average simracer ( young kid, probably not very built ) trying to remove the elastomer the same way :)))))))))) I`m not to big nor to small, but I had to get creative with some levers and stuff to get that thing out.....
+16euro for shipping from EU to EU.... must be very heavy package
Really easy, me sweating trying to put this thing back in, Jesus Christ
lol
Bit like BBJ and their mods for thrustmaster pedals in particular.... Starting out as £10 a year and abit ago, now they're closer to 40, you'd expect them to atleast be made out of sturdier material.... But nope still typical weak 3d printed stuff
£27 quid minimum for just one linear!!!!!
Are they taking the Fg piss!
£27 quid for one poxy little bit of rubber OMG....
just ordered a pair of each
33 bucks for a pair of small rubber 🤨
too expensive should be a few options in a kit for that price
Agreed mate!
Just use glue sticks people and stop getting ripped off . Put stick inside spring and the job is 100% better . Hey and guess what its 95% cheaper .
