    Really informative review, as someone looking at a budget second rig just for console use in living room. Was eyeballing Thrustmaster, but may instead hold out for whatever Fanatec cooks up for PS5 soon instead. Having Tom on-hand to discuss and bounce opinions was great, definitely feel he should be included on such reviews more often. Cheers!

      They simply have the best detailed, knowledgeable and honest reviews on YT. Will's engineering background shines through. As a service engineer myself, design, serviceability and reliability are totally interconnected and integral to the value of a product. So many companies make stupid design or component choices that show the product has not been designed properly, nor tested sufficiently. Hello Moza!

      Highly recommend the Truebrake mod (see reviews on here and Sim Racing Garage) and the magnetic shifter mod. With these two mods you will have the brake and shifting feel similar to a good load cell brake, with shifting that feels better than some very expensive dedicated wheels.
      It's keeping me going until my CSL DD and V3 pedals finally arrive.

    As someone with the T-LCM pedals, this video feels really validating. I've had them for about a year now and I'm still not happy with them. I've done almost everything. Different springs. Different amounts of washers. Different deadzones. Different brake force settings. I've tried brake mods, nothing has really made me feel happy and confident with them. I'm now wondering if it's based on the throw of the pedals. I feel like you only feel the loadcell at the last half or quarter of the travel. It feels like that defeats the purpose of a loadcell as you'd want to modulate braking through stiffness and not through travel. I wish I would have went with Fanatec instead but live and learn.

    • @kevinblythe2192
      @kevinblythe2192 2 года назад

      Agreed. I think the main issue is the T-LCM pedals have a plastic base to which the pedals are attached. The alloy pedals themselves don't flex but it seems like the base does at the anchor point. More pressure on the pedals results in more unnecessary movement where you don't need it. I ordered the newly released Asetek Invicta pedals on pre order last month so that should resolve my disappointment with TM. If this very honest comparison was posted 6 months earlier it would have saved me an unnecessary purchase by sticking with the T3PA's a little longer.

    • @aungp1984
      @aungp1984 2 года назад

      What are the break mods that you've tried on them? I found a mod where you replace the springs with some thick rubber washers you can buy on Amazon and it feels a lot better now, I'm not sure why Thurstmaster didn't design it using the rubber washers in the first place, unless Fanatec has some patent over that design.

    Very informative video guys and one that is completely relevant to me. I've just bought some used (but you would never know it) Fanatec CSL Elite pedals with the load cell brake. I previously had the low-end plastic 2 pedal setup that came bundled with an entry level Thrustmaster wheel. After online racing for the last couple of years, this is my first upgrade purchase and I can't believe how much of an upgrade it already feels. Even removing the components from the packaging they feel a completely different ball game to what I'm used to. Worth every penny and ultimately should make me a little quicker by being able to threshold brake more reliably than what I'm used to. Thanks for continuing to make the great videos and getting me in to the rabbit hole of the sim racing world!

    Thx for the review and comparison to the csl elite pedals. I currently have those and while happy with them, they do annoy me a bit due to the fact that if you misplace your foot a bit, you can get a different reading on the brake because of the loadcell position. But seeing this review, it's not really worth to change it.

    Really helpful review. I ordered the GT DD wheel and got the CSL pedals with the LC. I've been using the original ClubSport V1 pedals so I was a little worried about these, but I think they'll actually be an upgrade. I think the potentiometers on mine are gunked up with 12 years of dust and the brake on the old CSPv1s is mush. I can push that pedal the same way you were able to on the T-LCMs with my index finger. Can't wait to try it all out, going to be a killer wait until March.

    Great review as always. I was first caught off balance, that Fanatec would produce a component with no way to mount on aluminum profile. Then, the mounting solution for the front bolts in aluminum profile was instantly obvious. Using a pair of 90 degree brackets, hanging against the front edge of the cross piece of profile, one bolt goes up, into the pedal base, and one bolt into a t-nut in the single slot of the front edge.

    Originally I played Gran Turismo 5 on a G29. And spent hours driving through nordscleife on the GTR the GT5 producer sponsored and drove for that 24 hour in le mans. Basically they gave that car to GT5 players for free in game. I had a lot of laps on the same track and on suzuka circuit too.
    And that was a blast.
    Now 5+ years on, I am back on PC this time. AC, ACC and iracing.
    And this time with the CSL DD bundle. I know there are more kits out there that are even more expensive but yeah happy with the P1 bundle (now called ready2race bundle with 150 euro discount).
    Bought the load cell kit for it. And later down the line the gt3 wheel.
    Its just fun. Specially improving your driving. With your lap times as an indicator. Without getting flagged lol.
    And with the ability to go for the 8nm boost kit.
    And if not racing, delivering truck loads on ETS2 lmao

    Wow, seriously in-depth review here, this is fantastic to see! (and maybe have on in the background while at work ;) ). The comparison to the Elites was an interesting one since you described them as a side-grade, but I had a question: You only reviewed the CSLs assuming that someone already had the Elites, but what if someone had neither and was looking to get into the system? Comparing the two-pedal set and (hypothetically, since the Elite Load Cell is discontinued) the three-pedal sets, is there one you'd pick over the other?
    My brain is saying the CSLs seem fantastic, but my heart looks at the aluminium construction of the Elites and cries that the LC isn't being made any more...

    • @boostedmedia

      Neither of us really had a subjective preference for either over the other. Objectively the CSL is probably the better choice because it uses hall sensors rather than pots.

      @@RacingPotato12 I had a tlcm for a while with my t300rs, but the basic construction (too much plastic) and the loadcell ring system didn't convinced me (become noisy very fast). I switch on a clubsport v3, it's way much better on any aspect. Ok, it's more expensive so it would be a shame if it was just as good. Still, my brother have this csl pedal (soon with LC), the construction is still better than the tlcm, with full metal construction. It's not as good looking, maybe, but it's more rigid. IMO at the pretty same price range, this csl pedal is better, even the LC charge is a bit lighter than the thrustmaster. The only thing is not nice is the standard face pedal, but it can be changed (with money, damn it fanatec, it should be in the pack...).

      The Thrustmaster TLCM brake pedal is not ideal but when used with the strongest springs AND the additional washers supplied definitely improves the feel by taking up unnecessary slack.

      @@boostedmedia yes I have done this. It's should be already included in my opinion. If you have chance try it just for have a complete view. Pedal feeling changes. Compared to Fanatec probably the construction remain cheaper. One plus for TLCm that you can change pedal plate angle and position. I was looking for a DCsimracing pedal, it can be something compared to Fanatec V3.

    I'm actually quite surprised you guys are so negative about the TLCM's. I saw great reviews and opinions on Reddit and from other Sim youtubers, and i've bought them 2 months ago, and i'm really happy with them tbh. I agree they wobble quite a lot side to side. And the throttle is a bit on the light side. But I have no further complains at all. I really like the fact that the pedal plates are on the wide side. Can rest my foot on it really well.

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  3 года назад +4

      It all depends what you’re comparing to them. Until now there hasn’t really been a competitor in the same price bracket unless you look at load cell mods for entry level pedals. So it makes sense that people were more positive about them given no choice if you want load cell pedals within this price bracket. As we said, there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with them. They just aren’t as good.

    • @MelfjeProductionS
      @MelfjeProductionS 3 года назад +1

      @@boostedmedia Hmm yeah fair enough. What just surprised me is that people said that you could better pick up the TLCM's instead of the old CSL loadcell pedals. And in this video above you guys say that the old CSL loadcell is a sidestep compared to the new CSL loadcells.

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  3 года назад +1

      Both of us would pick either the CSL Elites or CSLs over the TLCMs every day of the week. But pedals are very subjective. If you prefer a much softer pedal then the TLCMs may be the better choice.

      I have owned both the T-LCM and the CSL Elites with LC Brake(current pedals). I was able to have soooo much more control with trail braking, modulating brake pressure, and adjustability/comfort is not even worth comparing. There is literally nothing about the Thrustmasters I desire over the Elites and I will never have them on my rig again.
      That said, they aren't terrible. It is all relative to your own experience. As Will states constantly(as he should), much of this is subjective. But I am pretty surprised so many people would have recommended the T-LCM over the CSL Elites. I guess they are a tad more expensive though.

      Thanks for the encouragement mate. The ear buds I wear in the main rig are Sony XBA-4. Very old now. I won them in an competition when I worked at Sony. Using them because I have them rather than because they’re particularly suited to the task. They were horrendously overpriced at the time and have to be sitting exactly right on your ears or they sound horrible. I actually intend to replace them with some custom moulded in ear monitors soon.
      The headphones are “Bose QuietComfort 35 II”. They were sent over to us for the Porsche All Stars series and we love them. Great sound quality and incredible noise cancelling. Comfortable and lightweight too. I actually have two pairs now. Highly recommended.

    Looking to jump from my T3pa to the CSL pedal with load cell. Looking at the Fanatec design it is very simple...which is awesome. It leaves a ton of room to add different spring and rubber....or even a different load cell unit. I beleive a outer rubber+ spring which is not part of the load cell to offload some force can help for really stiff brakes.
    But I do believe the V3 should get a new version closer to fanatec sprint and similar expensive pedals and skip on the motors and other fluff for better pedals overall in the 300-350€ area

    I own the old elites and bought the T-LCM's about 3 months ago with a broke mod. I like both pedal sets and am fast we both but I've gone back to my old elites. There's just something more professional about them, possibly in the actual construction and way the pedal works. I've ordered the new elites with LC. The T-LCM's are great and so as not to knock them, I just found that the elites were more premium.

    Very, very, very good review! I like that you guys came up on comparing to other sets of pedals on the market. However for me, it's a no brainer, since I already bought the CSL pedals... Load Cell is a must for me. I used the TrueBrake mod for Logitech pedals, which only has 20 kg Force to push all the way down compared to 60 kg on the CSL LC kit.. will see. Was a pleasure to watch the whole review. For me, it is the best amongst the other reviews I saw... And you did not want to unnecessary praise the pedal faces which gave me trust and not thinking about a paid promotion video.

    • @Thisonegoestoeleven666

      What spring did you have installed in the Truebrake mod? I have the 60kg spring and it was pretty stiff already and looks stiffer than the CSL load cell in fact. Don't confuse Load cell capacity with the spring force in the pedal used to apply that force to the load cell. Two very different things.

      @@Thisonegoestoeleven666 I have the v2.1 according to the box, which did not have the option to choose the springs, but the bump stops.
      Thanks for the clarification between the two, all I wanted to say is that I prefer applying force instead of finding the correct travel range for the pedals. That's the reason I'll go with LC.
