The only thing that held me back from CSL DD was the fact that i still play on PS4 and PC. Sucks that the playstation licensing adds the extra cost, but this bundle solves the issue of having a DD for PC without missing out on the playstation games. Broke my rule of never pre ordering, but since the CSL DD lived up to the hype, i picked up the bundle with the 8nm boost kit with your link.
Agree that the DD Pro is a value-packed package out of the box. Would agree also that the Boost Kit 180 (8Nm peak torque vs standard 5Nm) is well worth the price, as is the addition of the load cell brake. The weak link is definitely the wheel. I don't really mind the plastic construction (seems pretty solidly put together to me), and I actually like the semi-tacky feel of the rim. However, as someone with what I consider average sized hands, the wheel just feels cramped and poorly laid out. The buttons are a bit of a stretch to reach, while the grip bulges just above the L and R spokes cause a narrowing that my thumbs hang up on, making it impossible to easily/easily slide my grip toward the top of the rim. All that said, Fanatec's definitely got a winner in the GT Pro bundle!
I love your channel and now I am just setting up a sim rig. I use you advise, keep up the informative videos. I see you had an issue with the t-nuts sliding in the base of the DD and DD Pro. I just received my DD Pro and installed it on my wheel plate. It only took a minute or so. Just mount the t-nuts on the plate in the appropriate holes. I threaded them to the bottom of the whole on the t-nuts, which left some up and down play. If you notice the bottom slots on the DD Pro, there is a channeling slot prior to the mounting slot. All I needed to do, was slightly push the to nuts up by pushing the bolt, and slid the base unit over the nuts. They properly aligned, then all I had to do was tighten the bolts to secure the t-nuts. You don't need any springs or anything on the t-nut; they work as engineered.
I've only just subscribe to your channel and I've been thinking about upgrading my rig been looking at Fanatec I have been a PlayStation user for around 20 years not into PC and you have made up my mind absolutely amazing review I enjoy high end Sims , im going to order a bundle tomorrow many many thanks from Herron W.A, Cheers
Just ordered mine with 8nm. Hope it’s as good as everyone says and still up there with the best of them in 2023. I know the Logitech Dd is out but it’s €600 more in Ireland.
@@davidcupra4913 it’s very lovely, but it’s the only wheel I’ve ever used so I can’t really say how it compares to anything else. A whole lot more than 8 to me sounds like a workout lol. I’ve done a few rallies on generations and that has left me with a nice trap pump and a left arm that needs a break after a few stages.
I just got Gran Turismo DD Pro with CSL BMW Wheel and Loadcell pedals this tuesday and it was all worth it. It's so much better than my old Logitech set, all the details are there and it really feels like a quality product. It's currently mounted to a table with a tableclamp, but it still feels really solid. I can recommend.
I can get the G29 for £150 or the CSL DD GT pro for £850 for similar items I.r both come with basic pedals. Do you think the DD is worth that much more?
Excellent review, you guys are awesome at breaking this stuff down! I'm looking to get this set up for GT7 on my PS5 and weighing up what to buy. I'm weighing up buying the Logitech setup for half the price or taking the plunge on this. New sub here anyways! ✌🏻
Great video excellent that you where able to get early access to this steering I have been waiting a while for this I can’t wait to get mine possibly next year
If you do the maths. €600 for the DD Pro base with boost kit, €80 for the pedals. That means Fanatec are charging €170 for the Gran Turismo wheel. That bundle costs €850.
So happy with my cls dd and hope time flies for all cls dd pro buyers. I waited 2,5 month for my unit and watched hundreds of reviews, some of them -like ours- i can literally dream. About the cls dd pro wheelbase: i prefer the shape of the original cls dd. About the wheel: i dont know yet what to think about it. I guess it feels great, just like the TGT rim, but it doesn't look great. Maybe next time fanatec should design it. That having said, as race beond matter always say, great review Will!
Hey man I love the videos, creative opinion, I think first half of the videos would but just a tiny bit better if you used a wider aperture and more ISO. It kind of kills me not being able to look at the gear on the table in focus and to look at you in focus. TBH It doesn't matter I'm still gonna watch haha. Thanks for all you do M8
Great video - is this wheel a good choice for playing iRacing on a PC? I cannot find the CSL DD for sale anywhere, and am wondering whether this is a good second option, or whether it is really optimized for Gran Turismo players rather than iRacing players on a PC
Gday Will. Cheers for the vid. Quick question: I understand the base is interchangeable with other wheels but is it the same for the GT wheel? Can it be used on the CSL DD base?
Thank you for a great review. Based on this (and a few others) I bought this bundle and I agree with everything you said. Coming from a Logitech G923, this bundle costs about twice as much but it is exponentially better. In other words, 100% worth the extra cost if want more realism, functionality and performance. And I also agree that the added loadcell and power supply are worth the expense and will be added by many purchasers. Including them makes this package more than triple the Logitech which would have been off-putting for me as I didn’t know what I was missing. If you’ve never drive a DD rig it might seem excessive. Once you have experienced DD you will understand the added value. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for your thoughtful reviews and keep up the great channel!
Hello ! Thank you very much for this very complete video. However I would like to know if there is a difference in force feedback and feeling when you use the DD pro on a playstation and on a PC. Thanks😉
impressive price for such a complete bundle, i can't believe this is a fanatec bundle for that price, sounds like a rare sight but also will make it harder to get after pre order
Love all your reviews mate. Always top notch! I'm not if I missed it but is the metal looking part of the wheel actually some kind of metal/alloy or is it plastic?
Detailed, comprehensive review. Thanks. Definitely a maybe for me. Will revisit when GT7 comes out and when a base only option is available. Not sure if I could live looking out that wheel.....
Strange wheel rotation :) Thanks for the Review. Did you test the DD pro with a Xbox ready wheel on the X One with Forza Motorsport or a other racing game?
Great review. Just wanted to ask about using this kit for Series X too. I know I need a compatible Xbox wheel, but do I also need to buy a hub like the Clubsport Universal Hub v2 for Xbox? Or do I just buy the ClubSport Wheel Rim GT Forza Motorsport? I want to be able to play PC, Xbox and PS5. Confusing ecosystem for noobs :) Thanks :)
Fantastic rundown. All that's left to do is place the order. I wonder if can get airfreight as well as all the accessories (boost kit, load cell, shifter) 🤔.
This is the video I’ve been waiting on ..great content my only question is will it still be Xbox compatible with an Xbox compatible rim, does that feature still run into their direct drive line?
I just probably know that the fanatec is better than the t-gt II, but is it better enough to be worth the extra money it costs? I can actually buy the Thrustmaster for 599€, while the dd pro would costs me 699 and I have to add the price of the third pedal.
Watched this review a few times to make up my mind. Iv just ordered it with the 8nm. I hope it’s still as good a wheel 12 months later. I know the Logitech is out now too but it’s €600 more again not sure trueforce is worth that. Anyway few more days to wait. Bought the gt omega Titan rig also. Btw @boostedmedia your reviews are amazingly detailed. Very easy listen too thanks.
Pre-ordered the Gran Turismo DD Pro Premium Bundle (8NM + Load Cell Kit) today (used your affiliate link. Thanks for the great review.) This will be my first racing wheel. Can't wait to play GT7 with it. Question: Where can I get those red mounts for the wheel base?
Really looking forward to seeing the price of a standalone wheelbase. I already own CSL Elite pedals with load cell and also own 3 Fanatec rims so I have no interest in buying the whole package. I just want the wheelbase with the boost kit. Then one day I'll upgrade to the clubsport v3 pedals and I'll have my dream rig..
I hope that they announce it as a standalone.. just buyed the mc laren wheel and the csl elite pedals, but they would be really dumb if they wouldnt announce it
I fear it will never happen, it is more advantageous for fanatec and sony to only sell the complete packages, if they put the separate parts for sale that small and too much plastic steering wheel compared to the fanatec standards it would remain unsold however i expect a lot of elite csl bases and gt7 steering wheels in the next second-hand market
Question for you, I'm interested in buying this from Fanatec but I'm curious if I can just move the brake pedal that came with the base and use it as a clutch without doing any additional mod to it. Reason why I'm asking is because I'd like to get the load cell kit for the stock pedals that came with the GT DD pro as well. PS: Thanks for doing this, btw. This really helps a lot of new comers into sim racing, like me.
Great review guys. Always the one adress to go to, to get deep and detailed infos about simracing hardware, thx for that. But will this wheelbase replace the CSl DD at Fanatec. Do u know something about that??? Hopefully not, I don't want to pay extra money for me not needed PS support!
I've put thousands of hours of use into my modded G25 (silent shifter, cog gear adjustments etc) for PS3, PS4 (via GIMX) and PC, and would like to upgrade. I know it's too early to tell, but would you agree that using the clutch and Fanatec Clubsport shifter be compatible with GT7 and GT Sport? I'd like to use the paddle shifters and the H-Shifter for the respective cars that have different methods of changing gears.
Great video and great review! Thank you so much~ I have a question. I am currently using the CSL Elite wheelbase with the new CSL Pedals and Formula V2 wheel; if I am going to upgrade to the Gran Turismo DD Pro, which package you recommend? Or should I wait for the standalone wheelbase which we don't know if it will come out. Thank you in advance
I just ordered dd pro today and I was wondering how long did it take to mail to you. And also do you have to do firmware update before you play with it or can you just plug in and play on gt7 on ps4?
Shame you have to buy everything. I have V3 pedals so I don't want a step down. Do you think I'm better getting a Podium DD? You have tried both haven't you so is the Podium DD a lot better even though they are both direct drive. My CSL elite is on its way out and I'm looking to upgrade. Great review again bro, cheers.
Good review as usual, I have the CSL DD since monday and can confirm it is great bit of kit. Unfortunatly I also can confirm reports of a clunky QR-lite, under heavy load or fast movements.
I had the same issue with my QR-Lite, what I done to "Fix" it is simple and effective. Take the wheel from the shaft and apply a couple of layers of standard transparant tape on the U shaped part of the shaft until the clunk is gone. The Tape fills the "Gap" and makes a tight fit.
@@zamnesia369 I have tried that with some tape, and it helped but not 100%, so I'll add some more tape as you suggest to see what happens. Thanks for the tip.
@@brulaapgaapmeester8052 Your Welcome. Just keep adding a layer until its gone. I think I added 3 or 4 layers. Fanatec should have never approved this amount of play on the shaft with the Simple QR1. This is a production error if your ask me.
I'm really torn, how much better is the CSL/GT PRO over the G29? I'm trying to justify the cost. I'm brand new to sim racing. I have probably 1k hours or more on controller over the years. I was going to go with the dd2 but figured it was way overkill for a complete beginner when I'm not even sure ill like it. Then again with how much i enjoy racing with controller "at my desk" im guessing id really love a quality wheel. Any suggestions? Is the CSL worth it? Should i just suck it up and get a dd1/2 "based on availability". Since im new i should go cheap to make sure its something i like "g29"? Obviously the answer will be opinion based but that's what I'm after more opinions.
Will the 5-way switches be possible to use on a PC ? My preferred order would be the CSL DD base with McLaren GT3 and pedals incl clutch or Loadcell, but considering these won't be available until July I thhough I'd might go for this kit instead and then buy the McLaren GT3 separately
Great review! I'd like to see a teardown and compare the DD pro with the CSL DD. The DD pro pedal jack seems less reliable than the DD jacks due to the way they are mounted on the PCB.
36:38 you do not have to press any button on the steering wheel to change modes, just press the power button on the Base and it will change the mode just fine, no need to also press the Share button on the wheel.
@@boostedmedia it turns off when you press the power button for 2 seconds. But when you just tip the button for a short time it will change Modes without the need to press any button on the wheel as shown in the Quick Guide as well and as already working on the CSL DD the exact same way.
@@boostedmedia then you did something wrong...😅 it's really just a short press on the power button and the Mode will switch without the need to also press the Share Button on any wheel. If it's not working for you and you think you did everything correct then your unit might be broken somehow but the expected and intended behaviour would be as I said... In fact, I also have it here and I NEVER ever pushed any button on any wheel to change Modes on the GT DD PRO, just the Power Button on the Base so it is definitely working... 😅
Love your videos. You need a teleprompter. Look into some of the iPad teleprompters, you'll be able to control it with your phone, and some of them can even detect your voice to speed up and slow down for you.
When are you guys planning to do a full in depth review on this set up with GT7? I've seen you've done a comparison with the controller but nothing specifically reviewing this set up and the wheel configuration with GT7. Thanks 🤙🏻✌🏻
Suberb Analysis! Watched every second! But, this is a GT wheel. Please help us and make a review on GT Sport, not in F1. Is it worth upgrading from CSL elite or T-GT for the particular game? 🤔
As others have said, not testing on GT Sport is a missed opportunity. In my opinion, GT Sport feels much better than Assetto Corsa on my CSL Elite. Would have been nice to see if the coloured switches were useful in game. Just for reference, I play on a PS5. Also Sony confirmed all PS4 wheels including Fanatec were fully backwards compatible, so I’d be very surprised if interfacing with the GT DD Pro.
@@swingking08 No? The csl elite PS4 version had the chip in the base, the dd1 ps edition has the chip in the base, the dd pro has the chip in the base. You can use almost any wheel from fanatec on a ps compatible wheel base cos the chip is in the base.
Nice Review. I have the wrc wheel and also the mclaren gt3I think the gran turismo wheel looks very cheap for me. Do you think i would need it for gt7 or only use my two xbox wheels?
No idea sorry. Details on GT7 are scarce. I’m sure it would work, but I’m not sure what functionality you may be missing in GT7 specifically. We will revisit once we have access to the game to answer these questions.
They'll sell the base separately eventually, without the wheel. That's what I am waiting for, to upgrade from my CSL elite. I don't need the pedals/wheel.
Ok so, every video of yours I've watched, you say "I go in more detail about all the settings in a previous video". But I can't find any other previous video where you explain all of the customizable settings. You just go through them and say the setting's name but not detail or what changing the setting actually does. Am I missing something? Thanks!
I am looking at buying a CSL DD. But they are not available until July, is it worth picking up the GT DD Pro kit available in March, I wanted to get the CSL Elite McLaren GT3 V2 wheel for the kit.
Would this be a good package to someone who is new to racing and have both a gaming PC and PS5, but plan to mainly play racing games on PC, or would other bundles make more sense?
Great review - thanks! I’m about to dip my toes into the Fanatec world and have been awaiting the PS5 version with baited breath. One quick question though please…is there or will there be Xbox compatibility with the DD Pro? It would be great to have one system that works with all major platforms.
Just remember this: "I want to play on Xbox" = Get an Xbox-compatible wheel "I want to play on PlayStation" = Get a PlayStation-compatible wheelbase "I want to play across all 3 platforms" = Connect an Xbox-compatible steering wheel to a PlayStation-compatible wheelbase

Really want to get this, waiting waiting waiting for Australian price and the preorders. Thanks for the review
Top notch review I’m looking forward to you trying it with the new GT. keep up the good work.
Can’t wait to get mine 😊 I went with the base with the csl elite v2 pedals and the wrc wheel. And ofc the boost pack.
I can recommend.
i got it mounted to a solid rig and it's awesome. personally, it even has improved my driving by a lot.
I can get the G29 for £150 or the CSL DD GT pro for £850 for similar items I.r both come with basic pedals. Do you think the DD is worth that much more?
I think the most appropriate game to have tried on PlayStation would have been GT Sport, pity that was not included in the suite of titles.
Excellent review, you guys are awesome at breaking this stuff down! I'm looking to get this set up for GT7 on my PS5 and weighing up what to buy. I'm weighing up buying the Logitech setup for half the price or taking the plunge on this. New sub here anyways! ✌🏻
It's more than half the price I think, if you got the money get the DD but imo it's better to get a second hand T300 rs for 5th of the price
Fantastic reviews Will very thorough as always
Thanks for the review Will! Hope your video will finally convince my brother to take the plunge!
Great video excellent that you where able to get early access to this steering I have been waiting a while for this I can’t wait to get mine possibly next year
You guys are awesome. Sensible and thorough. And you look so much like my cousin that it's creepy...
Great review and thanks for sharing so quickly ...
I needed this so much, you absolute legend!🔥🔥
I'm one of those guys that has a $6000 AUD rig with a DD1 podium and only plays on PlayStation. I stopped PC gaming over 10 years ago
Best info and reviews ,I’m learning heaps
Awesome Video! Convinced me to buy a Fanatec for my PS5! Thanks for this great video!
Awesome review!!👍😀⭐️
Preordered! Excited to finally be getting into sim racing
Yes
@@wilsonxci nice, have the same doubt. So this is the cheap set for console players.
Love to watch your videos. By the way dd1&dd2 can be use for Ps5? Thanks
How is it by the way? Been looking to get the same setup.
you say it nice and solid but is it more flex than other Fatatec wheel, which made of steal?
which feels like cheap isnt it if you compare?
If u are a GT7 fan, this setup will make your game experience increase dramatically. Highly recommended!
I got one and its trash!!!! Disconecting, software problems. Pedals are mega trash and extremely loud. Trash !!!!
@@_.salamus.black._ what is a good one for ps5 then?
Really looking forward to seeing the price of a standalone wheelbase. I already own CSL Elite pedals with load cell and also own 3 Fanatec rims so I have no interest in buying the whole package. I just want the wheelbase with the boost kit. Then one day I'll upgrade to the clubsport v3 pedals and I'll have my dream rig..
Fanatec says they want to sell the wheelbase on its own, but that's subject to Sony's approval.
I hope that they announce it as a standalone.. just buyed the mc laren wheel and the csl elite pedals, but they would be really dumb if they wouldnt announce it
I was gonna say that too because I already have the pedals and steering wheel I was just waiting for standalone wheelbase
I fear it will never happen, it is more advantageous for fanatec and sony to only sell the complete packages, if they put the separate parts for sale that small and too much plastic steering wheel compared to the fanatec standards it would remain unsold
however i expect a lot of elite csl bases and gt7 steering wheels in the next second-hand market
Fanatec announced that they want to do it but they are waiting for Sony to agree
Dude, I love this channel...
Great video, had a question though, what titles do you consider Arcade style driving games? Thanks, good stuff!!
Thanks for the detailed review. Surprised you guys didn't try it with GT Sport? I'm assuming those 4 colored toggles work for GTS?
Che k the pinned comment. Explained there
Question for you, I'm interested in buying this from Fanatec but I'm curious if I can just move the brake pedal that came with the base and use it as a clutch without doing any additional mod to it.
No as far as I’m aware they will continue to offer both.
Thank you so much~
I have a question.
Sounds like you’d be better off waiting for the standalone base tbh
@@boostedmedia Okay! Thank you for your advice, will wait for the standalone wheelbase and save myself some extra money
G'day, excellent review as always.
Any idea how wide the pedals on the DD PRO are? Just trying to see if it will fit in my rig.
I just ordered dd pro today and I was wondering how long did it take to mail to you. And also do you have to do firmware update before you play with it or can you just plug in and play on gt7 on ps4?
what mounting clamp you using? thanks for your videos btw very helpful
Those four buttons with the colour halo should work in GT Sport
Thanks for actually testing this on a PS5. Lots of other reviews, but no one tests is on a console which is pretty useless.
Thanks. We bought a PS5 just to do the review because we figured it was an important part of the story.
Looks really good. Fanatec have done a good job.
36:38 you do not have to press any button on the steering wheel to change modes, just press the power button on the Base and it will change the mode just fine, no need to also press the Share button on the wheel.
That’s the method I was given when I asked. I’d I just press the power button it turns off.
@@boostedmedia it turns off when you press the power button for 2 seconds. But when you just tip the button for a short time it will change Modes without the need to press any button on the wheel as shown in the Quick Guide as well and as already working on the CSL DD the exact same way.
Interesting. When I did a momentary press it wasn’t doing anything. Maybe I was pressing too short. KO told me what I did was the correct procedure.
Must have. Lol. Oh well. Thanks for clarifying. I don’t speak “quick start guide” I’m afraid. Too old. 😂
Love your videos. You need a teleprompter. Look into some of the iPad teleprompters, you'll be able to control it with your phone, and some of them can even detect your voice to speed up and slow down for you.
Got mine pre-ordered. What are the mounts you use for the base? I have a custom built rig and that may work perfect for mounting this.
It's an odd decision/oversight to not play the actual game it is designed for. You wouldn't review a gaming mouse using productivity software.
What are those red brackets you used to mount it to your rig??
As others have said, not testing on GT Sport is a missed opportunity. In my opinion, GT Sport feels much better than Assetto Corsa on my CSL Elite. Would have been nice to see if the coloured switches were useful in game.
Just for reference, I play on a PS5. Also Sony confirmed all PS4 wheels including Fanatec were fully backwards compatible, so I’d be very surprised if interfacing with the GT DD Pro.
Cause no one's gonna spend the money for this thing to play grand tourismo. People that buy this play sim racing
@@tommybear4458 its a ps5 wheel made in conjunction with gran turismo that's a simulation game
Very detailed review, thank you!
Hi, time to do a update review on this with GT7 after a year. Which is better, This or the Logitech DDR?
What are recommended rigs for this wheelbase? Also if you were to ever upgrade to stronger, what would you also recommend? Thanks!
Great video as expected. Do you think Fanatec will be selling just the PlayStation CSL DD base on its own at any time?
It's usually the wheels that make them ps compatible man , has been with previous models anyways
January 17
@@swingking08 No? The csl elite PS4 version had the chip in the base, the dd1 ps edition has the chip in the base, the dd pro has the chip in the base. You can use almost any wheel from fanatec on a ps compatible wheel base cos the chip is in the base.
@@Delpatioo Thanks. Where did you get the information for Jan 17th?

Great review. One question.. Fanatec DD Pro or Thrustmaster TGT 2. Which is best please?
We haven’t tested the TGT2
Nice Review. I have the wrc wheel and also the mclaren gt3I think the gran turismo wheel looks very cheap for me. Do you think i would need it for gt7 or only use my two xbox wheels?
The other wheels should work fine. This is just the PlayStation branded one.
No idea sorry. Details on GT7 are scarce. I’m sure it would work, but I’m not sure what functionality you may be missing in GT7 specifically. We will revisit once we have access to the game to answer these questions.
@@boostedmedia thanks. But I can't imagine that the buttons could be so important that I need this unfortunately cheap looking steering wheel to play.
They'll sell the base separately eventually, without the wheel. That's what I am waiting for, to upgrade from my CSL elite. I don't need the pedals/wheel.
@@karl343 they already do without the PS branding. That one works for the PS right?
No clutch pedal? Manual shifter? Is there accompanying fanatec products on top of the wheel two pedal combo?
Ok so, every video of yours I've watched, you say "I go in more detail about all the settings in a previous video". But I can't find any other previous video where you explain all of the customizable settings. You just go through them and say the setting's name but not detail or what changing the setting actually does. Am I missing something? Thanks!
I am looking at buying a CSL DD. But they are not available until July, is it worth picking up the GT DD Pro kit available in March, I wanted to get the CSL Elite McLaren GT3 V2 wheel for the kit.
I will be using it exclusively on PC.
Would this be a good package to someone who is new to racing and have both a gaming PC and PS5, but plan to mainly play racing games on PC, or would other bundles make more sense?
Just a quick question, where do you get the red side mounts for the GT DD Pro, it doesn’t look like they come with the bundle ? 🤔
Great review - thanks! I’m about to dip my toes into the Fanatec world and have been awaiting the PS5 version with baited breath. One quick question though please…is there or will there be Xbox compatibility with the DD Pro? It would be great to have one system that works with all major platforms.
Yes. You just need an Xbox compatible wheel
@@boostedmedia that’s excellent news! Thanks for the reply bud! 🙂
