    I upgraded from CSL Elite V1 to these V2 because the V1 uses a potentiometer and it started to produce a noisy signal. I am so happy I did! The brake makes a huge difference to me and I was instantly faster after getting used to the new feel, which only took a few minutes. I will sell my V1s, however, in the end it's going to be some investment but I feel it was a good choice made. And I agree: There's no reason to purchase the V3 unless Fanatec upgrades those as well.

    Wow what a brake pedal! Much prefer it to my Clubsport, so much so that I've ordered a set. First the CSL DD now these, Fanatec bringing a taste of the high end to the mid range. A couple of years ago when I got my TS-PC I'd never have believed that you could get this sort of experience (CSL Elite V2 & CSL DD+ a wheel) for a grand. I am amazed at the high end feel of this brake pedal, the clutch isn't quite as good as the Clubsport but i barely use it. I've never been that fussy about a gas pedal, so these are a no brainer. Cant wait to plug these into my CSL DD!

    Thanks Karl. Another great review. I had the previous version for a number of years until the potentiometers started playing up too much. I could have tried harder to fix them but liked the idea of an upgrade. This version seems to have fixed all the small issues with the old version: better brake with some travel, hall effect sensors and, most importantly, you can now easily acces the mounting screws at the front 😃. The old version was hair tearingly bad for that. It also mean's it's much easier to adjust the side to side pedal position as you can easily remove the whole unit now. As a final thought, why do none of the high end sets give us the nice rubber pedal covers. They are so much more comfortable to use in socks. And a final PS, the cat seemed to really like this video. 😸

    Excellent review as always, Karl.
    I’m currently on the CSL pedals with the Loadcell upgrade, having come from the V1 Elites because I was unable to get the Elite Loadcell when the discontinued it!
    Good to know it’s not a massive difference, but like so many others I do find the CSL loadcell a little stiff at the initial compression stage, I really wish Fanatec would give us a tuning kit like they include with the Elite V2, seems like the spring seems to be a big part of the difference there by the looks of it, I just want the pedal to be a little softer there before stiffening up.
    I know there’s after market mods, but its a mine field! The 3DRap one you reviewed a while back seems like a decent option, but it’s a bit on the pricey side when you include delivery (£30 for one!! And which one to go for??!! 🤣)
    Anyway, thanks again for a great review. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

    These are my absolute favorite pedals for under $700 believe it or not. Only pedals I like more are the p2000s. Yet I still use the elite v2s haha. Ive never adapted to pedals as fast as I have with the v2s. It was 1 day and my muscle memory stayed, legit stayed didnt have to even think. They fit my preference perfectly right off the bat. Lol never had to adjust settings after the first day. Was beating my lap times first day!
    I hate the csl loadcell but i love the elite v2 loadcell. That brake difference is very noticable, Its way way way way better in performance and consistency.

  • @Cereal_Killr
    @Cereal_Killr Год назад +1

    Ok so I just got these pedals. Coming from CSL pedals and the old "there too stiff" comes in. So my very first idea was taking off one of rubber slugs and putting on BOTH springs and two 65 slugs. Maybe I'm an just weird but...but I really like it this way. There's a little bit more travel now but it still has that needed stiffness for smoother braking and trail braking. Anyone who dont like the stiffness try this, you might like it. Once the rubber breaks in I feel I'll probably end up taking the 2nd spring out. As for now it made the transition a lot easier for me. So far though the loadcell is what its made to be...I can brake smoothly now without lock up. I added my dayton audio 40W with Gorilla double side tape to back of brake pedal for lock up vibration and together it's amazing! Also another great review Karl! I enjoy your style of reviews. Thank you bud!

  • @LeoDavidson
    @LeoDavidson 2 года назад +3

    It's funny that Fanatec's two lower-end pedals let you adjust the left/right positions while their higher end set doesn't. I wonder if they'll update the V3s at some point. I do like my V3s a lot apart from that (and silly things like having to plug them in via USB to update firmware) and would probably still get them of the 3, but sometimes my knees do wish I could move the brake pedal left a little. :D
    Watching this, it occurred to me that it's all done in one take without loads of "ums and errs" and looking stuff up. That's quite a skill! When I make a video there are about 150 edits per sentence, haha.

    • @KarlGosling

      The dimensions look different but I'd have to check to be 100%.

    • @MarioP8HR

      The single elastomer looks slightly larger in diameter on Elite V2 but the height could be the same.
      In CSL LC, the elastomer measures 20 mm in diameter, 8.5-9 mm inner hole diameter and 12 mm in height. Therefore, maybe only the spring from the Elite V2 would not fit the CSL LC, but maybe even if the height of the elastomer is the same, the complete elastomer stack from the Elite V2 would fit the CSL LC.
      Karl, can you please just check sometime dimentions of single elastomer on Elite V2?
      All in all, the Elite V2 and the CSL LC are technically identical pedals, if the CSL LC had a coil spring instead of one elastomer, like on the Elite V2.

    Opened these up yesterday and wanted to move the brake pedal. They must have enlisted The Incredible Hulk to put the bolts on, took me over an hour to get 5 of them undone and the one in the middle is stuck - it's loosened off but spins on both the nut side and the Allen key side. Suspect it may be stripped. No idea why they'd be sent out so tight! Suspect I'm going to have to drill it or something to get that one out, then replace it.

      @@KarlGosling yeah, ended up getting it broken off and the holding piece to guide that bolt had actually snapped off as well. Must've been cross-threaded in manufacturing I guess. Luckily it all still tightens up OK and I've mounted it to my Playseat Trophy with no issues, and also mounted some castor wheels under the pedal plate of the Trophy at the front so I can wheel it around more easily. So far, so good!

    This makes me happy, i timed my upgrade poorly so it was just as they discontinued the pedals and has to make do without a load cell(didn't fancy being scalped online) and my god it's sensitive I'm braking by flexing my toes back and letting the natural curve of the ball of my foot move imperceptibility enough to press it haha so these are an absolute godsend to heavy footed twats like me

    I actually don't understand what's Fanatec thinking here. They released LC pedals which are 200 EUR that they bundle with DD 0.5. Then they again spend R&D for making these Elite V2. While they are a step above LC entry offering, why didn't they spend R&D in some sort of better entry pedals that are upgradable to this kind of level? Price difference to consumer is small, so I don't understand why would you even buy LC. And if you add just a 100 EUR more, you can get DC pedals or go even higher. There are a lot of good loadcell pedals in 400-600 range, that are more customizable, upgradable, and looking more like hard core equipment than toys.
    Second point: They still don't have proper high end pedals. V3 with performance and damper kit are not good pedals anymore. You can get better pedals if you just look around a little.
    The only thing I can imagine is if you're already in Fanatec ecosystem and you need console support. But even here, I would ask you, what are you doing, buying expensive stuff and not using a PC. But to each his own. These pedals, not looking at the bigger picture, are good pedals, for a decent price, and looks are subjective.

  • @justinhill9915
    @justinhill9915 Год назад

    These are TERRIBLE pedals! The cantilever loadcell design makes it very hard to brake consistently if your foot moves AT ALL. As Karl says: you get different pressure delivery to the load cell, depending upon where your foot is on the pedal. (7:00) If you can put your foot in the exact same place every time it would work, but no one does that. SOOO many better options out there. Avoid these like the plague!
