To figure out how many stitches to pick up at sleeves you can use your gauge. You calculate a ratio of row gauge to stitch gauge and reduce it to something like 3/4 or 5/6.. in other words, pick up 3 then skip one… or pick up 5 and skip 1. It’s personalized according to your exact gauge. I’m a master knitter and that’s what I teach my students how to do.
Happy birthday, Nora! 💐 🎂 🎈 Your Folklore Cardi is looking great! Mine is still in timeout and I’ve made 2 Emotional Support Chickens instead of finishing my first sleeve. One more chicken to go (I have 3 granddaughters and MUST knit one for each.) That egg is cute! Happy knitting!
Thank you so much!!! Thank you! I don’t blame you 😂 the folklore can definitely test patience. I love that you’re making the emotional support chicken! I think I’ll have to give it a try!
OH my goodness! That egg is SO CUTE! I totally get where you were coming from. Yesterday I was just sitting around m house and got this urge to make something for Easter. I ended up crocheting 6 "peeps" in various colors. They were just so cute, I kept going.
Good job doing your homework on the duster that is the hardest part but the best part when you get it, right. I’ll like the marbled fabric for your tee
The egg is cute, definitely got my synapses firing! I'm thinking that if you use a yarn you could felt, that could make the fabric fully opaque! Just crochet up some more pieces, toss them in the washer (or soak then toss in dryer, whatever felting method works), and bam, a slightly shrunken, felted, opaque egg! Then tie the halves with the string and done? I'd love to see someone do this....I'm mildly tempted to try and do this...
I love socks on 9 inch circulars for mindless knitting. I knit toe up with an afterthought heel so for most of the project, it’s just a long tube! I even knit both socks first and add both heels at the very end. So portable too!
Happy Birthday! Hope your celebrations were excessive! Thank you for the info on the sleeve pick up issue, I am going through the same process now on a mens sweater and that was super helpful. Love, love the fabric you are getting for your tee shirt. Could you save yarn by knitting the collar and ribbing in dark brown or cream? It is just so cool how you are using your stash and I did love the Spring Stash video you did. Your Easter egg is fabulous! Way to create!
Thank you!!! I am so glad that you found that helpful! I am loving the T-shirt so far and I think I’ll be doing something like that if I feel like yarn is running short. I am happy to be able to knit the body before worrying about neck and cuffs so I can use up every little bit of the two yarns before having to make a decision on supplemental yarns. Thank you so so much!!
Happy birthday Nora! Would you film some content on ripping back and re-picking up the stitches? I would love to see this process! Hope you have an awesome week celebrating ❤
The fabric for your Farnham T makes me think of really really expensive artisan bread -- in a good way -- good call on combining those two yarns to get the best of both
Happy birthday! I don't know if you watch Fruity Knitting, but Andrea has done lots of tutorials on sleeves and the different kind of shoulders and how to adapt them for fit. You might want to check those all out. Also, she is an amazing knitter and is always ripping back to make sure she has just the right fit so you are in really good company. Thank you for your candid sharing!
Happy birthday!! Hope you have a lovely weekend. I think the truboo and glitter yarns make an interesting dimensional fabric that’ll be fun at the basic tee.
I love your little crocheted egg! And the fabric you got for your t shirt is so interesting and cool. I'm glad you figured out what to do about your cardigan too. I hope you had a lovely birthday!
Oi! I feel like flat pieces & bottom up is easiest for drop shoulders, for this very reason. Very easy to adjust the armhole in a bunch of different ways. I’m so happy for you that you’re being diligent and getting a garment you’ll be happy with! And Happy Birthday! I ate cake today 😂
Hi! Thank you for the awesome spreadsheets for the cardigan. I went out and got my yarn! Wishing you a wonderful birthday celebration and I hope YOU get to have some cake and yarny goodness! I think your tee is going to be a treasure! Hugs from Texas!!

Happy belated birthday! I hope all your dreams come true and all your knits too!
Happy Birthday 🎉🎁🎂🎊🎈!!!!! You look beautiful and your knits and crochets are stunning. I’m so glad you figured out the cardigan sleeves. And the Easter Egg 🐣 is adorable. I now want to crochet a bunch and then use them during Easter egg hunts. It’s such a nice reusable, echo friendly idea. Happy knitting and crocheting 💚🧶💚
Happy birthday!❤ i think your tee is so cute. Rayon is so drapey and flows. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Thanks so much for the great knitting insights. Its so smart!
Happy birthday, Nora! I don’t think anyone would mistake you for a grandmother of the bride, no matter how you style your knits 😂 I hope you had a great birthday weekend!
I love the sparkly fabric and i think it will make a great tee. The Easter egg is super cute. I once crocheted an Easter basket out of a goldish jute yarn, without a pattern, for a friend. This was about 50 years ago, by the way. I filled it with plastic eggs containing a non-Easter grass, if you catch my meaning. It was a big hit and i stole it back the next year to refill it with more traditional Easter fare. Those were the days......
Happy birthday! I absolutely think you’re doing the right thing with the Sand Cardigan - listening to you talk about it was exactly the process I go through in my brain when I’m working on things like that! It’s worth it to get it right, the way you want it. And I think the fabric of the Farnham tee is really beautiful! I love how it’s a nice neutral with a little extra somethin’ somethin’. 😆 I made a Farnham tee last summer and the pattern is fantastic. I realized after I made mine slightly too large, I will need to size down next time, but the shape and style is fabulous. I want to make another one! I think yours will be beautiful.
Thank you!!! It’s so helpful to think out loud 😂 I love that you love yours! It is such a thorough pattern!!! I felt the same way about it being sort of neutral, yet not! Can’t wait to see it come together 🥰
You had me at the sparkle yarn mix with truboo with your Spring knit video since I had the same in my stash. The tee pattern was already in my favourites❤. The tee fabric is looking beautiful. I bet you’ll glitter everywhere you go. I’m using pink and rose gold which aren’t really my colours it’s more mother of the bride! I’m excited to see what mine looks like but even more to see yours!
Happy Birthday! Always such a great day when you post! Love your tee and love the two yarns together! So much so will be looking for the Universe yarn to match with something I have! As always your inspiration just always amazes me! You teach me so much every week!
I love the combo for your new Tee, I made a 5 yarn gradient sweater from EFA yarns in her Sparkle DK yarn there is a bit of a catch on the wrong side and only at a certain angle and I have worn my sweater a few time with not much bother I am sensitive to most yarns but I have found this sweater soft and warm, I love it one of my favorite things. Also since I found your podcast I have become more adventure some in my knits you only have a few years and done so much and I am awe by you and how you dive in and all that math, I have been knitting on and off since I was 10yrs old dropped it off while in High School and picked up again when my sister got pregnant with twins. But just recently or since covid and finding your podcast I have started to make more garments for me. You are an inspiration. Thanks!
I think you should make the Amy Chris... tank. With the caveat the make front with Linen sparkle yarn and back with the bamboo. You could even make the Vneck on front and back so you can turn it around. Yup that's my suggestion😊
You’re doing great with these podcasts! I love the way you analyze your work and how you choose projects and materials that will work uniquely for you. Congratulations! ❤
That is the cutest little egg I've ever seen! Wants to make me learn to crochet. I also love the fabric for your tee, very unique and elegant. Thanks for sharing!
I think the khaki and bronze yarn together is beautiful! It won’t look like grandmother of the bride because I think the style is more of what makes it like that but your sweater won’t!
Whilst I know the Folklore cardigan is free, it’s still intellectual property and I’m not sure it’s ok to distribute such large portions of the pattern in a spreadsheet? Sorry, that’s a very negative comment so I want to balance it by saying how much I do enjoy your podcast. Just something to consider.
🎉🎈💛💐🎶 Happy ~ Super ~ Belated ~ Birthday, Nora !!!! 🎵🎂🪅🥳 I hope your birthday month (& day) was spectacular!! Your cousin’s cardigan is looking great. Glad you blocked your SANDS cardigan. What a compliment for my egg 🥰 I definitely want to make some more for next year! Thanks so so much!! Hope you had a great Easter!
Happy Birthday Nora! I hope you have a great day! Your t-shirt is awesome! Just want to give you the heads up that truboo grows massively with blocking and then more so with wear. It tends to stretch in length. I’m am hoping that by holding it with the sparkle yarn it won’t do that as much for you but seeing as you are playing yarn chicken that may be a good thing. I was so sad when I blocked a top I made with truboo and it became unwearable because of that growth but I gave the top to my mom so all wasn’t lost. It’s going to look awesome!
I had a similar sleeve kerfuffle recently, just opposite in that I didn't pick up enough stitches! I followed the count instead of the rate in the pattern not realizing that I was knitting significantly off gauge, so of course I needed more rows to get to that length, and would need to pick up more sleeve stitches! Happy birthday, Nora! I am so glad you figured out the issue with the Sand cardi sleeve size, nice job. I look forward to seeing your Easter egg baskets (filled with your crocheted eggs of course) next year!
What I do when I am worried about yarn chicken, especially in a top down, is once you join in the round under the arms, finish the neck and sleeves, then you can knit the body until the yarn runs out!
I loved your Truboo/ Universal swatch and I love the bigger fabric even more. I also love that you were able to use 2 yarns that were just hanging out in your stash ❤
Your egg is cute. If you want a knit pattern for eggs use Egging Around by Stacey Lewis. Good job slowing down and taking a real look at what was going on with your sweater. I cast on a ranunculus with Susurro in dark grey and didn't like the neck so I tore it out and started over. Always go with your gut. Happiest of birthdays to you! Hope you are having fun and enjoying yourself.
Hi Nora! Just wondering if I got you right re the Folklore cardigan’s sleeves: the centimeters of the “curved top shaping” of the sleeves (the part that you still need to knit) is the length that needs to match the centimeters of the armholes of front and back (not the width of the sleeves that I understood you were referring to; this is just the diameter of the sleeves at its widest) - just to be sure, as shortening the “height” of that “curved top shaping” is a little risk for the final matching when sewing everything together… Just to be sure (especially on your knitting side as the count-down is Easter-ticking…). Oh, and… GRATTIS PÅ FÖDELSEDAGEN! /kim.
Keep in mind your cousin is growing! Making that sweater more oversized than her favorite sweater that fits her now, means she will get to enjoy wearing this amazing gift much longer before she grows out of it!
Totally!! I’m referencing her favorite oversized sweater and even making it a little bigger than that. I just want to make sure she can enjoy it now since the whole Taylor swift thing might just be a phase

I am definitely considering going this route!! I haven’t found a groove with sock knitting yet, but I think this might be the way!
Happy birthday!!!
Girl, trust your gut. The sleeves in your sand cardigan have been bothering you for weeks. Time for some frogging!
My birthday is also the 22nd! Turned 28 and spent the day yarn shopping 🎉🥳💕
Yayyyy!!! Happiest Birthday to you! That was exactly how I spent my 28th 🥹 this year was chill and thrift!
Happy Birthday! Hope your celebrations were excessive! Thank you for the info on the sleeve pick up issue, I am going through the same process now on a mens sweater and that was super helpful. My granddaughter’s birthday is the 22 March. She just turned 20. Hope yours was great. You are an inspiration for new and seasoned knitters.
Happiest birthday to her!!! I hope her 20s are filled with adventure! Thank you so much 🥰
OMG, the drape of your blocked cardigan, swoon❤❤❤
Right?? It’s exactly what I wanted!!!
Happy belated birthday! I hope you’re having the best weekend celebrating! 🥳
Thank you!!!! It was such a great refresh!!
Happy birthday Nora!
Would you film some content on ripping back and re-picking up the stitches? I would love to see this process! Hope you have an awesome week celebrating ❤
Me too!
I think it makes a great Christmas Sweater because it has a bit of glitter to it. You can then put a cardigan over to get more of a cozy feel. Enjoy!😊
Happy Birthday! 🎂🥂🍾💐
Thank you so so much!!! 🥰

Happy Birthday!!!

🎉🎈💛💐🎶 Happy ~ Super ~ Belated ~ Birthday, Nora !!!! 🎵🎂🪅🥳
I hope your birthday month (& day) was spectacular!! Your cousin’s cardigan is looking great. Glad you blocked your SANDS cardigan. Your growth & shrinking results remind me how with plain woven fabric, how the horizontal/crossgrain has some stretch compared to the vertical/length grain. Not saying that this is the cause, it just seems similar to me. Also your crocheted egg is lovely, so adorable. It’s giving Fabergé, honey. Love that cool trim along its middle! The fact that it opens & closes? You’re clever Nora. Super clever. 😉 Take Care & Happy Easter 🪺🥚
Thank you so so so much!! That is so fascinating the comparison to woven fabric! These are the little details that I just find so interesting and feel like you learn along the way to help in the future! It makes perfect sense! What a compliment for my egg 🥰 I definitely want to make some more for next year! Thanks so so much!! Hope you had a great Easter!
Happy birthday 🎂🎈 Nora 🎁🍰 I wish you all the best 🎉🎉

My birthday is also March 22nd 🥳🥳🥳 and I also love the fibers
Thank you!! Happiest birthday to you! I hope you had a fantastic day and weekend!
@@akaNoraKnits thank you!
Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉
Thank you so so much!!! 🥰
Happy I figured out the problem, and happy you did too! We'll both end up with garments we love when it's done, even if it's not fun to have to frog back and redo stuff!
“Oil spill” color-touché!!!😂😂😂.
Happy Birthday! Happy knitting!
Thank you so so much!!! 🥰
Happy birthday! 💐🎂 Your Easter egg is so cute and would make a beautiful addition to any Easter celebration. ❤ I also love your sparkly yarn swatch. I saw that yarn on Premier Yarns' clearance page and was tempted but I have too many sparkly yarns already. I need to use what I have first. I did start adding some sparkly yarn (Willow Jubilee is my favorite so far) to a few crochet cardigans and they always make me happy. Paintbox Metallic DK is another happy cotton/metallic yarn that is my favorite Summer yarn. It just shimmers in the sunshine. ❤
Thank you and thank you!!! It’s such a fun yarn and so different from anything else I’ve used. A little sparkle is most definitely good for the soul!
The egg is adorable. Filled with candy would be 👌.
Enjoy your birthday activities. 🎂
Wouldn’t it?? A fun little project indeed! Thank you!
I learn so much from you Nora. ❤
The Farnham Tee fabric is giving me fancy camo vibes. I think it's a successful experiment. Same for your egg, that's amazing. 💖🎂 Happy birthday!🥂💝
Happy birthday
Thank you so so much!!! 🥰
Happy birthday, Nora! I am so glad you figured out the issue with the Sand cardi sleeve size, nice job. I look forward to seeing your Easter egg baskets (filled with your crocheted eggs of course) next year!
Love watching and learning from your videos! You are so kind and generous to share the resources you developed for the Folklore cardi. Thanks so much!
Love, love, love your new cast on! I love the fabric the 2 yarns are making.
Happy Birthday !! Love that sparkly T ! It's a joy watching your fearlessness !!!
Thank you so so much!!! 🥰

/kim.
Happy birthday! For your sleeve issue, would it make sense to do some decreasing over a few rows? It might be a cool little puff.
I'd say a slightly dressy camo effect. I like it!
Omg I love that! You’re so right!
