Hi Selma ! I always. Look forward to your FOs':) I enjoy all the beautiful knits , the ones that were even better than you'd expected ;) Yet , I also appreciate how much I've learned from the hmm - " I just wasn't happy with this one " Recognition of The subtle fit issue , or yarn & pattern maybe better partnered with another choice , drape lis too stiff or loose ... is the best tool for constantly improving my own knitting .. Even if it means reclaiming for another project - the likelihood of repeating an entire garment similarly is unlikely. ( most times ;)!) Thank you for a wonderful year of knitting and chatting. I always look forward to your podcast. Your final song made me cry, was a crazy year. But this Christmas I was just missing so many loved ones that have passed. Even four legged family members. I pray for a better year for my family and friends. And hope for peace on earth!
We lost my little sister and my mum this year, in between dad received a terminal diagnosis (currently very ill in hospital). Then two weeks before Christmas hubby was diagnosed with cancer. It's been a very tough Christmas - lots of tears. Sending hugs to you and yours from us. While they are in our hearts they are still here with us xxx
Love the idea of boosting designs that don't have a lot of love on Ravelry. I do this all the time. So many amazing patterns out there that you don't ever have to see yourself coming and going!
I don't join KALs because I can't be bothered to post about my project...but I think your KAL for lesser known designers and designs is fabulous!!! While I am grateful--as all knitters are--to Ravelry, I do think it has created (together with the phenomenon of the 'celebrity' designer) a real mono-culture in the knitting world. Everyone is knitting the same things by the same designers...and this seems so far from the potential and inventiveness and freshness of the craft. I look forward to hearing more about lesser known designers in future podcasts. Happy New Year Selma and best wishes from Kingston for the new year!
Happy New Year Selma! Really enjoyed the summary and VERY much looking forward to the make-along/knit-along. I have a pattern or two picked out already that will apply. Pretty sure I also cried a bit last year at the end of your video with beautiful footage and Auld Lang Syne music. See you in 2025! 💖💗💞
😘😘😘 I’ll have to go and check last year’s video 😆 I remember using the same song because I like it so much but I don’t recall the footage!! Have a great one and here’s to meeting up for a coffee ❤️
What a great episode! Thank you for the look back at some of your makes. I also want to declutter our house, especially my sewing/knitting room. It is a constant churn when I look for particular yarns or projects. I wish you and your family and all of you followers a happy and healthy new year filled with joy and lots of space for making. Cheers!
What a pleasure it is to listen to you Selma, your diction is so good that I can knit and not have to look at the subtitles. The auld land syne at the end was so beautiful, a great choice.
Such a nice video and fantastic to see you spotlight Andreas Ruthemann’s work. His patterns are so original and the patterns have a beautiful, super clear layout. I test knit for him and it was such a joy. Hope you also get to knit one of his designs some day 😊
Hi Selma! Thank you for your channel. I always enjoy watching. If you decide you do want eyes on your gnomes, I’ve seen some knitters use a small Sharpie to color single stitches instead of duplicate stitch. I would try it on the bottom of a sock before committing, though.
Love the two focuses for 2025. Can the designers be crochet designers. Two Australian podcasters are running a lovelocal focus to highlight Australian and New Zealand designers, fibre and dyers. This will mesh very well with yours so I can tick lots of boxes with one knit or crochet project. Very motivational for me. All the best for 2025.
Looking forward to joining along in your KALS! I have stash earmarked for all but two the projects on my 2025 knitting list and a couple things on my make list qualify as hidden gems. Lovely podcast as always.
Thanks so much for sharing all the wonderful things that you make. It's good to reflect on our crafting and see what worked and what didn't really fill that brief garments wise. I think it would be good to do it with everything. I knit a lot for other people, I always worry that they won't like what I make or won't use it. I keep asking and so far no one has said that's enough. While they keep wearing them, I will keep making them. Thanks for sharing all of your making, I really loved seeing what you were sewing too. I want to get back to sewing but I struggle getting things to fit well. I am looking forward to this new year and your craft alongs.
A most enjoyable and inspiring episode. I’m going to be busy busting stash this year. Also- lovely music and footage at the end, gorgeous birds! Happy 2025!
I just finished the Mårvej light for my son, and I'm very happy with it. I love Andreas Ruthemann's designs, also because it is not easy to find nice patterns for men!
You have such a lovely and soothing voice. I love your knits. I just wanted to tell you about a problem that I had using beans for the base of a project. The recipient of the gift had dogs and they got hold of the bean-stuffed item. They chewed them up and were quite sick when the beans expanded in their bellies. They survived but I have been very careful since then. Lesson learned. Happy New Year to you and your family!
Karen Brown (quilter) of Just Get it Done Quilts has a great declutter challenge. Great for all crafters. Im following in my knitting den and sewing studio. I love your idea of highlighting lesser know designers - Thanks!!
Oh, what a wonderful episode, Selma, to conclude the year and take a breath. It has been a profound joy to have you in my life. Thank you so much for all you do for us. I am so excited to learn about new-to-me designers, I feel it is overdue to shine a light on all the wonderful work and art that goes into designs all around the world without being appreciated enough. I am German myself but haven‘t tried any of Silke‘s designs, which needs to change. Thank you for bringing her to my attention. And how lovely of Silke to offer the discount! Happy New Year to you as well, and my dearest wishes for a joyful 2025.
Hi Selma, your closing was so beautiful. The photography was exquisite and the music fits so perfectly. I really enjoyed this podcast when I saw your red ranunculus I thought oh my God I need to make a red one now. I loved the MAL ideas and your idea to feature lesser known designers. Such great ideas. I enjoyed when you talked about the challenges you did this year. I love that idea and want to participate. Did you say it is open to all members on Patreon. I found that I was locked out as a free member. I also liked how you talked about the knits that didn’t work out. So educational. Thanks for always having great content.
Customers of my LYS have knit many Gnomes. We have used very large washers we buy at hardware store. It weighs the bottom well and makes it flat for standing.
Thanks for sharing your lovely makes - I always look forward to watching your podcasts 🤗 and hope to join in your makealongs. 🧶 Happy New Year 2025! 🎉🥂
Thanks, Selma for sharing your makes with us. They are all lovely..you should be proud of all of them. Hope you had a wonderful holiday and wishing you all the best in 2025. Looking forward to spending time with you then.
Lovely episode as always Selma🎉 I wish you a wonderful new year and look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve for us this year!. Not sure if you know this but the version of Auld Lang Syne you used is by a Swedish trio call Loving Caliber and I think their rendition is one of the loveliest out there 😊
Thank you Selma for all of your wonderful podcasts. I too loved the beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne at the end - very moving. All the best for 2025 😊
as always I appreciate your honesty. you excel in stating your disappointments and frustrations in such an accepting manner. it helps me accept mine and be more willing to modify a finished garment. also your photography is beautiful. it is so pleasant to see scenes so different from my own. looking for to a new year.
Although I am not knitting the Julgubbe stocking pattern, I have been knitting arm warmers using a yarn made by The Fibre Company, the same company that makes Amble, the fingering weight yarn that's featured in the Julegubbe pattern. It's Cumbria and the gauge ranges from DK to worsted, depending on your needle size. Cumbria is a nice yarn.
Thank you for another fabulous video. I have just finished Gnatty and used a large, heavy washer bought from Rona’s. He is my second gnome and I like the idea of knitting a gnome each winter. Happy New Year from Waterloo!
I love the idea of featuring lesser known designers and patterns. There are so many lovely knits that should be promoted. I have the perfect patterns and yarn in my stash to use. Happy New Year!
So lovely to see you again Selma. Another great pod; I love your idea of showcasing some lesser know designers. You have inspired me to take part in the KALs; I have never done a KAL before, it will be fun. All the best to you and yours for 2025
Lots of lovely makes Selma. I’m struggling with a Smoke Show Vest at the moment and hoping to have it finished by the 31st !! Great to hear Auld Lang Syne - always brings a lump to my throat being a patriotic 🏴. Happy New Year to you and all of your subscribers. 🎉🥂. 🙋🏼🏴
I really enjoyed this. I look forward to the KALs in 2025. I had already determined to knit mostly from my stash this year-for me, for gifts, for charity. Have a wonderful New Year. See you then.
Your podcasts gives us such a great variety and I really enjoy seeing what you have to share! Are you ever going to give teaching podcasts? Happy New Year, Selma!☮️
I wish you a happy 2025. I love your Podcast so much. Your lovely projects and also the walks in the canadian nature, with the lovely music you always choose
Thank you for the beautiful song at the end, what a perfect way to round up this year. I enjoyed your listing of favourites and not so f… You make beautiful things. Great idea of HIDDEN GEMS, it will be interesting to learn about new designs 😊 Happy New Year and all the best to you and your family.
Another great podcast. Love your final song. I love the idea behind your two make alongs for 2025. Hoping to take part. Happy New Year to you and your family as well.
I am so happy to start the first day of 2025 with your video and all your lovely makes. I look forward to knitting more garments this year. Wishing you a healthy and happy new year 🎉
Loved the turkey in the snow walk! Lovely motivations on destashing and decluttering…which I have done a lot of this week. I looked at all who had pictures of that blue tee and honestly only person who looked great in it wore a size 2 and it was a neutral color. I wonder if the placement of the lace panel should have been in a different place. I don’t know. I don’t think it would work on me either. Happy new year and to seeing more of your lovely projects.!
Great podcast year and knitting year for you. I’m in a knitting slump. Will be watching for something to inspire me. I don’t wear shawls in Florida but I love making them. I might look at some old Steven West patterns and knit a piece of art. I have a lace weight tee pattern I like. It’s the Breezy summer tee by Jane Balle. Only 29 projects currently, yet one of the few tee patterns suitable for warm weather. Circular yoke patterns are usually not flattering for me, but this one fits very well. Hope 2025 is a good year for you and your family. Hugs, Deb
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful makes and designers who are inspiring you. I'm on the decluttering train at the moment as well. It is work but very satisfying. :)
Hello there, also on the decluttering spree! I have been watching the minimal mom here on youtube and she is really inspiring and has some amazing ideas/pointers for it. REally enjoyed hearing about the designers! Marie
It was such a relaxed and beautiful Podcast. Thanks for all your efforts you put into making them, Selma. I am looking forward to join your MKAL. Good idea to mention some less popular designs. Have a good start to the new year 2025 🎉😊
Loved your discussion of favorites and not so favorites. I also really appreciate you introducing us to new designers. I am over the moon with a coupe of Andreas Ruthemann's designs. Have a wonderful new year.
Happy new year, Selma. Always lovely to watch your podcasts. Thank you for all you do. I know it is a lot of work. Your presentation and content is wonderful. I don’t agree that your blue vest does not fit you I think it looks great. And that color is beautiful on you. I love the Cornish knitter so glad you are going there on the retreat maybe one year I will make it as well. It looks lovely where she is, In Cornwall, doesn’t it?
Thank you for all your podcasts this year, Selma. I still think your blue vest looks perfect, lovely shade, even though it might not feel that way. Have a very Happy New Year.
Happy Christmas and New Year, Selma! I like your knit a long ideas. If I was on Instagram, I would definitely participate. I especially like the idea of promoting lesser-known designers. One of my most favourite designers (Anna Daku of The Blubird Box) is extremely talented, but not well known yet.
Congrats on finishing the colorwork on your socks. They're so cute. I have so enjoyed spending 2024 with you and look forward to another year of podcasts and now also Patreon. I wish you and your family good health and happiness for 2025. Loved the song and birds, berries and pretty Sumac.
❤❤happy new year,,selma🎉 Loved that,,,,!!! Great chat and visit in between Christmas and new years 🎉🎉 Definitely joining the ravelry group to use my stash,,,, I am really trying to get wips done,,,so this will motivate me,,, Take care Elaine ❤️🏠
this is a wonderful podcast! And what a beautiful way to close it with snowy winter scenes. I loved looking at your year of knits, starting with Nathan and Gnatty. Just so that you know, gnomes don’t like to be symmetrical. They are asymmetric folks by nature so I’m sure that Gnatty is very happy just as he is even if he is filled with Beans and might be a bit gassy. Have a very wonderful New Year’s.
Thank you Selma. Love, love, love the video/song combination you finished with, it felt like a gift. I hope it meant your knee is giving you less trouble. I appreciated your favourites/disappointments section. I can get overwhelmed sometimes when watching someone do a parade of all their knits of the year when they're a prolific knitter and it was nice to hear why your favourites stand out for you - as well as the honesty of acknowledging disappointments. It made me think of my own favourite projects - you're right, some things do just leap off the page. Looking forward to your makealongs, already have some ideas. Happy New Year to you and your family x
I’m so glad the video resonated with you! The knee is somewhat better. Definitely not giving me the immense pain as before!! Hopefully we are on the mend!! 🤗🤗
Again I love your podcast. ♥️ I am danish, and I know a bit about Andreas Ruthemann: He used to spent his childhood summers i Danmark in a summer house area, on a Road called Mårvej. Mårvej = Martenroad or Martenway. And the blue pattern in the sweater is inspired from the danish very old, royal and valued danish porcelain called Musselmalet. And ‘Musselmalet’ is a protected name, so he could not name the sweater after that. And this is why he came up with a name that gave him good memories of Danmark. Happy New Year! 🎉
Ooh, I've been wanting to knit another Jennifer Beale pattern, and this would fit into both KALs! I knit my first Jennifer Beale this past year, and it was a fantastic experience and a beautiful result ❤
Happy new year Selma, I wish you and everyone health and peace...and a lot of crafting! Thank you for the inspiration, and your calm and cheerful self 💖💫🥂🍀
Lovely to see you again this year, Selma! Your red Ranunculus looks beautiful, a smashing shade- and a good match for your lippy too! 😂Those Fairisle socks are just too beautiful, they might tempt me back into sock knitting but I’m not sure…they do look gorgeous though. Oh! A question! Would you say Gnatty is a Gonk on the Wonk?😁 Merry belated Christmas and all good wishes for a great New Year!
Hi Selma. Just viewed your episode from 9 months trip to Montreal. I loved the gray sweater in the window. It was very airy. Possibly done with Gedifra Laura yarn. You decided not to buy. Do you know name of pattern or kit available from Biscotte yarns??? Thank You!
I want to suggest for your hidden gems KAL the Big Softie pullover by Ewelina Murach. I test knit this for her and there are only 10 projects currently. I love the sweater!
Happy new year ! I enjoyed this video immensly, it made me think of my favorite knits of the year thanks. I also love the video at the end with birds and snow.
Thank you so much for featuring my work - what a lovely surprise! Wishing you all the best for 2025 🎉
Hi Selma ! Thanks! I’ll have to check out that minimalist mom!! 🤗🤗
@@littlebigknits She has some great ideas on letting things go! Hope you enjoy her
A new subscriber here. Happy to start the new year following your beautifull works
@rosalie-l2d welcome!! Thank you for subscribing!!! I hope you continue to enjoy the channel 🤗
I am thrilled you enjoyed it!!
Glad you like the vest!! And thank you for always being here Linda! Happy 2025!! ❤️🎊❤️
Selma …. I LOVE the way the armholes “ curve in “ on your Stockholm vest. So pretty.
Thank you for all your podcasts this year, Selma. I still think your blue vest looks perfect, lovely shade, even though it might not feel that way. Have a very Happy New Year.
You are very kind! I hope you have a wonderful new year too!
Happy New Year, Selma! I enjoyed your 'year in review'. May 2025 bring you and yours many blessings. 🙂
Thank you so much! ☺️ Happy New Year to you 🎉
Love the two MALs for 2025. And the rest of the podcast too

this is a wonderful podcast!
😂😂😂 love it!! He has been a tiny bit stinky and I had no idea why 😂😂
Wishing you a very happy, peaceful New Year Selma. Always enjoy your vlogs and look forward to seeing you in 2025. Best wishes to you❤
Thank you so much! All the best to you for 2025! ❤️🎊❤️
Thank you for this wonderful podcast! I wish you all the best for 2025 and I hope to see you at Knit City Montreal as I did in the past.
Thank you! I hope to see you there too!
Love the ending video - living in the US must say a lot of apprehension heading into 2025
❤️
I liove your 2025 KALs. Instagram hashtags don’t work for KALs any more. They’re not showing everything anymore 😢
Great inspiration for that sweater!! It’s really lovely!
I enjoy your content.
Disappointed that you are going the patroon route
Thank you for another great episode! I think I'll try that Mårvej Sweater for my son!
That would be wonderful!!
Happy New Year 🎊 The winter scenery is beautiful..🤩
🎉🎉🎉 it was a very foggy day and beautiful for taking video!
Ooh, I've been wanting to knit another Jennifer Beale pattern, and this would fit into both KALs! I knit my first Jennifer Beale this past year, and it was a fantastic experience and a beautiful result ❤
Yes - great choice!! 🤗 she is so talented!!
Happy New Year Selma, all the best in 2025! Your podcasts are always full of inspiration!

Thank you so much!! All the best to you!!
Thank you Selma for a year full of inspiration! I will be joining one of your KAL’s this year for sure! Happy New Year! 🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳🌻
I'm so glad I could inspire you! Happy New Year! 🥳🤗

Hi Selma. Just viewed your episode from 9 months trip to Montreal. I loved the gray sweater in the window. It was very airy. Possibly done with Gedifra Laura yarn. You decided not to buy. Do you know name of pattern or kit available from Biscotte yarns??? Thank You!
Thanks for the podcast and a lot of inspiration. The makealong with not so known designers is such a great idea.
Happy new year 🎉🥂
Same to you! 🤗
Happy New Year Selma
Same to you! 🎉🎉
