  • In last season's shocking and gripping finale, Jesse (Paul) was on the run, with Mike (Jonathan Banks) in hot pursuit, while Walt negotiated for his life with Gus (Giancarlo Esposito). In a desperate attempt to escape certain death, Walt concocted a disturbing plan - kill his former lab assistant Gale - to provide for his and Jesse's safety. The scheme ultimately forced Jesse to Gale's doorstep with a gun while Walt was held hostage in the Superlab. This season, Walt and Jesse must cope with the fallout both personally and professionally. As well, tension mounts as Walt faces a true standoff with his employer, Gus, with neither side willing or able to back down. Walt must also adjust to a new relationship with Skyler (Anna Gunn), whom while still reconciling her relationship with Walt, is committed to properly laundering Walt's money and ensuring her sister Marie (Betsy Brandt) and an ailing Hank (Dean Norris) are financially stable.

    I feel like this loyalty Walt showed to Jesse in the first clip was entirely genuine. A lot of people like to say that Walt only ever manipulated Jesse, and he definitely manipulated him at times, but that's realistic. People always manipulate others to make gains. Jesse dying would've hurt Walt. He doesn't WANT bad things for Jesse, but he does want the best outcomes for himself, and if Jesse is sometimes thrown under the bus, not killed, for Walt to be in a better position, he takes it.

    His ego and esteem issues prompted him to turn down the financial aid in S1, thus starting his journey towards a meth empire. While he physically evolved and his outward personality went from meek to menacing, he never really showed true emotional growth.

    It must have been a thrill for all the actors and crew involved with this series to know they were achieving something miraculous. By the end, it was a worldwide phenomenon.

    After watching the scene where Mike gives Nacho a glass of alcohol before he had to "make it look real".
    Mike insisting that Walter drinks his drink before he beats him at the bar is hilarious

      @thomasfoster1181 No, it read my comment again, the alcohol is for Nacho to feel less pain because Mike doesn't want to hurt him
      Mike is warning Walter to drink up before he beats him up

    • @KobaAM
      @KobaAM 5 лет назад +14

      Because people loved Walt, plus the interactions with Skyler got really old early on. In real life people would understand her.

    • @covfefewithextracream5569
      @covfefewithextracream5569 4 года назад +18

      I believe she was written in a way to be a "bitchy" character, so that people have someone to hate, but then her life starts to get more and more tragic, and we start to sympathize with her, and simultaneously antagonize the mentally deteriorating Walt. I rewatched it, and found myself feeling bad for Skyler when she got dragged into the whole money laundering mess.

    That last scene at the dinner table... walt should be happy that all the blame is now directed towards a man that is dead and maybe the investigation will now come to a standstill... but hank's words hurt his ego and he makes a happy relaxed dea agent think and doubt himself...maybe making him think to start the investigation all over again.. such brilliant writing and such a fantastic portrayal by bryan cranston..!!

    Man oh man i freakin love this damn show...not only is it brilliantly written & acted it is also incredibly thought provoking as well...from Walts lose of humanity, to even Jesses choice in the women he falls in love with....i mean Jesse always plays the hero role when the opportunity arises...whether it was trying to save his girlfriends brother ect...Jesse, regardless that he cooks meth, has always been a gentle soul. He never wants to hurt anyone and the only time he does is when he is forced to and him n Walt are backed into a corner so by saving and helping others he feels like he can redeem himself and is free to be who he truly is in those acts. All in all this show is fucken incredible! Not many shows are so wonderfully written and acted that as a veiwer u get sucked in to each character and as the seasons progress and the main characters change, in a way u change with them.
