Thank you for sharing this recipe I married a Polish man from Poland and we always have the salad but I am not spending $12 for 2 cups of salad at a store so I’m making it myself this year !!!!!
Dated a Polish lady in my hometown of Glasgow Scotland and became interested in everything Polish..Food,culture and history, will have a go at making this salad. Have also visited Gdansk twice and Krakow, hope to visit Poland again soon.
Dated a Polish guy in my early 20's and always loved this salad when visiting his parents place. This is the closest recipe I've found to theirs. Thank you!
I haven't had this salad in 16 years, since I divorced my Polish wife and have craved it ever since. Funny when you said you had a trick to dicing the veggies I knew you were going to pull out an egg slicer lol. Thank you for showing us how easy this sslad is to make.
When we made this mom added in some of the pickle brine if it was too thick and needed to be loosened up a little (without adding more mayo). Very good!
Very good recipe. I feel like the pickles in the brine are what makes this salad. There are items here and there that are nice to have but not as necessary but pickles in brine as very helpful. Highly recommend that piece. Also, I'm happy you mentioned the sour cream. I'm a big fan of adding high quality mayo, sour cream, and spicy mustard. Spicy mustard is the secret ingredient (Specifically Gulden's if available). So good.
This is something my mom likes to make for Xmas Eve dinner to go with the fish. I would love to see a traditional Christmas Eve seafood dinner you do as a polish catholic- (if applicable of course) Seems like no one is around anymore to pass on tradition so that’s why I ask you. You seem to be right on point with all your recipes! Loyal fan either way! Love and light always ❤Smatchnego!
Hi Annya, I had a plan to do a Christmas Cook-along showing all the dishes we make for Christmas, but we all fell ill, so we had to cancel. I do make all the traditional fish dishes, and I have recipes for all of the them polishyourkitchen.com. Thanks for watching!
My Babci never wrote anything down because she didn’t write well and everything was in her head. She wasn’t even very good at letting her girls help. Fortunately my mother (her daughter) started insisting that she be shown and would go over and watch, and write down the recipes. I think Babci liked being the only one who knew sometimes, although she was better at showing me, her granddaughter. My mother has given all of us her recipes. She has one recipe for piróg which was from my Babci’s region near Lublin. It is a baked dough filled with buckwheat and other ingredients. Not sweet, more savory. My sisters and I have been asking our mom to show us how make that! I like the work “pickley”! Looks wonderful!
I think this is true for many of us. I’m glad you can recreate some of those recipes. I have a recipe for buckwheat pierogi filling, maybe it’s similar to your grandma’s. It’s published on my website (polishyourkitchen.com -> RECIPES -> PIEROGI AND DUMPLINGS). I bet it’s a pizza like dough filled with this filling. 😊
My Babci came to America in 1916 when she was 16 years old. She never spoke really good English because when she moved to Hamtramck Michigan, her church her work the grocery store her neighbors were all Polish. My parents never taught us Polish because in the 50s, Polish wasn’t cool.
I love this! Never heard of this salad before, probably because my Daddy was a big meat eater. As an adult now, and a vegetarian, this sounds and looks so good! Also easy to make! Love, love, love your videos!
Yummy! I just can’t do the parsnip (something about that flavor) but I love rutabaga. And I have all the ingredients, amazing enough, to make this salad today. That and your amazing little beet salad. ❤️
my ex mother in law showed me how to make this (and bigos). I now make it for family in USA - because of all the chopping work, I can't get anyone else to make this - but at gatherings they all want this as my bring a dish to the party 🤣🤣🤣
Ahhh Adzia, that looks lovely! I'll give it a try sometime soon. And indeed, c ook me to think of it: I did sometimes wonder how meticulously fine yout salads were chopped 😊
I make this, glad you didn't have peas, lol, I do not like peas. A restaurant near me uses peas - Simply Pierogi, but that's okay, everything else is good!!
I love onions celery, and mushrooms and everything. I like miracle whip not mayonnaise. Why can I use it? I’d rather use sour cream, etc. then mayonnaise.
Thank you for sharing this recipe

This looks sooo good. I love the refrigerator and that's my favourite colour!!!

I starting using my egg slicer a few years ago to chop vegetables that are soft.
My grandma made delicious potato salad, but this looks amazing. I love the addition of more root vegetables and peas!

My Mum always used Salad Cream, I've tried both and for me Salad Cream tastes a lot better.
I love onions celery, and mushrooms and everything
Maybe its just me but is the song when she was chopping the potatoes and eggs a country style cover of quiet riot?
When we made this mom added in some of the pickle brine if it was too thick and needed to be loosened up a little (without adding more mayo). Very good!
Good idea! I will try this!😊
I do this, too.

You are amazing 🤩 I love polish salad and in general Poland 🇵🇱❤️ kisses from Greece 🥰
Bardzo pyszna sałatka! Zrobiłam wiele razy dla gości. Dzięki.
This dish makes the holidays for me!
In Poland you can get siatka do warzyw. It is a metal ring with metal net of dice size, and it helps you dice all the soft veg.
Thanks for the info!
Your videos are such a joy to watch ❤

Awesome! Happy cooking!😊
Looks good. I usually get from Polish deli. I suppose other veggies are possible. Is diced celery or onions common?
My mother in law and friends' moms always added celery and onions.

Yum my favorite from growing up...Request a video on Easter Barszcz!!
Check out “żurek” video 😊 it’s similar to “biały barszcz” just made with wheat flour. 😊
This is Christmas Eve in a bowl!
Nice recipe 👍🏻Thanks for sharing
A delicious salad! Where would I buy the potato slicer as shown in video?
Every large grocery store should carry it. Look in the kitchen “widget” isle. 🙂
@@PolishYourKitchen Thanks for your suggestion. I enjoy watching your videos!
Ahhh Adzia, that looks lovely! I'll give it a try sometime soon. And indeed, c ook me to think of it: I did sometimes wonder how meticulously fine yout salads were chopped 😊
You will enjoy it, I know it!😊
i can not wait to try this ...looks great...my husband will love it.......do you ever substitute celery for the parsnip ?
I cut my potatoes and eggs in my hand when I make potato salad.❤
I make this, glad you didn't have peas, lol, I do not like peas. A restaurant near me uses peas - Simply Pierogi, but that's okay, everything else is good!!
Great videos! Enjoyed seeing your garden home kitchen. It’s lovely!
Thank you so much!! 😊 Come and visit😉
Did u add a cucumber. In it. You mentioned ed it. Great to see you
Added pickles. 👍🏻
I'm surprised there's no type of mustard or dry mustard mixed with the Hellmans
parsley root, do we have that in the States?
Sure do. Thanks for watching!
Musi być groszek zielony konserwowy, nie dodaje żadnego koperku, pol jabłka wystarczy bo inaczej zbyt go czuc. Smacznego
jak można się dzielić tak polskim i niepowtarzalnym przysmakiem 😂
I like to add a 1/2 cup of sour cream to my salads with mayonnaise.
I was hoping you were going to say "Happy Easter!" in Polish. I haven't hear it in awhile.
Wesołych Świąt Wielkanocnych!! ❤️
😊 thank you!
Are the carrots cooked already? I missed it.
Yes, cooked and cooled.
Are This vegetables cooked before or not?
Yup, all the vegetables are cooked before the salad is mixed together.
I love onions celery, and mushrooms and everything. I like miracle whip not mayonnaise. Why can I use it? I’d rather use sour cream, etc. then mayonnaise.
Isnt eggs odour bad in salad?
Not at all.
Does it matter what type of Apple?
Doesn’t 👍🏻
I use a green tart apple
You forgot to add celery root

Do not put potato into this recipe!! Ever. Much better without
