Just rewatched the original movie over the weekend oddly enough. As much as I absolutely love the TV series, I'm curious to see more worldbuilding from the planned original trilogy. There are ways it can be made without ignoring or retconning the shows.
They talked about a reboot, but honestly I'd love to seem them just make their sequels the way they'd planned. I don't care if it contradicts the shows, SG-1 can just call it an alternate timeline and we're good in my book. I guess what I'm saying is that a movie trilogy doesn't have to fit inside the show's canon for me to enjoy both. (Heck, the show doesn't fit inside the movie's canon that well anyway.)
That was a great interview many months ago and was delighted to hear from Dean Devlin what the original idea for the Stargate was for, very intriguing.
I had always imagined this was loosely based on the book by Erich von Danniken, Chariots of the Gods. In it, he suggests that the pyramids were landing craft for alien spaceships, as we saw Ra's ship land on the pyramid on Abyddos. And the concept of a stargate also predates science fiction. Several cultures have in their mythos tales of a portal to another world, or a means for the gods to travel between their world and ours. As far as a "reboot" of the films, as well as a new series, I personally believe there is room for both, and they still don't have to be connected. I'm just like a lot of others, and skittish when it comes to Amazon being the ones to develop and distribute it (series).
This was fascinating; I've learned something completely new about the film, and it was something I'd been wondering for ages. Thank you for doing this interview :D
Wait Dean Delvin the guy behind The Librarians & Leverage is behind Stargate too? Makes sense! They all have a small group of ppl that are like family trying to do good :)
The timing of this is terrifying. Why do I get the feeling that information has come in? Perhaps the powers that be are pushing hard for a franchise reboot or a sequel to the original Stargate film, ... and are lobbying towards resisting the temptation of continuing the franchise as we knew it. I for one have no interest in a reboot. Especially one that only takes place based on the original film.
@@DialtheGate Lol. Ok. I just get paranoid regarding the Stargate/Amazon thing. Remember that scene from avengers Endgame? The one where black widow finds Hawkeye? That’s me after the Amazon purchase. I am all like… “Don’t do that… Don’t give me hope.” Lol 😂
@@DialtheGate A matter of time? That might be a very appropriate statement. It’s like this deal is taking place too close to an event horizon of a black hole. We’ve only just heard of it on this side of the screen… But you’ve flown back-and-forth to Hollywood three times. Lol. That’s why I I’m so terrified that you know much much more than we do.
Seeing as we're very likely not getting a SGU continuation... I NEED to know what the background radiation stuff means that the Ancients found within the universe, what does it mean!? 😫😅😬

The elegance of a smaller gate network... That's a cool movie trilogy idea.

How Stargate was born, this is the most important story of them all! 😄
I love this channel. It has all the answers to the questions I should have asked. 😀

I really wouldn’t read too much into it. Nice thought though!

Patience! One day! Just a matter of time.

It's so that you can dial the gate to The Destiny of course! 😉
Seven needed for local (in-galaxy) calls, eight for long distance (other galaxies), and the ninth for mobile devices (gates on ships)
In the tv series yes, but as you can hear in this interview it had another purpose in the original movie, it was just never explained.
@53s I heard originally they wanted to call it "Going to Other Planets", but the producers said having a 1 in the name would get better ratings. :)
Can you maybe get the composers of the music on the show? Great soundtrack for the series
We interviewed Neal Acree, the last living composer of all three shows!
If you're hoping for a new interview with the composer who did most of the music for the series, I have some bad news for you...
@@DialtheGate thanks I'll look it up!!!

One of three things I think. God, pre-Big Bang Species or time-traveling Destiny crew's doing.
Destiny crew became the first Ascended and some stayed on a planet and became the Ori/ Ancients.
The roel Dean did was Tyler (!) in Moon 44.
The 8th chevron took them to atlantis.. so where would the 9th take them? I am thinking directly to the ancients themselves
Destiny :)
Time travel maybe? It helps to specify a time frame.
Where's the full video?
Please see video description.
@@DialtheGate i did and watched the whole thing! Hope your watch hours are better than mine!!@
