- STARGATE made fast friends of cast and crew, and that extended to the recurring guest stars on the show. Maybe the two we saw the most of over SG-1's ten-year run were Tony Amendola (Master Bra'tac) and Carmen Argenziano (Jacob Carter). Though they didn't actually appear on screen together until Season Six ("Allegiance"), the two journeyman actors were fast friends and enjoyed each other's company off the set.
In this conversation with "Dial the Gate" Tony remembers his friend Carmen, who sadly passed away in 2019. He also talks about fans' mistaken identity, playing Salieri in "Amadeus," and his theater work as a young actor.
This is a clip from our full, hour-long conversion with Tony. Watch the full interview on "Dial the Gate": • 002: Tony Amendola, "B...

THANKS FOR WATCHING! Here's another clip from this conversation with Tony, in which he talks about his first day on set and meeting Chris Judge ... and kind of snubbing Richard Dean Anderson: ruclips.net/video/k58EwI4vJz0/видео.html
He hasnt aged since SG1. He really must be jafa
If he is really a Jaffa, then he should share some of that Tretonin. Could be useful right now.
@@magical_catgirl if only it was in mass supply.
Is this guy really immortal? His faced hasn't changed in 30 years...
His voice too! I was pleasantly surprised when I heard him in Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order
EXACTLY what I was thinking lol. Didn't even know he's still alive. He looks exactly the same as 20 years ago when I thought he was old holy shit.
Actually to me he seems even younger...
For being 163 years old, he seems great.
They made him look older than he actually was. In the first season, he was 46 years old, not exactly Methuselah.😁
Tony is such a gentleman. I love his character. Losing Jacob was a really sad day. Jacob and Tony represent a generation of actors that we are slowly losing. Enjoy them while they are here!
It's weird to mix actor and character names like that. 🤔
@@user-vn7ce5ig1z *Not really and I think **#SeanMolony** has it right.*
100%, both Tony and the character are great
Yeah I got a little tongue tied but y'all get the point, I meant to type Carmen but it was early and I was using my phone. Lol
Tony as Bra'tac made Stargate just so warm and wholesome. I always looked forward to another episode with him, and I thoroughly enjoyed his dynamics with Teal'c and the other Jaffa characters.
Good health and have a nice day, Tony of Connecticut :)
When he crossed into my other fandom (Star Wars) I was soo happily surprised and thrilled ❤️
Eno Cordova! That was such a pleasant surprise in that game!
@@Atakir1984I kept referring to him as Jedi Master Bra'tac
I liked his character in Continuum, too.
SG-1 was one of my all-time favorite shows, of all time! And still is... lol
What an awesome guy he is!
I love these interviews! I was trying to get students to understand the need for doing significant, not just superficial, background research before heading off to an interview and these interviews are marvelous for anyone covering entertainment. Amendola explains acting so well that a reporter can develop many questions to ask, rather than the worn out “What was your favorite role?”. Good job!
WOW He looks the same age as when he first appeared on the show.
He's great in so many roles and shows but I will always associate him with master Bratac. One of my favorite characters on SG
HAMOND of texus!!
I loved Bra'tac's character! What an awesome guy!!
Tony and Carmen are both amazing actors
Looks exactly the same 20+ years later. How?
Because he is a Jaffa.
Not bad for an old man of 137!!!
The man hasnt aged a day, not bad for a man of 133
Love Bra’tac!
Man, it was so weird seeing him play in Once Upon a Time..
Love this actor ^-^
Love you in the show
What an interesting interview. I loved him in sg1. :)
I love Tony's answers. Very insightful and super intelligent.
he acts like a young man of 80
Reminds me i used to mess with my dad saying "det är bra tack" in swedish, which means "it is good thanks" or it is bra'tac, and to be fair both could be true
Thanks
Master Bra'tac !!! One of my favorite character in SG-1 !
Dang! I've thought all these years that Tony Amendola played Salieri in Amadeus! Wow.
Great interview
Thank you for taking the time to conduct these insightful interviews
Him and RDA are the same age which is crazy!
I would love to see an interview with Patrick McKenna from "The Other Guys" Ep. I loved watching him for years in the Red Green show and would love to hear how he liked being part of SG1.
Tek'ma'te Bra'tac
I learned a lot from Bratek. I do hope that the new stargate is as good as it ever was.
Tony Anendola THANK YOU!!!
• 2:23 - Tony definitely looks a lot like F. Murray Abraham. It's not that he and Carmen look alike, it's that their characters were somewhat similar and not constantly on the show, just occasional recurring appearances, so it's possible to mix up the characters, and thus the actors. I myself have often conflated them mentally when thinking of the show (though upon actually seeing their faces, the confusion goes away, so… 🤷) • 3:25 - Shave the beard and dye the hair and you're set. 😉
This comment nails it. Not until season six do we see Bratac and Jacob in the same episode (the one where the Jaffa and the Tokra are at each others' throats because of ashrak deception). The show's producers, writers, etc. either knew consciously or intuitively that the two characters (both father figures, both leaders/representatives for their respective groups ) were too much alike. The two men also appeared in a similar number of episodes.
I literally did a double take at that moment and had to look up the cast list for Amadeus to check who had played Salieri, because him and F Murray Abraham look almost identical!!!
I was really happy when I heard him in some of the games I played. Like Khadgar in World of Warcraft. Just an amazing guy
I'd love a Kaven Smith interview.
*So enjoyable **#GateWorld** and **#DialtheGate**, thank y’all very much.*
Dam it it’s wasn’t live lol oopa
OMG love this still looks young as fu8*
I dunno why i was under the impression that Tony Amendola had passed away a few years back but man am i glad to see he's alive and doing well!
No, alas that was Carmen Agenziano (Jacob Carter) who passed away.
@@GateWorldDotNet I'm sorry to hear :(
It just occurred to me that I'd never heard his actual voice until now! In every role I've seen him in, he's affected a heavy accent.
Tony Fabolous actor
What was it like working with teal’c
Come on people don't forget to like the videos ! 4253 views and only 303 likes ??
This reminds me of the time, someone put a Superman comic in front of Stan Lee, and he just signed it.
Omggg
Top ;)
Please close the parenthesis on the title
Fixed ;)
Mr. Amendola looked like a _Half-Life 2_ NPC.
Master Bre-tac
To be fair, there are pictures of Carmen Argenziano with the same beard and bald head.
How does he look the same as he did before!?
lol
