- KATE HEWLETT is one of our favorite guest stars on STARGATE ATLANTIS -- and it's not just because she has a wonderful rapport with her real-life brother, David Hewlett. Kate is also a wonderful actor, who brings heart and intelligence to the role of Rodney McKay's sister, Jeannie.
In this clip from "Dial the Gate" Kate talks about shooting her first appearance on the show -- Season 3's "McKay and Mrs. Miller," which featured multiple McKays. She also remembers her time on David Hewlett's directorial debut, 2007's dark comedy A Dog's Breakfast.
This clip is from Dial the Gate's full-length, 70-minute conversation with Kate. Watch the full interview here: • 051: Kate Hewlett, "Je...

THANK YOU for watching! If you need some more Kate Hewlett in your life, here's another clip where she talks about her work on ATLANTIS and acting alongside her brother: ruclips.net/video/J87hvqQD-oY/видео.html
Wow, Kate hasn't aged a day!
Really happy to see her on the show, her episodes were always a highlight!
I agree she aged good.
nah she aged a week
Honestly, the way they wrote McKay and Ms. Miller, knowing they were real life siblings, it seemed like a real sibling rivalry and the dynamic was great, so I think the actual real siblings made it better.
I found "A dog's Breakfast" and I watched it. Absolutely freakin' hilarious! I love it! ♥♥♥
I just love the scene where Jeannie is transported to the daedalus. its just perfect reaction
Her little wobble and sway to catch her balance when she turns around on the ship for the first time is exactly how i would perceive that info in the brain, seeing the earth below me and trying to piece it all together without freaking out.
Superb acting.
The thing about A Dogs Breakfast, I kept expecting it to be an alt reality SG episode and they would all wind up back at the gate room. A fun film none the less.
McKay was by far my favourite character on all of SG
I agree, but only because of Atlantis. He got the same treatment as Mr. Woolsey in Atlantis and Camille Wray in Universe. Turning from purely antagonistic characters to supporting or leading cast with their own quirks.
She makes me smile.
You should have clips from the episodes you talk about for a better experience(imo).
Great to get insights to the characters we only saw on occasions, I really liked the one Kate was in as it was great to see David (Rodney) rubbed up the wrong way. I especially like the episode where Rodney had the bug in is brain, the way Kate and David interacted was immense.
A dog’s breakfast was so good I got it on dvd back when it came out, I’m gona go watch it agin
Thanks for the enjoyable interview. I'm going to rent " A Dog's Breakfast". Sounds like and enjoyable movie to be " A Dog's Bed and Breakfast"
Did you watch it? It's a great movie. I laughed so hard the entire way through.
they both are such a vibe 😂😂
That is sibling love/appreciation!
She is a very good actress and seems very sweet.
I love them all
Great video.
She's so pretty!! 😍
And her smile...
I like David a lot but if I met him I would probably just ask him about his sister 😘
So this guy has an asgard armor in his room:D how cool is that and not just pff i need to get into collecting stuff like that
I'm not that much into Star Trek but isn't it more a Borg than an Asgard Armor from SGA Season 5?
I might be wrong so sorry in advance =P
@@johannesschiele1513 i crosschecked with images i found on the internet from the SGA episodes.. looks exactly like it so i guess its that..
It definitely is an Asgard Armor, he’s a real collector
It's actually an ancient environmental suit from the stargate universe series. 100%
Collect them all!
I always thought Tarantino could have played his brother, if he had one.
shes so pretty
What's the difference between (Dial the Gate) and gate world??
(Dial the Gate) is highlight clips?? And gate-world is full-length interviews??
"Dial the Gate" is the livestream interview show hosted by David Read (who got his start on GateWorld). After interviews air he then shares clips with us, as well as posting them on his own channel.
Ridiculous! you can never have enough Hewlerrs.
Wow bro let the stand in work with sis.
You'd think he'd wanna be there for ya lol
In this case I think she's talking about David's photo double, since there are literally two Rodney McKay's in the shots. The Canadian government strictly forbid any efforts to actually clone David Hewlett!
@@GateWorldDotNet Thanks for clarifying that. I didn’t understand it either.
@@GateWorldDotNet But who wouldn't want to watch something with every character played by David?
There's just something about her...
Damn she aged good. Is she a vampire?

I wonder if she hates her brother as much as I do 😂. I'm sure not, his character is one that only a relative can love. I was only able to start tolerating him in the last season. Maybe somewhere in the middle really. I know lots of ppl, for some ungodly reason, enjoyed him.. but I know most ppl thought like I did. He really took away from the other characters ability to take center stage and really shine. I mean I get it, it makes sense. He was a brat selfish self absorbed scientist with a massive ego but it was just too much for me. Just too freaking much.
Who asked?
Even when they started his character like a bratty whiny egomaniac, they certainly developed him the right way. They showed he does have a brave side and can be the heroic figure he always wants to be, they showed why he acted the way he did. That he was actually shy and anxious about his true feelings and how people would react to them, wich is hard if you are really the most intelligent person in a room. It’s good he had the room to develop from there as a character in a series.
