@@stefansteffan1619 There was a comic Back to Destiny that is allegedly canon. Supposedly based on the story ontline planned for the show. I won't go too far into spoilers as they may well adept a version of those events but things can always happen such as Eli finding a way to offset the fairly tiny amount of power his life support draws.
I think Eli used the ancient chair instead. That's how he survived the journey. And also learned so much about Destiny and the ancients that he became a completely different guy when they all woke up. He became Rush and Young and more. He became the new leader of Destiny, by resolving the conflict between the two sides.
@@nautilosad6024 Not a bad premise. I had a similar idea about Dr Franklin, the guy who sat in the chair an allegedly died. This earlier ancient database would be smaller than the one O'Niell had but the upload is probably a lot more primitive and a rougher ride so even if a modern human could handle the info dump better than O'Niell's the upload itself is probably more like getting a pineapple jammed up your nose. A thing like that has gotta make someone twitchy, maybe panicky and running on pure instinct unconsciously accessing ancient knowledge to duck through a service hatch and hide between moments of lucidity when he might approach someone just as we saw what we thought was a "projection" of Franklin on the bridge trying to warn Rush about the superrotation that ended up making the shuttle crash. Only he didn't disappear because he's a projection but a twitchy half-ancient who keeps retreating to the service ducts they don't know are there...
Was so sad when it was cancelled, especially I had submitted all the questions to the cast of the show that was displayed on the website. Wonder what Eli has seen?
I am a huge fan of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis but never got around to watching Universe until just within the last few months. The first season played almost like the stock market up and down up and down and there were points where I was not going to watch the rest of the episodes. But the second season was not only intriguing but held my attention and there were so many possibilities that the show could go that it was very disappointing when all the episodes came to an end. I thought though that the end of the show was very well done, giving it a sort of end but leaving everything open in case the show is ever picked back up
I was hoping they would come in contact with the Ferlings and that they could make some positronic androids for the personalities that are locked away in the computer. Posable reason for the seed ships was to lay a way for them, the Ferlings, to get back to our galaxy.
So cool! Martin Wood has the schematic drawings on his lounge wall for the USS Akron ZRS-4 airship. Huge airship fan! Another amazing Easter egg from stargate and its producers/directors.
I was sooooo angry when SGU got cancelled. We had been promised 3 to 5 seasons. It was sooooo annoying when everyone (including the cast, writes & producers) was told that wouldn’t happen. The thing I remember the most about that time is that people were actually actively calling into the network to get the show canceled just because they didn't like the direction of the show just shows how toxic and so fans are.
Not necessarily. SGU wasn't as successful as an SG1 or SGA. Maybe it was the cast, but I think the show was just too monotonous and boring compared to the old ones.

As someone who very much hated Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe I can agree that going out of your way to cancel something you don't like is incredibly toxic. I well understood the kind of audience SGU was for and that it was intended for something closer to Battlestar Galactica 2.0 fans rather than original SG1 fans and while I wasn't happy about that I understood why it was being done. That being said, I do think the show failed on its own merits. It's ratings and viewership was terrible from the beginning and only ever got worse as time went on and it was incredibly expensive. I am a fan of SG1, and have the DVDs of all the seasons and the same goes for Atlantis. I also watched the pilot of Universe and the second episode. What happens after that? Oh, by the way, I never have liked flashbacks but I do watch reruns.
SGU was doomed to begin with because of a variety of factors: -Salty fans upset about Atlantis already wanted the show to fail out of spite. -Choosing to go dark drama/survival in a traditionally light hearted action/adventure franchise was off putting for some fans. -It was a transitioning time for television because streaming shows online was just getting popular and many studios like Syfy fought tooth and nail against it. If SGU was aired now, I'd say it would have done far better with viewership. I admit the show is a little rough to get into at first but the show and the crew grow on you. I miss SGU.
I'd add the lack of setup in the established series. Major Lorne from SGA was introduced a few seasons before SGA even started in what was otherwise a one-off role in the SG1 ep with the Una's and the Naquada mine. Rodney was established as was Dr Weir even if the actress was switched out. The Lost City was a theme of a full season and change of SG1. There were even more SG1 characters in the first half of the SGA pilot than a lot of actual SG1 episodes had. Especially considering the change of tone they really should've done at least as much to setup the new series within the old. Then we could've got to see characters like Greer and Scott in the background and seen the falling out between Young and Telford if without the full story before Icarus base was set up. All we really got instead was a too obscure throwaway line in SGA about the Odyssey being on a hush-hush mission that turned out to be scouting candidate worlds for Icarus. Even SG1 arguably had more crossover from the theatrical film to the series pilot.

@@dalm312 Iirc they briefly mentioned a planned moon base but not specifically Atlantis I don't think. That would make more sense than leaving it in the Bay Area but not as much as having a seperate moon base where they might park the City on occasion at the far side or something when they don't want to "project force" like the only remaining owner of a fully functional Ancient city ship could.
To bad people weren't initially into Sci fi like today . If stargate was made mid 2015 this show would have had universe, more seasons. I remember a cast member saying atlantis was supposed to leave earth and go on a drift between two galaxies, that would have tied universe as well . But with the new guidelines, the show would have failed due to soft critics etc. Would have been plain like the 100.
Words cannot express how hard I’ve tried to become a fan of SGU. I tried as it was airing. I tried a few years ago. I tried 11 times during 2020. I even tried last Tuesday. That experience has served to remind me just why I love SG-1 and Atlantis so dearly. After so many years of clearly understanding the SG-1 and Atlantis recipes for success, I have no idea what would possess the show runners to create something so radically divergent. In my heart I will always believe that it wasn’t their idea. I will believe, and continue to believe, that it was the direct result of relentless pressure from the Syfy (Sci-Fi) channel.
if the rumors are true the new sg show will be about saving the destiny crew. how they explain the way they look will be neat to see what they come up with. the issue i had with sgu was death wasnt special. it was to common and held no weight (for me) by the end of it.
SGU being cancelled is he worst that has happened to the franchise. Since then, they've struggled to get it off the ground once again, much to all of our chagrin. I really wish Amazon picks it the franchise back up.
It sucked that the franchise as a whole stopped (essentially) but it isnt a surprise it stopped with the space soap opera "who is gonna sleep with who next" show
I was glad to see SGU end, I thought the last show was very well ended. I had stopped watching it maybe 1/2 way into the series and came back after it was cancelled just to see how they tied it up. Nice closure, please don’t bring SGU back. SG1 sure, Atlantis - yep, totally new - depends.
SGU was total crap. They tried to shove a Body Swapping Cheating Political Drama to an audience that is Action Adventure. Of Course it Failed. I cant even watch it.
Mate, SGU was just Gossip Girls but in space. So happy that got cancelled early so that its less likely if we ever got a new show it would be anything like SGU.
On the whole, I thought SGU was a brilliant change of direction, and way more "realistic" than the others, in terms of emotions and vulnerability. The whole saga with the other people gating into the ship was just OTT rubbish. So long for us to find a planet capable of dialing when we had the information from Atlantis... And then they steal the information... They should have continued to focus on internal character development, and the struggles of surviving and living on a super old ship, where they didn't know where they were.
More upset with the Atlantis cancellation tbh but nowadays I fear any beloved IP being greenlit cause we know that they´ll drag modern politics bs in it and I watched Sci-Fi for the Escapism, if I wanted politics I´d just watch my Facebook feed.
I'll never love SGU, but it steadily improved after the first part and I can respect the efforts of the cast and crew (with the exception of the crew who wrote the curse word on the set).
The main issue for most people when it came to this part of the series, was the drama and how long the drama lasted between the crew. I personally think besides this issue with the show, most people would accept and enjoying the show for what it was outside of the drama. As I too agree that it was a great story outside of the drama.
No, it just had everyone sleeping with everyone else and whining about feelings. It was the most soap opera of the series and it did not require the most brain cells at all.
Thank you. Pretty much my exact feelings. Every episode was an exhausting groan of "oh no, nerd boy likes girl but she immediately jumps into bed with jarhead bigshot" "jarhead bland boy had a kid with someone else before and has religious whining" "jarhead has a jarhead buddy with anger issues" "anger Issues and Jarhead has a commander who slept with hot feild medic soldier girl and she is now pregnant" "commander man has a wife at home but while body swaps sleeps with her then original body owner now sleeps with wife" Bleh... make it stop. Friggin Days of our Space Lives...
Has anyone ever thought about to make a Stargate prequel maybe about how the ancients inventing the stargates and bring them to other worlds? Building atlantis? Would be extremely interesting!
they cancelled SG:A (wich had awesome open storylines for atleast 1-2 seasons) for SG:U, make a crap season1 true SG fans didnt want, then make a kinda ok season 2 & get the franchise cancelled..... one of the most aggravating things in TV ! on the other hand , the moment scifi changed the name to syfy it was kinda clear they didnt want to do good science fiction anymore 😒
A shame, SGU was in some ways the best in the franchise imo. I hope there's a chance for some good ending, even if grimdark. I heard about comic books and didn't like what was going on there at all.
for the most part i did like sgu however my main problems with the show was: too much emotional drama shit for characters i don't give a fuck about. there is a good reason why sg1 and star treks leave the emotional drama stuff to later seasons. because in the first 5 seasons you become attached to the characters and care about the emotional stuff more because of that attachment to the character. but when you put that emotional drama shit in season 1 and 2 it is really bad because i don't give a fuck. also it was way to prevelant and used way to much as filler and takes away from the story. there is a reason why star trek and stargate are compared, it's because they both think of a moral problem and try to integrate it into a show within the universe of both of those stories.
I liked the idea of the mythology of Universe, but didn't like the execution. Took waaay too long to give us answers, way too many open endings, the dark and loss of humour set it too much apart from the rest of the SG-1/Atlantis shows. I still watched it coz I wanted to be hopeful it would get somewhere, but didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first 2.
There's a lot of people who didn't like SGU because it wasn't like the rest of the two SG shows. Well ... guys ... it wasn't meant for you. SGU was more like Battlestar Galactica. More drama. Less cringe jokes. I really miss the show.
SGU was total crap. They tried to shove a Body Swapping Cheating Political Drama to an audience that is Action Adventure. Of Course it Failed. I cant even watch it. If you guys stuck to the mythology and the hole mystery and left all of the political crap out of it it would have lasted. We called it back in the day, Battle Gate: Voyager.
SGU was a good story with serious potential. Too bad it was cancelled. Thats the problem with left brained studio execs. No imagination and wasteful of potential. I hope it is restored one day.
SG-U failed because it removed all the good parts that made SG-1 and SG-A good. Then it took all the bad things in SG-1 and SG-A and turned it up to 11. The good parts it removed was the light hearted banter between cast members and the joy of a show that didn't take itself to seriously. What it left in was the political garbage that everyone hated and sowed distrust between cast members. There where no good guys; there where no bad guys, just dark political inspired garbage. Basically the show lost complete touch with its fan base and tried to be a battlestar galactica when nobody watching it wanted battlestar galactica.

👍🏴✌️
That was such a great show with such a horrible ending.
only saw about 5 or 6 episodes of SGU and that was it for my dad and I.
3 executives at SyFy disliked this video.
*I personally didn’t care for **#Universe** that much but it was a very **#SAD** deal of the **#cancellation**.*
Loved the tech and exploration but kind of dark compared to others
if the rumors are true the new sg show will be about saving the destiny crew. how they explain the way they look will be neat to see what they come up with. the issue i had with sgu was death wasnt special. it was to common and held no weight (for me) by the end of it.
Very sad that this show is canceled, it was really the best of the whole license.
I watched SGU all the way through and i genuinely can't remember a thing about it. That says it all
I've rewatched Stargate SG1and Stargate Atlantis multiple times, have not watched SGU since it was aired!
SGU being cancelled is he worst that has happened to the franchise. Since then, they've struggled to get it off the ground once again, much to all of our chagrin. I really wish Amazon picks it the franchise back up.
Sgu was working its way to be my favorite b4 it got canceled
Sgu had a ton of potential. It’s a shame it didn’t last long.
I think I screamed WHY????!!!!! For a week!
I hope sgu returns. It’s just too bad… what a good show
I only watched the pilot episode and only learned about the cancellation over 10 years later. Never got into SGU.
It sucked that the franchise as a whole stopped (essentially) but it isnt a surprise it stopped with the space soap opera "who is gonna sleep with who next" show
And you can't forget that they mocked their future selves in 200.
SGU got such wide range of love and hate. I really was hoping for just 1-2 seasons to come to conclusion. I so badly wanted to know the end.
SGU is my favorite. I requires more brain cell to fully appreciate.
The main issue for most people when it came to this part of the series, was the drama and how long the drama lasted between the crew.
I personally think besides this issue with the show, most people would accept and enjoying the show for what it was outside of the drama.
As I too agree that it was a great story outside of the drama.
Yes I had to watch the time travel one again just to work out the sequence of events.
No, it just had everyone sleeping with everyone else and whining about feelings. It was the most soap opera of the series and it did not require the most brain cells at all.
Indeed.
I love Stargate Stargate Atlantis Stargate Universe was awful
They took the best sci-fi show ever and turned it into a soap opera. Dr.Rush was just an annoying character to create uninteresting drama on the ship.
Thank you. Pretty much my exact feelings.
Every episode was an exhausting groan of "oh no, nerd boy likes girl but she immediately jumps into bed with jarhead bigshot" "jarhead bland boy had a kid with someone else before and has religious whining" "jarhead has a jarhead buddy with anger issues" "anger Issues and Jarhead has a commander who slept with hot feild medic soldier girl and she is now pregnant" "commander man has a wife at home but while body swaps sleeps with her then original body owner now sleeps with wife"
Bleh... make it stop. Friggin Days of our Space Lives...
Heh, I thought Rush and Greer were the only interesting characters.
What really bothered me was "the military is always right" attitude.
Loved the concept but too much drama on the ship.
I heard about comic books and didn't like what was going on there at all.
for the most part i did like sgu however my main problems with the show was:
too much emotional drama shit for characters i don't give a fuck about. there is a good reason why sg1 and star treks leave the emotional drama stuff to later seasons. because in the first 5 seasons you become attached to the characters and care about the emotional stuff more because of that attachment to the character. but when you put that emotional drama shit in season 1 and 2 it is really bad because i don't give a fuck. also it was way to prevelant and used way to much as filler and takes away from the story. there is a reason why star trek and stargate are compared, it's because they both think of a moral problem and try to integrate it into a show within the universe of both of those stories.

It should be finished at least a movie like stargate the ark of truth
I liked the idea of the mythology of Universe, but didn't like the execution. Took waaay too long to give us answers, way too many open endings, the dark and loss of humour set it too much apart from the rest of the SG-1/Atlantis shows. I still watched it coz I wanted to be hopeful it would get somewhere, but didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first 2.
Dumb decisions by dumb executives, when did the fans ever lose interest in STARGATE???
I never could get into that show. Loved SG1 and Atlantis but don't miss Universe at all. Too dark and depressing.
SGU - was a slow build and was just getting going, cancelled by an accountant that had no forecasting skill!
Universe sucked. It was a soap opera in space. I'd have taken a 6th season of Atlantis over that rubbish any day
SGU was a good story with serious potential.
Had enough of this channel, now unsubscribed
