Southwest has come such a long way. I remember flying on SW when I was a kid. We would have to drive 3 hours to the closest SW airport. The planes were ugly but they had club seating in the exit rows. You got all the peanuts you could eat and the flight attendants would sing karaoke on the PA 😂 it was a flying trailer park but good times!
Really enjoyed seeing Herb’s office. I flew from San Antonio one morning and he was on the flight. He got up and served food just like the crew members. He worked the whole flight, thanked folks for flying Southwest, he got it..I was in Key Acct. Sales and sold major accounts. Herb was selling a product a place a price and a great promotion. All these years later I remember him giving me a coke on that early morning flight. We went to gate 1 at Love field, rumor had it that was his personal gate. Ern, thanks for the Memories. I am still loyal to Southwest, you guys are my airline. John
Thank you for all you do!! Southwest has been a great place to work. I hope I get to meet you in person. I watched you before getting hired and still do. Love your new content. Take Care and God bless.
I remember interviewing at that building in 2019 for a pilot spot. Still have the picture of the different liveries, very nice campus. Especially the new leads building y’all have, got to see that when I interviewed the second time in 2021.
Keep doing what you do. Elliott gaining a controlling stance has been fun to watch. They have formed a team of heavy hitters. Got the popcorn and watching this play out.
SW who the heck are they ?? LOL. I was a corporate pilot based at Love field in the late 70’s and there was this small, INTRA state airline named Southwest. I can still see all those billboards, fly for peanuts. I recall talking to some of the newbies flying for SW and they said I should apply. No, not me, I don’t want to fly for some dinky little airline that won’t be around in five years. OPPS! Never said I was smart. Oh yeah, I was also offered a job way back when flying for some pudknocker airline, I think it was called, Federal Express flying Falcon 20’s. Nope not me, I wasn’t a vampire so just flying at night wasn’t for me. Wonder what ever happened to that airline????
I flew SWA out of TPA en route to DEN with what was supposed to be a brief layover in BHM. Unfortunately, we had a bird strike just minutes off the ground leaving TPA that turned our 45 layover into three full hours once we landed in BHM. The airline was gracious enough, however, to hold my connecting flight to PDX. We arrived in PDX safely and about an hour late. Thanks so much for sharing...
Hopefully this week I find out if I passed my background check for Southwest Airlines as an Operations Agent at Omaha Eppley Airfield. I applied in late July, had a video interview shortly after and another one face to face (video) a week after that. A few hours later I was offered the job, accepted it, and got information a few days later to get drug tested and do the background check. After that put in my two weeks once I get a start date. My aviation background (majored in aviation in college airport administration focus) and flying Southwest whenever I travel really stood out to HR and one of the supervisors I will be working with.
Great tour! Herb was on the same flight one day from DAL-HOU. Nice to see the tribute there at HQ. When you scanned the former uniforms I missed the hot pants that the FA’s wore (if they had nice legs). Also you didn’t mention your DAL-MSY-DAL turn was a Max8.
Those models of SW's Special Liveries were cool. I wish there could be a Massachusetts One, but I know that due to what is our flag, it won't happen. I always wondered, since you been a First Officer and now a Captain, do you prefer daytime or nighttime flying?
Hey man, as an extreme SWA fan and someone who knows how to fly 737's (in home simulators), would it be possible to visit HQ and fly in the full motion sims there?
Hey Ern, SWA's HQ was a far cry from what NWO had up at MSP when I first started-different thinking back then-it had limited windows so employees wouldn't watch the planes, it was all about flying and 'spending wisely'.
Hello big ern so question i want to be a pilot for SWA should I go through ATP flight school and become a regional pilot or should I go through the Arizona sun devils college that is partnered with SWA? Or what way did you go?
Herb was absolutely one of a kind. Big props for the shot of his office Ern. For those that care to remember here is a 60 Minutes story from his prime: ruclips.net/video/MyiI8FoJk54/видео.htmlsi=GZj8PTPLwiQkhsLZ
I was one of the new hires that didn’t get to experience going to HQ since I was hired during Covid. Thanks for the tour Big Ern, greatly appreciate it!

Nice tour of the Southwest headquarters. Love Southwest Airlines!💙❤️💛
All those special livery models hanging from the ceiling were really cool. Louisiana One is my favorite.
@@davidcole333 I’m partial to AZ one😁 but I get it👍🏽
My favorite nighttime approach into DAL 💙✈

Do you have that disclaimer at the start because somebody was complaining?
Thanks Ern, looking at BOE Aviation flights you have at least 2 more MAX 8 headed your way soon! Maybe they will send you to pick one up.😊
Wish Southwest would let you guys film more. Especially you. Southwest is my go to airline and would love to see more of what we don’t get to see.
@@jordonmunson8212 I appreciate that. Hopefully more to come👍🏽
Should have come say hi to us in dispatch!
Before you / we know it, Big Ern's mug will be SWA safety video!
@@omarjohnson3411 😁 you don’t want that.
You have probably said this before but what flight software are you using when flying? I use ForeFlight when flying our Cirrus.
Two consecutive videos in two days, BigErn is on a tear...
Seat in the lobby lookin like you're sitting on the plane 🤣
2:29 lol
Flying to Dallas from Phoenix in November I hope I get big Ern as my pilot

I actually painted the office in my new home the NWO colors... that pinkish light gray looked great on the walls :)
Were you abpe to have a beignet while at MSY?
🔥
You and almost Captain Morgan need to make a video together
