This song is one hell of a heartwarmer, but it's also a bit of a tearjerker if you take Yang's life into account. Her mother left her in the cradle. Summer died or was possibly murdered while out on a mission. Now fast forward to the end of Season 3 and probably one of the lowest points Yang's ever been at in her life. Blake, her partner and almost certainly her closest friend, for whom she just recently lost an arm trying to protect, runs off without a word. Not long after that Ruby leaves her behind too, unable to wait for her older sister to recover because there simply isn't time if Mistral's really going to be the next target.
People leave Yang Xiao Long behind. That's something she's learned time and time again. The only person who hasn't left her is her father, who, if the song is to be taken literally, is still keeping the promise to never do so that he made the day she was born.
I hope those people don't show up and say "UM, THIS WAS MADE ABOUT CASEY AND JEFF", because even though it's true, that'd really spoil the mood. Nothing you said here was false, either. I mean, Weiss hasn't left her on purpose... Yeah, I don't think she counts.

Tbh out of the four girls, Yang might be my least favorite. There wasn't much I could personally relate to or get with her. But this comment warmed my heart. I hadn't realize it before, so thank you.
In volume 5 it's revealed that Ruby left because she felt as though Yang didn't want her around since all that Yang did was avoid Ruby and snub her, so Ruby decided to continue the fight against Salem

As a single Dad of a 6 year old, this song makes me cry every time.
From the first day I held my newborn son in my arms, and seeing him grow from the 23 inch long infant into the 4’3” boy he is today, it feels like the time has just flown by. Seeing him learn to walk, to learning to talk, to his first day of school, all the way to this moment right now of him stealing all the covers on my bed.

I just realized, Blake's pretty much the lucky one in Team RWBY when it comes to family. God knows where Ruby's mother Summer is or what happened to her. Yang has abandonment issues thanks to her neglectful mother. Winter is pretty much the only one who cares deeply about Weiss in her otherwise abusive family, consisting of a selfish CEO, an alcoholic mother and a bitchy brother. Blake's mom and dad are still around, perfectly alive and healthy, and loving and caring. Plus her mother already has a son-in-law in mind (she approves of blacksun hehehe), bless the Belladonnas
sun-in-law* but yeah Ghira and Kali are parental goals in this universe.
Brandon Thompson and it really scares me. Since picture perfect families are almost impossible in the world of RWBY who knows what bad things might happen to those two O_O
We know where is Summer. We see Ruby visit her grave both in her trailer and at the beggining of Volume 3. What we don't know is how she died, besides happening "in a mission".
It doesn't change the fact that Ruby's family is incomplete :( and it's been stated Summer just never went back from a mission

I had never listened to the full version of this song before. It showed up on my autoplay list while I was taking a nap on the bus. I bawled my eyes out for the first time in 5 years on a Las Vegas bus at how touching and beautiful this was. It is my dream that I will find someone one day I could sing this to, and mean it.

Qrow's already in Mistral and Raven is apparently there too not to mention team RWBY will be conjoining there and the remaining members of team JNPR are there as well might as well let Tai in the action. LET TAIYANG SHOW UP AND BE BADASS!
I am better that the remainingmembers of team STRQ will all fight at some point with Raven being the only survivor and the Wizard of Oz characters(also known as Glynda, Ironwood, Qrow & Oz) will also all fight but Oz and possibly Glynda living. I think we are going to lose A LOT of people later on because parents/Older siblings/mentors always die in anime.

This song has something that most music misses these days: a heart and soul.
I really like this song. Not just because it’s a nice sad song, but because it hits me really hard, especially with what I thought I was going to go through.
My parents were on the brink of divorce not too long ago and I was going to live with my dad. This song always hit me hard because the parts where it’s saying “ I won’t leave, I won’t go “ is how I feel about my dad. They were able to patch up their relationship, so that’s good. They don’t fight a lot, but one time, after we went to the mall, a misunderstanding happened between my parents that strained their relationship for a few weeks. But I feel for this song because I feel that it understands where I was coming from at the time, even if it was written for Casey by Jeff. It still hits me in the feels when I listen to it but in a good way.

To answer a question that'll probably be asked a couple hundred times on this video, the Volume 4 soundtrack is not out, and there is currently no release date for it. We can probably expect it to drop sometime in May though.

hi, this comment was from 4 years ago and it made me emotional because here we are 4 years later
I feel so bad for Tai. He lost both of his partners and almost lost both of his daughters but luckily he only lost a part of one. He then had to watch yang suffer without being able to help while Ruby left only leaving a short note behind.
I'm guessing the Vol. 4 OST will come late April, since they want to get it out as fast as they can. Or maybe mid April.
