Yes, me too, I only knew RWBY in lasts of 2019 I think, I wish I had known him, His name has always appeared and will always do, in the end of the opening in the episode, I googled him and knew that he died, In 2015 , I knew that people loved him.

Same here, i didn't arrive until V6 premiered, i wish I had known of this incredible man through more than other people's memories.
I started watching RWBY shortly before Volume 3 began. My friend would tell me all about how Monty Oum had created this show and I was hooked from the beginning. He later told me how Monty had died earlier in the year when I asked about potentially meeting him. I didn't know what to think honestly, I couldn't comprehend the weight of this tragedy and how it hit the cast and crew or even fans who had been following RoosterTeeth for longer.
I always hear about him and I love learning more about his work and trying to imagine how his brilliant mind worked. Learning the little things like how he made the map of Remnant from a ketchup stain. Funnier moments like how he punched a lemon into the audience at a panel. I loved learning about this man and his achievements.
I still never felt that weight crash down. The song Cold didn't even strike a note with me about the situation (although it is a great song) and I've always felt awful about it.
But this song made me break down. I could feel the emotions from the entire community through Casey's voice. I could feel the heart and love that was put into the music. I could feel the impact that he had on everyone.
You've rightfully earned all the love and praise that you've been given Monty Oum. Rest in peace.
Same here. Cold made me tear up the first time, but this song absolutely wrecks me every single time I hear it.
You and me are on the same boat. I've always dreamed about meeting Monty one day... but the I found out about his passing and... I got broken inside.
Monty's words were right...: "Your greater dreams is something you will not achieve in your own lifetime."
But Monty didn't say we can't achieve our greater dreams in another lifetime.
Hopefully we can both get our wish someday, but not sooner than we expect it.

This song is a massive example of why, even despite the show being very niche, RWBY hits the fans so hard. Not the show itself really; but the love that it carries from the people who pour their hearts and souls into it. All that stsrted with one man, really. So. Even those who arent involved can truly understand the genuien effect on the world that was losing him.
We love and miss you so much, Monty. Thank you for being who you were, for doing what you loved, and for bringing us all together.

I just noticed. Casey's breathing gets kind of shaky at "I wasn't ready, you can't prepare." This had to have been a tough song for her.

Listen close to the line, "You can't prepare" in this verse. It's subtle, but Casey's voice was wavering. I wouldn't be surprised if she cried in the middle of making this track. A good thing too, it shows how much dedication they put into this, and just how far they're gonna go to finish what Monty started. Even if it's not perfect, they're gonna complete this project or die trying.

I whole heartedly agree with this statement, I understand that the most recent seasons of RWBY aren't perfect but I don't care, roosterteeth is trying their best to continue the project that Monty left them with and that's all we can ask for. Well that and awesome music sung by Casey. And I'm glad you pointed out the fact that get voice wavered slightly, after listening close I heard it and I loved it.

Bro for the longest time I listened to this song and saw Ozpin and Salem, but I never made the connection to Monty until today with the "map fashioned from a stain" line. I'm working on building several of my own universes for novels I'm writing so this now has all the more meaning to me now.

Shamed to say, I didn't even know who he was until I heard of his passing. I barely even knew what Rooster Teeth was at the time. Or RVB. Let alone, RWBY. All I knew is that a good majority of the Internet was grieving over someone. So, it had to have been someone great, or at least well-known. To know that he did so much even before RT. "Haloid" is still one of my favorite animations.
God, I wish I could've met him. Just once.

You know, in 2016 i lost a friend. Everytime i listen to this song (and also Cold and Forever Fall), i think about him. It's kinda hard not to. His name was Miguel. He had a lot in common with Pyrrha, he was the most kind hearted person i had ever met. And the most cheerful too. Like Pyrrha, he left us way too young, being only 18 (or 19, i don't remember) years old at the time. He was also fighting a bitch whose name starts with the letter C (it wasn't Cinder, it was cancer). There are times where it's almost unbearable without him. Like Pyrrha, Miguel kept secrets. He didn't tell us about his fight, he was way too selfless. We only knew when he left, one day after my birthday.
It just never stops hurting. I keep leaving comments like this on videos that reminds me of him, but it's never enough. I don't think it will ever be enough. And i don't know what to do with this feeling that i can't even tell what it is.
There's one part of this song that goes "the goal's not to live forever cause eternity loves the creations of time". And it's beautiful, it truly is. Monty left a legacy that's untouchable, and i'm very grateful to him, since RWBY means a lot to me. But what happens when a person dies.....and they didn't have the TIME to create anything???

I don't know where i was going with this and the paragraphs are not even cohesive, but. In september it's gonna be 4 whole years since i last talked to him. His favorite anime was One Piece and his favorite cartoon was Phineas and Ferb (which was also mine). After his passing, i slowly stopped watching both one piece and phineas and ferb. It hurt way too much. I admire CRWBY a lot, they are so strong for continuing RWBY after Monty passed away. I don't think i have this kind of strength.

Do you know what the difference between a good story and a great story. A good story entertains while a great story not only entertains but imparts a message. This is why RWBY is a great story because it not only entertains but the message the series conveys is the same found in this song that no matter how dark the world may be or how divided it can become "the spirit is indomitable" and with the light that shines we can "keep moving forward".
Indomitable and Let's Just Live really encapsulate the whole core of what RWBY is ultimately about, those two songs are also probably my top favorites due to just being fantastic songs as well as their positive message and themes.

Not gonna lie. The first time I heard this song, I did admit it was sad, but hearing it this time and seeing the lyrics with this fanart, brought me to tears. I never knew about Monty when he was alive, and that's my only regret about RWBY.

The reason that, for all it's faults, I refuse to stop caring about RWBY, is that unlike just about every big franchise out there... It has soul.
It's made with passion, out of love for the man who started it. Everything about it is done trying to make him proud. And that lends itself to a creation that carries far more meaning than anything else out there.
Agreed. Sure it has some flaws, specifically character action/reaction in Vol 6 and 7, but I think the quality and storytelling is picking back up. Maybe not the level of Monty, but I think Crwby is finding their rhythm again. Hopefully they make a full recovery here with Vol 10.

I only got into RWBY last September, but I'll be forever thankful for Monty for his series that inspired me to continue my writing, i wish I could've been a fan back when he was still alive. The moment this song played in the show brought tears to my eyes, especially because someone edited him into the montage Ruby had. He will never be forgotten, not when dozens and dozens of fans create in his name💕

I say this every time I watch the scene where this song is played and it never works, my goddamn allergies always kick it shortly after the scene starts.
What a beautiful and inspiring song this is. Although I haven't watched any of RWBY (at least at the time I'm writing this), that still doesn't take away just how impactful a song this is. Not just as a RWBY song, but as a song in general. Casey, with her vocals - coupled with her father's music and lyrics (I don't know who performed the instrumentation[s]), really knocked it out of the park with this one.
This is without a doubt my favorite RWBY song (even if it makes me bawl every single damn time I listen to it), it's just such a beautiful song and uplifting message, and on top of that really encapsulates the core themes in RWBY too...keep moving forward, no matter how shitty the world might get or feel, press onward, because nothing will ever change or get better if you sit still and do nothing.
The series has very quickly become one of my favorites and will always hold a special little place in my heart.

For the last year, everytime I listen to this it reminds me of the fire captain we lost a year ago this week. All last month we struggled through our first fire prevention without him.He fought tooth and nail to start and build the program well before my time. He ensured the fire board saw the wisdom in funding and implementing the program for years to come, and we'll carry on his legacy.

when i first started to follow rwby i was transfixed by the animation, characters, the weapons, and fight scenes that was all i saw until i saw Monty oum and i heard him talk his messages, his beliefs, his vision it touched my heart and all i wanted was to follow that vision until the end because i thought it wouldn't die then when i found out he died early on i felt my heart break but his baby would live on they wont let it die and that helped me put my heart back together, then i saw the state of the rwby fandom and that it broke it again i thought what are they doing to this mans baby why are they doing it with all the ships and flames and all that straight shaming and queer shaming and just the pure toxicity of it this is not this mans vision i had a dream later after i had this thought it went like this i felt myself fall into a hole one that no matter how much i look down i could not see the bottom all that was there was darkness cold and welcoming until i saw a light shine it burned away the darkness it felt so warm and when the light faded i was laying in a field of roses and i was surrounded by the rwby cast everyone with rwby standing next to Monty they both held out a hand i took it and monty said this" you came this far with us why come a little further" then i woke up thats when i realized we were hand in hand the viewers and the creators and we came this far 6 volumes good times and bad and thats when i made my mind up i brought the ticket and I'll ride the ride I'll continue to follow it chapter after chapter no matter what i'll always just go a little further until the very end if it ever comes i'll it and weather any storm that comes as the characters move forward i will to until the end i hope others share the same sentiment RIP monty you are loved more then you could possibly know and by so many people

is it me or listening to the full soundtrack of rwby is like listening to casey growing up?
like when she started in volume 1, her voice was kinda still childish and she was using her throat rather than her core to push out those stronger notes...now she's got complete control of her voice and it's glorious to listen to (not that it wasn't amazing before)
This song builds to such a beautiful power at the end. Gentle, but resilient. Sad, but hopeful. Even as bleak as things get, there is always a reason to keep going. I was in absolute tears by the end. Thank you, Monty. You live on in all of those who were lucky enough to be gifted with your art. Rest In Peace.
This week has been pretty hard, RWBY ending abruptly(hopefully not for a long time) Akira Toriyama death. But I guess we have to keep moving following the Dreams they created.
Before hearing this song, I was looking forward to it the most due to the powerful scene they used it in in the finale. I had no idea it was gonna be a tribute to Monty Oum and I was NOT prepared for that.

Monty's death was the first time I ever heard about a celebrity dying and felt personally devastated. He will be loved as long as I live.
I don't blame you for having a hard time working on this video. Though I never met him in life, Monty was just an amazing guy and an inspiration to us all. He had so much to share with the world, and though he's gone, I'm sure he would be happy to know he's touched so many lives while he was here.

Fun fact: music majors, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this song ends on an incomplete cadence. In non-music terms, that means it feels open-ended, incomplete, like it's not quite finished. Your mind is expecting another note there, something to tie up the chord and make it sound "done", so to speak.
But it's left open. And I think that's the perfect way to end a song dedicated to Monty's legacy and his dream. Because as long as this song is left incomplete, so is Monty's dream. His dream and his message endure beyond the end of his life, and the message this song shares endures beyond the end of a chord.
It feels like a deliberate nod to say that RWBY is still going strong and growing fast. Monty left us with something incredible, and I like to think he'd be proud of what it's become.

Exactly. Many people say that CRWBY are “shitting on Monty’s grave”, but whether you prefer volume 1-3 or the later volumes, I think he’d be happy to know that even after he’s gone, CRWBY are trying their hardest to continue his legacy. To many people, Monty set a standard for the show that couldn’t be beaten, and I respect that, but regardless I still think it’s great that RoosterTeeth actually care enough to continue his passion project.

i remember when this album came out and i first heard this. i wasn't sure what it was about at first but once i realized it was about monty that was the point where i just freaking lost it. i'm just glad i was listening to this at home and not at work, otherwise people would have been wondering why i suddenly started sobbing.........thank you for everything you did monty
I was never able to tell what the "its map fashioned from a stain" line was from listening to the song, and now for some reason reading it and knowing it has me crying. Definitely #1 song from V6.
