While Wings is indeed a song about Blake, there really is no connection for it be a song from _Yang_ to Blake. Wings is moreso a song from Weiss to Blake.
However, because From Shadows and Wings are both Blake centered songs, it makes sense to reference them in another Blake-centric song
My take away from this song. Yang wants to be mad at blake because she left but she can't be because she came back.

I mean, I guess I'm saying this now with the benefit of having seen where the story went with the next season, but the song is a pretty damn strong indicator for canon Bumbleby imo. The kind of pain Yang is describing here doesn't really sound platonic to me. It sounds like some real romantic shit. She wants to trust Blake, because somehow, when Blake is there, that's all that matters, but she has that lingering worry, "What if she abandons me when I need her again?"
And I think we see that play out over the next season, where her and Blake rebuilding their trust, and Yang's lingering doubts being put to rest as she came to understand that Blake wasn't going to leave her again.

First is being satisfied/acceptance, that it's fine, as long as they're together, it's all ok now

You can just feel Yang's anguish in this song. She's happy to see Blake again, to be partners again. But she's also resigned herself to the fact that Blake may not be there for her again and could hurt her, a part of her doesn't trust Blake anymore.
She may have said that things were good at the end of Volume 5, but Volume 6 is going to be a he'll of a rollercoaster for them.

Everyone is talking like this is a happy bumblebee song but it’s not. Yang has resentment towards Blake for leaving. Blake left her when she need a friend most. Yang was already left by her mother, not once but twice by the point Yang takes the relic up to the team.

Yang’s not sure about Blake as she’s ran away twice now. And according to Ruby, their all together now and that’s all that matters... somehow. Yang doesn’t see it that way. I hope they address that next season, a little one on one time, talk it out, fight it out, whatever is needed. I do ship them but they need to work things out because if Blake keeps running it will do more harm than good as Yang doesn’t like to be left alone. I dare say she’s fine with Ruby leaving without proper goodbye (correct me if I’m wrong).
Back to Blake. Yang wants to help her but she can’t help her if she’s always gone. But with this being the second time Yang doesn’t want to be hurt again because as she states “It’s sad but it’s true that the one thing I can count on is that I can’t count on you”. To Yang, Blake could up and leave again. Yang does say that she will risk it once again but it will just be another chance to damage her pride.
To me this is how I see the song. It’s Yangs frustrations with Blake. Her teammate, her partner that she was paired with. Yeah their team RWBY but they are also split into pairs. RW and BY, and Yang feels she can’t rely on Blake as a partner, at the moment. Like I said they need to work things out and I’ll be a little upset if Miles and Kerry don’t address it in season 6 or 7, as it’s set up for them to do so.
Hopefully my comment isn’t to all over and confusing. If it is I apologize.

You're definitely right, and the way things are going in the show it does seem that that's where we're headed, it looks like just one small thing will break this fragile stability, and I'm honestly looking forward to seeing it and what happens when it does.

My interpretation is that it's Yang's feelings, but she's not exactly certain. Like she's glad Blake is back, and WANTS that to be all that matters. But she constantly remembers Blake leaving twice before, and can't quite convince herself that it really is all that matters.
Alternatively, and much less likely, it's her way of saying that she lost trust in Blake, but Blake has always come back to her, and "perhaps that's all that matters". Basically "I can't trust Blake to not run away again, but at least she always comes back...?"
But yeah, as it is, I really hope they bring it up in season 6 (which I haven't started watching yet). Blake definitely needs to regain Yang's trust, and prove that she won't run away again. Especially not when Yang needs her most.

I mean...Casey Lee is Weiss' singing voice. So why couldn't she be Blake's singing voice too? And if this song is describing how Blake feels when she returns to team RWBY, then we're hearing her and/or yang's thoughts. So to me it's not as important that it's not Blake's voice actor singing because Blake is more of an introverted person and usually keeps her thoughts to herself. The fact that we're hearing Blake's should be enough.
This along with Bmblb is one of my favorite songs in RWBY. Both really defines Blake and Yang’s relationship and I really appreciate it. Way to go.

I doubt it will end badly, although honestly I kind of would like that, Blake left Yang at a bad time in her life, she deserves some consequences for that, and I don't mean whatever happened while she was gone, I mean Yang delivering some consequences.
Leaving for stupidity is even worse in my opinion. At least if Blake left because of Yang it' something they can change, Blake left because she thought Adam would not attack her public team if she wasn't there, while Yang was on the ground and who knows how many other students were hurt in his attack. Yeah that logic holds up. Blake was a moron that left Yang to be killed in the night because she wasn't there to protect and warn her based on what? What possible logic is there?
3 problems with that right away, not even thinking.
1)Abuse victim? When has Adam abused Blake? Look Adam is trash, I don't like him, but show me actual in-story proof he abused Blake, or don't bring it up. If the series does not show us that, then it's not canon.
2)Understandable does not make it any less stupid. If Adam is going to , as he says, take everything she cares about, then he's going to go after her team regardless of her actions, leaving changes nothing.
3)She is not "drawing the abusers focus back at herself" she goes out of her way to AVOID him, she didn't draw any attention, this is just flat out stupid. Adam didn't even know where Blake was until the Fox duo saw her, he wasn't drawing any attention much less Adam's.
nathe123456 Problem with RWBY is that they either are way too vague with the inferences they make, or they just literally tell you that something has happened without any degree of subtlety.
In the show, it's been heavily implied that Adam abused Blake. It's been confirmed (or at least *very, very* heavily implied) by both Adam and Ilia that the two of them were in a relationship (Ilia confirmed that Blake "fell for Adam", and Adam calling Blake "my love" and "my darling" repeatedly when he meets her again).
As for his abusive behaviours towards her, Blake didn't specify whether or not he was violent to *her* when talking to her friends, but she says that he grew increasingly violent in general. We have no flashbacks to be sure, but when Adam sees Blake again? He calls her "my love" and tells her "all I want is you" before proceeding to beat her and then stab her in the gut. Adam abusing Blake previously isn't even subtext at this point; it's just straight up text.
If you want further proof? Adam has literally been described as Blake's "crazy, abusive ex-boyfriend", by Miles, who is one of the main creators of the show.
So, sure, you could argue that Blake was being stupid when she ran. But, like, can we cut her some slack here? She's a seventeen year old girl who just watched a friend get torn apart on live television, was stabbed, was forced to watch her best friend get dismembered so her ex could *prove a point to her*, learnt another of her friends got burnt alive and watched as her city was torn apart by bloodthirsty monsters who feed off fear and human flesh. She's got a running complex - it's been stated over and over again in the show - and this is literally the most emotional duress she's ever been placed under in her entire life. The vast majority of us would be running for the hills, especially if we thought our presence would only make things worse for the people we love.
TLDR: Blake was *definitely* an abuse survivor; shouldn't have ran; but her reasons for doing so are understandable, and the fallacies in her argument wouldn't have been apparent to her when she was under such emotional duress, especially given that her former abuser literally told her that the damage he was inflicting was all because of her.
I can't tell if bumbleby will be canon but i really can't deny that Yang loves Blake, even if it's one sided you can feel she loves her and THAT makes me so sad 💔

Well the ost is non-canon unless RT say otherwise, and they aren't really queerbaiting in the first place. Neither of them have done/said anything to one another that can't be taken as them just being friends at this point anyway.
I have nothing against balcksun belive me I'm bisexual and i like that ship too (because sun it's just too cute) but it's also because i'm bi that i can say those kind of friendships end in something else, Yang told Blake about her mother to make her take a break and go to the dance and she promised to save her a dance, blake actually makes sure to have her first dance with her, blake also compares her with adam (her ex-boyfriend) and it's afraid that yang can change the way adam did, even adam noticed how much blake care for yang just looking at her, yang was crying when she saw him hurting blake, yang said that SHE NEEDED BLAKE!! Well I'm bi for starters, not heterosexual and just because the voice actors like the ship it doesn't suddenly make it canon. Yang and Arryn have both said they're fans of the ship, hence the references to it. And if like you say not making bumblebee canon would be queerbaiting then surely you'd be annoyed if it doesn't happen?
This song just hits hard for me for a lot of reasons... My ex loved RWBY, and fully introduced me to the series and together we'd watch every thing. But one day.. She decided to just up and drop the relationship.. She said she still wanted to be friends, that id mattered too much to her.. Yet.. Her and I havent spoken in months.. I have no harsh feelings towards her.. Since shes always had her personal issues she always felt she had to tackle on her own. I just wish things were different... If you happen to read this.. Just know youre not alone. Ill always care about you no matter what.

Thank you, a sensible bumblebee shipper. Personally i'm not really that into shipping in general, like i don't really watch shows for romantic relationships, nor do i care that much about them. Bumblebee is FAR from canon currently, i'm not saying it couldn't happen in the future, but as of now there next to no evidence confirming it. There are very few RWBY ships that can be considered close to canon, and this is not one of them.

Anybody else think this song isn't JUST a BMBLB song? Its just Yang's abandonment issues! Yeah, the ship is fine, although I find it WAY too one-sided. It's just that most of the lines could easily go to Raven as well. (Minus the shadow and wing reference.) Yang is depressed, (like she's been for the last three seasons.) and taking it out on someone who did something awful. If Ruby, Weiss or Raven did something like that, you could change, like, three words of the song and get a completely new song, with different meanings.
Weiss: It wouldn't mean as much. Song would be kind of bland. But maybe its about how her attitude changes? I don't know.

Like, I'm far from a Bumblebee shipper (please, no hate), but I really hope that their friendship and trust for each other grows throughout this next volume. I honestly don't have a good grasp on what I think is gonna happen, because Blake is sometimes unpredictable. Sometimes she comes through, but most times, she just runs away. I hope to see some more growth from her.

I literally started just crying instead because this is just such a beautiful song and that is all that matters to me- no pun intended-
I love this song surprisingly. I'm usually not a fan of like ballad type songs but this song truly touched my heart in more ways than one.
It describes the agony and almost this form of grudge yang has against blake for leaving. she feels as if she can never understand her no matter how hard she tries. she feels like every time she tries and gets close, blake just disappears again and it has come to a point where yang has solemnly accepted her said agony. She has accepted that blake will continue to hurt her and she has accepted that she cannot be the person to bring blake from out of the shadows like she had attempted to. And despite having so much buried resentment and pain toward blake, someway, somehow, regardless, yang still cant help but feel at peace when blake does finally choose to arrive again. for her at the end of the day, that is all that matters. gosh, I really do love the depth of their friendship. It really does make sense that she'd bear some resentment to blake because heck she has already been left behind before by her own mother. Abandonment isn't something I think yang takes kindly to regardless of reasoning.
i think that is why i don't ship them, aside from me seeing them lack chemistry in that regard, i just honestly love their dynamic as friends way more than any relationship between them could provide.
Kali Milfadonna Is it/Are they queer, though? I've watched all volumes of RWBY and I never felt that vibe from BY. More of a close (now broken) platonic/family-like vibe to me.
That isn't to say that it invalidates what you interpret them to be; I'm sorry if what I said comes off that way.
I might have enjoyed the song more if not for the toxic crazy shippers ("OMG its confirmed canon because they made a song" "the evidence is just so obvious" etc), making it so songs like this makes me think of them. But yeah. as of now in the series, i don't see them being together, if they develop the characters and they have interactions in the future hinting at it, i'm open to the idea, but people forcing "diveristy" or "representing" a community for no reason is just silly, and i couldn't care less about what sex/race/sexual preference a character is, as long as they're a good character.

That song was more about just everything regarding Blake stepping out from the shadows in her own way and stuff with the white fang.

Yeah, "This Time" regardless of who is singing it, is more about the White Fang, and rallying the Faunas against them to achieve equality without violence.

When Yang sings "But that's all that matters somehow". That's probably a reference to the finale when Blake says "Well I'm not going anywhere".
And Ruby says "That's all that matters".

Casey's voice is so versatile and just so good.
Yang should be grateful to Sun. He took her place when she was dealing with her arm. I believe if she never lost a limb she would chase after Blake like Sun did. But what happened to her was too crushing, and I guess in the process it built up some negative feelings. You can't tell me that Yang wouldn't have said the exact same things to Blake that Sun did when he got stabbed by Ilia.

The RWBY Soundtracks are amazing in the change in vibe you can get. There are badass rock-ish tracks like Bad Luck Charm, All Things Must Die, ETC and then on the flip side we have songs like this and Home (and others) that just make you almost cry. It is an emotional rollercoaster.

I know this song is about Yang & Blake, but honestly this song is super relatable. At least to me. There's someone from my past that I haven't seen in almost 10 years. We were best friends, but I wasn't the best person to him, and sometimes he wasn't as reliable as I had hoped.
In the end, he stopped talking to me after he realized he couldn't trust me, and I moved away after breaking my last promise. As close as we were, I didn't notice until after I left that I had feelings for him. I think he always knew, but never reciprocated.
Anyway we haven't spoken since, and it wasn't till I heard this song that I was reminded I miss him. The last I heard he was married to his high school sweetheart. I hope he's happy.

Idk why, but it sounds like Yang is trying to stop falling for Blake. In this song, she expresses how she couldn’t keep Blake out of her past and it all just ended with Blake leaving her when she needed Blake most. Yang sounds like she’s trying to tell herself “It’s not gonna happen. She doesn’t care, she doesn’t even let me try. I should let go...but I can’t...”
Nah. It isn't about romance. It is expressing the fact Yang is hurt very deeply, and is trying to accept Blake back and trust her again. Has nothing to do with ships.

Absolutley beautiful song with a very simple and distinct hook. Definitely one of my favorites. It shows Yang's point of view on Blake's return wonderfully while contradicting it with how sweet and heartwarming the piano sounds.

I cried during this scene so much. Happy tears, of course. It was just so touching when Yang forgave Blake for running, even though she was angry with her before. It truly was a beautiful moment.

Whether or not you ship Yang and Blake, this song really shows the tension between the two characters from Yang's perspective and how she has a hard time trusting Blake, but at the same time, she wants to. I really hope this is played upon in Volume 6.
one thing i noticed back in volume 1 is that blake and yang have each others colours (kinda) in their eyes but i dont really see anyone else mentioning this

This is honestly my end of senior year of high school song, I was the type of girl who never had very close friends because I lost some good friends before, until I met someone else who became very valuable to me, I chose to open myself for the first time to her as i also try to help her break out of her shell since she was shy. I went to college and we never talked again. I knew that true friendships never existed . They just leave like others do, but still, I deeply wish to have someone I can be myself to and be long everlasting friends
