    Brilliant! I always thought it was my bad sewing that caused this. Thank you for sharing this 🥰

    Thank you so much for sharing your favorite things. I had purchased another recommended brand of DST and the smell is overpowering. I placed an order, fingers crossed this works as well for me as it has for you.

    thanks for the info! i really enjoy your videos. I cannot understand why that product costs more than 5 times as much on Amazon Canada .

      As someone who grew up in Australia I understand this frustration with pricing differences!! I used to stock up on things like chapstick & shampoo when I came to the US to visit because it was so much cheaper. 😩 I hope you can find a similar option that is more affordable!

    Firstly, thank you for your videos and tutorials. You explain things so well. Re using double sided tape, seems a brilliant idea but is it ok to use on fabric if you are likely to wash it at some point? I would hate to find it causes a gooey mess or stain.

      Thank you Lynne! To be honest I haven’t tried washing it, I suspect it varies between brands and knowing how this particular tape performs I don’t think it would get gummy, but I am going to experiment and get back to you!

    I use the 1/8 inch tape when sewing on my zippers & don’t have issues with it gumming up my needle, until I turn the fabric to topstitch. Once the fabric is turned to topstitch, my needle is sewing directly through the tape & it causes issues every time. I haven’t figured out how to get around this to keep my needle from gumming up.

      That is so frustrating! What seam allowance are you using when you sew your zippers and what is your top stitching seam allowance? When I sew my zipper I use 5/16-3/8, so if my dst is right up against the fabric edge even after I fold the zipper over to topstitch a 1/8” seam allowance should just miss the dst. My suggestion would be take a slightly wider seam when sewing in your zippers and a slightly narrower top stitching seam allowance and see if that helps. Experimenting with scraps (even zipper scraps!) may help you figure out the best seam allowance for you. I think there is variation with different double sided tape brands too.

      @@OKSew474 thank you for the suggestion. I usually use a 1/4” seam when I sew the zipper & 1/8” for my topstitching. I will experiment with the suggestions you made & see if it helps.

    Does it wash away? If not, can you ever tell that it's there? Wondering about a little crinkling sound.

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  5 месяцев назад

      It does not wash away, but I have never had any trouble with it making noise, the tape is more rubbery than plastic-y after the backing is removed.

    I tried it works good except that it makes my needle sticky

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  6 месяцев назад

      Yes it can, I find this brand to be pretty easy to work with as far as stickiness thankfully. I use the 1/8” so it stays out if the line of stitching for the most part, and clean the needle with an alcohol wipe if it does get sticky.

      @@OKSew474do you top stitch? It would still be sewed over?

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  Месяц назад

      @@valeriehofmann2615not with the 1/8; if I keep it right against the edge of the fabric and use a SA greater than 1/4” and topstitch at 1/8” it will miss the tape. I demonstrate in this video: Sewing With Double Sided Tape - A Closer Look
