The LANDSCAPE BEAUTY that is Joshua Tree National Park

- Mom and I recently took a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park which is located 3 hours 34 minutes away from the city of Las Vegas, NV and the park is located in southeastern California, east of Los Angeles and near Palm Springs (www.nps.gov/jotr/index.htm).
The route we took was through a desert scenic area where it takes you to little towns and close to the Cleghorn Lakes Wilderness Area. The only issue we had getting to the national park was loosing signal on the mobile device. I would recommend to download the map(s) from your smartphone or if you have a traditional navigation system that is not satellite based like what I have in my 2016 Mazda 6 GT it will make the trip less stressful especially since the majority of the paved road you will be traveling is in the middle of nowhere.
There are multiple entrances and we ended up entering through the north entrance station. The park fee is $15.00 to $30.00 and since mom had her the National Parks and Federal Recreational Land Pass senior pass we got in for free so before you go or if you are a senior acquire the card in any state or national park.
Once you get into the park there are multiple locations to hike but be weary though since it is a desert to be watchful of the wildlife especially the snakes that might wander out as the weather gets warmer. Also the park has posted speed limits so be mindful and also be mindful of tourists that visit the park as you will see the tourist run across to other hiking locations.
The park also has areas where you can picnic but make sure that you dispose of the garbage appropriately so the park can maintain its beauty. Also be careful where you pull over to explore as the drop from the paved to dirt road is deep and if you have a sedan like mine even be more careful as the car will scrape. If you aren't into pulling over from the main road in the national park there are numerous locations where you can park your vehicle but those locations on the day we went were crowded.
