- California has the most amusement and theme parks of any state in the United States. The Golden State is home to two Disney parks, the original Universal park, two Six Flags parks, three Cedar Fair parks, a SeaWorld park, a Legoland park, and several independent parks. In this video, I rank the top 15 theme parks in California.

I lived in southern California as a kid and never realized just how blessed I was to have such incredible parks near by. I lived closest to SFMM and Universal Studios Hollywood but my favorite park was Disneyland. I've now visited all of the major parks in California, most of the larger Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks across the country, all of the WDW parks many times, the big Herschend parks, all of the SeaWorld parks and a variety of other parks across the country. But I still have yet to visit a park I like as much as Disneyland in Anaheim. It really is that good.
California is a great state for theme parks.
That sounds so cool. Would you consider visiting Dollywood?
@@SFNena415 I wouldn't just consider going but I've been there as an adult dozens of times. I think it's one of the best parks in the country. I personally rank Dollywood above Cedar Point. And while Disneyland is my overall favorite park, I think that there is arguably no better theme park experience than Dollywood during Christmas.
i been to universal Disneyland Legoland SeaWorld an more its cool Right now i have the pass to go to universal in my world every amusement park has its own world an state of the art god bless usa California
Awesome video!
I predict my top 5 would be:
1. Six Flags Magic Mountain
2. Knott’s Berry Farm
3. California’s Great America
4. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
5. SeaWorld San Diego
Mine is the exact same
That's how I rank the coasters so it makes sense if you prioritize them.
@@CanobieCoaster yeah
@@MrCollerRoaster same
That’s my exact same list!
I haven't been to every park in the state yet, but as a native of Southern California, I realized a while ago just how fortunate my home is in that we have not only one of the world's largest collection of parks in the region, but most certainly the world's best collection of parks. Even if I have my own personal problems with some of them, I can't deny that California is home to truly the most amazing places.
My ranking is
#1 - Disneyland
#2 - Disney California Adventure
#3 - Knott's Berry Farm
#4 - Universal Studios Hollywood
#5 - Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
#6 - Six Flags Magic Mountain
#7 - California's Great America
#8 - Legoland
#9 - Adventure City
#10 - Pacific Park
I have been to SeaWorld San Diego, however I was very little and I only remember going through the underwater tunnel, so I don't feel like I should rank it until I get back.
It's well worth getting back to SeaWorld with all the coaster investment.
Just finished watching the entire video and I can tell you, you caught me off guard with number one!
If you watched my top 25 parks video, you would have seen it coming!
@@CanobieCoaster can you send me a link please? I feel like I need to rewatch it...
@@AirtimeProductions ruclips.net/video/Ne2rrGUOJg4/видео.html
love to see disneyland at 1! I completely agree with that opinion. good list!
Thanks!
Disneyland is my #1 too. It's great to see a fellow coaster enthusiast who also loves dark rides and park theming as much as I do. :)
Agreed!
I’m kinda surprised SFNM even made it that high, probably cuz it feels like everyone gives SF so much unnecessary hate
The coaster lineup carries it. The operations are nuisances, not dealbreakers.
I just bought a season pass for the first time for six flags, it’s crazy to hear ppl tak about the technicalities in these rides so much fun!!
Nice!
Great video and list 👍
Thanks!
Alternate title: Top 10 Amusement parks in California +5 Amusement parks you've never heard of
Lol
Haha I operate Ninjago the Ride at Legoland. Glad you enjoy the park!
It's a charming park for kids.
Yay, a new canobie coasters video
Enjoy!
Six Flags Magic Mountain has only 1 coaster
The other 18: Ight imma head out ✌️
The numbers on the side denote their rank relative to the other CA parks. So Magic Mountain is number 1 for coasters.
@@CanobieCoaster oh
Great video dude. I'm planning roller coaster tour once covid over. Thanks for the tips. Any tickets bundles that you know of to save some money?
Buy a Six Flags season pass if you intend to visit multiple Six Flags parks or multiple days at each park. For the others, I use Tickets at Work a lot.
@@CanobieCoaster so a six flag season pass can get me into other six flags
ive been waiting for great america to open for soooo longggg
I'm hoping to get back there this year
I am considering going to California this summer!
Enjoy!
one of my crazy dreams to do before i die is to go to california to all the theme parks even if it means running out of money and no way to get back home
I hope you can have your bucket list trip.
Sounds like a great plan!
My home state. I have been to all of the parks you listed other than Oakland Zoo and I have been to Gilroy Gardens which would rank high in atmosphere. I'm not the biggest disney fan, so my Top 3 are easily: 1. Six Flags Magic Mountain 2. Knott's 3. California's Great America After that it would depend on my mood and what events are going on in the park.
I'll have to make it to Gilroy Gardens some day. It really looks beautiful.
@@CanobieCoaster QuickSilver Express is also one of the better mine trains I have been on. The park is really nice looking.
1. Universal studios
2. Six flags magic mountain
3. California adventure
4. Disneyland
5. Knotts berry farm
I love coasters but the overall vibe is what I take into account most. Universal is underrated and keeps improving. Disneyland is going downhill.
Disneyland is still my favorite. Universal was cool for HHN.
I want play of all of that ❤❤😍
Amasing vedio
Thanks!
Favorite for me of course is Disneyland. Also love Knotts and Magic Mountain.
SoCal is loaded.
I know there’s probably a lot more parks there but one of these for Florida would be really cool
I'd welcome more.
Have you been to Castle Park in La Sierra (near Riverside)? It was built by Bud Hurlbut who built the Calico Mine Ride and Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott's Berry Farm. Easily and often forgotten park in the LA area, but one I hope to visit on my next trip to SFMM, et al.
I haven't been there yet. It's hard for me to justify the drive when I can instead spend time at the other SoCal parks.
My list.
1.six flags magic mountain
2.knotts berry farm
3.californias great America
4. Six flags discovery kingdom
5.sea world San Diego
Have you not been to Disneyland?
Yes I have and I rank all of these above it
@@CanobieCoaster i have been to Disneyland as well and for me it's not even close
For me Magic Mountain is #1
Fair!
Took me a while to realize that Castle Park wasn't going to be on the list...
It's a small park and I've never been there.
@@CanobieCoaster ah
Every time I've been to SFDK I've had a really great time, shame you've had bad luck with operations there. To be fair, I personally had a pretty bad time at CGA, but everyone else seems to really like that park. Guess it depends on the day for a lot of these parks!
Also, Knott's is easily my favorite park in California, especially if you factor in price.
I'll have to give Discovery Kingdom another chance, but my two most recent visits had the same issues.
Disney's California Adventure is my favorite followed by Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, SeaWorld San Diego, Knott's Berry Farm and Legoland. I didn't visit Universal Studios Hollywood yet because I didn't feel 2014 was the best time to visit considering their version of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was still under construction but I plan to visit next time I come to this state. I also plan to visit California's Great America and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on a separate trip to Northern California as well but I desperately wish that this state wasn't so huge sometime as it would've been fantastic to visit those parks on the same trip as well.
Northern California is a great trip for both Six Flags and Discovery Kingdom, but you also have Santa Cruz and my favorite city in America in San Francisco.
@@CanobieCoaster Of course I plan on visiting San Francisco but I am not sure about Santa Cruz. It looks fun and I have an interest in visiting there to but I am not sure I can convince my mother ro drive down there. I also have an interest in visiting Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Concord and the new Great Wilf Lodge in Manteca. I'll be lucky if I can at least convince her to go to one of those places.
I went to Hurricane Harbor back when it was Waterworld. It was a decent water park, but I'd prioritize the other parks up that way.
@@CanobieCoaster Perhaps. I am still contemplating which waterparks in the state are worth visiting. I am hpoing TUBERIDES will get there when this pandemic is over. Their "ALL SLIDES" videos help me determine where I want to go.
@@mitchellries256 That is the only water park I visited in California since I was nearby for an internship.
California (towards los angeles) is a magical place with other magical places inside, these amusement parks in fact
There are so many great ones down there.
@@CanobieCoaster exactly 💜
I take it you haven’t been to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo?
Also, you’ve gotta come check out Gilroy Gardens someday! It’s one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever been to and a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass gets you in!
I haven't been to Happy Hollow. I want to visit Gilroy Gardens. When I was in NorCal for a co-op, that park was impossible to get to with public transit (for reference, I used 4 hours of bikes, buses, and trains each way for Discovery Kingdom). And last time I was in San Francisco, they were closed for the winter.
@@CanobieCoaster You should be able to take a water shuttle all the way from San Francisco to Discovery Kingdom.
Interesting, just curious did you include Oakland zoo just because it has a roller coaster? I’ve never been myself but I feel like if you’re going to include a zoo I’m surprised neither of the 2 zoos in San Diego made the list. Just curious
Oakland Zoo has only a few rides. Not nearly as much as the state's other parks.
Okay, so knotts does have A LOT more coaster then you listed, (this is not an insult I'm just pointing out some stuff...) RED THE VERY BOTTOM FIRST
Ghostrider
Hang time
Silver bullet
Xcellerator (I spelt that wrong)
Jaguar
Timberline twister
Sierra sidewinder
Coast rider
Pony express
And there are A LOT more non coasters aswell,
Literally camp snoopy
Surfside gliders
Sol spin
LA revolution
Supreme Scream
Knotts berry tales: return to the fair
Iron voyage (the OG dark ride) (closed)
Big foot rapids
Note: some of the names of the rides I listed are wrong
Oh wait, I am the dumbest person on the planet
I only could name so much in a short section on each park.
@@CanobieCoaster ah, that makes sense but again I AM THE DUMBEST HUMAN ON EARTH
haven’t been to most of these but here’s my list for the places i have been!
1. sea world: i just love the coasters and i’m an animal lover so i love being their. so unfortunate the animals are mistreated, but i do love the rides!
2. buena park: i love the beach blaster frisbee! it’s my absolute favorite and i overall love the atmosphere!
3. universal: the rides are fun, but they don’t have many so i wish there was more because it honestly is a fun place.
4. lego land: fun place and rides are exciting!
5. disney: don’t really remember because it was a while ago. rides are fun, but the lines and price kill me.
Definitely a much different list than mine but everyone has different things they look for.
Heading to LA for the first time. Would you rather spend 3 days Disneyland and California adventure or 2 days at Disney and one day Universal? Thanks, love all the videos!
Have you been to the Florida Universal parks. If so and you want a 3rd day at a different park, I recommend either Knott's or Magic Mountain over Universal.
@@CanobieCoaster Spending two days at Magic Mountain and 1 day at Knotts. Was thinking of those final three days and thinking if it is worth spending 3 days at Disney to get everything done or two days Disney and one day at universal. Have been to universal at Florida and nothing overally appeals to me at Hollywood. Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Ha! It depends. Keep in my that Disney is designed for kids, tho a lot of fun for adults too. The place is magical. Universal Studios and Six flags are mor for adults. If you are visiting outside of the state or maybe from Europe and you travel without kids I would do 1 day at Disneyland, 1 at universal and 1 Six Flags. Keep in mind tho that doing 3 theme parks can be pretty intense.
I'm not sure if I agree; you'd know better than me about these parks overall. I'm just a coaster enthusiast, but thanks for your thoughts.
Everyone values different things in parks so I wouldn't expect lists to match.
I think Magic Mountain is number one in my opnion because of how intense the rides are and how good the parks roller coasters are.
It's the state's best thrill park for sure.
Parks I have been to #1 Disneyland Anaheim #2 Gilroy Gardens SJ*san Jose*
#3 Universal studios Hollywood #4 Lego Land #5 Seaworld #6 Pacific park *I did not went on the rides * Santa Monica pier is the one My family decided to go
Same number 1.
If anyone on here has the opportunity to go to Belmont Park in mission beach in San Diego. I would suggest trying a bar/restaurant called Sandbar. The food there is bomb! They have an award winning taco style that you have to try and they have some of the best wings in San Diego in my opinion.
Good recommendation!
🎉Wait?! Belmont park has 13 coasters? That can't be true.
The ranking isn't the number of rides. It's their placement. So Belmont Park is the 13th best park in CA for coasters.
@@CanobieCoaster Ah! I thought that was an astounding number of coasters for a park like Belmont. 😄
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is top 3 in the state, maybe my favorite
I need to get back there.
i only been to seaworld san Diego belmont park , legoland, disney lands and knotss berry farm
Nice!
My school goes to sea world San Diego for a field trip. I heard a rumor that 1 kid managed to get on a coaster during the field trip
Are you only supposed to do the animal exhibits?
bro if your only able to do the animal exhibits at sea world they crazy. I mean I'm not saying learning about the animals is bad but if that's all you do at the place then just go to a aquarium instead of Sea World
Technically Legoland Billund in Denmark is the original Legoland park, as it was the first to open in 1968. Though Legoland California is the original for America if that's what you meant.
Sorry, yeah I meant the original American one.
Marine World, Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, Great America, Magic Mountain, Waterworld, also scandia, boomers, funworks etc.
I kept water parks off but Waterworld was a decent water park.
Great America amusement Park CA
Chris beach boardwalk before and it looks way different year this was back in it all day I guess because in the new days which is my days it looks way different especially the giant dipper
I want to get back there.
DISNEYLAND MY FAVORITE! IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome park!
@@CanobieCoaster Ive been there 2 times in feb 2022 and june 2022!
Can you do one for Florida?
I plan to! I want to get a return trip to get more video footage before doing it.
I thought Knott’s would’ve beat out California Adventure
I love the Disneyland Resort.
In my opinion, Disney parks are supreme, followed by Knotts and Magic Mountain
I love the Disney ones.
What coaster should California get next?
I'd love to see Great America finally get that B&M hyper.
*SFMM NEEDS THAT GIGA, BE IT B&M OR INTAMIN!!!!!*
A B&M Dive coaster for six flags discovery kingdom
My home park is Cailfornia’s Great American
Sorry that it will be closing.

9th favorite shape
Triangle
I have not been to ever park in California, the majority I’ve listed here are from Southern California.
9: Pacific Park- fun place to go to. I especially like West Coaster, the dragon swing, and drop tower. The Mary go round is classic and the Ferris wheel is unique because of its use of solar power.
8: Belmont Park- another classy boardwalk with cool rides. The Giant Dipper is shakey but not painful. The others rides are cool too. One that I would like to point out is that they have two different versions of the bumper cars and the one I enjoy is the one with the dance theme.
7: Legoland California- I have not been to this park in a long while so my opinion might be outdated. It’s a cool place for kids but not much else for an older audience. A few rides that I enjoy are The Dragon, Lost Kingdom Adventure shooting dark ride, the fairytale tale book boat ride, the safari Jeep ride, the wild mouse coaster, (my favorite version of the wild mouse model) and many more great rides.
6: Seaworld San Diego- this is a great seaworld Park. It has a very good collection of rides. The roller coasters are really fun too. This is a park has a great variety of shows too. The Electric Ocean summer event gives a great nighttime party vibe to the whole park.
5: Disney California Adventure- This is a small park but with iconic rides and great lands! The whole place has a fun vibe and Cars land brings major 2000’s nostalgia of being a kid watching Cars. Beuna Vista Street is another great entrance land too.
4: Knotts Berry Farm- this park’s got it all. You got amazing roller Coasters, cool dark rides, Stellar themed lands. This is a great park with great fun. Knotts Scary Farm is true to its name and it’s basically if the spirit of Halloween made there own theme park.
3: Universal Studios Hollywood- this is a Park that surprise me a lot. The fact that they managed to build a theme park on a movie studio is already impressive. The Studio Tour is an iconic attraction and makes up for how small this park is. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a great themed land. I also really like the rides at this park as motion simulators are my second favorite type of ride.
2: Six Flags Magic Mountain- this is another park that really surprised me. For one it’s iconic for having the record for most roller coasters in a park. It almost has double the amount of roller coasters that Knotts Berry Farm has. Roller coasters are my favorite type of ride so it really is the main reason as to why I enjoy it so much. Other than roller coasters it gas great rides too such as Justice League Battle For Metropolis which is a fine dark ride and Crazanity which is a crazy flat ride. One more thing I want to mention is the Holiday in the Park event. It has a great holiday vibe and so many Christmas lights that create an amazing atmosphere.
1: Disneyland- If Disney California Adventure is the dinner than Disneyland is the dessert. This park has everything to offer for everyone who comes. Disneyland is your land so they did not forget about you when you visit this park. This park has something for everyone weather if you want to ride a roller coasters, a thrilling dark ride, or a relaxing family ride they are there for you to do. This park also has great theme lands and a great entrance land. One thing that I like about Disneyland is there holiday overlays on rides. Other parks do this too but Disneyland does this well were they are a lot more well known.
That’s my list of the California park’s that I’ve been too. Truly each one on this list has something special to them but I do sometimes wish that they can be a lot less expensive but it is what it is.
The SoCal parks are definitely pricey. There's no denying that. But considering the crowds they pull, I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Best theme parks
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Disneyland/Disneyworld
Legoland
Universal Studios
California Great America

That's a surprising number one!
I mean you've been on over 1,000 coasters, so it shocked me that you had disneyland at #1. I thought you'd have knott's at one, but I was wrong. Kinda disagree with it, but respect everything else
