  • Here's a closer look at the Naturehike Rock 40l +5. It's a lightweight backpack with many great extra features including bottle holder, rain cover and frame. I compare it to a similar rucksack with some key differences which is the 3ful Gear Qidian Pro. This bag is frameless and has a few pros and cons over the Naturehike.

    I have a naturehike 40 bag. I used it on a 2000 km hike with a bivouac in a tent and 6.5 kg on my back, including water and food. It's a great bag. I have no use for the rain cover. I added a chest strap. I cut all the excess straps and lightened the bag to 800g. It's an excellent bag, especially for 67€ delivered!

    Hi, I bought Naturehike Rock 40, the fabric is strong, the volume is great for me, but it weighed almost 1200 g. I had a chest brace included.The frame creaks if you load at least 5-7 kg and it's unpleasant to listen to it creak all the way. I cut inside, took out the frame, inserted instead a rigid foam measuring 25 * 35 cm. I came to this place with a Velcro tape, now you can get it. And the weight dropped to 1050g including the case. I cut off the long slings a little.Now this backpack suits me.

      Hi! What's the torso length of this pack?

  • @camping_guru_uk
    @camping_guru_uk 7 месяцев назад +1

    Just a quick one, at the start you mention a compression strap to cinch in the sack. Those straps actually connect down the side to the roll top clips. The thin elastic down each side will cinch / compress the bag if you need to do that. It's the same on the 60l+5l.

    Hi. Could you measure all the lenght of the 40 liters from the bottom to.the top leaving the top roll open at maximum length? Thanks :)

    • @MrWildWales
      @MrWildWales  14 дней назад

      Unfortunately I cannot but it is way bigger than 40 litres unrolled perhaps 60-70. You don't want to pack too much in these ultralight type bags though or risk them breaking

    Mad watching that. I noticed the lack of chest strap and you addressed it. All the way through I was thinking it was copying the 3FUL bag you recommended to me in the past and you mentioned that too. Great minds and all that lol

      It's pretty similar to the other one ha I was reading your mind then

    I do like a chest strap and the waterproof cover is a nice touch. But here's a question, if they can make a waterproof tent without having to put a waterproof cover over it, why can't they do that with a rucksack? I don't get it... 🤔😁

    • @MrWildWales
      @MrWildWales  2 года назад

      That's true. They do make them with waterproof material but it could easily get in the seams... You've given me a idea now ha get the seam sealer out

      Mountain Hardwear used to make a roll top waterproof pack series called the scrambler 35/40 RT. Rab do a 28l roll top waterproof pack called the aeon ultra.

      @@trooperwolfie yeah I've got a couple of PVC dry bag rucksacks, and they're great but not light. It just fascinates me that most others are not made waterproof.

    • @trooperwolfie
      @trooperwolfie Год назад +2

      @@MoreThanJustaCleaner the Rab and mountain Hardwear ones are lightweight, the Rab has taped seams whereas the mh is lined with an outdry membrane. I think the main reason is cost, it's costs a lot more to add an outdry membrane as the manufacturer needs a license and the very expensive chambers and machinery.

    I watched this video because I am considering the Naturehike and I thought you'd let me know whether or not your were happy with it. What I found is that you are "chaffed" with it. I have no idea what that means. I'm still lost.

      😆 A welsh term which means very happy. To be honest I'd go for the 3ful over the naturehike though
