@@cassandrahoward8325 Tape may not be an option since the rifle barrel and dart are a very closely matched size but perhaps some fluorescent paint would work. yes, animals are capable of amazing healing from bad injuriy. I had a cat that got in a fight and came home with one eyeball hanging outof the socket. i washed, ie flooded the eye, actualy both eyes.. liberally with boric acid eyewash, There was no way I could put a a dressing that would stay on over the eye. IDK what the cat did or did not do to put the eyeball back in place.. I was afraid of doing more harm than good if I tried to handle the eyeball. .
The dart gun is an excellant solution for medicating animals with minimal stress. In some cases inlarge herds of cattle on free range or remote summer grazes, they are even used to administer routine vaccinations in young animals. As a retired large animal veteriarian, I have a few bits of advice: #1 Inflamation in the eye tends to appear as cloudiness ranging to complete opacity. In other tissues it might be more like redness or even bruising while in the eye white. The second thing in using darts. I've found that using a bit of petroleum jelly on the end of the needle keeps medication from potentiially leaking before administering and does not interfere with absorbtion of any medication. Good luck. as
