This is my first viewing, too! Wow! Seeing your tears for the one that died,shows how kind caring you are. Then, God sent you the gift of seeing those little hooves sticking out as you were driving by! We watched anxiously with you, praying for a good birth. It was worrying, watching time ticking by, wondering if the calf was inside too long.Poor Peaches kept walking & laying down & getting up. So great to finally see the calf completely out, but was stunned the calf wasn’t moving! Finally, it kicked its leg s & Peaches began the clean up. Thank goodness you were able to get close enough after the drone battery died. Uplifting new life! So sad about Belle State’s calf. Hope she’ll be okay. Glad you had a good birth following so closely to the unfortunate one. Thank you for letting us all share this with you! Take care & God bless you!🙏🏼💕

I was so worried
It just never gets old seeing the miracle of life. Watching a mother’s instincts giving birth and cleaning it up and the newborn immediately trying to stand up and nurse right away.

Lol, if it makes you women feel better, it is normal to push right along with her. As a nurse in L & R, I have almost pasted out before! Telling mom to take a deep breath, blow it out and P…u…s…h! Then I would realize I was holding my breath and pushing. It took me almost 6 months to stop doing that.
I was pushing too, and my heart was flooded with joy when the red dog started to move finally!❤

Wow, Peaches is giving her newborn a bath and carefully using her foot to turn the little body on its back and from side to side. What a sweet and sudden turn of events. Poor Dusty barely had time to take in the loss of Bele Starr’s calf before Peaches presented him with a sweet consolation surprise..What a day! And what a privilege to see the first ever red dog birth recorded live.. on the Ponderosa. Thank you Dusty and Congratulations. ❤

Poor Belle Star, my heart hurts for her. It just amazes me that these majestic animals have feelings like we do. I was holding breath while Peaches was giving birth. I actually think I even pushed for her a couple of times. Thank you Dusty for these amazing videos. I am so sorry for the loss of the baby red dog.
To hear your input and silently cheering for Peaches was so awesome. This is better than any sitcom. I now have a new respect for Bison and lots of respect and love for you and those who care for them.

What a mixed bag of emotions. Losing Belle Star’s calf, to turn around and within a very short period of time to actually watching Peaches have her little calf. I was also “holding my breath”until I saw the baby moving! Glad you finally got to see it for yourself, Dusty!

As an delivery nurse I quickly learned a watched pot never boils. Pre delivery is nothing but nerves and excitement

I’m so happy for Peaches. It’s awesome to see a bison birth. Its really something to see how the other bison all stay close by as well as Big Joe checking in. It’s very interesting to watch. It’s watching a new life after losing one that makes us appreciate life more. I feel so bad for Belle Star. Hopefully she is able to find joy again. Praying for all your bison

Thank you for following up with this positive report. Yesterday's report of the death of that calf was heartbreaking. Life for most of us breathing on this planet is not easy. We have to be THANKFUL for every positive thing that happens. Blessings, Grace and Peace to you and your family and team. Loved seeing the reasons for dividing the two herds of bison females. Very educational and real world !
It's heartbreaking to see Belle Star mourning for her calf. Nature can be brutal but then Peaches has her healthy looking calf and life goes on. Keep on keepin on ♥️♥️♥️

Such a powerful animal and being able to witness the gentleness of a cow with her new calf is such a blessing!
I was on pins and needles watching the delivery! It's amazing to see how gently she used her hoof to encourage it to stand and nurse. She's such a good mama. ❤ FYI, walking and/or other physical activity is great for bringing on labor in people and animals. I speak from personal experience. 😁

It’s important to see that as big and strong as Bison are sometimes difficult things happen and the outcome is tremendously sad not just for us but Belle Star and she has feelings and emotions and also goes through grieving. Wonderful footage of Peaches birthing and seeing how she cares for her little one, even moving it so she could lick everything dry. So sorry for your loss and also congrats on Peaches baby. I'm so sorry for the loss of Belle Star's calf. What a roller coaster of emotions for you. But what a sweet reward from Peaches. What a great mom she is. She took no time getting to her baby and was so gentle with her pawing. I've seen quite a few hooved babies born and moms can be very aggressive. This birth was beautiful to watch. Thank you for sharing.
I know the happiness and the heartache because we raise cattle. Last year, we lost a calf to a mountain lion, and it was an eye opener to see how the cow, as well as the entire herd, reacted. We don't give these animals enough credit. They are much more intuitive than we think.

Watching Peaches struggle to birth was scary after Belle Star lost her new baby. I'm glad you finally caught one of your heifers in birthing. It isn't as easy on them as you thought, those red dogs don't hit the ground running, but close. Congrats to CTB and the herd has another red dog.
