Dead ass, Myke is right about that. Admitting to his sinful ways, how Satan may have influenced him and his ways. But that is going to require Kanye to be unapologetically honest. Which he is too delusional to admit or even maybe capable of doing that. Which is too bad to realize, considering how he has been behaving these last few years

@@Moneyman-33 kanye just slapped a veneer of religiosity onto a mediocre and rushed album. Kendrick Lamar can rap about religion for an entire album, have it be one of the best albums of all time, and also be realer and more Christian than Kanye, all while rapping about Satan. Kanye can't just rap vapid shit like "Jesus is King" and expect that to come anywhere close to "Sing about me/Dying of Thirst" in the eyes of anyone but the most devout fans of pure gospel music, and people who don't even like rap but support kanye because he says positive things about donald trump and republicans.
Ethan Noams I guess you missed the point of DAMN. then. He’s openly stating he thinks Jesus Christ and his disciples were all black people and that white people lie and say he was white. But don’t get me wrong I respected Kendrick’s attempt at mending gang violence with his music. I just feel like he’s giving up on it cause it didn’t work. Jesus was likely a middle eastern brown skinned man. Nobody who is white I’ve ever met even cares about Jesus’ skin tone was. He’s always depicted as a light skinned person but not white or European. Ironically I’ve only ever heard black people care about what his skin color is. They want him to be their skin color. Personally i don’t care. I think the message has always been the point. Kanye didn’t just slap Jesus’ name on an album at all. He’s been working on this idea for YEARS and it’s really frustrating when people lie or don’t understand this and then talk about his work of music like it’s random and out of nowhere. Have you listened to Kanye in interviews at all? And actually tried to understand what he’s saying instead of trashing on him? And about the “support him cause he likes Trump thing”... ain’t nobody buying his album cause he likes Trump man. Most republicans don’t even like hip hop music in general so idk why they would start just cause Kanye likes Trump. They don’t like the music that’s not gunna change. They might like his opinions but that doesn’t make the music any better to their ears.
@@Moneyman-33 No idea why you're talking about black jesus or why you're talking about DAMN when GKMC was the album I was referencing, or if what you're saying is even true. Does Kanye talk about black jesus at all on "Jesus is King", or was that all Kendrick? What, if anything, did Kanye say on this album that you think is important or powerful? He has absolutely not been working on this album for years. "Most republicans don’t even like hip hop music in general", and kanye didn't make a hip hop album. Kanye made a gospel record for his republican buddies he's been cosying up to the last few years; Steven Crowder was singing his praises on social media for example. Republicans don't just dislike hip hop because it's in their blood or their ears work differently than Democrats btw, they hate it because it's associated with leftist attitudes that say things like "fight the power" and "fuck the police"; if Kanye rapped about how he likes Trump than there would be tons of republicans buying his records, which you can see happening with Jesus is King, if you paid attention.
Ethan Noams What do you care if Steven Crowder praises Kanye’s album? Why is that relevant? He’s a conservative talk show host. You’re acting like George Bush and his voting base is gunna listen to Rap music just cause Kanye likes Trump. That’s whats dumb. And if we gunna get into a talk about politics that’s gunna dilute the conversation unless that’s the direction you want. And Kendrick’s black Jesus thing is relevant cause you’re talking about how you value Kendrick’s religious art or take it more seriously than Kanye. If we’re being honest they both fairly big sinners and that’s why them (if they’re being genuine) using Christianity as a message could be really positive for the culture. And to say Kanye hasn’t been working on this record for years... bruh.... the name of the album is something he has mentioned for at least 5 years.... on top of him working with gospel samples and themes in his body of work his whole life basically. It’s always been a speck of inspiration for him and in his age Kanye seems to be heavily gravitating towards the spiritual. I’ll be the first to bite my words if in a year he’s turning his back on this my guy. But I’ve always been a fairly good judge of character and when someone is genuine which is why I never liked Kanye before I was listening to MBDTF (His ego trip shit always just made me not interested in listening to begin with) and find the “this album is only for Stans” mentality retarded. I’m 99.9% certain he’s legit about everything and he’s really trying to change the culture. Especially since he supports Trump without shame. No one else will. That’s a problem. None of these celebs who hate Trump even know what they’re talking about and their fans who take the celebrities seriously are even dumber. It’s like a stupidity contest.

@Jackson Gilmore No I'm not talking about online critics I'm talking about actual people. Not going to lie almost every person I know and hear widely say MBDTF is his best work. I personally think so aswell. You can never rank Kanye's albums however I found it idiotic to say he isn't on the same level sonically or lyrically than his first 3. I mean power, devil in a new dress, so appalled and gorgeous are some tracks that Kanye shows very good lyrical ability.
opened with a classic fucking line. Feefo - "i prefer the old kanye,i still have the old kanye in my library" Ken - "you prefer the old testament?" already a classic episode just for that
When i think Kanye and gospel inspired i think of Ultralight Beam which i personally absolutely love, thats my standard...non of these tracks come close to that. Non religious Kanye has literally already made much better gospel inspired music than trying to be religious Kanye

Myke is right on the Kanye stans. I also feel that he’s right about people looking at this as a marketing tool rather than an actual Christian album. Or it could be one of Kanye’s episodes, which of it is, then Kanye definitely needs help.
Anirudh Pai What marketing tool? To sell what? All u idiots sound the same. Who cares about album sales when you have a product “Yeezy’s” that sells itself..
"Chi state of mind Lost my momma Lost my mind..." this is 2004.... off of his own album. Although not his verse, this crucial piece actually played into his life. I always thought from the moment of his mother's death, that his mental state was going in a downward spiral. About the album... *sigh* I was expecting a Christian rap album, but I thought he would've been more vulnerable. This has so many hints of pretentiousness in it, I genuinely feel off. Kanye made "Jesus Walks", he made "Ultralight Beam", so I expected WAY more from Kanye than this. The only two reasons why no one will call this a pretentious attempt is because for one... it's Kanye, and two, it's not all the way, terrible. It's pleasing to the ear and you have someone talking about God. It's inoffensive. But some of these lines are contradictory as hell. "This ain't bout a damn religion..." that line alone. Why continue to brand yourself as a newborn Christian? Or a Christian convert? *sigh* Kanye man.... what happened to you? If he's sincere, I'm happy for you. But I can't get behind this....
If he only goes indepth personally with all of his trial and tribulations and the darkest time during his late mothers death and how it affected his musical craft he passionately adore through out his career in his lyrics would be a great for his story lines in his album but we will wait till he grasp his inner soul to breakout of what he is depressed within.
"He latched on to the church thinking, okay this can save me" two things about that: 1.) That is the core philosophy of the Christian Church. Individual redemption is not possible, you can only be saved through Jesus Christ. 2.) Kanye has been Christian and talked about it in his music his whole life. If anything this a return to his roots
Robert lemiesz Yeah. That comment felt like a slap in the face to me, as a guy who knows addicts & former jail birds who turned their life over to Christ. I feel like Myke is unable to put his atheist ego aside & listen to what certain Christians have to say. But whatever. It’s his life. EDIT: And this is coming from a Christian who has read many things from secular people, such as Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, Christopher Hitchens, Ayn Rand, & Richard Dawkins. So if I’m able to hear others out, he should be able to as well.
@@BrandonBowditch Myke Ctown like always could not help himself and be his usual condescending self. Kanye has had an affinity for spirituality and Jesus from the very beginning. Its just that he is finally transitioning to a new level of integrity thats all. Overall this whole review was a waste of time. A bunch of grown ass men casting doubt on a mans life realizations.
Resmi Intelect Yeah. I’m not even saying it’s a perfect album. But the majority of the songs were good. The only songs I didn’t like were Closed On Sundays, Jesus is Lord, & Everything We Need. Especially Everything We Need. That shit didn’t even sound like a Kanye song. But the way the 4 were talking about it was just condescending & rude. They talk as if they know him or something. I’m by no means a Kanye “Stan” as they call it, but I would never say he’s not actually having a spiritual awakening. And it’s largely because I know that it’s not my place to say. Whatever is happening with him is between him & god. Anyway. I’ll stop ranting here. haha
Already know this is gonna be wild. Imma go ahead and say I really loved and enjoyed this album especially "Hands On" it is probably one of fav Kanye songs. I love the content, not really a God or Jesus type of dude, but I enjoyed it. It's a weird listen and I won't say his best work per say but I really like it for some reason.
Tha Swami the album is trash lmao. He somehow made an album worse than Ye which is embarrassing. Y'all Kanye fans will eat up absolutely everything he does it's ridiculous.
Hopefully this is the end of Kanye's musical run. He is seriously ruining one of the best discographies in the history of music. It's soooo fucking depressing to sit and watch this happen and not be able to do anything about it.
@Romy Taylor his new environment lends to his conflicted sense of self . I feel for any brother who at the end of the day is fighting for a comfort level with being himself . His messaging has always been BOLD ways to mask his insecurity . Kanye was always Kanye, trying to convince himself that he simply belongs while trying to convince the world that ' I'M NOT LIKE Y'ALL, I'M THE MOST SPECIAL' . I want well for him, but I know better than to hold onto anything he says . It's not for me anyway .
As a Christian, you can't expect Kanye to be super deep theologically when he is a new believer. It takes time to develop that in a walk with God. Give him time to grow to explain what happened to him because at the end of the day it's not easy to externalize what God has done for you internally.
Have You ever been in any religion ??? Cults are fake religions, so That's why You think it's a Cult...... Nothing is wrong with what They are doing, Kanye is a grown man who has been through a lot, And when You do You can see how God saved and helped You, And how lucky at every moment You were.... so You just praise God.
I don't know if I necessarily agree with Myke about his "psychoanalysis" but it is a really interesting possibility. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend it's not possible And before someone that doesnt frequent this channel tries to claim that Myke is just a Kanye hater, realize that he labels 808s and MBDTF classics and thought Kids See Ghosts was fucking incredible.
David Netmaker to a degree maybe, but 1) he wouldn’t love the song Follow God so much if that was a major problem, and 2) I believe him when he said it wouldve been great if Kanye had gone deeper with it - that everything just felt like a surface level love for god and Christianity, not a thought out concept. I don’t think Myke is as one-dimensional as you’re making him out to be. He knows Kanye can do better.
@@whywerentyouthere i see what you mean but that's all the more reason some people won't connect with it - not rich enough in substance. Myke was essentially saying that it would've been dope if Kanye had sat with the material for longer, but instead it's almost certain that he decided to do this not even a year ago.
I talked to Beezy earlier today and got his review: "It's not for me, but if you like it, cop the album, I mean, you have a lot of fans, and they like what you're doing, so just because I don't like it, don't mean it's bad or you have to listen to me, but yeah anyway man, go get the album if this is something you like"
“Real Friends” hit my heart more than anything he put out recently and “No More Parties In LA” was a fucking anthem 💯! Those were the last two songs I liked from Kanye
Fair, but the KKK and westboro church preach Christ and I'm not sure god is cool with their take on it. I think part of it has to be how you interpret before you preach.
‘Jesus Is King’ is a mixed blessing. Kanye’s love for God has inspired some of the happiest and freest music I’ve heard in his entire career. However, I agree that most of these songs feel unfinished. He’s a new believer, so let’s give him time to build up to his next classic album.
Chris Lacy Like Jesus once said “HELL NAW” That fool mind body and soul reeks of pure foulness like a undercover gay, child molesting, dope dealing preacher!
I thought that was part of the expression. He's a new believer. He's a baby Christian. So they are short tracks that feel unfinished. He is "short" on his faith and just "started". The next album will be fuller as he is taught more by the Holy Spirit and reads the Bible more.
Good point on the lecrae sales should go up. I enjoyed the album. Listened to it a couple of times. Follow God, everything we need and now that y’all mentioned it On God is a good one too. I agree wit Mike saying it should’ve been more detailed but maybe he’ll get more in depth later on. I believe God did touch Kanye and he’s being genuine
I listened to the album because I was curious to see what mindset Kanye had. I think the moment he becomes more conventionally “sane”, people will stop caring. Dude is like a real life Truman Show
Kanye's career is a lot like The Simpsons, the first couple of years was fantastic, inspirational and still hold up with people to this day. Nowadays, not so much.
Damn homie this is sage. They left a legacy and have made straight trash for decades with only bright spots here and there, but the fans still support.
I think the reasons for Kanye's switch up that DEHH is looking for to see the debth of the album is in Big Boy's recent interview with Kanye. Kanye makes interesting points to explain his transition.
I died when they showed Beezy's empty chair 💀😂😂 I also died at Myke's reaction when Feefo said Kanye sounded healthy lmfaoooo. I pretty much 100% agree with Myke and Modest, Kanye needs help. And I def respect Beezy's decision to not be there
bro, Modest is SO much better being part of the conversation than when he is behind the camera. I appreciated his takes and everything on this episode more than ever. Consider keeping him there on the next one when Beezy is back.
When Myke said "when you listen to this album, he's talking to himself" i had this "ah-ha" moment in my head. Really puts all this album in perspective
It's ridiculous to say this a bad album. I get that people not rocking wih Ye's new direction but the songs are actually good musically and lyrically. He sounds actually fluid when he's rapping but I agree that he's probably having a manic episode based on those interviews....but straight up the songs are fire. I just wish they were longer and he'd stop with the minimalist approach.

Myke: “satan”

MARS MABILIS DREW BILLI QUICK QuICK It’s almost like he has 0 respect at all for religion and brought that into this listen on the album. I don’t care if he’s atheist but he’s actin like anything religious is wack by nature. That’s ignorant.
Pretty immature for a grown ass man honestly. I listen to death metal too but I don’t show up to church with a pentagram on my shirt. It’s called being decent to one another and showing respect.
The Black Christian Church slaughtered Lecrae his whole career. Black christianity isn't a monolith. Love your review guys!

"Chi state of mind
Lost my momma
Lost my mind..."
this is 2004.... off of his own album.

As a Christian, you can't expect Kanye to be super deep theologically when he is a new believer. It takes time to develop that in a walk with God. Give him time to grow to explain what happened to him because at the end of the day it's not easy to externalize what God has done for you internally.

It's scarily close to the truth
He hates on Christianity heavy so his analysis on Kanye is a bit skewed
David Netmaker to a degree maybe, but 1) he wouldn’t love the song Follow God so much if that was a major problem, and 2) I believe him when he said it wouldve been great if Kanye had gone deeper with it - that everything just felt like a surface level love for god and Christianity, not a thought out concept. I don’t think Myke is as one-dimensional as you’re making him out to be. He knows Kanye can do better.
ChrisJ Fox maybe that's cause is still at surface level with being a reformed christian so I can't really expect him to go deep as of yet.
@@whywerentyouthere i see what you mean but that's all the more reason some people won't connect with it - not rich enough in substance. Myke was essentially saying that it would've been dope if Kanye had sat with the material for longer, but instead it's almost certain that he decided to do this not even a year ago.
I talked to Beezy earlier today and got his review:

Good review. Everyone had solid points. Brother with locks is SUPER on point with his perspective.
It didn’t feel like an album. It didn’t have a narrative, idk it felt like a big let down especially coming from someone as great musically as Kanye.
Chicasso Productions That’s exactly what I got from it. I hope others catch onto this as well.

@@sumairb9978 I totally forgot I made this comment. Looking back, this aged well :)
Damn Beezy still mad? 🤣🤣
beezy hypocritical af, he'll listen to a kanye produced album daytona and nasir but won't listen to ye and ksg
@@watermaloney9677 still the artists are people he respects. It's not the same lol.
Shawn Mitchell but he wants nothing to do with Kanye and then he goes listen to a Kanye produced album
@@watermaloney9677 kanye ain't nas or pusha t. They're their own artist. It's THEIR album he's listening too. Not kanyes.
Shawn Mitchell Technically Kanye’s album too he did half the work
When Myke said "when you listen to this album, he's talking to himself" i had this "ah-ha" moment in my head. Really puts all this album in perspective
7:40 my GOD myke is savage lol love it
It's ridiculous to say this a bad album.
Lyrically this album is basic af. While I did enjoy the music, I feel like Kanye could’ve mixed it better and maybe add more detail to some songs.
