From the 48 laws of power: "Pablo Picasso never allowed himself to fade into the background; if his name became too attached to a particular style, he would deliberately upset the public with a new series of paintings that went against all expectations. Better to create something ugly and disturbing, he believed, than to let viewers grow too familiar with his work." ....Thus, The Life of Pablo.
difference is Picasso changed his differing styles by himself. He didn't pay dozens of painters to touch or guide his style into his own works. Kanye is purposely fading into the background, he's a clout chaser
Guys!! I understand that the album sounded very incoherent, I thought the same, but that's why this one guy who I can't remember made a playlist version of the album without the filler and sounds 5 times better than the original and actually has a theme. Here it is. Kanye West TLOP Playlist Tracklist Introduction- 1. Low Lights ACT 1 Kanye is high on life and is corrupted by fame 2. Famous 3.Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 4. Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2 5.Waves 6. Highlights. 7. Feedback ACT 2 Kanye is slowly coming down from the high and waking up, having a moment of clarity. 8. Freestyle 4 9. 30 Hours. 10. No More Parties In LA. 11. Fade ACT 3 Kanye makes a dramatic change and finds his faith and embraces a new life, one with God. 12. FML 13. Real Friends 14. Wolves 15. Ultralight Beam

Feefo is too much of a coward to maintain an opinion, I've always found that very annoying in this channel. Whenever he starts speaking his mind, he gets to nervous when the rest don't approve of him, and he quickly changes his mind against the odds of standing by himself. I just listened to it for the first time today (I was 12 when this released) and I really like it. Its probably my joint favourite Kanye album out of the ones I've heard.
+DojoMuppet I am 110% sure it being unfinished is not why they skipped it. It is still part of the album and we can not change that. They may have not cared for it or forgot.
Beezy gave the perfect example. On Mbtdf he was rhyming. So why are people giving him a pass on this album saying he just produces good music. Na Kanye can spit when he puts the effort in.
But it depends on what you listen to Kanye for. For me it's always been the aesthetic and production value. I never went to Kanye for bars, mbdtf too. The best parts of mbdtf he's not rapping (second half of runaway)
LMFAO Myke literally spoke my mind, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would BUT.......... if someone told me they thought it was awful I wouldn't even try to dispute it. Still doesn't come close to any of his best work.
thelankytank Yeah. At first I didn't care for it but the more I listened to it the more I loved the production and vocals, and that album pretty much made me like auto tune.
what I respect about Kanye the most is he is constantly changing. yeezus sounds nothing like mbdtf, 808's sounds nothing like late registration, graduation different than college dropout etc. every album is a new sound, no one on is level when it comes to creativity
Freestyle 4 is one of my favs off TLOP. I see it as he's on drugs at this really high-class party & his reality is being distorted so he's just losing it. i love it.
808s & Heartbreak is a fantastic pop album. Definitely his most underrated album IMO. As for TLOP, it feels like a compilation of unreleased and demo tracks. You get the best and worst of Kanye.
Nah because it's kind of like how madvillainy has a lot of tracks but they aren't long songs so I don't mind it. The album is still short. (I am not saying this is as good as madvillainy haha never it is not even close) but it is like the length of that.

Kanye sounds like he's biting modern rappers cuz they indirectly bite him. About every rapper on TLOP is a product of Kanye. Not every one, but a lot of em.
Kanye doesn't even focus on music right now, his passion is in fashion. Can't force the guy to spend a month in Hawaii with a huge group of people to grind out a GOAT album. Music will never be his #1 focus anymore. TLOP still dope album though
Myke I could not agree with you more. I hated it at first, was complaining to my friends and telling people not to listen. Eventually it clicked and it has literally been the only thing I've listened to since. I'll listen to it back to back, at least several times a day every day. I've never played an album more right after release than this one. Also, on FML, strong agree, my favorite song on the album (next to Freestyle 4 and Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1). Outro is one of my favorite Kanye moments ever. Incredible.
I'm a big Kanye fan. I think that the album is all over the place, but I was never bored listening to it. I enjoyed it. Honestly, I really love the song Fade. I don't know why, but I just do.
808s is a good album but overhyped with the influence. It's more of a cult classic that the stans made it appear to be classic. The album have huge influence directly from T-Pain mixed with his emotions at the time.
George it is an amazing one though because of its influence it’s influence is still clear all the way a year after you posted this comment that’s why it’s one of the best albums of that generation it’s completely cutting edge and ahead of its time
I feel like people correlate influential with "best." Just because an album is influential doesn't mean it's one of the best. This is also coming from someone who likes a decent amount of 808's. It wasn't even the best project in 2008.
I love ya'll man, always got the anticipation building for the reviews, we know we gettin a fully formed opinion and you guys just got that chemistry bwoooi yeeha, thanks lads much love
I like The Life of Pablo. I'd give it an 8/10. I keep listening to it and the songs are great. The production and features are dope, but there are too many wack lines Kanye throws in there. He needed to sit down and write some better verses. TLOP is not wack, nor is it a classic. I think it's a solid album with some serious lyrical issues.
30 hours is still probably one of the biggest missed potential songs in hip hop. The beat and Kanye verse are dope if Andre had spat and they didn’t have a 5 hour outro it could’ve been one of the best songs of the year who knows
It is all over the place, but I do see a sense of cohesion. The album for me fits into 3 thirds: Ultralight beam-Highlights (High energy, uplifting, funny, the joy/positives of self-indulgence) Freestyle 4-Wolves (the dark side/negatives of self-indulgence, Kanye's self-frustration, mania, struggles with growing up and dealing with others) Silver Surfer-Fade (Bonus tracks, more conventional songs, Kanye's ready to make music again) The original cover that asked "which one?" I think is a reference to his struggle between being Pablo Picasso and Pablo Escobar (a brilliant artist or a megalomaniac billionaire criminal). In reality, he can't approach either of their levels because most of the dialogue about him is about inconsequential tabloid bullshit.
if you "miss the old Kanye" and want him to make another album he's already made, you don't understand an artist. to quote Jay-Z, "n****s want my old shit, buy my old album." keep progressing and making new sounds, Ye.
This was a good episode. Everyone said their thing. I love it when Kinge goes off. The only thing is though, I want you guys to go back to the old format where you all discussed the album at once as a collective, rather than just taking turns. I know it was chaotic at times, but I like DEHH for the group discussions, and with this current format the discussions really gets toned down. Also, it would be a nice change of pace if you guys get more in-depth with these reviews, like discuss it more thoroughly, and you guys can get into things like the themes, meaning, and artistry about the album. There's a lot of things that could've been touched on that that hasn't; e.g. like the outro on FML, the eerie sample "see through the veil, and forget all your cares" and how Kanye followed that with pouring his heart out singing which sounded so raw and emotionally compelling. In any case, just in general getting more elaborate with the reviews would be nice in my opinion. But again, I still enjoyed this review, thanks for making it.
even if i totally disagree with a few things in your reviews you guys are the best. yall always got me laughing and always point out the important factors. i enjoyed the album and im always entertained by your videos regardless of what my opinion or your opinion might be.. thank you so much
I'm actually surprised Myke liked it. I literally had the same experience with the album as you Myke. At first I hated it, but now I really like the album.
Shoutout to Ken. People laugh at him saying he washed up, but let's be real, 808 and Yeezus were garbage, regardless of comparison to his first three albums
I pretty much had the same experience Myke had when listening to this. Went from "gaaaaa-bage" to "greatness". Oddly enough same thing happen with Yeezus. After revisiting it a few times it just grew on me.
I'm here to share my thoughts: I enjoyed this album. To me, this album brought back the College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Yeezus, I found every one of them in this album, vibes, mixed. He revealed his inner world, those talking tracks, gospel vibes, sampled songs, beats, etc. If you are a Kanye fan, you will definitely love it. This is the most Kanye Kanye album.
It is not named after Picasso. He tweeted that it was named after Apostle Paul. He also tweeted a couple days ago he is dropping another album in the summer.
chill with the disrespect towards the guy's opinions on this I remember when dehh was a place where people would talk about hip hop and not be so fucking ignorant about it in the comment section thanks for the review guys I enjoy everything y'all do and respect all y'all opinions even if I disagree.
I'ma challenge what you guys are saying about this album not being cohesive one. This album moves seamlessly. It feels like waves. "Ultralight beam" maybe a hell of a different song than "father stretch my hands" but that transition is smooth as fuck. The outro and into to those songs have similar tones then add the hook and it picks up. It makes all the sounds make sense together and that continues throughout the whole album with many the exclusion of "I love kanye" but even that song had a purpose in the place it was placed. That was like his little intermission, a little fun break then we get waves which is a perfect transition into the darker side of the album then we have silver surfer to transition us back up with 30 hours. There's a reason why all of these songs are in the order that they are in. This is certainly one of the easiest albums for me to listen to back to back because of how cohesive it actually is. It feels like waves. Him wanting to name his album that is understandable. I first listened to this on tidal where they have this smooth transitional thing where it plays every song in order right after the other, and i found myself listening to this album back to back almost twice without even really noticing. I can see this album doing well being performed live in order.
Jesus I love Myke, I've rarely disagreed with him and he nails it on the head especially on this album. I'm not sure if I love or hate I Love Kanye, but literally I agree with every word you said
Myke actually liked it...... I did not see that coming. GREAT NEWS GUYS, he's releasing another album in the summer, don't get your hopes up, so if it sucks you won't get surprised, and if it's amazing you will be surprised
I agree with Ken that everything about this album was all over the place, but the thing he’s not getting is that’s sort of what makes it special. I think the experience is coherent and enjoyable for me and that’s all that matters. But I do understand his frustrations, I LIKE it but it’s not objectively near his earlier stuff. I do think Donda was exactly what he said about Kanye trying to blend in a lot more then this album
I wasn't enjoying this album at all and thought it was all over the place stylistically, and then I saw a comment on fantano's review that said if you re order the album into the way he originally had it, with 3 different acts it's way more cohesive. I wouldn't normally change the order to the album but the fact Ye changed it daily showed there was little consideration behind the order of the songs. After I re ordered it I enjoyed the album much more and I think it makes way more sense this way, also I just deleted the bullshit songs like lowlights and facts. here is the order of the tracks: famous, father stretch, waves, highlights, feedback, freestyle 4, 30 hours, NMPILA, fade, FML, real friends, wolves, ultralight beam. that song is also way better as a closer than an opener imo, rounds the album off nicely. the theory is that at the start Kanye is crazy off his power and fame, then in act 2 he is coming down from the high and having a moment of clarity, then in act 3 he is
Complaining about the lyrics on a Kanye album at this point in his career is like complaining about the acting in Pornography. Good review guys; agree with pretty much everything Myke said.
What no one understands about Kanye at any point in his career is that he was never much of a lyricist or a rapper honestly he is an artist but of course you guys don't understand that.
The point of the album is to be all over the place. Starting from gospel to new Kanye to old Kanye, to dumb shit to real shit. Even the marketing scheme and the album cover is all over the place. You have to look at the whole production outside the music itself.
+Kennith Inge ken you GOTTA do a video talking about Kanyes madness from 808s onwards, you touched on it here but I swear you mentioned a few years ago you wanted to do a vid on it, would be dope to hear y'alls opinions on him
I think the whole "it grows on you" line is such a fucking cop out. It was so refreshing when my friend said today, "The more you listen to Kanye's new album, the shittier it gets." I died laughing.
The review I was waiting for the most.

I'm a big Kanye fan. I think that the album is all over the place, but I was never bored listening to it. I enjoyed it. Honestly, I really love the song Fade. I don't know why, but I just do.
why does everyone hate 808's, I love that album
808s is a good album but overhyped with the influence. It's more of a cult classic that the stans made it appear to be classic. The album have huge influence directly from T-Pain mixed with his emotions at the time.
@@shawnorjiakor thank you sir
@@intelligencecycle3523 You're welcome.

@@redwarrior118 🤔 What you mean?
Dude 808's is one of the best albums of that generation!
Eoghan900 oh my god we have the same spelling
Dude maybe one of the most influential but hardly one of the best althought it was a good one but not an amazing one...
@@joshdixon655 BS. If it isn't good, it wouldn't be influential. If no one liked it, no one would be influenced from bad shit
Shouts out to the Patrons!!! DEHH 4 life
I love ya'll man, always got the anticipation building for the reviews, we know we gettin a fully formed opinion and you guys just got that chemistry bwoooi yeeha, thanks lads much love
That moment when "black publications" panned TLOP more than "white publications"...
This
😂😂
Remember when Myke said Because the Internet was what Yeezus should've been
According to Kanye Life of Pablo was a reference to Paul the Apostle
808s is dope as hell! you speak to kids nowadays and they say 808s is the best Kanye album. he has something for everyone
Ken had me cracking up at 9:36 after Modest Media asked if he liked it or not.
Yo Fr 😂😂
I like The Life of Pablo. I'd give it an 8/10. I keep listening to it and the songs are great. The production and features are dope, but there are too many wack lines Kanye throws in there. He needed to sit down and write some better verses. TLOP is not wack, nor is it a classic. I think it's a solid album with some serious lyrical issues.
I love TLOP, it took a lot of listens but with this album has definitely aged amazingly
The album for me fits into 3 thirds:
Ultralight beam-Highlights (High energy, uplifting, funny, the joy/positives of self-indulgence)
Freestyle 4-Wolves (the dark side/negatives of self-indulgence, Kanye's self-frustration, mania, struggles with growing up and dealing with others)
Silver Surfer-Fade (Bonus tracks, more conventional songs, Kanye's ready to make music again)
The original cover that asked "which one?" I think is a reference to his struggle between being Pablo Picasso and Pablo Escobar (a brilliant artist or a megalomaniac billionaire criminal).
He ain't progressing though.
Same. At first I wasn't really liking it. Listened to it like five more times and now I can't stop listening to it. I love it
Yall should rank all of Kanye's albums.

I'm actually surprised Myke liked it. I literally had the same experience with the album as you Myke. At first I hated it, but now I really like the album.
i understand people not liking 808s but you cannot deny how important that album was for hiphop.
Not a Patreon but still get to watch this video yesssss!

After revisiting it a few times it just grew on me.
yeezus either makes you a fan or a hater. theres no in between
I agree with myke. I didn't know what to think off my first listen, gave it a few days and it's like Jesus hypnotized me into loving this album.
I was wrong about my prediction of Myke C which is a prime example of how you never know what a person might hear or see.

Wow mykes reaction was surprising, was expecting the same reaction as he had with yeesus.
It is not named after Picasso. He tweeted that it was named after Apostle Paul. He also tweeted a couple days ago he is dropping another album in the summer.
Did he really say that?!?!

Brendan Allie you’re bugging. This album is his worst but it’s still good.
Just started the vid and Ken yelling 😂😂😂
Crazy looking back that THIS was the last Kanye album Beezy ever reviewed before the Kanye Rant lol...
Didn't expect that shit from Myke at all.
Right? I was expecting him to tear it apart.
As soon as I heard Kinge's rant in the intro I was dying laughing. I remember his rant for Yeezus.
After I re ordered it I enjoyed the album much more and I think it makes way more sense this way, also I just deleted the bullshit songs like lowlights and facts. here is the order of the tracks: famous, father stretch, waves, highlights, feedback, freestyle 4, 30 hours, NMPILA, fade, FML, real friends, wolves, ultralight beam. that song is also way better as a closer than an opener imo, rounds the album off nicely. the theory is that at the start Kanye is crazy off his power and fame, then in act 2 he is coming down from the high and having a moment of clarity, then in act 3 he is
"It's not serious, but it is very artistic"
fucking nailed it
In Myke we trust.

Complaining about the lyrics on a Kanye album at this point in his career is like complaining about the acting in Pornography.
Good review guys; agree with pretty much everything Myke said.

@@calebw3353 Ye was awesome Kids see ghosts is one of his best
What no one understands about Kanye at any point in his career is that he was never much of a lyricist or a rapper honestly he is an artist but of course you guys don't understand that.
@@uraldixon9673 I left that comment four years ago, to be fair. I love TLOP and I always have
The point of the album is to be all over the place. Starting from gospel to new Kanye to old Kanye, to dumb shit to real shit. Even the marketing scheme and the album cover is all over the place. You have to look at the whole production outside the music itself.
