ya and? i've been waiting for this after my first listen I wanted to hear what my favourite hip hop review channel thinks about my favourite rapper's new album
The hook has a sinister feel that goes well with the theme of the movie. Also te stuttering in the verses can be seen as when the symbiote attaches and you trying to get out!
I kind of want Eminem to release an album where every song has a dope feature cause he really seems to bring it when he's on a track with another great rapper.
This was so much better than Anthony Fantanos review. I'm not mad at the score he gave it all, I'm never mad at the score, it's just his personal opinion. But Fantano obviously did a halfassed little hate video of a review and it was obvious. These guys actually talked about the record from a hip hop stand point. Even if they hated the record, I'm just glad they reviewed it as hip hop fans.
DazzOne Fantano underplays Em's delivery ability. Being able to rap fast is a talent. If it wasn't, then EVERY single rapper would do it. Even when Em was rapping fast on this record, he still slides those witty lines in here and there.
But from a hip hop standpoint, this is just a cool album. Nothing else really. He's made better, and there's been much better albums within the genre this year
GuysofFilm From a delivery aspect I feel Kamikaze is one of Em's best efforts as a collective project. Over the past few years he's dropped nuggets on features, but never brought that fire on such a back to back basis like he did here from a delivery aspect. Sure, there have been a good number of albums that have come out that people deem better, but I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop/rap music that's new these days. Including Kamikaze, I've only listened to 4 albums this year.
Tbh when I use to listen to Mac Miller back in the day as a preteen, I would kind of overlook and sometimes laugh at the drug references but now that he’s dead it just gives the lyrics a new meaning now RIP Mac Miller the legend
@@nibyafternight1983 recovery is a masterpiece. mmlp2 was far more than 7. he just makes an opinion as a review. picking one fun line and bashes the album. i mean he has good musical brain but to trash eminem giving 7 6s are not fair bro. think about it. i felt encore was the only weak album from eminem rest were certain concept ones [ASIDE FROM BEATS OF REVIVAL]. relapse was a rhyming dictionary and horrorcore, recovery was him coming back. mmlp2 was lyrically amazing. revival was his opinions. kamikaze was fighting back. mtbmb is hip hop juggernaut. i might sound like a dick ri=der but i love eminem and people are making me feel like eminem doesnt know how to make GOOD music and albums.
@@user-wt4fu4rz1j Lol if you're trying to say Em didn't have facts before he released this album. He's a damn battle rapper. He knows you don't step up and point a gun at someone without having the ammunition to shoot with. Trust and believe that Mgk isn't an angel. He seems like he lies quite a bit too. Like, how is he blacklisted but still getting booked on other stations? How is still getting interviews and airplay and shows? How is he getting features with tech9 when Eminem is techs favorite rapper and also his friend. Ffs, em gave tech9 a verse for free. If Eminem really wanted to get rid of mgk then none of that shit would exist. Mgk would've been long gone. If that wasn't what you were implying then I apologize and I wasted my time. Peace.
Em has his pop fans and his hiphop fans. Ever since he dueted with Rihanna (although the song had huge commercial success) this was the beginning of his downfall. Hopefully he’s focused now on straight hiphop.
But he only did that song because Pop music was running things in 2010, Hiphop (specifically trap) has been running shit for at least 5 years now, he should've known better
Braven Carlsen . I disagree. But my point is, Rihanna was the biggest pop star at the time. Having her on one of his tracks opened a can of worms and diluted the quality of rap. He reduced himself to please his pop fans.
Kamikaze is a fantastic album-my fifth favorite Eminem album ever. Kamikaze reminded me of classic Eminem, updated for the modern age with contemporary beats I just miss his superb story-telling ability, and smooth, charisma driven flows, these essential elements are missing from the majority of all his latter day albums.
C'mon how is everyone getting confused about em's opinion on Revival? It is clear he still thinks that it is a good album, but understands he took an L because fans hated it and didn't want that kind of music from him.
Revival imo had its merits to it. It also had a lot of cons to it. For myself, it lacks overall replay value. Like there's 5 or 6 tracks I could play on repeat then the others I'd have to be in the mood to listen too.
In regards to people on Twitter shitting on the album. It could be that at this point they just don't care about Eminem anymore. Many of them look at how Eminem has been this decade from Recovery to Kamikaze and many of them probably feel he has fell off. In terms of making good music at least. Nobody is saying that he can't rap, that's a given and not even a discussion point. What the real critique is on these days is the overall music. Production wise Eminem' has been...not picking the best beats. On top of that there's only so much "I'm the best rapper listen to my lyrical miracles I spit so rapidly" kinda shit people can take. It gets old.
@Aboood165 I think the last 2 song were okay....... I only think nice guy was wack....... Good guy and venom still have a dope enough flow to carry them out
I never understood why Eminem isn’t allowed to try something different a type of rap that only he really does similar to Recovery which is one of my favourite albums, he talks about touchy freely topics that relate to what he is going through at the time. Kanye completely left rap to what ever he does now and Jayz also changed his style entirely and on blueprint 3 told everyone “you want my old shit, buy my old album” yet neither of them get a fraction of the hate the Eminem got. Why can’t he do what he wants to do, why can’t people accept that. You don’t have to like it, consider it a non-hiphop album and move on. DDEH don’t even have to review it. Think about how many rappers did R&B albums, look at 50 cent, his new music is so different to his old stuff and it doesn’t sell yet people don’t say anything about that. I’m glad that Eminem answered back and it is great to hear him spit once again. He can’t be angry about the same old shit that he was angry about 18 years ago. If you still angry about the same shit you were 18 years ago, you have issues. Different things inspire him. However, what if all this criticism is because he is the only one left in the game who is a real lyricist and Rap is in such a bad state right now that he is the only column holding it up and afraid if he does something different, then rap is entirely just mumble rap. No skill, just an overused bassy track with 4 words in rotation.
I literally just watched their review of DAMN and one of them said "people get mad at Kendrick cuz he changes his style. Like, all his albums gotta have a story or hidden message. They shouldn't close him in like that. They should allow him to grow and evolve as an artist" yet here, they tell Em " just do your grimey stuff where you go at people. That's what you do. That's what we like" felt kinda hypocritical. Other than that, love their reviews and discussions.
@@cv-in3lo very true. I didn't want to get race involved but it does feel like all the other comments you see online trashing Eminem for being white saying the is no room for him in hip-hop and him not being "part of the culture". I've never seen a dehh review of any artist were they've trashed them as much as they've done Eminem, specially the Revival review. That was the worst review I've seen of their's. It was a rant. No positives just criticism. But funny, didn't it go platinum anyways? Only Kendrick and Drake sold more in the first week in 2017. I don't know if you watch the scriptworks channel, they are revisiting Revival to see if they did in fact "slept on revival"
Plain_23 because the stuff he’s been doing ‘different’ since MMLP has just been getting worse and worse. Encore, Relapse, Revival... nothing close to his early output. People want him to do his old style because it was great. People don’t like his knew stuff cuz it usually sucks. It’s that simple.
This album was solid IMO. I genuinely don't understand the hate it gets, but then again people love hating on em. There were only 3 tracks I did t like out of 13... so 7.5/10. BTW I can't wait to see all the em haters that get pissed off once they find out that dehh enjoyed this album lmao.
Giacomo Delfin they have every right to hate on his last album revival, but if you hate this kamikaze album or say it's "trash" then that's just crazy lol
Darrick Franklin we'll agree to disagree man. I thought this album was a lot more fun to listen to than most albums that have dropped this year. Simply because em is going at 80% of the rap industry and he sounds hungry again. This is was hip hop needed, we need beef in the industry, it keeps it entertaining IMO
Appreciate your reviews. RIP Mac Miller. I know you guys weren't the biggest fans of him but I always looked forward to your guy's reviews of his albums/mixtapes whenever he released something.
Haven't stopped crying since I woke up on the 7th to find out Mac Miller Died. Mac was a artist I related to a lot I don't even think I have the right words to really describe how I'm feeling...
It's okay bro me too, I love you mac loves you; I know he did cause he cared for everyone his fans especially. Never cryed for a musician but his hurt me dog. I felt like I lost a cousin or brother that I don't really get to see but he sends me voice messages to know he still loves me.
I appreciate all you guys honestly. Mac was one of my all time favorite artists not because he was the most lyrical or technical or whatever but to me he had probably the most heart. And the way everyone is mourning him shows that.
Fantano has given "rappity rap" albums positive reviews (Black Thought, Run The Jewels, Ka, etc). It's more Eminem's attitude that didn't fare well with him.
I honestly think Fantano just has an extreme bias. Against white rappers in general, but Eminem moreso. I feel like he already dislikes Eminem, the new wave Eminem fans are braindead and he hates them as well. I also feel like part of him, being white, has some insecurities about reviewing an album from a white artist, in a hip hop genre. He doesn't wanna be seen as cheesy and like other 'white people' for whatever reason and makes an effort to dislike them so people can see him as better reviewer (as in the fact that people would see it and give him credibility for being a white person reviewing and yet doesnt like much rap made by white people so "hey, he isnt biased" when in fact his bias is the other way around). He has a big enough fan base and credibility that he shouldn't do this, but I feel it is a personal thing with him that is very evident.
+vZZenn Fantano has said tho that he loved Em when he was starting out up until Relapse. Plus he even fucked wit MMLP2. Never really got why people think he got this vendetta against Em
Ya but I feel like he is just saying that. I feel like he might've liked those albums when he was younger, but if he were to revisit them, his current views would make him hate those albums. A lot of the criticism he has about Eminem, can be directly translated on stuff Eminem did back on every album before Encore. I don't necessarily think it is a vendetta against Eminem, but insecurities about himself.
Whenever it comes to rap it seems like he just listens to the beat and the hook and sometimes the meaning of the song, he doesn't care at all about bars
I once saw an old interview here on RUclips of Eminem around the time when the 1st MMLP was released where he said he makes his music for ONLY him and doesn't worry that if others will dig it or not. That was his problem with "Revival"; him and Mr. Porter BOTH said that he was trying to make a song for EVERYONE on that album. Even though I'm a sucker for diversity, that couldn't even help "Revival" in the least bit, and even the most die hard fans of that album (which is evidently VERY few) can admit that. And I know that because I talked to some of those die hard fans via face-to-face and social media. But even though Em missed the mark completely with "Revival", I understand feeling all that pressure when you're on a pedestal-hence the "Walk On Water" record, which I actually enjoy and I'm not afraid (no pun intended) to admit it. He just had to remind himself why his earlier records were highly praised-not giving a fuck (again, no pun intended) about others think/want and just do him. And I think he hit that mark with this "Kamikaze" album. But yeah, Normal, Nice Guy and Good Guy were trash; I fucks with Venom, though. Great review, DEHH!
I think what Em was talking about with Hopsin and Logic is that they're out of the normal box when it comes to rap just like Em because there's basically been a certain blueprint you've had to follow to be successful in rap.
i think they are the best reviewers of albums, they pay attention to the beat the lyrics the artist and everything aroud, that's how a review should be done.
Y'all are the best hip hop reviewers on RUclips. Y'all are the truth n talk real conversation about the topic. Keep it Real! R.i.p Mac Miller #SlimShadyIsBack!!
Everyone has the internet. If he wanted to see reviews, he types Eminem reviews and is bound to found you or fantano or all the others that do this. It's not that far fetched.
Am I the only one who likes venom and the hook on it? It's one of my favs ahaha but I knew straight away when I heard the hook people would clown the 'mmmmmm part' haha. Stepping stone is also my fav, I really liked the hook? I love those type of hooks from Eminem, it reminded me of toy soldiers.
Good job guys. Im not a huge Em fan, but I give credit where its do. He set to high of a split standard, you got split fans, Hip-POP & Hip-HOP, both dont like the other.. Most of the elite MCs of all time rock with and show EM love.
Snoopy double G For certain songs I agree with you. Fall, Lucky You, and Stepping Stone hold up very well, but some of the other songs like Venom, Good Guy and Normal aren’t as enjoyable after a few listens.
Only tracks I'll probably return to are The Ringer (Best track on the album hands down), Lucky You (Been hearing this track a lot recently, I didn't like it much at first but it grew on me), and the Royce and Joyner joints. The rest is solid but nothing I'll feel the need to return to. Still, that's 4 tracks out of 12, more than any Em album since like Relapse lol and those tracks are really really good. I hope, if and when he makes another album, those tracks should be the standard to follow.
Dope review: If this album were cut down to 6 - 7 tracks I think it would have been close to a flawless Album. It's still a massive improvement and I'm glad Em put this out. I think we need a Sam Hill - Book of Sam review next :)
Principal Skinner you can even look through some of the comments here. This album is getting a lot more hate than I thought it would. It’s very strange.
@@sergiomendoza4040 im confused at your comment. I enjoyed the album. All i was saying is that there are quite a few people out there who didnt like the album based on some of the articles and comments ive seen?
Honestly touching on logic once he made it big after under pressure his lyricism went down for beats and production. You go back and listen to something like dead presidents 3 young Sinatra 3 all Sinatra everything others on his mixtape there is absolutely no denying he is a talented and lyrical artist. The most recent stuff hasn’t been on par with his mixtape self but the fact that it’s there shows he is a great lyricist when he wants to really be.
paul edo Yeah, I felt like he needed to delve a bit deeper into social and political issues that modern day America faces. Not enough black empowerment in my opinion.
Do people call Revival trash and the Eminem pop tracks trash, only because it's Eminem? If it was a different artist would you like it because of the lack of expectation.
Yup if someone else dropped that album people would love it it got hate because it's em. Look what's happening now STILL Alot of people hating on new album..this album is FIRE
Alana Wrisley I think I’ve given up entirely with music, movie, & TV opinions on the internet. People complain no matter what. Fuck everyone at this point.
yes and no. first, they’re just so much lower quality music than the classic eminem, but EVEN some of his older pop rap songs. and i agree with the comment above about the weird old man voice with ed sheeran or some pop chick. it doesn’t work. lastly, revival was trash period, regardless of the pop tracks. theres a reason this review is so much more different. em was hungry again on kamikaze
Eminem and pop artists doesn't mix. He is rapping his ass off but zero chemistry with the singer, and most of the time singer's hook is trash af too. Exception from Stan and Lighters.
I think Fantano was too harsh on Kamikaze. He focused a lot on Eminem's bashing of the media and reviewers like himself while barely addressing the fact that the album actually sounds really good for what it is. I would give Kamikaze a solid 8/10. It has some of the most impressive flows/rap speed of all time and some fairly good wordplay. It's not Eminem's best album in my opinion, but he has definitely turned things around since Revival.
He definitely knows a lot about Hip Hop and has great reviews about it. I do think he has a heavy bias when it comes to certain things. I feel like being white, and reviewing white artist, he subconsciously dislikes them and rates them bad in fear of him being stereotyped with that music. I mean, Mac Miller's last album, even if you don't like it... a 4??? That goes the same with this album. Also he did a review of the MGK diss and was obviously biased and sounded stupid af. I don't know if it is his age, his insecurities, or what. But every reviewer has biases and knowing the biases going in, can help you make better judgment as a listener. I know, that if Fantano reviews an Eminem project, a white rapper's project or certain other things, that he may not give the most rational review, so I don't hold his critiques to as much value as someone else.
That's kinda unfair. Tbf, Fantano put me on people like Brockhampton, Run The Jewels, Jpegmafia, that Jean Grey collab etc and if you look at his classic reviews, he has Nas, ATCQ, Outkast, Lauryn Hill, Wu Tang, Madvillian in there. He does know good hip-hop, he can't fuck with everything though.
Anthony definitely likes hip-hop, I just don't think he likes "rappity-rap" as Myke put it. He fucks with more crazy and experimental rap like Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, Death Grips, Clipping, etc.
I'm happy that they filmed this in an outside area. It's like the old videos, a little nostalgic haha

Nah. Fantano was on point. These guys are surprisingly and undeservingly kind to Kamikaze. It's at best a 5 outta 10.
Or he dislikes it because it's not good....
ManDu Official Faces is tough to listen to.
Braven Carlsen Agree. So many lines are a little more potent now.
Love this album Em definitely still got it I only didn’t like 3 songs from the album everything else is straight fire and has plenty of replay value
_Fans struggled when Em tried to grow on Revival. He heard them and replied with this hefty dose of Slim Shady. I can't stop listening._
Yooo Myke, you better calm down with that ‘22 and 16 ain’t that bad’ 😬😬
Romy Taylor Came out of left field lol granted, the age of consent is 16 in most states, it’s still heavily frowned upon.
I mean he's right it's not that bad especially when all he said that she was hot jokingly. Em has done worse
Fantano was actually a big Eminem fan back in the day Myke - he also gave MMLP2 a 7/10
he's a fucking bias. he hates eminem making music.
@@wordsmith-2232 he actually loves em old albums like Slim Shady and the Marshall Mathers LP
@@wordsmith-2232 you are looking crazy bro never fanboy for a artist. 😂😂😂😂😂
This album was great imo. I can't wait for eminem to respond to MGK.
@Aboood165 Mr porter said he's waiting to see who else steps up...
@@jennag3226 makes sense ,em doesn't have time to respond to someone every week so he's taking them all at once
@Aboood165 because you need facts for a diss. Not just name-calling.
Peace.
@Aboood165 bot.
Even before Rihanna. This man was a pop star in 2003.
Braven Carlsen . I disagree. But my point is, Rihanna was the biggest pop star at the time. Having her on one of his tracks opened a can of worms and diluted the quality of rap. He reduced himself to please his pop fans.
Wtf are you talking about he didn't rely on popstars for hits in 2003, he made hiphop
FaceClef lol yes ass like that is totally hip hop
The moment we’ve all been waiting for🙌🏾
Kamikaze is a fantastic album-my fifth favorite Eminem album ever. Kamikaze reminded me of classic Eminem, updated for the modern age with contemporary beats
I just miss his superb story-telling ability, and smooth, charisma driven flows, these essential elements are missing from the majority of all his latter day albums.
I hope Em disses Fantano next
Rip Mac, y'all should do Faces sometime
Ivan Kisaragi his best work imo.
STEEZY YEEZY
Tied with Macadelic for me, both deep just Faces is the matured version.
Ivan Kisaragi true
The Joe Budden x Eminem convo only on patreon? damn, it was the video I was looking for the most.

Basically this
For real, bcuz I don’t think Joe is lying.
Time to shell out. Id go on record though, saying Joe smashes Em.
Shit pay $2 bucks for a month 🤷🏾♂️
Dead end Hip hop reviews are always worth the wait
C'mon how is everyone getting confused about em's opinion on Revival? It is clear he still thinks that it is a good album, but understands he took an L because fans hated it and didn't want that kind of music from him.
Revival imo had its merits to it. It also had a lot of cons to it. For myself, it lacks overall replay value. Like there's 5 or 6 tracks I could play on repeat then the others I'd have to be in the mood to listen too.
@@TOTGodofWar About 5 okay to good tracks the rest just trash.
Exactly
I thought this album was dope...... I give it an 8/10..... Loved it...... Minus nice guy I'm good
@Aboood165 I think the last 2 song were okay....... I only think nice guy was wack....... Good guy and venom still have a dope enough flow to carry them out

Oh y’all outside wit it.
Facts!
Plain_23 👌🏽👌🏽❤️❤️ You’re absolutely right!! 💯💯
Gage Duke not really it’s just not a fun listen forreal forreal.

Ay shotout to the old backgrounds!
Fantano has given "rappity rap" albums positive reviews (Black Thought, Run The Jewels, Ka, etc). It's more Eminem's attitude that didn't fare well with him.
A lot of critiques took Em's diss to them too to heart and I don't think was able to separate the diss directed at them and the actual music.

Everyone has the internet. If he wanted to see reviews, he types Eminem reviews and is bound to found you or fantano or all the others that do this. It's not that far fetched.
these guys are the go to for hip hop albums reviews. They seem to get the subtle things when compared to the others.
You wouldn't have Kamakazi without Revival. Em feeds off criticism
This review here is everything
Royce said he loved Revival. I dont think its true but he stands by that
I've been looking forward to this!
And you did it OUTSIDE! Yeah! Continuity!
I'm eager to see how he follows this up
What’d you think abt MTBMB?
I still love postive/inspirational Eminem.
That's the Eminem I grew up on!
I just don't understand why Em is mad at people saying Revival was trash if we only got Kamikaze because Revival was trash. btw, Kamikaze is a 7.5/10.
To me its like a 5-6. It was really entertaining on first listen but it doesn't have a lot of replay value imo.
Snoopy double G For certain songs I agree with you. Fall, Lucky You, and Stepping Stone hold up very well, but some of the other songs like Venom, Good Guy and Normal aren’t as enjoyable after a few listens.
it felt like a 6.5 it only edged cause Eminem was rapping his ass off.

Do people call Revival trash and the Eminem pop tracks trash, only because it's Eminem? If it was a different artist would you like it because of the lack of expectation.
Because Em's old ass white voice with pop singers just sounds awkward and terrible. Only suburban dudes enjoy that shit

yes and no. first, they’re just so much lower quality music than the classic eminem, but EVEN some of his older pop rap songs. and i agree with the comment above about the weird old man voice with ed sheeran or some pop chick. it doesn’t work. lastly, revival was trash period, regardless of the pop tracks. theres a reason this review is so much more different. em was hungry again on kamikaze
Eminem and pop artists doesn't mix. He is rapping his ass off but zero chemistry with the singer, and most of the time singer's hook is trash af too. Exception from Stan and Lighters.
Love tha throwback, filming outside.
Its dope to see an outside review again 👍 and word Kamikaze is absolute fire #BARS #HIPHOP
I really feel like Em set the bar so low with Revival that it makes people overrate this album.

Revival was amazing for me I'm a NARRATIVE but kamikazze was amazing
Yaaaass, great review my dudes
Fantano is a overrated
He doesn't know shit about Hip Hop. Doesn't understand the culture and has no business reviewing it.
@@redcomic619 fantano is fantrash
