Honestly, Nicki's issue is that she came in riding waves. She rode the EDM wave, she rode the Lady Gaga wacky gimmick wave, but when the tide settled, she started slipping. She's a great rapper, but she tries too hard to appeal to mainstream pop and mainstream hip-hop and totally missed that fine line that artists like Drake are able to ride so smoothly.

She is a great rapper in the sense she has a pocket full of voices to express different moods. While cardi b always seems to have a similar aggression on the mic n switches flows, Nicki will have a flirty voice, crazy voice, drugged out voice, aggressive voice, ditsy voice etc

Sis first 2 album were hip-pop/pop! And only Pink Friday sold like crazy. Everything was a steady slope downhill. Trying to serve two audiences hurt her appeal to the hiphop community that saw her as a sellout. A relationship with Meek & Nas couldn't save her from that. And then Shether. And now Cardi. Sis is done.
the difference between drake and nicki is that drake had lots of competition coming up e.g kendrick, kanye, j.cole, asap mob etc. and has still managed to be become essentially the king of rap (sales wise). Nicki cant safe face... Example is JCole ppl didnt like 4YEO bc it was slow, dark and they didn't know the meaning behind it, but you couldn't deny the quality of production, bars and a new sound. NICKI ON OTHER HAND JUST HAS A TRASH ALBUM!!!!!! Production was great, bars were 0/10,message 0/10 and growth 0/10.....majority vote album trash and it aint no bounce back!!!

Nicki's time as a big mainstream act is done. She was searching for a hit for 4 years and the best she could do by herself was Chun-Li. She still has that hardcore fanbase that will buy and listen to her work.

I feel like you guys are bias against Nicki in this review. I don't love the album and I agree that it seems to be her worst album, but I think you let Onika the person affect the review.
I'm most disappointed in your comparing her to Cardi B just because they are both female. I expect more out of this channel. Cardi doesn't write her own rhymes, can't sing, doesn't have bars, and has no pop star potential. Cardi's album was better than expected but if she wasn't a woman there would be no mentioning her when talking about Nicki. That would be like comparing Kendrick Lamar to Lil Yachty. Also, Lil Kim and Remy Ma both initiated beef with Nicki so you can't fault her for that. And you can't act like she hasn't given props to Young MA several times.
Overall the album was disappointing when compared to her past work but it wasn't without anything worth hearing.
Nicki minaj was on top because she was the only female rapper and she had no competition.
Nicki is the result of not growing musically with your audience. Cardi came through and took Nick's ratchets from her leaving her with nothing. Everything about her isn't authentic from her sound to her bragging about her artificial physical enhancements.
