Seeing the kids out there with you brings a tear to my eye. Reminds me of fishing with my grandpa. They'll remember this all their lives. I guess in a couple more years you'll teach them how to cook em up, too.
Thank you so much
Those Kids look like they were having the time of their lives. Having fun and learning something. That is the best thing that could happen! Keep up the videos.
Yes they are! Bless you
Very cool love to see the kids enjoy doing what you do. The world needs more of that.
Wanted to take a moment to thank you for this comment. I’ve had to block several people who said ugly things about the kids in this video. It’s a shame someone has that much anger in their hearts to see something negative here. Just a couple kids experiencing something cool for the first time. Of course they are going to be excited. Says a lot about you that you found joy in it. I hope God continues to bless you with that type of happiness.
Like your crawfish videos

I’ll have to look into that. Thanks for the suggestion
Got to get down there.
Yes indeed!
I'm out in Jefferson Parish and just started hunting and fishing in the last year or so, and I love your videos. Are there any WMAs or public areas where I can try crawfishing?
Yea try Bayou Sauvage in Nola east with crawfish nets
I had 15 pyramid traps till I my dad ran over them with a tractor after I’d put them outta the way where he’d said they would be safe, now they’re crushed flat any chance on me bending them back out. Lol I had my traps in my ponds out in the pasture and would catch about 50-80lbs a day checking them in the morning and then in the evening. I would even go play in them with my Rhino stirring up the bottom and they seemed to like it. But I had a neighbor who would come across my fence and check some traps at night. PS I used dried pressed crawfish 🦞 pellets
Dude the same thing happened to my buddy in this videos traps lol
@@OutsidetheLevees I really thought and wished that while robbing my traps at night he’d pulled up a snake 🐍 in one as I did once. Talk about a heart attack check
Good eating my brother
Thanks my dude
and just a fun idea, you could do a crawfish boil with some crazy add ins not just your typical potatos, corn, onions, etc....
I’ve seen pineapple before lol
Thanks for teaching the kids and the rest of us. Who got the rest in the pan? Lol
😆 😆 😆
Me and my wife split it. Bless you. Thanks for the support
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Strong!
Daniel arms sent me over
Thanks Willis I really appreciate this
Good to meet you, is interesting to have your kids around you. But how do one get one and start this at a business
You need some land and a bulldozer to make the pond
Your compadre said 2 or3 yrars ago it was 9 sacks. Do you have to reseed every couple years?
It’s a good idea to reseed yes.
Which one would You prefer? Australian red claw or these redswamp crayfish?
Isn't there a cajun cooking going on around March 25th in St. BERNARD Parish
Crawfish Fest you should come
Is it possible to make these pots yourself and howe ???
Yes you can. If I can get some materials I will show you.
where a good place to catch crawfish on the side of a road im like 20 mis from the Louisiana line and wanna catch my own i make crawfish traps as well.
Try Pearl River WMA ditches or Bayou Sauvage
What about Belle River crawfish? Size, habitat, taste…
I will have to look into that. I don’t have a good answer at the moment
HOW FAR DO THE RED SWAMP CRAWFISH GO UP THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER?
You ever tried the crawfish from north? Imo theyre alot sweeter and buttery ,I did a side by side taste test cooked same way.. id have to admit not even being biased, northern kinds wins.
I have not. I’d def like to
@@OutsidetheLevees def try it.. if you ever come anywhere north Illinois and above ..
What plants do you have in your pond that benefits crawfish
It’s all natives. Alligator grass, cat tails, and duck potato for the majority.
What traps should I use for in the wild?
Pillow traps or box traps.
bayou Surf and Turf
On the menu!
In my country (the Netherlands), these crawfish are an invasive species. They are very prolific and spread quickly. They have taken over from the endemic species. The main reason is their appetite, and they brought a disease with them. They are immuun to it, but the endemic crawfish are not. They got sick and died. Now there are maybe two, but probably only one place in the whole country where the endemic crawfish still live. That population is very small, and we don't think they will survive.
The red crawfish eat almost anything; when there is not much food, the big ones even eat the small ones. Because they can travel over land, they are found almost everywhere. They also damage the levees, banks and even the land by digging holes and tunnels in the ground.
It has proven to be impossible to eradicate the red crawfish here, and we will have to learn to live with them. Luckely nature adapts to new things. In the beginning, our local wildlife did not "know" the new crawfish and did not eat them. Now the wildlife has learned that crawfish are good to eat and relatively easy to catch. Herons, storks, seagulls, Great Crested Grebes, and other birds of prey have started to catch and eat them. I even have seen ducks eating the very small ones. Water predators also found them to be good food. Pike, bass, carp, and other fish prey on them.
Never the less, the crawfish are still a big nuisance. Whole ponds are eaten completely empty by the crawfish. Nothing else can live in such waters. It takes years for these ponds to get back to their former glory. The problem is that the crawfish will return and empty it again. You need only one female with eggs to start a population that grows like wildfire.
Your people are some of the most resourceful in the world. I am a huge fan of the Netherlands. I think that y’all could build traps and start catching and eating them. It is truly a delicacy. I have looked into coming to the Netherlands to go duck hunting. Would love to come over there and show people how to catch crawfish. Please send me an email if you can outsidethelevees@gmail.com would love to talk to you more
Is this your pond?
No it is not
Why would you use garlic on crustaceans? It overwhelms the taste of the crawfish. I would want to taste what I am eating, and garlic makes that impossible. At least when you use as much as you did. Other than that. I enjoyed watching the video. It was fun to watch you and the kids getting those crawfish.
The garlic literally came out a crawfish boil. Don’t be so closed minded try it and see if you like it
@@OutsidetheLevees Problem to me is that crustaceans have a mild taste, and if you put garlic with it, you will only taste garlic and nothing else. And I am not very fond of garlic.
Where's the entire crayfish? That's not how i cook crayfish 🤣😬😁
Nu
Thanks for watching
All you needed was some bread and lettuce and tomatos
Sounds good maybe next time
Shouldn't teach your kids to beat snakes with sticks
He def wouldn’t really do it lol. That’d be a terrible idea
What kind of water temps are idea for the crawfish?
Water temps in the 70s are ideal
👍 I didn't know the end of the world is at Delacroix. I guess that's where they make it happening
Amen. Thanks bro!
@@OutsidetheLevees Derek Carr is our new quarterback, buddy.
It's really nice to see the young people get involved!!
Thank you! Always appreciate you
