A little trick i learned for dealing with skeeters and other biting bugs ( even ticks) when fishing, especially if your wading and/or repeatedly getting wet is to use Vic's Vapor Rub, it doesnt come off in the water and you just put it right above your boots, on your wrists and on your neck. It works better than any of the sprays and lasts for hours(just apply it liberally with latex gloves on so you dont get it on your hands because the fish dont like it either

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of fun a person can have over there, for such a small amount of money. Once you have the traps it’s just the bait and gas money. What an epic place to live.

This is how we did it when I was a kid in the 70’s in north La in ditches just off road. We used chicken neck bones for bait. Had big safety pin through net to clip chicken in place. Nets would be so heavy with crawfish we would fill a 55 gallon oil drum and every ice chest in neighborhood in a day. Us kids would run the line of nets after they had sat long enough for the adults to fished one can of beer. Then set them out again and wait for the next can of beer to be finished.

Chicken backs work well, too. You just poke a hole through one of the hip sockets and run a bit of wire through it to secure it to the net.

We used to crawfish in the spillway. We would use beef melts and pyramid nexts. We used metal shower curtain hooks to hook the beef melts to the net. Every time we ran the nets we would squeeze the beef melts to release the blood. Muddy up the water is a must do…👍 we had an inner tube that we would put a hamper basket inside that we would dump the mud bugs in. We would catch a sack or two in a couple of hours then go home and get our boil on. 😂😂😂 fun times. Enjoyed the video Jared. Have a great week ole boy! 👍🇺🇸🙏

Jared, that was some wicked weather yesterday. It centered right on Prairieville (us)!!!
I saw one of your recent videos about the litter problem. I live in Ascension Parish for the last 45 years. I met a guy picking up litter about 4 yrs ago.
I joined him but then he had health problems and had to stop but I kept coming. I formed a network with a few local businesses that would allow me to use their dumpsters.
I met with the parish president Clint Cointment and received permission to leave the litter, in bags, and just phone it in to his people.
Everytime I went out I tried to educate people about littering. Eventually the fishermen would holler "Hey photo man I got my trash bucket!"
I feel like I'm making a difference it Ascension Parish! Sorry to get long winded. Lenny Wells/Naturally Louisiana photographer.
