A little trick i learned for dealing with skeeters and other biting bugs ( even ticks) when fishing, especially if your wading and/or repeatedly getting wet is to use Vic's Vapor Rub, it doesnt come off in the water and you just put it right above your boots, on your wrists and on your neck. It works better than any of the sprays and lasts for hours(just apply it liberally with latex gloves on so you dont get it on your hands because the fish dont like it either
Never ceases to amaze me the amount of fun a person can have over there, for such a small amount of money. Once you have the traps it’s just the bait and gas money. What an epic place to live.
I normally wouldn't like this specific type of content, but you have a great way about you - positive. Positivity goes a long way in this world. You keep me engaged with your energy. I hope other people can take note.
This is how we did it when I was a kid in the 70’s in north La in ditches just off road. We used chicken neck bones for bait. Had big safety pin through net to clip chicken in place. Nets would be so heavy with crawfish we would fill a 55 gallon oil drum and every ice chest in neighborhood in a day. Us kids would run the line of nets after they had sat long enough for the adults to fished one can of beer. Then set them out again and wait for the next can of beer to be finished.
We used to crawfish in the spillway. We would use beef melts and pyramid nexts. We used metal shower curtain hooks to hook the beef melts to the net. Every time we ran the nets we would squeeze the beef melts to release the blood. Muddy up the water is a must do…👍 we had an inner tube that we would put a hamper basket inside that we would dump the mud bugs in. We would catch a sack or two in a couple of hours then go home and get our boil on. 😂😂😂 fun times. Enjoyed the video Jared. Have a great week ole boy! 👍🇺🇸🙏
Jared, that was some wicked weather yesterday. It centered right on Prairieville (us)!!! I saw one of your recent videos about the litter problem. I live in Ascension Parish for the last 45 years. I met a guy picking up litter about 4 yrs ago. I joined him but then he had health problems and had to stop but I kept coming. I formed a network with a few local businesses that would allow me to use their dumpsters. I met with the parish president Clint Cointment and received permission to leave the litter, in bags, and just phone it in to his people. Everytime I went out I tried to educate people about littering. Eventually the fishermen would holler "Hey photo man I got my trash bucket!" I feel like I'm making a difference it Ascension Parish! Sorry to get long winded. Lenny Wells/Naturally Louisiana photographer.
Awesome video one of my favorite places to crawfish get a lot of people hitting that spot up way way early when the crawfish are small and they keep everything gets fished out quick the food looked amazing too.
Me and my cousin use to catch about a bucket full using bacon. Dangling a cane pole at the hole and fishing them in shallow ditches in Plaquamine Louisiana.
I catch them with little kid fishing poles with pieces of bacon/hot dog and my little kids have a little net and I just lift them up and they scoop them at surface! That’s more fun. You can have several little poles lined up and just go down the line and repeat!!! Kids love it
First time viewer and really enjoyed your video. I love crawfish and try to get my fill whenever I travel south from Bristol. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more from you. Keep up the good work.
Hello Jared. Love watching your videos. Can you do a fishing videos using the crawdads as bait for fishing. And what is the most you ever got at in one trip out .
Nice catch, but I want to know how many you ate while peeling tails for the awesome recipe....lol. Great video brother. can't wait to come down that way again and enjoy St. Bernard Parish and all it has to offer. God bless and see you on the next one.
I wish I was fishing in warm weather because it is not warm here and I would love to learn how to crawl fish and I wish I could come down to do some gator hunting and see all of you people

That’s exactly why I did this video a throw back to the good old days
Chicken backs work well, too. You just poke a hole through one of the hip sockets and run a bit of wire through it to secure it to the net.

Yoo what part of the spill way please tell me . I’m looking for a good crawfishing spot
@@dylanjaufre9854 Bonne Carre spillway in Laplace La.
I used to ride dirt bikes all over that place back in the day!!! We would crab and crawfish with turkey necks as bait and fish in between.
Growing up in Pearl River in Slidell crawfish were everywhere.. sad to see now.. greetings from Alaska!
Everything changed man, but we still making the best out of it
Easy, fun & yum! Heck yes! Thx for sharing, sir!!
Any time!
"Country People" have a lot of fun--always fun things to do :)
I love that you catch and cook, also your recipes are always fire.

Nice catch and cook. I caught some crawdads in streams and ponds. The water was shallow and pretty clear and I used a grass shrimp net to dip them.
Sounds great!
You make a good meal out of what you catch great job you always do your thing keep doing it 💪💯
Old school I like it !!
My man
When I was a little kid, old school was a string and a piece of hot dog.
This is how we did it when I was a kid in the Spillway, and LaPlace, except i don'tremeber using pipe cleaners, hahaha. Memories ❤
Yep that would be the only part that’s not old school lol
We mostly used shower curtain hooks and sometimes we made our own with heavy gauge wire
This is a great video, I really enjoyed it. Do you know if those nets can be purchased online?
I believe they can with a company called Nets and More Google it
@@OutsidetheLevees Legend. Thanks mate. I've subscribed and going to watch some more videos for inspiration. 👍👍
❤ Good way to spend some time😊
Also I really enjoy your videos
Brother, feed your family, and i can only wish i was there to partake.
Me and my cousin use to catch about a bucket full using bacon. Dangling a cane pole at the hole and fishing them in shallow ditches in Plaquamine Louisiana.
I want to try that

I also go in and catch them with my hands! That’s the funnest way
I’d eat 200 crawfish right now man I’m starving
Now is the time. Prices have come way down.
Same
Looks very good, enjoyed watching
Thank you so much 🙂
Did that many times on the side of the Levi in St. Mary Parish Louisiana as a kid.
Good looking dinner.
probably a good idea to drop your nets one by one on the ground as your walking up then place them in the water on the walk back
Yes sir thank you
Your awesome dude and awesome video be safe out there 😎👍🙏
I catch them the old old school way get a plate and wait for them to jump in 😊

That's the way I learned too, we used saltmeat
Hello Jared. Love watching your videos. Can you do a fishing videos using the crawdads as bait for fishing. And what is the most you ever got at in one trip out .
Great idea. Just depends on how long you fish for. You can get a sack or two
😊 4:29 how long do u let nets sit before pulling? It's there a float on top of net. What about canals in nola & metairie
15 mins or so. You really just have to get out and try it takes a lot of trying
If you were to squeeze some of the blood out of your Bait. That attracts them very well.
That was cool deer meat for dinner gave you a big old shout out
Use that nutria you folks have down there for bait for crawdads and crab. It makes pretty good bait.
I have used nutria it works good
When I was at NLSC in da late 60s this is exactly how we caught em along I-10 .........
That’s why I made this as a throwback to the good old days
Never heard anyone outside of the midwest call them crawdads
I’m all about diversity lol
Does anyone know if the green bridge will be closed again this weekend?
I call them crawdad’s too! I’ve had people correct me and say crawfish! I’ve always called them crawdads and that’s what they are to me.
Great video thanks
Do you purge your mudbugs? If so for how long? Thanks!
I just rinse them a a few times with a soak
Great video buddy
My grandfather grew up during the great depression and he said he use to use rotten potato's .
Dang thats a cool idea
You need to teach Vinny how to do this🤣🤣🤣
I like this video catching crawfish. I from Brunei
Thank you
I saw you on Robs, Deer Meat For Dinner today catching Garr. It was about 2 seconds. Hopefully you mad a video of fishing together. Take care ❤
heck, yeah Rob is a great friend to me in this business
Interesting. I doubt those crawfish provide enough calories to justify all that work but luckily we don't need to worry about that much these days.
Nice catch, but I want to know how many you ate while peeling tails for the awesome recipe....lol. Great video brother. can't wait to come down that way again and enjoy St. Bernard Parish and all it has to offer. God bless and see you on the next one.
You know me all too

Awesome
Horseflies were TEARIN ya ass up out there!!
Yeah they was bad
I'm guessing those crayfish are primarily eating bug larvae naturally? I wonder what is their primary source of food (besides bait) ?
They eat whatever
Hello sir!

Where'd ya get those traps??
Just Google crawfish pyramid nets they sell them online
I wish I was fishing in warm weather because it is not warm here and I would love to learn how to crawl fish and I wish I could come down to do some gator hunting and see all of you people
