Yes her mother was not trustworthy, was a covert narcissists, fake, and two faced. She faked like she cared her daughter got abused but she didn’t raise Tina. Tina said she knew she had to become hyper independent because her mother was emotionally neglectful even after the success Tina would send her money but she still was jealous. Her mother didn’t want to have her which was revealed to Tina through a psychic. Her mother still was bestfriends with ike to but these fans buy into the whole “ Tina mother told her she didn’t like ike”; her mother probably said that to save face to Tina and lied to her but she was a jealous witch mother.

It's not unusual for celebrities to publicize that they have insured certain famous body parts.
They believe that it makes for great publicity and gives a certain mystique.
The actress Betty Grable was the first to insure her legs and that was in the '40s. Mary Hart from "Entertainment Tonight" and other celebrities have done the same.

Let's not be so quick to blame tina's mom. Tina's mother was still part of generations that were too close to the abuses of slavery and colonialism and the generational emotional spiritual and mental anguish that comes along with this.. this type of success could not be known to most blacks and was quite other worldy. if u couple that fact with any type of typical nagging or trifling mother who maybe in her own but still rather insuffcient way of loving tina, she will come across trifling or unfit. we see in the movie that tina's mom was in her life during her successes, but my goodness, she was still country and likely not super worldly. given the fact that she old old school country and the circumstances surrounding the neglect, we cannot expect tina to have come from an illustrious childhood with demonstrative parenting.
with forgiveness in her heart tina made the best of the relationship with her mom. it doesn't seem that her mother was at her core a hateful person. just rather trifling, and this is forgivable. it's not like she had precious' mom.

Justcallme Justice the movie is only loosely based on Tina's book. A lot of scenes were fabricated and a lot of info was left out. Tina had a baby at 18 by a member in Ike's band. Ike did not pay her mom. He took her in when her mom put her out. The rape scene and the cake scene never happened. When Ike and Tina moved to California, Tina's mom moved in his home in St Louis. Tina's sister took care of their kids while they were on the road. She also worked for them and lived in one of Ike's places.

I read the book as well, long before the movie came out. The movie is compressed, of course for time sake. Then the creative expression. But, most of these things did happen even if not necessarily as depicted in the movie. For instance, Ike did force Tina to eat cake. Though they were in a car together, not in a restaurant with company.

Read Tina's book. The movie is not an accurate depiction of her life because it's only loosely based on her book. Tina had a complicated relationship with her mother. Tina had a baby at 18 by Raymond Hill, a member in Ike's band. Her mother put her out and Ike took her in. Raymond abandoned Tina and the baby, Ike adopted her son Craig. When Tina and Ike moved to California her mom was living in Ike's home in St. Louis. Tina's sister was living in one of his properties as well. Even after their divorce her mother remained in contact with Ike. He was at her funeral in 1999 which Tina didn't attend. She attended a separate small service to throw her ashes in the ocean. Tina loved her mom but she never felt loved by her.

When southern plantations would get “West Indian” slaves, people confused them with the Indians we now call Native Americans. Since blacks weren’t allowed to know their true history, they were often lied to or created a narrative to make sense of their ethnic history.

Zelma stayed in physical altercations with Floyd Bullock, and when she had enough she packed to leave…but found out she was pregnant with Anna Mae. She resented that baby in the womb, cuz she had to stay….but ended up running off anyway.
I didn’t understand why my own mama and I NEVER got along, until I learned she couldn’t give me what she herself didn’t possess. I learned my great grandma of South Carolina found out her husband was married to 3 women at the same time, and jailed for it. She up and moved to Maryland and left my grandma behind, taking the other 3. My grandma ran away at 13 and hitchhiked to Maryland to live with her mother. I learned that when I asked my aunts why none of them liked hugging their kids and saying “I love you”. My mom and aunts were harsh, but not on purpose…. My cousins and I vowed we would change the narrative.

She worked her ass off , submitted to a man that didn’t deserve her or the talent he had. It was so disgusting how he made excuses for hurting her. She lived in PURE hell with sooooo many witnesses around , and she never did drugs that’s the amazing part , I have no idea 💡 I would have dealt with that. She was disrespected to the core yet made a way for herself when she left Ike for good. It’s sad how Ike never gave her money 💴 but put her in debt smh.
Her story about Phil Spector was dope who knew she was alone with him. That song Rolling in the deep is so underrated. I wish Tina would’ve stood up for herself more , so she wouldn’t have to endure such tragedy. She found her voice , her purpose , her strength and that’s better than anything.
Wow 16 years of this bullsh*t !! It couldn’t be me ...... the negro forced her to do things that made her sick , the cold part is she still went back omg that pissed me off...... Then when her sons grew up they ran over their mother too smh Tina is so forgiving I give her than. Tina Turner believed that she had significant Navajo and Cherokee ancestry, but genetic testing revealed that she was only 1% Native. Most blacks believe they have native in them, my grandmother thought the same about her mother. Plus she always used the fact that we have high cheek bones and pointed noises as an example (bad example if u ask me because most Africans have beautiful sharp/high cheek bones) anyway, we tested and had 0%. I wonder why so many black folks come to this conclusion. I know so many black folk who claim to be a high percentage of native. The test did show white dna in my fam, so I guess maybe my grandmother was fair skinned with straight hair, and instead of white they assumed native, idk

A psychic confirmed it for me and told my mother was jealous of me and that I needed to keep a distant to not be in contact with that female parent. I forgave her for me and then I have moved on; it was a betrayal because all the things she knew I went through or I suffered she never cared to support me and was in competition with me with no empathy. That’s not a mother, you can forgive but not go taking care of these people or having them in your life.

Love Tina Turner! Tina has always been and still is one of my favorite female artist. I am always singing her songs. Bought her book "I Tina", read it several times. I will buy this one too! Watched the movie "What's Love Got to do with it" all the time. Just something about her life (then) I could relate to. A beautiful and strong women she is. Gold bless you Ms. Tina!!

Now I digged Tina Turner always have and will forever ..But Anna Mae Bullock....aka Tina Turner knows what is on her Birth certificate...And I betcha it's not saying anything but "BLACK". But back in the days when Tina was born it probably read "NEGRO"...But hey she's still a living legend....lol
